seborrhic:So, are you trying to argue that they've not made rental income from these dilapidated old ramshackle houses since they were built? So, it's time to realize current value of old properties by ripping others off! You have done well by telling us today's cost of building the same type of property, but fact is.."these old huts lack the aesthetics and modern facilities today's properties of N50mil will give you" Again, you have not factored in depreciation, wear and tear, safety (many of them are likely to collapse due to age) etc etc. When you bring in all these factors, many of these properties should even be demolished! They are still standing and used as structures for extortion because of the kind of society we live in, where systems and processes don't work! Go inside many of them and conduct simple inspection, you'll puke. Wires are old, rusty pipes, cracked walls, leaking roofs, etc Irrespective of whatever exchange rate is today, the fact still remains that these properties are over-priced! |
It's quite surprising that properties on that axis are skyrocketing without consideration for current harsh economic realities! Landlords and Agents are mercilessly ripping residents off in that area, as well as neighbourhoods such as Akoka, Gbagada, & Yaba. The high demands for rental apartments by students and staff of higher institutions within that area (UNILAG, YabaTech, FCT Akoka etc) as well as easy access to the Third Mainland bridge actually made the demand even higher. No 3- bedroom flat goes for less than N1mil in these areas mentioned. With Agency and Legal fees, you are spending not less than N1.5mil. The funny thing is that the buildings are extremely old fashioned buildings (as shown in the pics here, without modern floor or wall tiles) and built with less than 500k at the time they were built! |
Op, Clean 2 or 3 bedrooms in serene environment around Akoka. Budget 700-750. Pls not a swampy area and NOT flood prone area. |
350k cash |
Just imagine paying N2m as rent for a miniflat in a street, as old as Ajayi Aina, in Gbagada! I wonder what these Landlords think! ![]() |
DigitB:Economy hard. Pure gold of that size and mass (X number of expected winners in such a huge competition) would be extremely expensive |

Emmy2009:I thought applicants would be expected to fill in only their highest degree? Is there also a need to upload degree transcripts? I haven't gotten to this stage yet, as I'm getting ready to take IELTS, but your questions got me thinking! |
Those two professions are intellectually driven, but the problem is - Nigeria does NOT value intellectuals! They'll rather spend money on entertainers! Lecturers and Doctors earn very paltry income in Nigeria, less than a tenth of what their counterparts in the global north (and in many other global south countries) earn! Apart from the miserable pay, the backlog of unpaid salaries is alarming! this backlog runs into several years in some cases! Industries would rather support Wizkid or Olamide's Concert than fund research! A first-class (best graduating student) gets N5K, whereas BBN winner gets over N85mil! A country where Doctors working round the clock, even during the pandemic are paid N5k ($10)/ month as hazard allowance, whereas TV reality show artists and polithiefians are smiling to the bank! #things have, indeed, fallen apart! |
As far as I'm concerned, what you have just done is practical Christianity! Being a Christian does not begin & end with going to church. Forget whatever turns out as the outcome. You have played your part. The little lad might make some mistakes in the line if his new-found business, but he will learn and improve, and hopefully tell his story someday. I'm sure he won't forget your gesture. If he is in Lagos, and you can give a vivid description of where you found him, pls pm me. Cheers bro! Edited, |
African countries are all the same! Battered by corrupt leaders! |

We have applied for Uniben transcript for my spouse since February. It's quite a Shame that up till now the transcript has not been sent to WES. Efforts to follow up through an insider suggests that some raw scores are missing. The insider has done all within his powers to help get the raw scores to no avail. I think I might have to forget about the UNIBEN transcript and request that WES evaluates her WAEC only as she has no other postgraduate qualifications. Pls is there a way her application to WES can be edited from first degree to high school certificate, so we simply face WAEC and request WAEC to send her SSCE to WES? Nigeria no be country, walahi! |
yungchap:You are not picking calls! Hope all is well sha? |
What's your charges like for VIN check? |
GraciousWords:Offer of a job is mandatory and NOT tradable, except through the UK Talent stream (Global Talent Route), which is extremely difficult! |
Op, just move on! A marriage starting on threats and harassment is no marriage! Imagine bringing armed forces to compel this poor dude into marriage! It speaks a lot about the prospective in-laws, their cantankerous character, and the troublesome would be wife! I hate people who resolve family matters ( which should be a civilian affair) with militarism. Send whatever you can afford occasionally for the child's upbringing and NEVER have anything to do with marrying her, not because you don't have the wherewithal but because they have not demonstrated the capacity to be instruments of peace! What were they expecting the military to do? Throw you into jail? Will you marry or cater for the kid while in jail? Arant nonsense! |
saskatoonguy:Sure I see what you mean. You MUST correct that error! It will potentially affect your application. Do so quickly. |
saskatoonguy:Not much if a problem. UI is correct, it's your perception of the date that needs to change ![]() That's the US style! |
