Well, I had a little experience recently in my home recently which taught me how hypocritical we can be as Nigerians. I, for one, have always been a fan of the slogan 'buy Naija to grow the Naira' even though the reform of the movement is quite new. Had to deliberately buy a classy Aba shoe (black, with rock solid soles I recently broke my fridge door shelf bar refrigerator plastic tray rack(whatever that means, but that's what it's called all over ) while trying to smuggle a ball of cabbage into the lowest compartment of the fridge. 'Not again, I muttered.' This is the second broken rack. I threw the first away just because I was angry and I couldn't find time to fix it. All it needed was a glue but I wasn't just elated enough to think about it. Not with this, 'dead body no dey die twice', I consoled myself in my typical Urhobo mentality. There's no way I'm losing this rack. I just have to fix it ![]() On Saturday (just last week), I took a stroll, on a quest to get a strong SUPER GLUE that could help restore the beauty of my fridge. The most expensive glue should be the strongest (this is my mentality on products and brands overtime and I am not thinking of changing this anytime soon. Quite, fallacious, i know). After walking for over 10 minutes, I got to a store. I think it is safer to break the conversation into the dialogue format for easier read. Me: Good afternoon, Madam. (I just needed to speak the pidgin English since I don't understand the Igbo Language) The Woman: Good afternoon Me: Abeg, I wan buy super glue. Na how much? The Woman: Na two types dey, oga. I get the one of #30 and the one of #60. Na which one you want. Me: Make I see the two, abeg. (She went into the shop, found both and handed them to me). Abeg, give me two of this one (pointing to the #60 glue). She got me another and I paid. I wasn't too convinced about what I bought and I kept staring at the glues while I walked away. In no time, I discovered that the glues were Nigerian made! 'This must be fake', I thought to myself. Worst still, Chukwudi and sons LTD (sic) manufactured it Me: Madam, this glue... (quite displeased)The Woman: (Quite surprised) Wetin do am? Me: (Ignoring her question) Abeg, give me another one if you get. The Woman: (Still quite surprised) But this one too good na. We argued back and forth a while while my eyes would run to the 'Chukwudi and sons LTD' at intervals. Finally, I gave up and left. She probably didn't understand why I returned, but to me, I wasn't going to walk for ten minutes only to pop water out of the tiny glue container. 'What if it bonds for a just a little time?', 'what if this, what if that...' kept racing through my mind. I clearly wasn't in the mood for some Nigerian version of what we are not prepared. Long story short, the glue has held the rack back to the door of the fridge but I have been skeptical and worried for no just cause. Perhaps, it's because the product was made here in Nigeria. I guess this is perhaps one of the reasons why we struggle with Nigerian-made products. We advocate for them online but would readily shy away from patronizing them all because we are unconsciously stereotyped into believing everything with 'made in Nigeria' inscription must be awful compared to its foreign counterparts. It's a wicked mentality and most of us are guilty of this. I just hope we learn to accept Nigerian-made products and trust them to function well. |
I clearly don't support rape in any way but this is hypocrisy at its peak. I mean, they marry minors and not consider it as rape What kind of humans are these people ![]() |
fowosh:Enugu has stopped stopped paying |
This is funny ![]() |
QuotaSystem:Your post reeks of ignorance, largely because you don't understand the scheme of things. Before anything, Tinubu is a Yoruba man whose people would stand by him regardless of political ideologies. Fayose hates the APC but was quick to defend Tinubu, despite the fact that Tinubu's party is in disarray. Perhaps you might not understand that the whole of Afenifere would stand behind Asiwaju against Northern supremacists. The obvious winner would be the West because whoever they align with stands. Aisha Buhari's outburst is solely because of this. |
Customer80:Nenwe precisely. So tell me more. I could give you some description if you would like that. |
FriendChoice:It's pretty much interesting how you think you understand the Scriptures. Adam was God's first human creation but would you say he was led by the Spirit to disobey? More so, the adoption of Sonship in Christianity was never exhibited in the Old Testament despite the fact that Christ was fully around at the time, just as the Holy Spirit. This came in the New Testament after Christ had ascended and the Holy Spirit came. Adam didn't need to cry Abba Father because God wasn't dealing with Him as a Son at the time but as a creator. |
tintingz:Why not just wait till next week? ![]() |
lekibraky:Chai! See Blasphemy ![]() The 'Comforter' here is the Holy Spirit. He came immediately after Christ left and met the disciples at the Upper Room where they all caught speaking in tongues. The Comforter was to TEACH THEM ALL THINGS AND BRING ALL THINGS TO REMEMBRANCE WHAT CHRIST TAUGHT THEM. Here's a quick one; 1. Did the Bible mention Mohammed coming afterwards since you picked your quote from the Scriptures? 2. Are the teachings and lifestyle of Jesus and Mohammed the same in any way? 3. What was it Jesus taught that Mohammed came to remind the people about. You honestly gave me a good laugh ![]() |
FriendChoice:You think? I doubt this. If you claimed this to be true, how come you all dispel that He is the Son of God? |
mukhtara446:I have a hard time understanding this. Could you please edit the post? Would sure address or perhaps respond if I can. |
Rilwayne001:Do not bring in your myopic views today. The Bible is well detailed about the character of Jesus, and I understand that your hate comes from a handful of Paul's teaching on this. Perhaps I would take my time to create a thread next week on the person of Jesus. Is Jesus God? Obviously no! Then what is He? He is the Father's Son who was around at the time of creation and came in as a man. He was quick to point this out. He prayed to The Father several times and taught His disciples to pray in this manner. Did Paul get the character of Jesus right? Perfectly! You want scriptural backings not from Paul but thebOld Testaments? Please wait till next week. Would sure point that out to you. |
Myde4naija:A dogmatic Muslim. Interesting ![]() |
Myde4naija:Not true. I know Muslims hate Apostle Paul. But here is what you don't know, Paul is similar to Mohammed, the Islamic Prophet. Personally as a Christian and one who is enlightened ,I have so many issues with some of Paul's teachings because they're wrong. However, we don't pray through Paul or any other entity. We don't even PRAY THROUGH anyone BUT IN THE NAME OF JESUS. Paul has some mighty teachings which are powerful and capable of making a man upright and just. But please understand that he is just a man and one of the apostles of the Gospel, just as Peter. |
GIVO:The Koran is presently translated into over 100 languages of the world, contrary to popular Islamic beliefs that its texts are basically Arabic. Get understanding, sir. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quran_translations |
Myde4naija:Islam also incorporates Jewish history as a part of its own. Muslims regard the Children of Israel as an important religious concept in Islam. Moses, the most important prophet of Judaism, is also considered a prophet and messenger in Islam. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic–Jewish_relations |
tintingz:Adam never created the world or anything. |
Seun:The bonded is not really true. They indeed love Him as a prophet. That's where their belief ends. Should they go beyond that, they would unconsciously accept Him as Lord. Islamic debates overtime states that Jesus truly died but was resuscitated instead of the Christian belief of resurrection. The implication of accepting His redirection means they acknowledge Him as one who has power over death without knowing it. |
UIA04:It is not by force to comment, you know? He is right. There is no forgiveness here. What happened to their marriage vows; 'in sickness in health, to LOVE AND TO HOLD'? Perhaps you take your time to read more on vows. There's a popular saying in the RCCG, 'once you carry, you don carry be that'. He is a role model to people, particularly younger ones. If you're a Christian, which I doubt, you would have understood that the place of prayer is greatly missing. I've heard pastor Chris preach on this several times. Marriage in Christianity is not this show of shame. |
The ish that led to the breakup of the two is beyond lack of quality time with one another as most people believe but on grounds of adultery. I kinda like Pastor, not for the curly hair but for his understanding of indepth teachings. I believe the issue is beyond what was dished to the world and the woman was fair to a reasonable extent to just seek divorce and move on without causing heavy damages to Pastor Chris and his church. Divorce isn't a sin in Christianity so far it is sought after on adultery grounds. However, this negates the love teachings of Pastor Chris and his church. He believes he has a ministry but the main one in his care has failed and all other things are near fail at this time because a pastor whose home crumbles has failed in all ramifications. I can only imagine the type of counselling the duo would give to several people here on, particularly on marriage related issues and tolerating one another. It is even more disgusting to imagine another man on this woman. This is nothing but sheer embarrassment. There's nothing left for Pastor Chris to preach on Love, forgiveness, marriage counselling and tolerance in marriage. Though I am no God, I sure wouldn't take my marital life to people like him to lead me aright. This is quite shameful. |
tripoli007:Bless you! Enugu is what it is today because of the man. |
OZYL:This is someone who really knows the place. I think you need to explain this to otil1 and his/her 'Federal Mega Projects' |
otil1:I don't know if the same Aninri LG in Enugu is the one you're referring to. Aninri is a village and underdeveloped. I have been there a couple of times and your post really had me wondering where the 'world class' is precisely. I could not believe Ekweremadu is from Aninri the very first time I visited. Worst still, it's almost like a dead LG. Trust me, I have been to a couple of LGs in Enugu here and it would be a huge lie to say Aninri can compete with some LGs, excluding Enugu North and South. Truth be told, Chime is the best thing to happen to Enugu as a state. It is no secret. While a dirty politician as Ekweremadu was expecting Chime to build and develop Aninri for him, what has been his major contribution to his people? I just pray someone who knows Aninri very well would quote me and tell a whole lot about the place. The so called 'seamless' road network thing is funny to say the least, because Aninri in itself links Enugu South to Nknau West and Awgu then PH road, which is only logical for an LG which is not an outskirt of a state but in the middle. Comparing Ugwuanyi to Chime is like comparing Comparing Real Madrid to Arsenal, achievement wise. Arsenal fans, apologies ![]() |
Modath, I'm a bit disappointed with a couple of your posts on this thread, particularly equating the typical African man who considers himself a loose cannon and can take for himself several wives without questioning to a sitting President of Africa's most populous country. My disappointment not only stems from the fact that you tried justifying the vain, backward, animal like mentality of a typical African man who is unlearned and uneducated intellectually, but that you're a woman who would attack a fellow womam, just so you could exhibit your dogged and unwaivering position on Buhari's issue. Perhaps you hailed him when he goofed in Germany by 'defining' the place of a woman, very typical of an African man, yeah? Truth is, the wife is clearly bitter and mad at him, probably because she hasn't been able to influence the husband in bringing people she knows. Again, it could just be my theory. She might be coming out now as a result of some shadow rifts between BAT and PMB, who knows? As a woman, I'm so certain you would not stay calm if, for example, hubby decides to flex and fan his typical African man mentality, take in another woman or impregnates her and tells you bluntly that he is a man and an African. Bottom line is that Aisha has turned an alarmist today largely because the husband is a newbie in democratic politics. It would be safe, I believe, to ride on another theory that she is lashing out at those, supposedly some Northern Elites who are scared of BAT and are all out to trimming his influence and power. We cannot stand with a seeming evil just because we pledged our cause and loyalty to it, whatever happened to our conscience for Pete's sake? |
Lol... The babalawo part got me. However, it's safe for me to say you shouldn't invite troubles upon yourself, the one Yorubas call 'ogun af'owo fa'. It could be ordinary or perhaps something you're not doing right. Not every human problem has a spiritual angle. Perhaps it is high time you changed on certain issues. 1. Associate more: I wouldn't know how well you do this but my putting this first is inspired by a thread which graced the FP about a day or two ago. Associate more and open up to people. You can't tell who'd be capable of helping. 2. Clearly define what you submit: Interestingly, I have come to discover that we have a way of lumping a CV and a resumè into sheets of paper of soft copy formats believing they're one and the same. Since you have worked in the past, I'd recommend you get a standard resumè template. A resumè basically tell things about your professional life, rather than educational and personal life. If your DOB have been surfacing in your sheets, now is the time to take it out. Only submit a CV when it is requested for. 3. Exploit or rather take advantage of your place of worship: No doubt, one of the fastest ways of linking up with people are often in places of worship. Regardless of your faith, it would be better you spread your tentacles by informing people within this circle of your need, particularly securing a job. I know it can be hard opening up to people without thinking what they'd think of me or say about me. 4. God factor: God haters might say there's no such thing as this, but know that a man who does not believe in something stands for nothing. Perhaps you're a Christian or a Muslim, it is clearly obvious that your faith at this point is shaky, probably due to frustration and the need to get urgent answers to your prayers. Stay in faith and just keep trusting God or whatever it is you believe in while you intensify your efforts by observing a thing or two which you haven't been doing before now. 5. Detail and Modify your post: Like you stated, you can do anything, but what is anything exactly? I believe there's a need to let in some details in here as it might cause someone to look your way. PS: Herbalists would exploit you and offer no solution at the end. Cheers. |
opsylojay:This is not something to laugh or clown over. Rape cases, no matter how wild your imagination is, should never be taken for a beer parlour discussion. |
daveP:Should the governor's desk take too long to reach, here are a few steps which might get his attention; 1. Take it to twitter tomorrow. Rant and mention as many handles as you can in series of posts, giving enough details. 2. Do the same on Facebook with pictorial evidences. 3. Copy the link forum here and paste on other platforms. Then start finding your way to the governor's desk. Trust me, he'll reach you before reaching him. PS: If the Ekiti state government have official handles on either or both Facebook or and Twitter, exploit these means. |
Demmtek:I can I'm the guy's face on the A4 paper and his face while staring at himself ![]() |
Sorry about the loss, DaveP. I'd suggest you guys find a way to make this get to the hearing of the governor, knowing how well he relates with the people and his stance on Fulani Herdsmen I'm the state. And since the anti-grazing bill has been signed into law in the state, it's so much better involving the police. For those advising you ask your dad to get the 10k, kindly ignore them. What happens when they come again, would you also collect another 10k? Besides, while 10k might cover for seeds, would it as well cover energies lost? Please escalate the issue. |
thorpido:I have some fears though. I would have advised a Nairalander who lives closer to her environ mentor her after all these are put to bed. I mean close mentoring. I believe that would also help as touching close monitoring and not just mentoring. Someone she could look up to. Better still, mom should know a person or two she listens to around. I understand this is a whole lot to ask for but I believe it would really help tame her. That is, after the reconciliation process pulls through. |
raumdeuter:This killed me ![]() At this juncture, those who didn't follow the thread from the outset should not derail it, either to lash out at others for claiming God over Moji. The most important thing is arriving at a resolution that would make her become a better person. Thorpido, thanks once again. Onegai, truth is, you've been the most open person on this. The likes of me are watching from the sidelines at this point since reconciliation is paramount. We can only pray everything work as planned. Mizmycoli is watching from the sidelines, just as me right. I hope you've been able to get your hands on some mashed chickens? ![]() PS: ifyalways. Bless you bunch. ![]() |
