The house he bought in 1996, Ten years before he became Governor

What Peter Obi said is that he only owns one house in Nigeria, at Onitsha. He never said anything about international. However, this house should not be an issue as he bought the house in London many years before he entered politics

My friend shut up, why are you always trying in vain to defend this serial liar, the question here is not whether he bought the house before or after becoming a governor, but that he said he does not have any at all, a pious leader must be straight forward and not to be speaking from the sides of his mouth

Politics / Re: APC And Tinubu May Sacrifice Shettima by samunaka: 8:34am On Jul 16, 2022
Validated:
There is currently high tension political maneuvre in the APC owing the muslim'muslim ticket. Indications are rife that Tinubu's hope of getting bloc votes from SW has been put to terrible jeopardy as most churches including allies like RCCG and other big penticostal churches in SW had spurn several efforts to pacify them on the muslim-muslim ticket. Worst still is the fact that the personality of Shettima is seen as a hater of christians who orchastrated the Chibok girls kidnap.
With this in mind, the APC may possibly lose in Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun and Oyo in the SW and in Plateau, Banue, Nasarawa, Taraba and Kogi in NC on the basis of the muslim-muslim ticket. The party having realized her mistake, is now looking towards the NC or possibly NE for a menable Christian running mate, who would agree to step down or not seek elections after Tinubu. The arguement in the last 48 hrs according to an insider sources close to the party heirachy is to enable APC win in SW and NC. Then fight Atiku in the NW and NE. The party never envisaged the repulsion that followed the muslim-muslim ticket. The placeholder idea with a muslim, was thought to test the waters, but the announcement has put the party in a dire strait with Tinubu scared of losing even in Lagos, as Kano is already in the hands of NNPP.

With Shettima, APC is not guaranteed any region. With the SW bloc votes in jeopardy and NC revolting, SE/SS being no go area, Tinubu and Shettima would only be looking to the NW, a region where Sokoto, Kebbi and Kaduna have seen very high defections from APC to PDP.

While we await APC's next magic, it is immiment that as prophesied by Tinubu himself, the spirit of 1993 had indeed fallen upon the Jagaban's life long ambition.

What tension and maneuvering are you talking about, Tinubu and Shettima ticket has already been submitted to INEC, the dead line for any substitution has elapsed, inec portal is shut down, I think the only tension remaining now is the one in your brain.

OsunOriginal:
As the gubernatorial election in Osun draws closer, contestants have been on the road day and night canvassing for votes. We have seen the campaign trains of the APC, PDP, etc. The presidential candidates and national leaders of the parties have also been visiting.

However, some parties have remained largely on social media, preferring to dish out even unverified statistics and numbers from the comfort of their homes and hoping that the social media rhetoric would do the job.

Electioneering is not for the lighthearted. It is for people who really mean business and ready to do what it takes to get their message to the grassroot. This makes me wonder if the likes of Peter Obi are actually in the race or are just noise makers. Otherwise, when will Obi and his social media supporters go to Osun to campaign for their candidate? Won't it be childish to think losing Osun state guber seat doesn't matter?

Politics / Re: Ohanaeze Reacts To APC Muslim-muslim Ticket by samunaka: 8:39am On Jul 12, 2022
adenigga:

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, OYC, has condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its decision to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential elections.
It will be recalled that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in Daura, Katsina State, announced the choice of former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

The announcement effectively confirmed the decision by the ruling party to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential race despite a good section of Nigerians rejecting the idea.

It has also attracted a barrage of reactions from Nigerians both on social media and off social media.

Reacting to the development, the National President of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, in a statement on Monday, said the choice of Shettima was a grand plan to sink Nigeria, describing it as against the law of natural justice.

Nnabuike also expressed concern that the Christian community would become a totally endangered specie under the Muslim-Muslim presidency, declaring Tinubu’s decision an insult to the millions of Christians in the country.

“Today, we have deemed it fit to alert Nigerians of a looming danger ahead of the 2023 general elections. This is following Bola Tinubu’s decision to opt for a Muslim-Muslim ticket, despite obvious reasons why he should not go such a route.

“This is totally unacceptable and should be rejected by anyone who means well for the country,” Okwu declared.

Okwu recalled that, “in 2014, Tinubu made efforts to force Muslim-Muslim ticket on Buhari, but the President resisted it by listening to the wise counsel of people like former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki. He balanced the ticket.

“Fast forward to seven years after, Tinubu now desperately wants to actualize a Muslim-Muslim presidency. There is more to this than meets the eyes. The insensitivity of Tinubu and the APC leadership is dreadful and that is their downfall.

“We see this as a grand conspiracy to sink Nigeria. How can anyone contemplate this arrangement in a multi ethnic and multi religious society like Nigeria?

“APC should forget 2023, they have shut themselves on the foot, we can’t allow them to destroy Nigeria. They lost the opportunity to compete very well in the forthcoming election. Nigerians, Christians and Muslim brothers who mean well for the country should rise and resist it to the last, it will never fly.

“The country has never been this polarized and every sensitive person should have been concerned with processes that would engender national cohesion and unity but what we have seen from APC’s Tinubu is a further division of the country.

“Tinubu claimed the choice is based on competence- our question to him is simple: does it mean that from the 19 Northern States there is no competent Christian? We can see the obvious falsehood in Tinubu’s claims.

“No religion is more superior than the other, but this is what Tinubu is making people to believe, a situation that would throw the country into avoidable crisis.”

She mentioned that christians will "waste" their votes for a party without structure.

"That candidate that they said does not have structure, we are going to be structurelessly ....Structure has not helped us. Politics / Re: PDP Crisis: Atiku Moves To Douse Tension, Vows To Unite Party by samunaka: 5:40pm On Jun 30, 2022
ogododo:
Amidst growing tension within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has expressed confidence that the party would remain focused and united ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He said this in a series of tweets on his verified twitter handle @Atiku, on Thursday. Atiku explained that his desire to unify the nation would begin from the party noting that he would continue to be not only a listening leader but also one that takes appropriate actions towards achieving set goals.

The former Vice President said in one of the tweets, “@OfficialPDPNIG will remain united. Focus on our actions; we are taking actions to address the feelings of all party members. Unity in our community is my priority.

“Our resolve to unify Nigerians starts in our party and moves to the community then on to society. Every Governor, Legislator, and Other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me.”

In  another tweet he said, “When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced.”

Recall that senior party members such as Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, on Wednesday, ruffled feathers when the voiced their disappointment at Atiku’s decision to pick Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, instead of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as running mate.

While Ortom who spoke in an interview with Arise Television, said, he was still praying and waiting for God to direct him as to whether or not to support Atiku in the 2023 elections, Fayose said it was time for a southerner to emerge as President after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure elapses in 2023.

In a related development, party leaders are said to have started consultations in a bid to stop the party from imploding ahead of the 2023 elections.

A leading figure in the party who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issues explained that the party could ill afford another major crisis at this point.

The source said, “Disagreements are normal in politics. In fact, political parties exist to resolve crises and harmonize positions for the greater good.

“We in the PDP are facing a challenge like never before, we are in opposition, we have a vicious ruling party in power we can’t afford to leave our flanks open. Another four years in opposition is inconceivable.

“We are in touch with our candidate and work has started. It is not for the media but we are not ignoring our governors although for now they seem not to be on the same page on this issue. In the end, the PDP will come out stronger.”

Politics / Re: Wike, Nigeria’s Next President After Atiku – Lamido by samunaka: 5:44pm On Jun 29, 2022
ogododo:
Former Jigawa state governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Sule Lamido has named River state governor, Nyesom Wike “the natural heir” to the Presidential seat after Atiku Abubakar, the party’s candidate in the 2023 election.

This is even as Lamido described the governor as an asset to the PDP and a leader who has etched his name in glory given his performance as chief executive of the oil-rich state.

Lamido who stated this in an exclusive chat with our correspondent in his Abuja residence however blamed unnamed persons close to the governor for fuelling issues Wike has been responding to recently, stressing that the party must rescue the Rivers state governor and preserve him for the future.

He said: “Wike is a huge treasure for the PDP and one of the best materials. If we win (in 2023), he is the natural heir to the throne because he has the quality, the aura, the charm, the charisma and the age. I have been saying this: PDP is a family. There was a primary election and there were expectations but some of them were not met. So, it is natural for one to react. I can understand that. Governor Wike is somebody who is very forceful, who has done so well as a governor of PDP in his own state and who has been very supportive of the PDP. But again, he was made by the PDP. He is somebody we must make sure we preserve and we must rescue him from his own anger.”

According to the former Foreign Affairs Minister, whatever support Wike gives to PDP today is the party’s right, adding that “it is the party that made him” and not the other way round.

He continued: “Whatever support he is giving to PDP is PDP’sright because a son does not say ‘I am doing this for my father.’ The party that made him is like a father.”

Recall that a former governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu recently said that Wike lost the Vice Presidential nomination to Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa because of the former’s penchant for talking too much. But for Lamido, Wike is right to be angry, insisting however that he must give peace a chance in the overall interest of the party.

“He is right to be angry for having not achieved his own personal interest or ambition but again that is what leadership entails. He is a party man and the party is not his enemy. The party is his home, is own group, his own support and therefore whatever might have been the failure of him to achieve his interest, should not be taken too seriously at a personal level.

“Wike is now like as a boiling pot. There is so much anger in him because people around him will not allow him to see clearly. People around him who he thinks are his own friends are his biggest enemies. It is a fact and he will see it later on and that is why they are putting more logs under the fire. By now they should be withdrawing all the logs under the fire, to allow the pot to cool down.

Lamido further counselled Governor Wike to be wary of those around him, noting that none of them has the capacity to make him realize his ambition.

“There is no one single person in Nigeria today who can say I can run on the platform of PDP and win election on his own, not even Atiku. It is the people of the PDP who will deliver such a person. Ask those around Wike, can they deliver their states to him? There are governors now using Wike but he is one of our best materials for the future.

“To me, we need to make sure that we assist him to calm down and stop him from spilling over with anger because the pot is literally messing up its body by this unnecessary heat.

At the right time, he will see the wisdom in what I am saying because we are all former governors. We know what we were in office and we know what we are out of office,” he added.
