Eraytee:
good day peeps, pls i have 2 questions to ask the house.

I studied Geology (B.Sc), petroleum geology/sedimentology (M.Sc) and now am currently running a Ph.D program in Environmental Science. when I was in naija had over 6 yrs experience in Geology with a serving company i was working with, now am a research assistant (RA) in my department, please when filling the immigration form is there going to be an issue with my work? because its quite different from my previous work. secondly, pls where will I get reference letter? is it my new job (RA) or the job I left before i traveled for Ph.D program. thanks in anticipation for y'all input

No issue whatsoever. Regarding reference letter (s), you'll be required to provide references for the job (s) you are claiming points for. That means if you are using only your servicing company experience, you'll have to get the letter from the company.

Just out of curiosity, what university are you at currently?

Arranged employment - N/A
Adaptability - Spouse IELTS (LSRW - 9,8.5,7.5,7) (5Points)

EGBAMI OOOO

Then your score should be around 71. At this point, I don't know where the problem is coming from. Are your language results still valid? Thats's like the only thing I can think of.

Extract from the attached file

Your Express Entry profile has been reviewed and we have determined that you are not eligible for Express
Entry at this time.

To qualify for Express Entry, you must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, and/or the Federal Skilled Trades Program and/or the Canadian Experience Class. Based on the information you gave in your profile, you do not appear to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for any of theseprograms at the moment.

Below are a few examples of why a candidate will be found ineligible:
• not having a valid language test,
• language test results that are more than two years old,
• a language test score that is too low,
• not having enough relevant work experience,
• not having the required education level,
• not having enough funds.

Alright Let's see

Language (CLB 8 ) = 20
Education (MSc) = 23
Work Experience (2 yrs) = 11
Age (?)
Arranged employment in CA (?)
Adaptibility (?)

Fill in the values for those (?) and simulate your eligibility score. It seems that's where your problem is coming from.

As seen from the above values, your total currently stand at 54. If you don't have a job offer in Canada or a relative, you won't be eligible based on your score because the maximum you can get from age is 12 which will bring your total to 66. A point short of the cut-off.

To be fair, most of those countries are in the Schengen area and some of those countries get as e be. If you've been to Luxembourg and Vatican City, you have automatically been to Belgium and Italy, respectively. Same applies to some extent for Liechtenstein and Monaco.

Hi all,

Please how does past visa refusal from any country affect the timeline of processing one's PR application. A survey was done on some applicants that are delayed at the NA2 stage and most of them had one visa refusal or the other and indicated same in their application. Some of them have been on the same stage for 2 to 4 weeks and counting while their counterparts and those who applied after them have long received PPR. Their applications are still at CIO, Sydney and not yet assigned to any local visa office.

Please any experience of those who successfully got PPR with a visa refusal which they indicated in their application and what was their timeline like?

I appreciate your responses.

I'm not answering your question because I haven't received PPR yet. This is just to offer another perspective.

A survey was done on some applicants that are delayed at the NA2 stage and most of them had one visa refusal or the other and indicated same in their application. Some of them have been on the same stage for 2 to 4 weeks and counting while their counterparts and those who applied after them have long received PPR

While this may be the case for most, It doesn't apply to me. I have never had a visa rejection before and this is my third week on NA2. I have travelled to about 26 countries in the last 6 years so I simply attributed the delay in NA2 to verification from those countries I have visited.

This is simply my theory as I have no way of knowing for sure why I'm stuck in NA2.

Thanks for your reply @santino1. but i don't understand one thing tho, do you mean if you were a visa official checking out my study permit application and you see my permanent residency application, you will refuse my study permit?

Cc: @GlitteringStar

Yes, that's what I meant.

Since the work experience of the spouse gives zero points (unless it's Canadian work experience) isn't it better to just fill it in as personal history to avoid the stress of getting reference letters? please advise

Hello Everybody,

Congrats to everybody who got their intended scores in IELTS, also those who got their PPR.. and to the hopefuls, may God's favor and mercy be upon us .

Soo I just started reading this thread.. I wanted to ask if its possible to apply for study permit and express entry at the same time. I was reading up on "dual intent", so I guess its possible sha, here is the link for those who want more information:
www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/ temp/visa/dual.asp

If you check the link you posted carefully, you'll find this:

Temporary residence status might be refused for several reasons, including:

-history of having contravened the conditions of admission on a previous stay in Canada;
-lack of or insufficient proof of adequate funds to support oneself while in Canada, and to affect one’s departure from Canada;
-medical inadmissibility;
-not satisfying the visa officer that the individual will leave Canada at the end of their period of authorized stay.

Now, if I were a visa officer and I see your permanent resident application, I'd conclude that you do not intend to leave Canada at the end of the period of authorized stay. Thus, I'd refuse your application.

That is my opinion based on interpretation of the extant law.

Thank you so much, but I am not the principal applicant, and we are entering for FSW, would I be required to prove my self-employed period? Or should I just leave it out and claim only NYSC.

And just to be clear, I will include all my experiences in personal history, but I will only get reference letter for NYSC right?

Yes, under sections R10 and A11.2 you will be required to show proof of your employment history (not personal history) as declared in the express entry profile. However, since you are not the PA, your employment doesn't earn you much point to be honest (if it's not work in Canada, then it earns you 0 point). In that regard, if I were you I'd focus more on strengthening the PA's application via ECA and IELTS which earn you way more points than employment.

i remember now, it was tbills you had 5times of the POF in grin

pls do you have an idea of the rates for tbills in Stanbic and firstbank?

It depends on the tenor and what's generally available. So usually you don't know the rate until you are in the bank and they show you what they've got.

lolz my lord financial i salute. So you dey here too.

oh i also have accounts with Stanbic and First bank. I would inquire their rates tomorrow.

I'm anywhere there's money to be made o my oga.

If you're going secondary, then Firstbank might be a better choice. Stanbic is ideal for primary but those are the two leading banks when it comes to T-Bill rate.

Thanks alot. Lol I assumed the secondary market was some sort of special establishment, now it is clearer. One more thing, do I get a treasury bill certificate in my name for a secondary market deal?

Chai see oga Einsteino trying to lock in that POF. It is well.

To answer your question, you just have to request for it and it will sent to your mail address. Also like everyone already suggested, UBA T-Bills is sh*t as they usually offer substantially low rate compared to Stanbic and Firstbank. But if you don't wanna go through the hassles of opening new account with them, then you can also by from UBA. Good luck.

Are you sure about the bolded? I thought it was the other way around, so I was waiting till after my birthday to enter the pool. Pls our senior gurus, put mouth here oh...help your sista wink

You are totally right, IMO. Based on my literal interpretation of section A11.2, your birthday is only "locked" upon ITA and if your birthday was between ITA and eAPR then officers are advised to apply the "public policy to exempt applicants for permanent residence from certain age-based requirements between invitation to apply and application, based on section A25.2".

So if you like create a profile on January 1st, if your birthday is on June 1st and you are still in the pool your CRS drops on the 2nd of June.

I'm sorry but i do not really understand.

Is there a calculator for eligibility score?

If this score is less than 67, does that makes me ineligible for EE?

Yes, you earn point under language skill, education, work experience, age, arranged employment in Canada, and adaptability factors. The maximum point for all those factors is 100 and you need to score at least 67. It's all on page 0. Whenever the senior members ask everyone to read from page 0, it doesn't mean they don't want to help but it's to avoid to answer these questions over and over again.

Please I have an uncle in Canada, can i exclude him when filling my profile? I read somewhere that I may need to provide proof of relationship and his PR card etc and i dont want any of that since i get no additional points anyway.

Did he contribute to your eligibility score (i don't mean CRS)? If yes, does removing him lower your score to less than 67?

Your answer to those questions ought to be your guide.

Good Morning My People,

Just checked my results
LRWS - 8,8.5,7.5,7.5

My CRS Is currently 438 with this test results, should I try to get a remark? extra points can get me to 441. what do you guys advise please.

My ECA report will be ready on the 17th (next week) can I go on ahead and fly into the pool? LOL or do I wait till I get the report?

I'll advice you to wait. When filing your eAPR, you'll have to indicate the date you received the report and any discrepancy between the date written on the report and the one you indicated could have serious implications.
