Huddler:That is why he is the Oba of the source. An alhaji, a pastor, "oluwo", the custodian of "isese" all combine in the Oonirisa. Kade pe lori. |
It's very obvious from the beginning of the write up to its end that Mr. Akintan is a paid agent of those he is defending. Mr. Akintan should be reminded that the PWC audit report is now in the public glare and Nigerians now knows better. By the time govt changes hand come May 29th more facts will come to light about the rot under the watch of the petroleum minister. It may interest the public that the rot still continues even with just about two weeks left in the helm of affairs. There is a last minute scramble currently going on to Conner National oil assets by the allies of the minister. In the last 3 months at least 2 national oil assets had been taken away from NNPC illegally and handed over to private individuals by the petroleum minister. So Mr. Akintan you expect the new government to overlook all these misdeeds? In the words of H.E Sanusi Lamido Sanusi "Nigerians did not vote for an amnesty for anyone. The lines of investigation suggested by this audit need to be pursued. Any officials found responsible for involvement in this apparent breach of trust must be charged" |
The BUHARI govt should look at customs and restructure the collection process of importation duty. The current process is so complex and create room for custom officers to enrich themselves. Getting an independent consultant for fee collection will not be a bad idea, let the customs concentrate on inspection and enforcement. |
UPDATE - Eland Oil & Gas advances as Elcrest gets the nod to take over operatorship at OML 40 By Jamie Ashcroft May 11 2015, 11:11am Cantor’s Emily Ashford said Elcrest can be much more proactive in its development of what is an excellent assetCantor’s Emily Ashford said Elcrest can be much more proactive in its development of what is an excellent asset --ADDS SHARE PRICE DETAIL & BROKER COMMENT-- Eland Oil & Gas (LON:ELA) shares advanced on Monday morning trading after its 45% owned associate Elcrest received confirmation that it can become the operator of the OML 40 asset in Nigeria for at least ten years. It means Elcrest will soon take over the day to day operations from the national petroleum company. City broker Cantor Fitzgerald says Elcrest can now be much more proactive now, while Canaccord Genuity described it as a “very important step”. Eland told investors that Elcrest has received confirmation from Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) that it has fulfilled its obligations, which included a US$2.3mln payment to the DPR. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has now been advised to proceed with the finalisation of a joint operator model agreement. The agreement has been fully drafted and is currently under review, by all parties, and Eland expects the signing will take place in the coming weeks. “We had expected this consent to be received, and had modelled the development of OML40 with this assumption,” said Cantor analyst Emily Ashford, in a note repeating a ‘buy’ recommendation and a 178p price target. Canaccord Genuity, meanwhile, described the switch of operatorship to Elcrest as a “very important step” and said it it’s a “key plank” in an effort to build production in the most efficient way. “The improvements in production delivery from the two current producing wells on the Opuama field over the past 9 months or so have been under the operatorship of NPDC but with a considerable degree of proactive involvement from Elcrest (and so Eland),” Canaccord analyst Charlie Sharp said in a note. “But the step up in activities for the planned drilling programme to develop fully the Opuama field, and then the other licence discoveries, needs the greater degree of management control and oversight that operatorship brings.” Sharp expects Elcrest’s first order of business, once signed off, will be the hiring of a rig for a phase of new drilling starting in Autumn. Westhouse Securities analyst Mark Henderson also had a say on the bureaucratic step forward, highlighting that it was positive for investor sentiment. “It is difficult to put quantification on the value of assuming operatorship, but it is certainly helpful and potentially comes at a time when there is an increasing focus in Nigeria on improving efficiency and reducing corruption in State-run entities, particularly in the energy industry,” he said. On AIM, Eland shares gained 4p, 6.5%, to trade at 65p each. OML 40 hosts the Opuama field – as well as others – and it has 81.4mln barrels of proved and probable (2P) oil reserves. It is only partly developed, and there is potential for much more expansion. The area is estimated to have a further 41mln barrels of contingent resources, as well as 254mln barrels of prospective resources. At the last reported count, the fourth quarter of 2014, the Opuama field was producing in excess of 3,500 barrels of oil per day. http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/80175/update-eland-oil-gas-advances-as-elcrest-gets-the-nod-to-take-over-operatorship-at-oml-40-80175.html |

@Speaktome: are you an operator in this business? What exactly is your service to a potential investor? |
The violence currently going on in Rivers state election is not a surprise, bearing in mind the build up to this date. The language of an average politician in Rivers is VIOLENCE. It going to get worse in this particular election because of the empowerment of militants as led by the chief militant himself ( PDP guber candidate in the state). You don't expect less in an election where almost all the PDP house of assembly contestants are ex-militant Chiefs. PDP has succeeded in returning militancy into Rivers State. The events that may unfold after this election in Rivers may not be what we pray for. May God protect us all. |
A coleague sent this speech by Sanusi Lamido (The CBN govenor) to me and I felt its wort sharing. Here is a speech by a rare gem, it has altered the thinking of many Nigerians including myself. Enjoy! Please if you write a silly book, don’t invite Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to make a presentation. I guess Olaniwun Ajayi has learnt from this. Sanusi faults Olaniwun Ajayi on Northern domination. The Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi at the Muson Centre in Lagos. The book titled: ” Nigeria , Africa ‘s failed asset?” attracted many important dignitaries, intellectuals and some governors. The argument by discussants centered on whether or not the colonial masters laid the foundation for the problems Nigeria is currently facing. Many argued that the British loved the North and that was why it gave more than 50 percent of the National Assembly seats to the North at independence. Sanusi, however, stole the show when he spoke. His speech was anchored on the plank that the British and Nigerian rulers are responsible for the state of the situation Nigeria finds itself today. Below is his unedited speech. “Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation. “My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language. “Let us go into this issue because there are so many myths that are being bandied around. Before colonialism, there was nothing like Northern Nigeria, Before the Sokoto Jihad, there was nothing like the Sokoto caliphate. The man from Kano regard himself as bakane. The man from Zaria was bazazzage. The man from Katsina was bakatsine. The kingdoms were at war with each other. They were Hausas, they were Muslims, they were killing each other. “The Yoruba were Ijebu, Owo, Ijesha, Akoko, Egba. When did they become one? When did the North become one? You have the Sokoto Caliphate that brought every person from Adamawa to Sokoto and said it is one kingdom. They now said it was a Muslim North. “The Colonialists came, put that together and said it is now called the Northern Nigeria. Do you know what happened? Our grand fathers were able to transform to being Northerners. We have not been able to transform to being Nigerians. Thefault is ours. Tell me, how many governors has South West produced after Awolowo that are role models of leadership? How many governors has the East produced like Nnamdi Azikiwe that can be role models of leadership? How Many governors in the Niger Delta are role models of leadership? Tell me. There is no evidence statistically that any part of this country has produced good leaders. You talk about Babangida and the economy. Who were the people in charge of the economy during Babangida era? Olu Falae, Kalu Idika Kalu. What state are they from in the North? “We started the banking reform; the first thing I heard was that in Urobo land, that there will be a curse of the ancestors. I said they (ancestors) would not answer. They said why? I said how many factories did Ibru build in Urobo land? So, why will the ancestors of the Urobo people support her? “We talk ethnicity when it pleases us. It is hypocrisy. You said elections were rigged in 1959, Obasanjo and Maurice Iwu rigged election in 2007. Was it a Southern thing? It was not. “The problem is: everywhere in this country, there is one Hausa, Ibo, Yoruba and Itshekiri man whose concern is how to get his hands on the pile and how much he can steal. Whether it is in the military or in the civilian government, they sit down, they eat together. In fact, the constitution says there must be a minister from every state. “So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria . The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any poverty that you find in any part of the South. The British came for 60 years and Sir Ajayi talked about few numbers of graduates in the North (two at independence) . What he did not say was that there was a documented policy of the British when they came that the Northerner should not be educated. It was documented. It was British colonial policy. I have the document. I have published articles on it. That if you educate the Northerner you will produce progressive Muslim intellectuals of the type we have in Egypt and India. So, do not educate them. It was documented. And you say they love us (North). “I have spent the better part of my life to fight and Dr. (Reuben) Abati knows me. Yes, my grandfather was an Emir. Why was I in the pro- democracy movement fighting for June 12? Is (Moshood) Abiola from Kano ? Why am I a founding director of the Kudirat Initiative for Nigerian Development (KIND)? “There are good Yoruba people, good Igbo people, good Fulani people, good Nigerians and there are bad people everywhere. That is the truth. “Stop talking about dividing Nigeria because we are not the most populous country in the world. We have all the resources that make it easy to make one united great Nigeria . It is better if we are united than to divide it. “Every time you talk about division, when you restructure, do you know what will happen? In Delta Area, the people in Warri will say Agbor, you don’t have oil. When was the Niger Delta constructed as a political entity? Ten years ago, the Itshekiris were fighting the Urobos. Isn’t that what was happening? Now they have become Niger Delta because they have found oil. After, it will be, if you do not have oil in your village then you cannot share our resources. “There is no country in the world where resources are found in everybody’s hamlet. But people have leaders and they said if you have this geography and if we are one state, then we have a responsibility for making sure that the people who belong to this country have a good nature. “So, why don’t you talk about; we don’t have infrastructure, we don’t have education, we don’t have health. We are still talking about Fulani. Is it the Fulani cattle rearer or is anybody saying there is no poverty among the Fulani?”. he said. This is a great message to our generation. Are we truly ready to develop and unite Nigeria? Regards, Iwu Ifeanyi Roger |
Again! God please help us in this matter and bring us everlasting peace in Erin-ile/Offa. It beat my imagination how we often loose our cool at the slightest provocation. We are too close to be enemies. Lets give peace a chance oooooooooooo. |
The ownership of a private jet by Pastor Oritsajefor; to me is not a big deal, afterall he is not the first man in Nigeria to own such. The only funny aspect of the whole story is the " church members thing". |
BH has become a big embarasment to every rightly guided Muslim across Nigeria. The BH members committing all these bombing and killings are definitely misguided. I pray for the repose of the souls of the victims of BH while the Bokoharamites weather living or dead should perish in HELL fire InshaAllah. |
@Segcy-moor; If you read my post well, I did not say Ikorodu is a bad location. Every individual will have his/her reason for choosing where to acquire a property at a material time, and I think that should be respected. Segcy-moor, be informed that I owns property in Ikorodu, but my search is not within the Ikorodu axis now (no apology). On the final note, I will advice you (Segcy-moor) to be more civilised in your response to posts on this forum, besides its not necessary that you respond to every post you see. |
where is karishi? |
@ Gemariah and Whykay; I will call by friday evening to fix the time for the inspection as discussed on phone. My search is open and not limited to the area I indicated in my post. I can consider any other good location except ikorodu and badagry. |
I am in need of a plot pf land within the range of 1m to 1.5m in lagos, preferably in magboro area along Lagos-Ibadan expressway. |
@okunoba, your response to this thread is a manifestation of your ignorance. Your perception of Islam is totaly wrong. You even showed the extent of your misinformation by stating that Islam is called ''imole'' in yoruba land because its a forced religion, this is outright falsehood. Pls u need to upgrade. |
Omisore showed to the world what he would have offered as a govenor in osun state. But thanks to God, that He will not be in Osun state goverment house with the emergence of Aregbesola as the new gov. |
The "man of God" pastor Paul Adefarasin should be reminded that christians can not do it alone. No one can win the presidential election in this country using religious sentiment. I think the Pastor got this wrong. |
This is really good for democracy in Nigeria. How I wish all our judges in the hallow chambers can live above board and restore our hope in democracy. Now the truth has prevail. |
While I will agree with lots of people that getting job with a third class might be difficult (particularly at enrty level), I want to add, that a third class from the UNI is not the end of the road. There are lots of things an individual in this class can do to better his/her lot. The business world today, lays more emphasis on skills rather than paper qualification. A third class graduate can look into IT and acquire some specific skills, he/she can even go futher into certification programmes, I think this is one of the way out. I have seen people that have been able to turn things around with this approach despite graduating with a third in the UNI. |
