chocolateme: Greetings to anyone reading this, please pardon my grammatical errors as I bare my heart in this write up. We live in a down floor flat in a three storeyed building and as you know how most compounds in Surulere is without space, ours is surrounded by other tall buildings so to get fresh air especially at night is zero possible. The state Government has not been forthcoming with pipe borne water these days despite knowing how important water is to human life, the power supply company are making it harder too, you go to bed at night, you won't sleep well due excess heat, you won't see water to at least bath throughout the night to keep cool till morning. This has been going on in our area in Surulere around Itire/Ishaga. Last night, I thought I was going to die oh God!! We have generator set but the engine is very faulty and very expensive to repair besides, we can't be spending money on fuel on daily basis coupled with the fact that there are other expenses at home to run. Last night, I was awake till 3am dot, I kept fanning myself and sweating profusely, at a point, I felt I was loosing my breath, I stood up, laid down, sat down, I did everything I could to feel OK but to no avail, my hand was aching me too. I slept off for about 12minutes only to suddenly jerk up from bed and feel sweat running down my face and body like a cup of water was poured on me hmm.. The mattress was soaked at different sections and I couldn't lie down on it again. The one that scared me most was that I observed that fluid came up into my mouth from my stomach and I rushed to go and spill it out, dehydration too, I kept drinking water and trying to stay alive. By exactly 3am dot, they brought the light, I wasn't feeling happy because there was no morale for excitement anymore but I finally managed to sleep off, i woke up again as they took it by past 4 again till now. I sleep by 3 or 4 almost every night and I am feeling frustrated. I felt I should share it, I am tired, God please help me, I am always scared once the night approaches on daily basis.. The Government should help the masses with light and water for healthy living.
At 59 we are still dealing with this problems. I hate this country. I shit on the legacy of those self serving nationalists.
Gucciblog: About 8,000 people have fled Rann, a Borno border town, to Cameroon in the aftermath of a Boko Haram attack on the town last Tuesday.
Aid organisation Medecins San Frontieres (MSF) in an update on the Rann attack released Thursday night said residents fled to Bodo, a remote community in Cameroon, some seven kilometres from Rann.
“Our sources in Bodo estimates that some 8,000 people arrived yesterday and we expect several thousand more may come today,” Hugues Robert, MSF Programme Manager for Nigeria, Hugues Robert, said in the update.
“We are preparing to assist 15,000 people with food, water and medical care over the coming days. Many people were in a state of shock and were clearly distressed by what they had witnessed. Now they have lost all that they have and need absolutely everything,” he added.
The organisation said many of the refugees have spent the night outdoors without shelters. Many of these locals are children, breastfeeding mother and pregnant women, MSF said.
It said a team consisting of medical and logistical staff have been distributing food and water, and are providing emergency medical care.
Rann has suffered attacks by Boko Haram and a case of mistaken firing by the Nigerian Air Force in January 2017, leading to the death of many.

delugajackson: In the history of African traditional society, there was no jungle justice. It has now become customary of Nigerians to practice "street court." You are not in the position to determine the guilt of an accused person, it is only the court that has the right to do that. The law does not allow you to be a judge in your own matter.
It's rather unfortunate that our justice system have lost it's integrity and credibility, but that doesn't mean we should take laws into our hands. The accused person also has a right and might as well be inoncent. We really need to stop acting like barbarians. This is the 21st century for God's sake. Funny enough, these same people will hail and prostrate for a politician who is a more bigger and dangerous thief. It's very pathetic.
It's time the world abandons this Archaic Muslim beliefs. because she's female, does that make her a lesser being? it's so appalling that religion that is supposed to connect man and God is the one denying people their rights. saudi Arabia is a country any sane thinking person should not visit.

Sportdab: Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola has claimed that no one trusts his team to win against Liverpool ahead of Thursday's clash.
MySportDab report City are seven points behind Liverpool and could fall even 10 points futher should they lose against the Reds today.
However, Pep Guardiola believes everyone are backing Liverpool to extend their advantage.
“I know today nobody trusts us but it is what it is,” said Pep.
“They are in the moment the best team in Europe, in the consistency, the way they control the details in their game. We are going to focus on what we have to do to win the game. Everyone is talking if we lose, but we can win.”
City were held to a goalless draw at Anfield in October, when Riyad Mahrez missed a late penalty to win it for the Champions.
“I cannot figure out what happened in the past is going to happen in the future,” he added.
“Every time we won a lot of games it doesn’t mean it will happen in the future. I have a feeling everyone can beat us but also that we can beat everyone. Last year we beat them 5-0 here. It is Liverpool, with [Manchester] United the best team in all England in history. We can beat them.”
5Ebiscoo: Less than two months before the 2019 presidential election, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government, accusing it of lying to Nigerians that the country consumes 50 million litres of premium motor spirit (PMS) daily. Saraki said the claim was criminal. He also accused the government of scaring away investors by creating a climate of fear and implementing poor economic policies.
Saraki, formerly an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari and member of the ruling APC, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following what he called “witch-hunts and political persecution” by the ruling party. He told some editors in an interview that the federal government’s anti-corruption crusade was an attempt to hoodwink the masses.
According to the senate president, “Under this government, we went from fuel consumption of 30 million litres a day to over 50 million litres per day. Where is this consumption taking place? This is criminal. What I am saying is that if we could be so hard on Jonathan that claims to be doing 30 million litres per day, now, they are debiting us with over 50 million litres per day.
“Nobody will tell you that we can consume more than 25 million litres per day. Calculate the amount of money that we are losing. It is not appropriated, that terminology is just a means to cover that transaction. Instead of reversing it, the president said it should be appropriated for and now we are coming back for it to be under the budget.”
Saraki, who is also the director-general of Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, the 2019 election campaign organisation of the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said the president ignored repeated counsels he had given him regarding an alleged oil subsidy fraud being perpetrated under his nose.
“If you look at it, that this subsidy must continue, then let it be efficient, instead of doing that the NNPC wrote the government saying that without putting the money in the budget, they can take the money straight from revenue, called cost recovery. This is fraudulent, it is illegal. There is nothing we did not tell Mr President that this cost recovery is wrong.”
Unlike former President Goodluck Jonathan, who adjusted his policies when corrected, Saraki stated that Buhari saw him as an enemy and attacked him as such.
Recalling what happened to him and others then in the APC, the PDP stalwart said, “Go and look at 2016 when we were in a recession. I called a debate and we wrote the president, listing things that he was yet to do. I will give you an example: we said we should see how we can raise equity; he (Buhari) attacked us. They said we wanted to sell refineries to our friends – you can remember. If you see the 2019 budget, the President is saying he is expecting the sum of N810 billion from the restructuring of the JVC – exactly what we had said at that time.”
Furthermore, the former governor believed the Buhari regime was stifling economic growth through its opaque economic blueprint, and urged the president and his economic team to open up investments to the private sector. He declared that the organised private investors do not have confidence in the president’s commitment to provide a level playing field. Saraki asserted that while ordinary Nigerians would cast their votes to elect a president next year, the investors had already made up their minds.
Saraki affirmed that only the PDP presidential candidate could bring back the investors’ confidence in the country. “You can harass politicians but investors’ money can only go to where there is safety,” he stated. “As long as the private investor does not have confidence (in the government), things will be difficult due to the fact that the right decisions are not taken by the government. I keep saying that ordinary Nigerians will go and vote on February 16, 2019. But the business community have voted already – that is the truth.”
Speaking further, the senate president said, “Unless we bring that confidence in our economy it will be difficult. That is why for those of us that found ourselves on the other side of the divide, we are saying that for Nigerians to move this country forward, we must do the right thing and vote for our candidate, Atiku Abubakar, because that is what will bring confidence in the private sector to invest.”
According to him, Nigeria is not like Saudi Arabia, which has enough funds to fund any project. He urged Nigerians to vote out the incumbent president.
“We don’t have that money. There are some countries, like Saudi Arabia, those kinds of countries that can fund their projects successfully. We cannot. Where is the money and who is going to bring out the money? Who will bring out that money? Do they (investors) have confidence in the government? The answer is no. Then, the government has to go, if the government does not go, poverty will continue,” Saraki stated.
He economic disaster lurked if Nigerians chose to keep Buhari in power, as it will further scare away the few investors staking their resources in Nigeria.
“Because oil price is at this level, it’s not going to move up. So, we already know the revenues. The question with this revenue is: will it bring the needed investment? The answer is no. Where will the money come from? It has to come from somewhere else. This is why they have been taking loans, which is not good for us, it should come from investments,” Saraki said.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) had in a report last week said Nigerians consumed a total of 479 million litres of petrol from January to September 2018, representing an average of 53.2 million litres daily for nine months. NNPC’s operational and financial results for September 2018 also showed that the country consumed 80 million litres of petrol per day in March 2018, up from the 41 million litres consumed daily in December 2017.
CilicMarin: Peter Obi, vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says Nigeria’s economy will keep “bleeding” if President Muhammadu Buhari remains in power for another four years.
Speaking in Lagos on Saturday, Obi made reference to the 2019 budget Buhari presented to the national assembly on Wednesday.
According to him, Nigeria will not survive if Buhari’s goes ahead with plans to tax “poor Nigerians,” in line with provisions of the proposed budget which is largely focused on debt servicing.
“We need to know where we are going as a nation but with Buhari at the helms of affairs, we do not know where we are going. Buhari is not in charge of this government as he does not know or care what the poor people are going through,” he said.
“Nigerians are currently the poorest people on earth, yet the Muhammadu Buhari administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still looking at taxing them the more.
“Take look at the budget presented by the President a few days ago and you will see that it does not give anyone hope instead, it tells us that we are still where we have always been.
“A quarter of the budget is meant to service debts, and that is about 60% of the budget while the President keeps telling Nigerians to tighten their belts because of the harsh times staring at us in the future.
“Does that give anyone confidence in this government? Not at all, I dare say. While presenting the budget, he said that the government is looking for ways to tax Nigerians the more. What are you taxing the poor people for?
“Does that give any one of us hope in this government? That means that if we keep them for the next four years, we are finished.”
Outlining what Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, will do to “reverse the situation” if elected to power, Obi said focus will be placed on reviving small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
He said Atiku’s administration will restore investor confidence and improve ease of doing business in the country to stimulate economic growth.
“We know the situation looks gloomy but we are not scared of going in to salvage the country. The situation with Nigeria is like an accident victim. The first thing to do in such a situation is to stop the bleeding first by applying first aid before the real treatment,” he said.
“Unless the right steps are taken to stop the bleeding, we will still be where we have been for years.
“It’s going to be difficult but we know where we are going and what we are going to do. To put the Nigerian economy back on a sound footing, we have to take a holistic look at SMEs because only then will you rescue the dwindling economy.
“We need to change the way we do things in this country if we ever hope to come out of this economic quagmire we have found ourselves in. We must change the way we do things in this country or we will continue to grope in the dark.”

Government Agric Efforts Crash Prices of Food Items in Lagos
ON DECEMBER 17, 20185
Various government efforts at revamping agriculture may have started yielding results as prices of tomatoes and pepper have reduced in major markets in Lagos. God’s market… A survey by NAN on Monday at Mile 12, Oyingbo and Iddo markets showed that a 40kg basket of tomatoes goes for N5,000, from its previous price of N10, 000 in November and N29, 000 in July.
A 50 kg basket of ‘tatashe’ (pepper) decreased from N14, 000 to N8, 000, while a basket of chilli pepper (rodo) also dropped from N13, 000 to N8, 000.
Mr Femi Odusanya, spokesperson of Mile 12 Market Perishable Foods Traders Association, said that government’s efforts in agriculture might have started yielding positive results on the prices of food.
“About two to three years ago, fertilizer, a major farming input, was sold at about N10,000 to N12, 000, but now fertilizer goes for about N6500 in the market.
“Some state governments in the North are giving tractors to farmers free of charge to plough their land and also access to improved seedlings. “Definitely, all these have impacted, one way or the other, in reducing cost of production for most farmers and the result is now evident for all to benefit from,” he said. Odusanya said that prices of the commodities might even reduce further before Christmas, due to the increasing supply from about 80 trucks to 120 trucks daily to the market. Our cost of transaction, fees, attractive — SEC boss He urged government to sustain efforts and also invest more in mechanized farming to boost food production and sufficiency in the country.
However, price of a jute bag of onions increased from N28,000 to N35,000 while one kilogramme of frozen chicken and turkey goes for N1,000 and N1,100, respectively. Live chicken is sold for between N3,500 and N6, 000, depending on their sizes. Also, a 50kg bag of rice ranges between N16, 500 and N22, 000, depending on the brand, a 25 litres of palm oil goes for N11, 500, while a measurement of “garri’’ cost N380. Some of the traders also attributed the drop in the prices of food to the massive supply of food items occasioned by harvest season. (NAN)
