Kanuris are more populated than Urhobos. Btw Nice thread. The Kanuris were thought to be the fourth largest ethnic group, beating the Ijaw nation to the spot. There were controversies surrounding this in 2006, following Jonathan's emergence, one which many claimed tipped the Ijaws to the spot against the Kanuris. However, following the wake of of terrorism in Borno and other areas, the size of the ethnic group has dwindled. World atlas confirms this and even claim that Boko Haram is of Kanuri descent. Presently, the Kanuris make up just 4% of the country's population. Urhobo is the fifth largest ethnic group with over four million people (according to the 2016 census). The number has increased dramatically over the past 10 years. |

https://d19lga30codh7.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Olu-Falae.jpg
An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, the state capital on Tuesday sentenced seven men who were involved in the kidnap of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, to life imprisonment.
The seven men, who were all Fulani herdsmen were found guilty of kidnapping the elder statesman in his farm in Ilado Village, Akure North Local Government Area of the state in September, 2015.
The convicts are : Abubakar Auta, Bello Jannu, Umaru Ibarahim, Masahudu Muhammed, Idris Lawal, Abdulkadir Umar and Babawo Kato.
They were initially arraigned on five counts of kidnapping, abduction, aiding and abetting, kidnapping, conspiracy and armed robbery.
The offences were said to be contrary to Section 2 of the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law, 5(1) (a) of the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Laws, Section 3(11)(b) of the Anti-Kidnapping and Abduction Law, Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and Section 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R11, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
It would be recalled that the former Minister for Finance spent three days in the den of the kidnappers while a sum of N5milllion was reportedly paid as ransom to the hoodlums.
It took the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari who ordered the former Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase to rescue the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party.
In his judgment, the trial judge, Justice Williams Olamide held that the seven accused persons were guilty of the kidnapping charge brought against them by the Ondo State Government.
He said the recovered ransom, call logs, and identification of the suspects by Chief Falae himself, indicted the convicts of complicity in the crime and subsequently sentenced them to Olokuta prison, Akure for life, without an option of a fine.
He however discharged them of two of the counts, conspiracy and armed robbery. http://punchng.com/breaking-court-sentences-falaes-abductors-to-life-imprisonment/ |

macmoyor: well if you live anywhere near Europe/UK, tell me How many of the high risk criminals and terrorist that are well known to the security agents had been deported? This is because most of these terrorists have been naturalized. Hence, they have their documents intact, but somehow abhor the countries wherein they have been naturalized. They are freely roaming the streets. take a look at Sweden. the guy that committed the terror attack (which messed up lives forever) there last week was a failed asylum seeker, and many of that in that fate never get bordered by the immigration officers, not to talk of been chained en-route to deportation. I am sure you are referring to Rakhmat Akilov, of the Stockholm attack, yeah? If yes, then his case is quite different. His stay was supposed to be temporary but for some reasons, he lost in his bid to get residency, lost his job and has been on the run from the police ever since. Don't make it look like these terrorists are given the free will to roam and operate without documents. chaining someone for a long haul flight is never a punishment for not having a document. its against human right, you cant even try it on your pet here not to talk of human. How about we weigh the possible reason why he was chained? How about we talk about a possible case of violent tendencies? |

So he went to another man's country without papers and expected that he be welcomed with open arms? Judging from the video, he must have been 'restrained' for certain reasons, mostly for violent tendencies. And to think that his mouth was even 'burning' when others came to his rescue tells a lot.
And for the bigot claiming the people recording are Igbos, I believe that is not true as I could clearly hear someone speaking Yoruba, obviously reporting that the restrained fellow was chained to an electric chair. |

slivertongue: You are wrong. PDP may have lost power due to the manifest failure to deliver progress but they are not broke and still a brand. The 'movers and shakers' have all gone underground bt their loots are still there and they will use it when the coast is clear. PDP may not offer much in 2019 but they will bounce when the schism which started in 1999 is addressed, they are actually the only party formed with the intent to govern, the others are AD and APP what we have now are protest parties. These parties lack order and vertical thinking I think you are mixing up individual wealth/loot with the party's wealth. True, people make up a party but then again, monies spent for official purposes are believed to be done by a party, even though it is funded by one man/person. It was reported that the PDP lost its secretariat over 360M debt in 2015 and you wonder what led to the bad debt. No individual would trust the PDP with his money, knowing full well that the party's chances of getting back their glory is slim. As a party, the PDP is broke. The individuals who call the shot have either defected or chosen to remain mum. |

My anger with him is his failure to own up to his sins. He keeps beating around the bush. He should just confess and get it over with but he wants to form Rambo and James Bond. That's his undoing.
As for his worSHEEPers, remember that he is a man and he has urges and is prone to human pleasure like every other man. Even Jesus had urges and temptations. But Su-LAIR-man is not Jesus. He's just a common man with a self-acclaimed relationship with God. He's not free from sin. In fact, he's more prone to sin. It's not a crime to "shine congo" but when you know you can't hide it anymore, just confess to your congregation, get it over with and take some time to make peace with your God! Spot on, oniovo. For someone as outspoken as Apostle Suleiman, it is very funny to know that he has not dwelt much on the issue. The pattern here is that church members reinforce behaviours of their pastors without knowing it. Man is subject to temptation, but hiding under the umbrella of the name 'man of God', even in the obvious place of shame, is not only laughable but shocking. Those who would remain blind to the truth would forever choose to, no matter what is presented as evidence. |

Christianity Etc › Bank Statements Confirm Suleiman Severally Deposited Stepahnie Otobo's Account by Sanchez01(op): 11:51am On Apr 10, 2017 |
SaharaReporters has obtained new evidence that Apostle Johnson Suleman, the leader of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, made several monetary deposits into the Nigerian account of Stephanie Otobo, the Canada-based Nigerian musician who was arrested by the police in Lagos in cooperation with the pastor.
While the pastor has continued to deny he has had a relationship with her, the police have charged her and one other person with terrorism and blackmail.
Ms. Otobo was also arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation Department as she made to withdraw funds from her local account during her visit to Nigeria from Canada.
A statement of bank account in the possession of SaharaReporters showed that in the period between June 1st and December 31, 2015, Apostle Suleman made direct deposits totaling at least N2million into Ms. Otobo’s account as their romantic relationship blossomed.
The first deposit of N900,000 was deposited on July 22, 2015, followed by a smaller deposit of N200,000k on September 2, 2016. A week later on September 14, while she was visiting Nigeria, Mr. Suleman deposited N1million into her account.
In November 2015, Apostle Suleman appeared to have changed the manner of depositing funds into the account, turning to using other people. On November 4, one Adewunmi TO made a web-based deposit into the account.
Towards the end of 2015, another person, Gbenga Adegbadebo acting on Apostle Suleman's behalf, made three deposits: N340,000 on November 10; N238,000 on November 24; and N170,000 on December 10. Ms. Otobo also alleges Mr. Adegbadebo, a Nigerian based in Canada was us a conduit through which Suleman send hard currencies to her in Canada as Mr. Adegbadebo runs an unorthodox "money remittance company " between Nigeria and Canada.
https://secure.saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/Step-Otobo.png?itok=dLLtoJIt
Ms. Otobo also said that she did an HIV test in October 2016 in Canada when she got pregnant for Apostle Suleman with the aim of showing that she was HIV-free as she began stooling blood. She supplied the medical record to SaharaReporters.
Apostle Suleman, refusing to acknowledge his relationship with Ms. Otobo, used the police to have her arrested, detained and tortured before she was charged to court for extortion and terrorism.
Recently, she pressured Ms. Otobo’s mother and her siblings to appear in his church to openly "apologize" to him in a manner that humiliated her mother and other family members. He has also continued to use his pulpit to harass Ms. Otobo, and, according to persons knowledgeable about his tactics, also recruited trolls to attack her personality on the Internet.
Several persons knowledgeable about the situation have confirmed to SaharaReporters how Apostle Suleman engages in unbridled womanizing using funds collected from poor church members to pay off his lovers with luxury items and real estate.
https://secure.saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/styles/normal_medium/public/1-steph-suleman.jpg?itok=0ZnLM6XV
Only recently, SaharaReporters traced a Mercedes-Benz car Mr. Suleman purchased for Nollywood actor Daniella Okeke on the website of the Lagos Motor Vehicle licensing commission authority.
Further investigations revealed that Apostle Suleman also bought a house for Ms. Okeke in the Mende neighborhood of Maryland, in Lagos from a fashion designer, David Eweje aka David Wej. Since our exposure of that deal, attempts have commenced to sell the property.
Mr. Suleman has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against this website and Ms. Otobo as a way of intimidating others. As one of his prayers, Apostle Suleman is said to be asking a Lagos court to issue an injunction stopping SaharaReporters from further publishing anything on him relating to his adulterous exploits.
SaharaReporters has yet to be notified of the lawsuit, if any. Mr. Suleman had also threatened to sue Festus Keyamo, whose Lagos chambers is representing Ms. Otobo, for N1 billion.

To those strong villagers that don't have access to adequate information, it would be difficult into talking them into voting for parties that does not sound PDP. If i recall well it took apc less than two years to become the party in power today . And if you recall, APC's aggressive campaign on and off of social media, coupled with electronic media campaigns gave them victories at the polls. Unfortunately, the PDP does not have the funds to throw around now, let alone pay for a new national secretariat. Talking about the party been broke u Forget that pdp still governs akwaibom, rivers crossriver n delta states this states cud be richer than all of the apc states ,excluding lagos ofcourse . Funny how you failed to mention the oil regions while leaving out your South East. Every state is presently mindful of not throwing money around, particualrly under the PDP. Just so you know, some of these governors would eventually defect to the APC, and the need to fund the PDP is nothing but useless. Does it not interest you that the only vocal PDP governors are Wike and Fayose? Go do the maths. |

seunlayi: Sheriff is a looser on this. The situation can be related to a whatsapp group where someone will be made a co-admin, he will remove the other admin's and remain the only admin forgetting that the others can easily create another group and abandon the first group for him It does not work that way. The PDP used to be a brand, the biggest political party in Africa. Creating another party just like that would destabilize a whole lot. And the idea of bringing the new party to popularity and limelight would always be there. As it stands, there are no marketable candidates in the PDP. Creating a new brand all over would cost the party years, which they cannot afford. The party is broke and desperately needs money to survive, and there is no guarantee that breaking or splitting would ensure victories at the polls in 2018 and 2019. |

The national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff said the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has no plans to suspend some of its bigwigs including former President Goodluck Jonathan as being speculated.
He said his regime would not condone impunity and indiscipline in whatever guise, but work towards re-defining the party and giving hope to the ordinary Nigerians.
Speaking through his deputy, Cairo Ojougboh in a telephone interview with Daily Trust last night, the PDP chief said he loves the party and does not wish that its members defect to other political parties.
“We are very particular about the interest of our party. We love the PDP and we are also aware that politics is a game of numbers. “We shall not make the mistake of allowing people leave the party if we can help it but at the same time we shall not condone indiscipline. We have left the door open for all as we fight to re-position the party,” he said. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/pdp-crisis-no-plan-to-suspend-jonathan-others-sheriff/192800.html

Politics › How EFCC Can Win Corruption Cases In Court – Obasanjo by Sanchez01(op): 5:40am On Apr 10, 2017 |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday advised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on how in corruption cases, declaring that they needed ‘ogbologbo’ (competent) lawyers, among others.
Obasanjo, who spoke while playing host to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel and some media practitioners in Ogun State at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, also said there was no truth in the allegation made by Gen. Ishiaya Bamaiyi that his administration wanted to kill him.
The former president said for the EFCC to be result-oriented, it must adopt a three-pronged approach of thorough investigation, diligent prosecution and committed judiciary.
He said, “I was reading today when the President (Muhammadu Buhari) said the EFCC should stop losing cases. They lose cases for a number of reasons. One, they engage more of outside lawyers. I believe that they need staunch, ogbologbo lawyers inside that will do the work.”
He gave the second factor as thorough investigation and third factor as judges who must be committed in fighting corruption, “because if the investigation is very sound and you have ogbologbo lawyer to handle the case, if you have Salamigate, you know what the answer will be.”
Obasanjo also denied the allegations by Bamaiyi in his book. Bamaiyi was detained in October 1999 and charged for the attempted murder of the late publisher of the Guardian newspaper and former Internal Affairs Minister, Alex Ibru. He was, however, discharged and acquitted in April 2008.
But last week during the launch of his book, Vindication of a General, in Abuja, Bamaiyi said the Obasanjo government plotted to kill him in detention.
Obasanjo who played host to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel and some media practitioners in Ogun State at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, said in response to a question on the matter, “My government did not plot to kill him. My government asked him to answer to those that were alleged to have been killed by him and that is legitimate. That if there is an allegation that you have done something, that you have committed a crime, then you are arrested, you should answer. And that’s all.” https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/general/how-efcc-can-win-corruption-cases-in-court-obasanjo/192806.html
