my brother,initially, i thought the problem is unique to north, until after my serving at loyola college,old ife road,ibadan,oyo state.
Just like you, i am taking ss2 student mathematics, and i ask this question;
zero minus 1, all the class say 1, some are stupid enough to say 2.

My greatest challenge @ loyola is communication as most of d student dont understand english.most of the teachers tought them in yoruba..I could remeber the principal ask ss3 student to write 'i am a boy'. But the boys could not.
I summon alot of courage nd hardwork to install some amount of mathematical disciplne 2 d boys..

If possible, never go 2 church..pray in ur rum.
respect their culture nd religion, thats very vital. Especially religion.
Sometimes, dress like them.
Incase of any crises, stay where u are, calm down, gather as much info abt whts happening as u can (by phone calls), dress like d hausas wid ur cap, proceed 2 d nearest military formation, avoid crowd as they will see ur disguise..
But all in all, zamfara is peacefull compare to other state like kaduna,jos.
