segzy14:Thanks for offering to 'HELP' - however as an Architect I know what's standard. Please find attached page 184 of Architects Data which requires 700mm + 50mm (frame) for ancillary spaces e.g toilet, stores etc and 900mm for front doors. Architecture is not about what people use, its about standards and professionalism... thanks again Sir. cc: Dembuk2009, Rubbiish

Dembuk2009:Thanks ma.. we appreciate your comments and commitment to use our services.... Namaste ![]() cadsolutions2009@gmail.com |
@ Rubbiish - your sincere and matured criticism is welcome and appreciated... Nice meeting me.. ![]() |
Rubbiish:Nice point made here...... #ThumpUp.. Its possible to extend sideways but not forward because of land. I'll adjust asap |
Rubbiish:Client's Brief Sir.... |
segzy14:Sir.... Its not a competition... I'm here to share and gain knowledge and ensure my clients get the best... To answer ur question - Yes (with an arrow labeled up or with a +150mm etc label and no arrow) If my answer above is wrong.. Kindly share how.. I'm willing to learn also. |
segzy14:The double line u see is the thickness of the rail and the 1st line is the change in level also clearly stated with the arrow and stairs up label.. Thanks for your concerns.. |
Chukazu:It's a swampy area below water level... |
segzy14:Kindly Zoom in... . Its label RAIL not a wall... I just want to relax and learn from comments so I won't reply again... |
Rubbiish:If it's enclosed... Yes But in this design, it's not enclosed..... No wall, no door and the dining has a direct line of air flow from the living room front windows |

Teewhy2:Thanks Teewhy2.. I designed my tutorials in a way beginners can get it. No one can learn cost estimation in one topic, so I limited this tutorial to ASBESTOS and PVC only.. The accessories na Ceiling 201... Lol Thanks again. |
Good-Day - Last class we learnt how to calculate the numbers of block needed for a project; if you missed that its available here >> https://www.nairaland.com/4191428/how-calculate-how-many-blocks I'll be taking us on calculating the quantity and approximate cost of Asbestos ceiling sheet and PVC ceiling for a mini-flat (I have attached a plan for this purpose) and as usual our measurement would be done using the standard millimeter (mm) and meters (m) mode of measuring. Note: If you're not familiar with the millimeters / meters tape, then find time to learn it or request for a tutorial in the comment box. It would have been ideal to start with measuring roofing sheet but I decided to take a more simple task of measuring ceiling sheets so as to prepare us for the next and more complex task of measuring the roofing sheet... (lets get to business) Things to do: 1. If you're measuring from your Architectural drawings, then ensure the basic dimensions are clear i.e the length and breath of each space. 2. If you're measuring from an existing project (i.e on site) write out all the spaces on a paper and write the dimension of each space before it e.g BEDROOM = 3600mm by 3600mm OR 3.6m by 3.6m (millimeter or meters) 3. Well, the next thing to note is identify the particular ceiling sheet you plan to use and its standard size (length and breath) e.g Asbestos ceiling sheet = 1200mm by 1200mm; PVC ceiling = 5,950mm by 250m and POP board = 600mm by 600mm. If you're using any other ceiling board, just get the size. Once the information above is gotten, you can proceed to calculating how much board you'll need per space. There are 2 methods of calculating the quantities - use whichever you find easier (we would calculate the living room using both methods and calculate others using only one of the methods). Now to business. 1. MATERIALS NEEDED FOR LIVING ROOM (using ASBESTOS 1200mm by 1200mm) Living Room: Method One (Area) This method simply implies finding the area of the space in question and diving it by the area of ceiling material to find out how many is needed. Living Room = 3.9 x 4.5 = 17.55m2 Area of materials = 1.2 x 1.2 = 1.44m2 Hence: if 1 board = 1.44m2 how many board is in 17.55m2 = 17.55 / 1.44 = 12.19 boards = 13 boards (because you cannot buy 0.1 board, you have to buy 1 full board) Lets use method Two: Living Room: Method Two (L by B) This method is a bit complex where the ceiling material isn't a square, it just needs a bit more care. Size of Living Room; L= 3.9m by B=4.5m Size of Ceiling Material; l= 1.2 by b= 1.2 Now Divide L by l and B by b = 3.9 / 1.2 and 4.5 /1.2 (just divide the upper nos by the nos below it) = 3.25 and 3.75 (now multiple both) = 3.25 x 3.75 = 12.19 = 13 boards. Simple right ? but lets solve using method two only for PVC ceiling of size 5.95m by 0.25m below. 1. MATERIALS NEEDED FOR LIVING ROOM (using PVC 5,950mm by 250mm) Size of Living Room; L= 3.9m by B=4.5m Size of Ceiling Material; l= 5.95 by b= 0.25 Now Divide L by l and B by b = 3.9 / 5.95 and 4.5 /0.25 (just divide the upper nos by the nos below it) = 0.66 and 18 (now multiple both) = 0.66 x 18 = 11.88 = 12 pieces. Simple right? You should try same using the Area method also. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO ENSURE YOU GET THE RIGHT SIZE OF YOUR CEILING MATERIAL FROM YOUR LOCAL MARKET OR TRUSTED SOURCE (NOT GOOGLE) because THE GOOGLED SIZE MIGHT NOT BE AVAILABLE IN YOUR REGION. Now that we know the principles - Let's quickly find out how many of the 1.2m by 1.2 asbestos board we would need. Terrace = (5.06 / 1.44) = 4 pcs Living Room = (17.55 / 1.44) = 13 pcs Kitchen = (10.8 / 1.44) = 8 pcs Store = (4.02 / 1.44) = 3 pcs Bedroom 1 = (12.96 / 1.44) = 9 pcs Bedroom 2 = (12.96 / 1.44) = 9 pcs Toi / Bath = (2.97 / 1.44) = 3 pcs Space b4 Bedroom = (1.35 / 1.44) = 1 pc HENCE TOTAL = 50 pcs only - Normally there is no waste for this material (or ideally we have added it into the calculation when we approximated to the nearest whole number; Hence buy only 50 pcs + 1 more = 51 pcs only. COST OF ASBESTOS BOARD.... Presently Nigerite Asbestos goes for between N1,400 - N1,500 per one; hence: 51 pcs x N1,500 = N76.5k (always add for transportation to site) OKAY!!! - Thanks for following, practice using other ceiling materials and ask questions. (Our next class would be calculating roofing sheet) cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44

bugativeron:A quotation of 2 million.. . That must be a very big project.. Back to your question, we use flat roof and except you're NOT doing it to standard it shd cost more than the aluminum roofing... Can u share ur roof design? Check out my signature |
Lagos shd copy same.. check my signature out |
maybe u shd attach a picture of the property also...... goodluck |
tomsy2:YES, i expected you would get land in a cheaper region - if the money is managed well with a lot of discipline; good (you know how money is, once its in hand; diff things pop up) why not as suggested let the buyer have the original documents - then invite a lawyer to draft an agreement that he holds the paper for xyz reasons and wld be required to to return them once his papers are ready. Lastly - If all options fail - Follow your mind; when there is health, there is wealth..... HEALTH FIRST. Thanks |

sad news - we have to be observant always - RIP |
tomsy2:Hi, 10m would not be enough to get you a new land, and build back - ideally, yes 10 min might build you a decent 3 bedroom flat but realistically, it wont considering how developed that area has becomee.... I'll advice you wait a bit more for your buyer and ignore those trying to eject you out of your property stylishly. WHY NOT GET ALL THE RELEVANT PAPERS FOR THE SUBDIVISION AND THEN SELL AFTERWARD (Cost of acquiring those papers can be added to the initial cost) goodluck |
