You need to understand the lady's point too. She has suitors; she can easily settle for any.

If you were a lady, and a guy is all around you playing nice guy, won't you be bothered? Op needs to be sure of the exact signal he's sending.

I don't think it's a desperate move. Op is ready for marriage. Many suitors are coming for her. However, there's a guy from her church that has been hanging around her, communicating with her, being a nice guy, but has not said anything. Op seems to prefer this guy to other suitors.

Maybe the guy has a problem expressing his feelings. Maybe he's just being a nice guy/ nice brother. I think the Op needs her doubts to be cleared. This will enable her take a stand on the suitors coming for her.

She needs to do it tactically without sounding desperate. I don't think she's desperate. She's just unclear about what's on the guy's mind.

You may be surprised but it's possible in his mind, he thinks they're "dating", since he calls her very often, and provides for her too.

I think you were actually foolish.

Second, no matter what, even if you killed person, you would have told them you're not doing anything further at the station until your lawyer arrives. Knowing how lawless Nigeria has become, you should always have at least two lawyer contacts that can come to your aid within a short notice.

Finally, get a lawyer and take up the issue. Track the group that arrested you. You already have a lead: the account you transferred to belongs to a human being. That person is one of them. Don't stop until they come back to start begging you, or they lose their job. When they come to settle with you, you can ask for a million Naira, and they'll start negotiating from there.
