Is this an excuse?  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

That we can't defend a goal so we should not bother and then bring in a hopeless striker when we have a CM and AM in centre of midfield and Greece just brought in a striker?

ADMIT IT! LAGERBACK MESSED UP HIS SUBS!  grin grin grin grin grin
He didn't mess up ONE JOT!!!

Odems went off, Obasi came on.
That's a smart tactical switch in ma opinion.

The objective was to keep the shape. 4-4-1.
5-3-2 woulda been suicidal. Lagerback's tactical substitution restricted the Greeks to long-distance shots(it worked)!!
It also gave us the chance to counter on a break - that was the chance Obasi and Yakubu missed even when we were a man down.

5-3-2 wouldn't have afforded us such luxury.

Klose was innocent in the two yellow cards given to him, they are not yellow cards at all.
He wasn't innocent. . . . .
They are all tackles from behind. . . .Bookable offences.

Klose's demeanour while making both tackles are like a 10yr old football academy student playing to coaches instruction not to foul anybody but yet trying to work hard to genuinely win the ball.
Ryan Shawcross had the same demeanour when he broke Ramsey's foot in the Premier League.
Demeanour plays no part. . . .the INTENT is the KEY.

I feel so sorry for Klose and I hope Germany does well.

Ozeil is a very good player but they may need to sacrifice him as Germany needs more mobile players now.
Cacau should come on for Ozeil
I hate players who get sent off for such.
Klose knew he was on a YELLOW. . . . . . .He should be the last player on that pitch snapping at the heels of defenders.
He was warned but he didn't listen. He deserved the RED.

Have you also noticed that The German coach has not made a change despite losing a player?

Thats because when you lose a player in the first half, you only need to change the shape and trust your players to be intelligent enough to adjust rather than waste a substitution.
If Sagamite was the German manager, he woulda made 3 subs. . . . .

How can we start defending a goal from the 34th minute of the game? Are we Cameroun or Italy of the early 90s?
Sagamite is on a WIND-UP. grin cheesy

Nigeria should start defending from the 34 min because they were a GOAL up and a MAN short. grin
It's highly laughable.

Sagamite:
This has NOTHING to do with hindsight. The minute he brought on Obasi that was rubbish in first game for Odems, ODEMS, that changed our attack vs Arg, I was wondering what was going on. Especially when Greece just brought in a striker. I was already thinking of Ayila that can play CB or DM.
He brought on Odems at the start of the 2nd half.
Kaita lost his mind in the 34th minute or so. . . . . .Did Odems cover himself in glory throughout the first half?

What positive contribution did he make? No through balls, he didn't even beat his marker once, he had no crosses in the box.
He kept fannying about like a scared antelope. . . . . .

So Lagerback is allowed hindsight but Amodu is not?  grin grin grin grin
Did Amodu lose to Egypt and Ghana because we had a player sent off?
Did Amodu lose to Egypt and Ghana because we wasted 2 substitutions in the same position?
Amodu is a cretinous vermin that shouldn't even be discussed in the elite punditry.

Explain to me WHY it was Obasi that came in. What was the tacticla nous for that?

Oh, please don't make me laugh.  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

This is a joke abi? This is that witty Sauron we hear about? Odems can not control Jabulani but Obasi could?  grin grin grin
Obasi made use of the ball more than Odems in this tournament.
There's no question about that. Of course, Odems is the better player but he has not covered himself in glory in this tourney.
He has been a waste of space IMO.

Even if Yak was not to be removed Obasi is the tactical nous we need to defend as dayokanu claimed.
So the job of the defenders doubled and you bring in a centre forward?
So you are saying LGBK selected unfit players to take to WC?  grin grin grin grin grin
There's no FIT player in Nigeria. . . . .There i said it.
Look at the pile of w@nk we call players. Apart from Enyeama, others seem to lack that agility to turn and burst into speed like their counterparts.
It's a shame really but what Lagerback has to work with what is available.
He had only THREE WEEKS to assemble his chosen players and make them play together - Amodu had MANY YEARS.

Even if Adeleye does not do well, at least I will see the sense of bringing in defensive play when we were ONE GOAL UP, one man down and our opponents just increased their attacking play.
There was no reason to be defensive in the 46th minute.
We were one goal up, Taiye Taiwo was still running very well and Osaze had tucked back into the midfield.
As at then, we were playing a flat 4-4-1. What's the point in playing 5 defenders? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Use one sub to see how long we can hold on to the goal, then use the other 2 to see if you need to change strategy and attack again.
When Odems went off, which we still do not know the reason or tactics behind that, HE BROUGHT IN A STRIKER. Abi I lie?
U LIED. . . . .
He brought in a winger/midfielder to keep the shape(4-4-1).
Form 2 banks of 4 and squeeze the Greeks out. . . . .This is why the Greeks kept taking long distance shots that Enyeama dealt with comfortably.

If he was bringing in defence why bring in a striker, why waste one sub option?
U lost me here. . . . . . .
He brought in a defender when Taiye got injured - that couldn't have been in his plans.
Taiye Taiwo forced his hands to bring in Echejile and Mr Echejile also went off after 5 mins

Obasi's introduction was a moronic substitution that cost us the game as we NEEDED to defend a goal as long as possible since our defence now had, as you admitted, double the work to do. Doublde the work, increase the defence.
4-4-1 is surer than 5-3-1.
U cannot play with 3 midfielders against a team that has numerical advantage.
Go and engage your Football Manager very well. . . . . . . .The Koreans tried it against Brazil and they paid dearly for it cos Maicon got all the space to cause HAVOC. 3 midfielders would make you narrow. . . . .and they will be stretched apart creating spaces in the centre.

We lost because of:

1) Kaita's insanity

2) Lagerback's lame substitution
I disagree. . . . .

Sagamite's mind is made up. . . . . .If we had won yesterday, he would still have found flaws in the match.
What he fails to understand is. . . . There's no perfect match. I could pick 200 flaws from the German team when they hammered the Aussies 4-0.

Nigeria were grossly unlucky but Kaita's indiscipline was the harbinger.
I am sure Taiye wouldn't have gotten himself crocked if he wasn't busting his gut and over-labouring himself when we were down to 10 men.

E go better for you!

E go better for you!

E GO BETTER FOR YOU!

I wanted all of them to finish lamely defending their Oyinbo before I went into this same tactics. I was toying with them to have laughs.
All these E GO BETTER FOR YOU lines are hindsight analysis.
Osaze was a pile of w@nk in this tournament - you are all judging him from his potentials and not his recent performances in the world cup.

OPTION A
Fcking remove Yakubu and push Odems forward as lone striker. He can score ALMOST as well as Yakubu, he is faster and can dribble, so he can hold on to the ball against 4 defenders.
You are leading 1-nil, bring in another DM for Yak. Haruna and Uche can work in the midfield and be the only 2 joining attacks.
Osaze that couldn't control the JABULANI is the player you wanna play as a lone striker? I laugh in Creole.
There's a reason Yakubu starts most games. It's not necessarily because he is better or faster. . . .but be cause he's a battling ram that would take the pressure, engage two centre-backs and lay off simple passes to his team-mates. Something Osaze did not show throughout.

If you do not want to take Yak off, take Haruna off and replace with Ayila. At this stage of calamity, you need your experienced hands, not Obasi. You defensive walls to start with. To see how long you can defend your one goal for. Ayila is Champions League regular. One of the strongest reasons to remove Haruna was that he is (1) he is inexperienced and (2) we all know he is hot headed enough to even pick up another red, or if yellow, that would weaken his ability to get stuck in. Play 4-4-1 with 2 DMs.
Nigeria lost because Sani Kaita lost his brains. . . . . .Up until that moment, the Eagles were coasting towards a well-deserved victory.
As soon as Kaita went off, The Greeks added an extra striker(Samaras) and the job of the defenders doubled up.
The timing of the RED CARD also meant UNFIT players laboured for 60 mins to contain 11 fit Greek players. The result was inevitable.

OPTION B
If you cannot do that, then bring in Adeleye for Yak or even Odems, play 5 at the back. Let them shoot from distance against a keeper that is quality.
And what makes you think Adeleye woulda done anything credible in the game.
U keep branding names. . . . . .Had Lagerback subbed Yakubu instead of Odemwingie and we still lost, you would be saying the same thing.
This is HINDSIGHT ANALYSIS at it's best. . . . . .It cannot wash with me.
Taiye Taiwo's injury dashed the final hopes Nigeria coulda had cos his substitution meant no tactical input can be injected.

Let the CBs keep shape (Yobo and Shittu) and Adeleye chases and blocks anything coming within 3 yards of the box and helps the full backs out. He is fast, energetic and very aware of threats. No one can outrun him. Play 5 in defence and 3 in midfield and 1 in offensive midfielder stroke striker. Let them shoot from distance which they are poor at.
So easy to say that Adeleye would chase against the Greeks.
As at the time Odems went off, what is to say Lagerback didn't intend to introduce Adeleye like you said.
U forgot Taiye Taiwo got injured and his replacement got injured again - that is 2 substitutions WASTED out of THREE and you dare criticize Lagerback. Are you saying he shoulda factored Taiye Taiwo getting himself injured and his replacement also getting crocked?

HE BROUGHT OBASI IN! JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE! FCKIN JOKE!
Obasi's introduction did not cost us the game.

We lost because of:-

Kaita's insanity.
Taiye Taiwo's injury
Echejile's injury.

We wasted 2 players in one position(Left Back). . . . .If we weren't so unlucky, those 2 subs woulda been TACTICAL instead of trying to replace an injured player in the LEFT BACK POSITION - A position that needed to be plugged but won't necessarily give us a GOAL.

That one pass is all you saw and decided he was involved.

And you try to blame yakubu that made a great run and stayed on side, then placed it to a corner still on target but keeper made a good save.

But want to let Obasi of the hook (because he is a LGBK sub  grin) for missing an EMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPTY NET?
Osaze had 60+ world cup minutes to make such a pass and he never had one.
Remember the game against Argentina. . . . . .Odems and Martins against an Argie defender and a goalie?
All Odems had to do was roll the ball to Martins and Naija woulda equalised but what did Odems do? He tried to do it all by himself.
Siasia did the same in 93(against CIV) and lost his place in the starting XI under Westerhof.

Odems has been USELESS in this tourney.

Obasi was more involved in the grand scheme of things.
He supplied Yakubu with a tasty pass but FATKUBU(with acres of space ahead of him) fluffed his lines when he coulda chipped the goalie.
The rebound fell to Obasi who lacked the composure to bury the ball into the net.

He had his opportunity to prove his mettle and he squandered it.
I dunno what is wrong with the nappy-head. . . . . . .The match went past him and i cannot remember him making any positive contribution.

The red card mucked Nigeria and Taiye Taiwo's injury put paid to any tactical susbstitution Lagerback woulda made.
Echejile(Taiye's sub) got crocked too and this is why we didn't see any striker coming on even though we needed to score.
In other words, Sani Keita should shoulder ALL the blame. Up until he lost his senses - Naija were cruising.
