A young graduate of the Department of Agriculture, University of Calabar, Marvelous Sule Bambur, was on Saturday March 5, murdered by unknown gunmen in Anambra State.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that the incident took place opposite Central School, Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS learnt that the late Marvelous, an indigene of Taraba State, was shot severally in the head, with his skull ripped open.

An eyetwiness told GRASSROOT REPORTERS that his attackers drove in a Toyota Sienna car. The eyetwiness also told our correspondent that the gunmen also shot dead, an Okada man, identified as Richard, who also died on the spot.

The late Marvelous performed his mandatory National Youth Service in the community and stayed back shortly after completing his service year. He got a job as manager at P& F Filling Station, Nnokwa.

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues of the victim have taken to Facebook to mourn his death.

While condemning his gruesome murder, Egwu Daniel Ifechukwude wrote:

"The senseless killings in the east must stop.

"The unfortunate incident that happened today in Anambra State that led to the death of my colleague, Marvelous Sule Bambur, has left all of us (the friends and colleagues he left behind) not just in deep shock, but in tears �

"MB (as we fondly called him) was such an amazing personality; one that checks up on his colleagues every now and then.

"See ehhnn, your killers will know no rest and they'll die a very slow and painful death. They can't cause us so much pains and go scot-free, no! 'Unknown gun men' ending a life they didn't create is the greatest sin against humanity.

"Again! The very country you called your own failed in her duty to protect a great citizen like you, and we will never forget �

"May God rest your gentle soul ��." He wrote.

A POS operator, Excel Matthew Okorie on Thursday afternoon, returned N100,000 naira to a bank staff that overpaid him in Zaria, Kaduna State.

Focus Naija can report that the POS operator had gone to withdraw N192,000 from the PZ road branch of FCMB to kickstart the day’s business when the cashier wrongly paid him N292,000 instead.

Narrating the incident on social media, the POS operator who combines business with academics said that his integrity was put into test by the encounter.

According to him, he told the bank staff to properly confirm the amount before he left the banking hall that morning.

He said at noon he surprisingly received a call from the same cashier telling him to cross check the amount paid to him as it seems he was overpaid with N100,000.

He wrote in part;

“At noon my phone rang from the bank and it happens to be the cashier that attended to me , pleading I should recheck my cash , because he thinks I was given extra 100,000 naira.

“Immediately I checked the cash and saw an over cash of 100,000 naira immediate many things came into my mind but i imagine the mental stress the poor banker will be and his job is almost at risk.

“On getting to the bank at about 30 minutes been called, he was happy seeing my face with the 100,000 and asked please what business do you do which I told him.

Indeed my integrity was tested by the universe today and soon we believe our business is having branches in no distance time.

He was later given N200 (two hundred naira) by the banker for transportation.

A suspected rapist standing trial before the Samuel Ilori Magistrate’s Court in the Agege area of Lagos State has escaped.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the defendant was arraigned on Wednesday for allegedly raping a teenager.

The court was said to have ordered his remand in prison custody.

The suspect was being processed for remand when he reportedly fled the court premises.

Efforts by warders to apprehend him were said to have failed.

A credible source said, “The suspect was brought to court by the police and he was remanded. He had been taken to a holding cell by the police when it was discovered that he had not been properly processed. As the police and the prison warders were perfecting the arrangement, he used the opportunity to jump on a vehicle from where he scaled the court fence and escaped.”

A trader in the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

She said, “I was there yesterday (Wednesday) when the incident happened. I saw security operatives and other persons searching for the escaped suspect. He couldn’t have climbed over the fence of Guinness because the fence is high and the top is full of barbed wires. Besides, they have a big and spacious compound and an intruder can be easily spotted.”

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said he could not confirm the incident.

However, a senior official confirmed the incident, adding that efforts were on to re-arrest the fleeing suspect.

One Mohd Zakar has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for fingering a 9-year-old girl in Hadejia town.

Zakar was sentenced by a Jigawa State High Court, sitting at Hadejia, on Thursday.

The prosecution counsel narrated that the defendant, who is from Magama Quarters in Hadejia Town of Hadejia Local Government, was arraigned in July 2018 for allegedly luring a 9-year-old-girl to his room where he had a s3xual relationship with her.

The presiding Judge, Justice Ado Yusuf said the prosecution counsel did not establish the offence of rape but was able to prove that the defendant had committed an act of gross indecency by inserting his finger into the private part of the victim.

The Judge relied on Section 238 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Jigawa State to convict him for a lesser offence.

He convicted Mohd Zakar for the offence of gross indecency and sentenced him to seven (7) years imprisonment.

This is very UNPOPULAR but today, women in Abuja are protesting against the misogynistic and repressive agenda against women by this 9th National Assembly.

A 40-year-old suspect, Aminu Bello, has been arrested by Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter Hafsat in Kebbi state.

The NSCDC state commander, Musa Bala, who disclosed this while parading the suspect said that the arrest was effected following a tip off from members of the public who reported the incestuous affair “we parade before you a 40-year-old father Aminu Bello who allegedly raped his 13-year old daughter Hafsat in Badariya area Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state”.

Bala, who described the act as the highest immorality, stated that his command will continue to arrest and expose the bad elements in society.

The command’s spokesperson, DSC Akeema Babatunde Adeyemi, stated that investigations are ongoing on the matter after which the suspect will be arraigned before the court for prosecution.

He urged neighbours and members of the public to put eyes on suspicious movements and/or acts that are likely to degenerate into heinous crimes.

He added that Kebbi command will not sleep on its responsibility to nib in the bud all criminal elements in the state.

A Congolese man identified as Luwizo is the latest King Solomon in town. The polygamous man from Kalehe, South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, recently married triplets Natasha, Natalie, Nadege in a colourful wedding ceremony.

In an interview with AfriMax, Luwizo revealed he first fell in love with Natalie, who he met on social media and couldn’t resist. Whenever Luwizo would visit Natalie’s home, and she was not around, he would be welcomed by one of the triplets and couldn’t differentiate them. With time, they both fell in love with him.

Luwizo said he was shocked to meet three identical women after visiting Natalie’s house to formalise their marriage.

“At first, when we told him he had to marry all of us he was shocked. But because he had already fallen in love with all of us, nothing couldn’t stop our plans since we were also in love with him. Even though people consider it impossible for three women to share one husband, but to us, sharing everything has been our life since childhood”, Natalie, one of the triplets said.

Speaking about the experience, the man said:

“I almost fainted. I asked them amongst all of you, who is Natalie? They told me I had met all of them on different days I visited. I became confused as I had planned to marry Natalie but what confused me was that I couldn’t marry one of the girls and leave the two behind.”

He added:
“I was obliged to marry to all of them because they are triplets. It wasn’t an easy decision because until now, my parents don’t understand what I’m doing.”

30-year-old teacher, Mukaila Abdurrazak, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for defiling a 13-year-old pupil in Zamfara State.

The state NSCDC spokesperson, Ikor Oche, who disclosed this said that the suspect, who has been teaching the minor both in school and at home, had been taking advantage of the girl for the past three years.

Oche stated that the suspect confessed to the crime during preliminary investigation and will be charged to court.

The Zamfara NSCDC advised parents to be vigilant and mindful of who they are leaving their children and wards for in the disguise of teaching or otherwise.
