Zandha:You wouldn't blame them really. Most of them don't really have meaningful things to keep them engaged in the real world. You wonder how Shekau was able to brainwash people into tying bombs on themselves and detonating their miseries, the answer clearly rests with Kanu and these IPOB folks. |
One of these three things would likely happen at the end of the Gubernatorial election in Anambra state. 1. Should the people truly sit at home, all it would take the APC is to monetarily mobilise the ever jobless youths who would cast their votes in favour of the ruling party. APGA would suffer a huge loss and the APC would easily pocket the South East should they get Anambra. IPOB would shout and threaten but nothing would happen. Should there be signs of unrest or anarchy, the FG would declare a state of emergency in the state. 2. Should the people come out to vote, IPOB would lose its power since it is partly vested in the people. Any other sit-at-home order thereafter would be a bluff. APGA or the PDP would win but IPOB would bear the major loss. 3. Should the sit-at-home be strong and effective and voting across wards fail to take place, the FG would appoint a sole administrator, most likely a military person. That would mean that Anambra would find itself five steps backward and tactical means would be fully engaged to curb anarchy. All in all, it would be a lose-lose situation for the IPOB and a win-win situation for the FG who understands that the APC might not be able to win but that rendering the orders of the IPOB useless is indeed effective. Kanu is dumber than I thought. The game of command is by no means a chest beating fanfare. |
themonk:Ketu would be the perfect option for you. It is central unlike Ikeja and you could reach any part of Lagos almost directly from Ketu. There are a couple of places around Ikosi with constant power supply and little of noise. Well, about having neighbours as intellectuals, I wouldn't know about that but with your budget, you should be home safe and dry in Ketu. |
pesinfada:So bad leadership transformed him into a Jew? The same bad leadership prompted him to say that he could pray and the oil in Nigeria would dry up. I doubt it. The guy is a cheap con artist and those with discerning minds don't need a TB Joshua to affirm that he is a scam. Just like someone mentioned, I'm beginning to think PEJ hired him. |
phoenixthefirst:Not really. Depression occurs when one's mood hits the lowest of lows and often times, they are not necessarily tied to things as you claimed. I suffered a major depression in 2010. It was horrible. I cried for over four hours and thought life had no meaning. Interestingly, things were perfect for me so I couldn't just tell what the cause. I cried so bad that I called a couple of friends to come over. They were shocked because I'd be one the last persons they could have sworn to see in that state. I saw a psychologist then but it didn't help because we could not arrive at the root cause. I was only lucky I had friends who never respected my privacy and space and stayed with me for a whole week, else, the worst could have happened. Thw best way out of it is to keep friends, I mean face-to-face, real life friends and not those formed on social media. So long you have them, you won't last in the hole of depression. |
Odingo1:The emboldened is funny. You expect others to call for a referendum on your behalf? What happened to your own voice?? |
babyfaceafrica:This is totally correct. The bulk of those saying Igbos should return home are either jobless or insensitive. I have come to conlucde there are more Igbos outside of the South East than the ones living in the region. Unfortunately, the silence of the Ohaneze, even though it is not listened to is a primary factor as to why the North sent their youths to heat up the polity. The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo should have condemned the threats and unnecessary noise of its youths long before now. The likes of Kanu, who are totally jobless, have found a way to put serious Igbos into unnecessary which could have been totally avoided. |
Heavance:He is only an obsessed fan and it is in no way related to attention seeking. |
I honestly don't understand why child trafficking is on the rise in the East. Is it that the children are sold to wealthy families who are not willing to go through the proper channel of adoption or that these children are used purely for fetish purposes ![]() The Police Force should really get their grip on this and understand why this act is prevalent in the region than in others. That might just be the first step in curbing this. |
This is gruesome and I sincerely empathise with these folks. The so called Mambilla militia might have found every reason to do this even though it is condemned in its entirety. Sadly, NafeesaAA, you never for once 'unmasked' Fulani herdsmen responsible for the deaths of many in almost every part of the country. Let us not only come out when we are at the receiving end of things. I noticed a lot of Northerners on here stay mum when Fulani folks terrorize others but are loud when it's the other way around. Every human life count and it is imperative that we speak against every horrific act on a fellow human, regardless of where it is coming from. May the souls of the departed find solace with God. |
TheUmbra:Honestly, I'm beginning to think you can't make a case without hurling insults. It makes you look weaker. |
Efewestern:This is the first time I'm reading about Ibori looking like an Igbo man. It is funny and stúpid at the same time. Well, what do you know? It has been revealed that we are all from Israel. Better get you shawl and start planning on growing your beards. ![]() This is comic relief. |
PrecisionFx:So you're really going to tell a Deltan that Efiks and Ibibios have their origin in Israel? Please go and read journals. physically, GEJ, Akpabio, Orji uzo kalu, James Ibori and tompolo have same looks, they look like igbos and they can be killed in the north for being igbo.Honestly, you are a joke. Tell me, how does an Igbo man look like? Could you be specific as to provide details on certain striking features possessed by the Igbos that is readily found in these folks? What is the difference between Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Ambode? Culturally, marriage rites n understanding/usage of kolanut is almost same between the ijaws and the igbos. An ijaw people married my sister last December and it was then I understood.Mr, biko, pack your bags and do some travelling. The Yorubas do kolanuts just as Igbos. Does that make them Igbos as well? Have you been to a typical Yoruba traditional function before? I'm asking because I have. My final assignment to u is this, Go and read history... Read Old British files n books u can find online n offline. Read about pre colonial/pre slavery days in Africa. As u go thru, u will start seeing in clear terms who is who in nigeria.Unfortunately, you didn't state a thing. Kolanut use in traditional setting is common in every part of the South today and that includes the South West, so please raise other points. Did you mention 'travel'. Like seriously? Funny. |
While she was respectful all through in her write up, she somewhat revealed how she was unfairly treated, despite claiming she loved it. She painted a perfect picture of herself such that one would believe Funke Akindele is the sole defaulter. Relationships and bonds sometimes break. She should move on. |
NwaAmaikpe:You wonder why Nairaland is declining when it comes to contributions and then you read comments as these. Too many kids with free data these days. It won't hurt to empathise for some minutes. |
The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. R.I.P |
PrecisionFx:We are getting somewhere. Could you be so kind to share the similarities in history, culture, language and physical characteristics between the Igbos and Urhobos? You are also allowed to link these points to the Itsekiris and Ijaws. @the emboldened, could you also share about ten similarities from 'the endless list'? |
Afam4eva:I consider the emboldened tad insulting. However, Quora remains a forum where ideas and intellects are traded without pique. I believe it would have been fair you mentioned Americans or a people who don't travel. An average American, I believe, travels and understands the dynamics of a society. |
Afam4eva:Well, you have a point, but believe me when I say the Yorubas are more close-minded in this area than other folks. An Igala man or someone from Otukpo is a Hausa man in the eyes of the Yoruba man, just as an Ijaw, Urhobo, Ibibio or Efik folk is an Igbo man. To them, there are three ethnic groups in the country (the same mentality PrecisionFx is exhibiting). Sadly, it is a national issue, particularly to those who don't travel. I would not say it is a global issue because the world at large understands origin, race and tribes far more than we ever could. If you frequent Quora, you would know this. |
Afam4eva:Truth is, there are no similarities. Most Yorubas are uneducated when it comes to the complexities of people in Nigeria. They are so close-minded that you must be Igbo if you are neither a Yoruba nor a Hausa man. And save we choose to live on lies, there are no similarities that are glaring. Deities and ancestral roots, foods, religions, political orientations cum systems, rites and practices, fashion, etc., are not in any way related, not in the eyes of a Yoruba man, but in the eyes of both an Urhobo man and an Igbo man. |

I can't believe I'd be arguing this but here goes... However, remember our argument was basically on the number of ethnic groups in Nigeria. You claimed it is just three while the others are simply tribes under these groups. What is an ethnic group? An ethnic group is comprised of people who share the same history, culture, language and physical characteristics.http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_an_ethnic_group An ethnic group or ethnicity is a category of people who identify with each other based on similarities such as common ancestral, language, social, cultural or national experiences. Unlike other social groups (wealth, age, hobbies), ethnicity is often an inherited status based on the society in which one lives. In some cases, it can be adopted if a person moves into another society. Membership of an ethnic group tends to be defined by a shared cultural heritage, ancestry, origin myth, history, homeland, language or dialect, symbolic systems such as religion, mythology and ritual, cuisine, dressing style, art, and physical appearance.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_group With the above in mind, do you mind explaining how the Urhobos share common ancestors with the Igbos, for example, or how the Ijaws share theirs with the Yorubas? There is no argument here, please. |
PrecisionFx:I understood your post and I'm correcting your assertion which is wrong. There are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria contrary to your opinion. You must first understand the difference between ethnic groups and tribes before claiming there are three ethnic groups in Nigeria. First off, ethnic groups are made up of tribes that share certain things in common. Certain things such as belief, culture and tradition, language, and sometimes, religion. You cannot tell me, as it stands, that Urhobos, Isoko and Itsekiris, for example, belong to the Igbo ethnic group since we can neither belong with the Hausas or Yorubas. This argument of your is horribly flawed and should not be heard from a Primary School student, no harm meant. Nigeria comprises of a complex people and it would be wrong in every way to claim the country consists of just three ethnic groups. How about we talk about the various origins of these tribes and groups to determine their roots? |
So the Fulanis can claim to be victims in this country? Small world indeed. |
PrecisionFx:I can't believe someone would come out in the open to state the emboldened. THERE ARE THREE MAJOR ETHNIC GROUPS being Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. In all, there are 256 ethnic groups in Nigeria. Other ethnic groups are considered minorities and there are sharp differences between tribes and ethnic groups even though they are linked. The ethnic group submission thing used to be the thoughts of regular Yoruba folks who believe you must be Igbo if you are neither one of them or an Hausa. There is more to the complexity of Nigeria than the three MAJOR ethnic groups. Fratermathy, I apologise. For some reasons, the mention wasn't visible and I didn't see it. I have seen a whole of lot of folks when don't have a life outside of here and they take pride in forming keyboard champs, you should clearly use the report button some other time, particularly if you don't have any interest in engaging them. Kudos, Oniovo. |
God bless the young police officer. That ese are the kind of people that should be found in the cadre of the Force and not those who worship these horrible criminals. |
iSlayer2:Kids. Yes, see it as the wailing of a pained fellow. When you see a man with properties, sometimes those properties could have come as a result of loans or mortgage. Trust me, I had enough. Besides, lands are cheaper in the East than in the West. Places, where you would likely come across cheaper lands in the West are on the outskirts of the states. I have been there and I know what I'm saying. The only places you would see lands running into high sums in Enugu are mostly high-brow areas, which is basically in the Northern part of the state and some parts of the South. No, I shouldn't come off as good to you because I didn't reinforce your preaching. My shock stemmed from the idea as to how non-Igbos here purchased theirs. |
Eastfield1:You just have to understand on thing, some of us have decent lives outside of the forum. I mean decent lives. You just have to come to terms with the fact that. I really don't understand the rationale behind your mouth foaming antics as what I shared is an experience that took place in January. I know full well that the propaganda radio you guys listen to have shaped you into believing that Yorubas and Igbos are the only two tribes around. Newsflash, there are more tribes than the aforementioned. By the way, could you kind enough to provide a link wherein someone lied about not being sold a land because he is non Igbo? |
spyder880:Sadly, it's one of the experiences of life. I believe so too. Thanks. I just might end up reaching you if eventually I kill my dreams of relocating. |
spyder880:Interesting. It should hag even been you then, instead of the family agent I met. For now, I am not thinking of walking that lane since the country is warming up. I'm sure things would have been a whole lot different if you were in the picture. However, the event had left me with the rumours I had long heard. |
EmekaMD:And why would I cook such up? For the first time in years, I spent Christmas away from my family just because of the January event I narrated. I wasn't supposed to let it out because it's personal but the truth is, the post is far from reality, and this is not an attempt to attack you guys. Unfortunately, I am not in any way seeking to buy one here again, because of the unrest flying around. Now would not be a good time to part away with money and end up losing it. |
spyder880:Well, it did happen in Emene. The same Emene in Enugu East and I believe the reason is because most lands in the East (I stand to be corrected) are owned by families. Therefore, the families wield their little power over how they want the land to go to and so on. Truth is, I haven't tried again since then because it's needless. Should I feel itchy to do something as that again, truth is it wouldn't be here. Lands in Lagos are not controlled by families and should their be any, then be sure it is the local head of the community whose family wield power over the lands in the area. I make to Lagos because I understand how it is done there. |
NwaNimo1:Now I'm stunned. Check out time all over Nigeria is usually 12pm, and one must check out before then else, another day is counted. Making enquiries about a hotel check out time is strange. As a matter of fact, this is the first time I'm hearing this. Here is an aside, you could negotiate your check out time in a non standard hotel, say 2-star, but trust me, it might not apply with a 3-star or a 4-star hotel. The standard check out time is 12pm in the hotel world. |
