He needlessly slowed down the attack, gave the ball away or the attack simply came to a halt.

Drogba was useless against Inter. His first touch was abysmal.
He couldn't control nada and he kept giving the ball away time n time again.

People talk about Berba/Anelka slowing down the attack. . . . .This is because they will rather keep possession than make hurried/hopeless passes that will end up going to the opponents. Brilliant players don't give the ball away like Drogba, Tevez and all your favourite all-action players.
