Politics / Re: Nigeria To Buy 12 Attack Helicopters From Russia by SayginSA: 9:41pm On Oct 24, 2019
idealogical:

Stop lying, they buy weapons all the time, even their Gripens are foreign imports with zero SA input.
they were bought in 1990s due to people wanting to steal state money, also they were assembled and modified locally. Their missiles are made by our Denel Dynamic, here in the capital... In the 21st century South Africa will never import weapons. If we want something we build it ourself. We are currently testing armed military drones and have build unarmed military drones. The missiles in our submarines, warships, jets, attack helicopters,anti-tank tanks,anti-aircraft systems, etc are local made. We have weapon factories everywhere (from Cape Town to Pretoria).

South Africa will never buy weapons from Russia, because we don't import weapons. We only enter in joint ventures with foreign weapon companies,to use their skills/knowledge to develop our own locally. Also we are an exporter of weapons. Non-western,chinese and russian weapons,in Algeria,Saudi Arabia,UAE,Iran, etc arsenal are South African designed and made (especially personel carriers and missiles) . UN's attack/Escort helicopters, are South African designed, build and operated. India anti-material rifles are licenced copies of our NTW Anti material rifle. Only joint ventures that result in weapon factories in SA will happen, but definately not buying. Denel (State Owned Company) Ltd and Armscor (SOC) Ltd and Universities have enough capacity and skills to arm our army.

Crime / Re: 119 Nigerians On Death Row In Malaysia For Drug Offences, Others by SayginSA: 5:48pm On Oct 11, 2019
PureFace1:
Nigeria currently has the highest number of foreigners who have been sentenced to death in Malaysia.

A new report by Amnesty International, a human rights organisation, has revealed that 119 Nigerians are currently on death row in Malaysia.
The death penalty is currently retained as the punishment for 33 offences in the Asian country and is mandatory for 12 of these, according to the report, "Fatally flawed: Why Malaysia must abolish the death penalty".

As of February 2019, Amnesty reported, a total of 1,281 people were on death row in Malaysia, including 568 (44%) foreign nationals.

Of these foreign nationals, 21% are Nigerians, with others from Indonesia (16%), Iran (15%), India (10%), Philippines (8%) and Thailand (6%) and other countries.

73% of the total 1,281 inmates on death row were convicted for drug trafficking, while 25% were convicted for murder. The remaining were convicted for offences related to the use of firearms, robbery, and waging war against the King or Ruler of a State.

Amnesty's report showed that those on death row for drug trafficking were frequently convicted after they were found in possession of and transporting relatively small quantities of drugs without having committed or being involved in any form of violence.

They are also classified as people at the low-end of the drug chain (drug couriers) who often claim to have been tricked, lured, or forced into the drug trade.

In its report, Amnesty documented many violations of international human rights law and standards associated with the use of the death penalty in Malaysia.

"Our research found a pattern of unfair trials and secretive hangings that itself spoke volumes. From allegations of torture and other ill-treatment to an opaque pardons process, it's clear the death penalty is a stain on Malaysia's criminal justice system," said Shamini Darshni Kaliemuthu, Executive Director of Amnesty International Malaysia.

In July 2018, the Malaysian government established a moratorium on executions, a temporary prohibition that means the convicts won't have their sentences carried out.

Even though the government previously committed to a full abolition of the death penalty, it is expected to soon table legislation in the Malaysian Parliament that'll remove the mandatory death penalty for only 11 offences.

Amnesty called on the government to completely abolish the death penalty for all crimes and review all cases where people have been sentenced to death, with a view to commuting the sentences.

"Malaysia has a golden chance to break with decades of cruelty and injustice, disproportionately inflicted on some of the most marginalised," said Kaliemuthu.

and Nigerians wonder why they're dislike or hated,in almost every country on earth! In South Africa they make no less than 5-20% of the total prison population. And since there is a call for death penalty to be brought back, they will definately make majority of foreigners executed here too. Is seems like crime is in your DNA (That's for majority of you guys)

Science/Technology / Re: What Nigeria Is Losing For Killing Mountain Gorillas – Expert by SayginSA: 4:20pm On Oct 07, 2019
Pulsenaija:

A professor of Wildlife Resources Management, Herpetology and International Management consultant, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom
State, Edem Eniang, has lamented the rate at which mountain gorillas are being hunted as bushmeat in Nigeria.

He regretted that instead of the government making conscious efforts to generate ecotourism traffic from the viewing such gorillas, their very species which are endemic to Nigeria are being hunted and their habitat destroyed.

Eniang who stated this in his office in Uyo, the state capital on Friday, said Nigeria despite being the third richest country in terms of primate species diversity in Africa, was yet to harness the enormous potentials from the sub-sector.

He said while countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo DRC are earning billions of dollars in foreign exchange from mountain gorillas based eco-tourism alone, Nigeria with its very rare and critically endangered species of gorilla globally recognised as Cross River gorillas which is a distinct sub-species of Western Lowland gorilla and endemic to Nigeria /southwestern Cameroon are being hunted for food as bushmeat.

According to Enaing, “Nigeria is losing billions of Dollars for not making conscious efforts to develop the wildlife-based eco-tourism subsector.
In Uganda, an average of one thousand dollars is paid per person on the average to view mountain gorillas for just an hour.

“But Nigeria has a unique species of gorilla, that is, the Cross River gorilla found in four localities of Cross River State namely; Afi mountain wildlife sanctuary, Mbe mountain, Okwangwo sector of Cross River National Park and Obudu escarpment near the Obudu Cattle Ranch/Resort though down at the moment.

“So what conscious effort has the relevant governments/agencies made at the moment to generate eco-tourism traffic of the country based on this critically endangered great ape?

“We must appreciate the fact that this all-important species of Ape have been given to us as heritage, rather people are shooting them and destroying their habitats instead of conserving them to generate much-needed revenue as done in some parts of East and Central Africa.”

The neglect of the sector, the professor said has scared away potential investors, adding that a Japanese Primate Research Organization had invested in many countries of Africa such as Uganda, Congo DRC and Rwanda for up to 60 years in gorillas and Chimpanzees, shunning Nigeria and indeed West Africa with rarer species of those great apes.

He called on both the Federal and state governments and relevant agencies to take urgent positive steps and take stock of all the globally important wildlife species and draw a Nigeria eco-tourism map that shows direction and pinpoint the localities of all the site of eco-tourism potentials as well as how to access them.

The Professor also called on the Akwa Ibom State Government to take advantage of the numerous endemic wildlife species found in the state and establish either a Biosphere or Game reserve to boost Wildlife conservation and Eco-tourism in the state.

I know Nigeria is one of the poorest nations on earth, with the largest extreme powerty and the poorest oil producing nation. But has it gotten that bad, that you must eat everything (from monitor lizards, pythons, snails, apes, dolphins, dogs, etc) ? Even China have limits. What happens when you have eaten all apes? Will you start eating each other, because anyone who eat apes is capable and have a taste for humans?

why can't your government introduce hunting laws, like is done in South Africa,Botswana,Mozambique,Namibia,USA,UK and other 'civilised' world? Let people have license to hunt for pleasure and teach them about conservation,so they know when to hunt, how many they can kill, etc. Are Nigerians incapable to think beyond today? (I believe in Nigeria, people hunt mainly for food/survival not for pleasure. But even Zimbabweans as poor as they're they know and respect the importance of wildlife)

Why does he keep meeting SA officials? What's the benefits with such rubbish leaders. Why are we even keeping diplomatic relationship with South Africans. Other Africans are cutting ties with them because of Xenophobia but Buhari could care less what they did to Nigerians.
which African country is cutting relations with South Africa? Morocco tried that after we backed West Sahara, guess what they still bought are weapons and other goods. Madagascar by cancelling the match, was trying to get attention of SA-which they believe is not recognising them. South Africa has strong relation with their neighbours,Seychelles and Mauritius, who's economies are reaping rewards of that relations (if you check properties prices and their stock market, you will see that they're quoted in South African Rand and sometimes Rupees too). They want a share of forever increase South African middle class' money through tourism. As for Zambia, they are already begging for SA to supply them with electricity and food prices are sky rocketing there as we speak. As for DRC they want us to increase our aid to them, through wrong chanels. SA can live with non neighbouring African states, but Africa can't live without SA tech, investment, aid, etc.

you simply dont understand Nigeria, one thing is that in Nigeria the government is very ineffective, decades of coups and dictatorships also hampered nigerias progress, but the ordinary private society as come a long way without government support, most developments in nigeria are private built, also most very poor nigerians who fill up these statistics are northerners who dont even travel, they are the majority poor who make nigeria to have its bad poverty rating and they dont even travel, nigeria is not underdeveloped like its mostly portrayed just that government is ineffective and deliberately do not build infrastructure and take care of the environment, nigeria is just terribly mismanaged by its government, the population also is a factor, india despite its massive economy as millions of poor
well Nigeria will continue to collapse due low IQ of majority of Nigerians, who vote based on tribal and religious affiliations. In South Africa we had such, but government quickly crashed it. And rallied all black South Africans under South African name, instead of tribal affilliation. Yes there are tribalists, but they have little support and power,as we see our selves as South Africans first before any tribal affilliation and also due to high inter tribal marriages. Also our government doesn't spend money on people, who want to go to a place to throw stone at a black block. Or money on Foreign expensive hospitals for our politicians, when president is sick or need medical attention-he is send to military hospital in our Capital, called Military 1 Hospital (for injured soldiers and top two government officials). Even when politicians steal they spend almost of their loot in the country, rather than send it to Europe like Nigerians do.

rather encourage them to stay in Nigeria and breed less. Because a Nigerian in South Africa will resot to crime,as they will have very few opportunities even if they're educated. Due to their reputation for scams. In the late 1990s and early 2000s,majority of nigerians who were given opportunities based on their degrees. Were found to have faked those qualifications. So nigerian degrees are as worthless as naira and used toilets. The more nigerians come to SA and turn to crime, the more they will be hated or disliked. As for Cyrial,he will be the first south african president to be impeached or taken out of office by the people. (Soon you are going to see anti government protests,if he continue with the bs of putting interest of putting Africa and ANC,above South Africa and her citizens. Family / Re: My Wife Tricked Into Marrying Her After Discovering She is HIV Positive by SayginSA: 5:47pm On Sep 27, 2019
Hobbsandshaw:
I need mature advice from nairalanders.

I got married to my wife December,2015. The marriage is now blessed with two boys, the 2nd boy came last month.

The issue now is that I just discovered my wife is HIV positive during this 2nd pregnancy. The woman that I showed so much love tricked me into marrying her knowing fully well that she was HIV positive. I'm not really angry because she is HIV positive,I'm angry because she has been playing me all along.

She was in the Uni in another state while we were dating.Almost to the end of her study in 2014, she called that she was pregnant after I visited. She came to Lagos with PT and scan results to prove her claim. She then pressured me into paying her bride price before the pregnancy become public. We did our traditional marriage and went to the registry.Months after the marriage,my wife said the pregnancy has mysteriously disappeared, blaming it on "village people",but the gentle man in me didn't allow me to read any meaning to the movie. She tricked me into marrying her with the fake pregnancy after discovering she is HIV positive.

She eventually took in(for real this time),she came back from antenatal one afternoon crying, when I enquired what the issue was, she told me that they booked her for C-SECTION,that the doctor said the baby's weight is below 2kg and will almost be impossible for her to have the baby by herself,I was there consoling her not knowing that the doctor opted for C-SECTION because she is HIV positive. She actually told them not to disclose her status to me.The baby was 3.6kg at birth. My son was giving Nevirapine.I did some search and discovered that the drug is an antiretroviral drug,I became worried but I still played it down.

Her lid finally blew when she started antenatal for this my 2nd son in a different hospital, maybe she might have thought to herself that at this point there is nothing I will do any more, she told me that the doctor referred her to a government hospital for HIV confirmatory test.We went and did the test,I don't know the trick she played this time, the result was non reactive for her, me and our son.I went to the hospital and made Alot of noise,we went home and celebrated.Seven months later, she had an accident and was admitted, the doctor not satisfied with result of our confirmatory test, took her sample and send it to one of the best labs in Lagos, all the kits shows she was reactive.Because of the scene I created earlier, the doctor called me and showed me the result. That was when I started playing back to the first pregnancy scam, the rush for the marriage and the Nevirapine that was giving to my first son and I discovered I was being fooled by this woman all along.

This woman has hid her status from me and have been taking drugs under my nose for over five years without me knowing.I and my boy have gone for test twice at seven months interval and we are confirmed negative. I was told at one teaching hospitals I went for the test last month that maybe I'm just lucky or we are "discordant couple"
I have been expecting her to show remorse, and maybe apologize but she is still doing as if nothing happened.

I can't discuss this with my family or even hers, she will be stigmatize.I feel betrayed,I don't know how long I will stay in this marriage, but then I'm concerned about my boys. I'm afraid she might get desperate and try other means to infect me,I don't trust her.
What should I do?
if what you are saying is true, then you are lying when you say you are HIV negative. Also what kind of hospital system is that allows you to be exposed to such a danger? Don't you have Social workers in Nigerian hospitals? In such situation in SA,hospital stuff would have gotten social workers would have interven. Dude stop lying to yourself that you are negative ,go to a private hospital and get a proper tests. Also if she was breastfeeding your son, then get him tested too and tell her not to breastfeed your new baby (if you both test negative, then your wife is HIV nefative too). Test every three months for a year,to be 100% sure. There is no single human being who is immune to HIV,not even those with strong immune systems.

With the drought they're experiencing it will get even worse, that a revolution my take place. Some companies are thinking of reducing production,as a their government humbly approached our government begging that we supply them with electricity (In hope that will lower production input and make end products much cheaper). Just pray Iranian sanctions don't get lifted or americans give us permission to buy their oil in the sea ,because we will once again go buy their crude oil.

…say we cannot go home empty-handed

In South Africa,Botswana and Namibia,Nigerian university qualifications are not recognized. In South Africa will have to start afresh by doing a certificate at Unisa ,then redo your qualification. That's many resort to crime (drug dealing, scamming, human trafficking, females to prostitution, etc). Thanks to fake Nigerian graduates who were given opportunities inthe late 1990s to early2000s. They will also be chased from those countries soon when they resume their Businesses' there. There sooner Nigerians accept that 9,5 in 10 foreign Nigerians, are criminals damaging image of Nigeria the better. In the future you will end up being banned from Most of the countries

You must be a kid.

Go to bed
I understand, you are probably wishing that your country had an army like that. Instead of cowards that bully and kill civillians daily, but in the battle field with armed equals they either get killed or ran aways. Just imagine a soldier changing into civilian clothes and ran away, instead of fighting expecially against the enemies of his country and government? Maybe you mass import men from Ghana and Sudan to serve in your army,to replace those manbabies or simply field your local ladies.

Breaking news ;

South Africa is one of the worlds most violent countries even without Boko Haram or any major crisis, imagine what would happen if there were to be a major terror crisis, South Africa will become unliveable.

I have dozens of white South African friends here in the UK who have fled that miserable country because of the high crime rates and rape epidemic perpetrated by black South Africans.

We often discuss that SA is a DANGEROUS and very UNSAFE place to LIVE IN.

that's because we have an ARMY,that's why no such bs will happens. We(President Mandela) trained and armed M23 and other rebels in the late 1990s. after they served our and CIA purpose,we asked them to return our weapons and they refused. Guess what? We send our Army in DRC and slaughtered them, one of our sniper soldier even made a world record. By shooting one of the rebel at over TWO KILOMETRES away, making it the 6th longest kill in the world usong Denel NTW 14,5 anti material sniper rifle designed and made by our state owned Denel-a rifle indians have since copied (only British,America,Canadian and South African armies have such bregging rights). We also asked your government if we can help in dealing with Boko Haram, but due to pride issues they refuse. Last month our military convoy was ambushed in Central Africa region, they managed to fight back and still continue to their destination with no injuries at all. In July some Mozambiquan soldiers decided to fire shoots at them from their boarder, they return fire killing 2 of them and sending the rest of them running. South African National Defence Forces doesn't entertain rubbish and doesn't kill protestors or civilians,it's a terrorist killing 'machine' that our country and key allies(Botswana,Namibia,Mozambique,Mauritius,DRC,Lesotho,Zimbabwe,Malawi and Swaziland) can always depend. Be it humanitarian aid to spilling blood,is always upto task
