Last friday evening, my friend in the hood called me on phone to inform me of a job opening in an ongoing construction site somewhere around Agbara (Lagos).

He told me the pay is 2,300 per day depending on if you were able to finish the day's job.

I told him i was interested (no choice for a broke man) and asked him when we are to leave for the place. He said we'll leave for Agbara the next day early in the morning to get there on time and start with others.

'No wahala', I said.

We set off the next morning and got there before 7 or thereabouts. When the supervisor saw me said, 'oboy as you dey lenge lenge (slim) like this, you sure say you go fit do this kind work so??'

I told him i could. Shey no be my mates dey do am?

I started the work which was carrying mixed concrete and sand up into the second floor of the building.

The work no easy o. I wan die true to God but i just chinned up and continued. I worked like this till afternoon.

My body was telling me to stop but i continued being that i wanted my full pay for the day then something happened.

As i was climbing up the scaffolded stairs, my limbs had become weak and my eyes dazed, i had no energy left again to climb up to the second floor so while trying to muster up energy as i climbed, I mis-stepped my footings and was about falling off the stairs down to the ground laden with bamboo, nails, stones and co far below but was saved by the hand of another worker coming up the stairs behind me. He had already noticed my fatigue and signs of faint feeling.

My headpan had already crashed down the ground.

I wonder what would have happened to me. Probably would have died.

The supervisor heard of it and was furious, lambasting me saying,' shebi i tell you say you no fit do this work? Na so you for put me for trouble.Oya dey go house now now, he said as he put his hands in his pocket and brought out 1400 as my payment.

I protested and demanded my full payment but he wasn't listening and was threatening to call the police.

I left the place, went home and used half the money to treat the sprain and pains i was feeling all over my body.

The only girl of my family that is my sister married a guy this guy is so rude and mannerless I don't know maybe it was because of the little money he has,fast forward they had their first born a boy,then two years later my sister gave birth to twins she deliver the first one by herself then CS for the second one,as Almighty Allah pleases my sister died the 3rd day she gave birth to her twins that is November 2017.
Although my late sister husband lost both his parents so those little girls are with my mum she has been taking care of them since then,so one issue arise when one prophet told my mum that they should do this 1,1. tribal marks for those little girls to prevent their late mother from disturbing them in which my late sister husband decline,he came back the 3rd day September 29 2019 that he has come to claim these little girls that he has already paid for their boarding school that they are going to boarding school,twins that is not up to 2 years, meanwhile their first born is not staying with him a boy of 4 years old he says that he should go and be staying with one of his street uncle.
We accept these little twins started their boarding school in the neighboring state, like two months after then when mum go and visit the twins at the boarding school,they says my mum did not have any right to visit these twins because of the instructions their father gave them,my mum cried like say tomorrow no dey.

Meanwhile the first born that is staying with his street uncle he also order that man not to let any of us to see him.

Nna, the thing wey I wan yarn don pass 18 years o!. Precisely May June WAEC of 2002. As a book worm then, examination was the easiest obstacle I can navigate. I was a brilliant kid with high mathematical abilities. The day for mathematics came and my colleagues knew it will be like a child's play to me. Ndidi and Tunde sat just behind me and were hoping for crumbs (help). But I be this kind person wey hate examination malpractice. Ndidi on her own part was not sound. Seeing me right in front of her gave her some strength. Before the commencement of the examination, she looked at me and begged to copy from me. That I am free to romance her laps in the hall. She pulled her skirt up a little and urged me to have fun so that I can supply her expo.

I declined. I couldn't just do that. Tunde lamented why he wasn't that sound. He thought he could have a free time touching those laps. Exams commenced and I was just busy doing trying to solve as many questions as possible cuz I wanted to score A1 in mathematics. My brother as I full my answer sheet, I say make I go collect extra from invigilator. I left the already filled booklet on my desk and headed to the examiner.

I returned and found an empty seat! Wetin happen? Ndidi don kidnap my booklet. I asked her to give it back but they was like " You no wan show me ba, if you draggam, we go just tearam hear." Nna, na me come they beg ooo. Finally, she agreed to give me on the condition that I will spread the booklet for her. I obliged and received my booklet & then stamped my authority. She resorted to begging again. The embarrassment was, I don't talk in exams but I had to beg her to free my booklet. It was crazy.
