Christianity EtcRe: Meet Woman Who Was Greater Than Virgin Mary In The Bible by Scholar8200(m): 12:13pm On Jun 16, 2015
Alright. The book of Acts shows us how the church started and thankfully, Mary was one of the disciples that waited at the upper room and was baptised with the Holy Spirit.

How come there was no hint of recognition given to her in all the activities in the Acts of the Apostles, nor in the epistles of the apostles?

Even Peter (who you say was a pope) in his two epistles gave not even a faint/disguised allusion to the exaltation of Mary?

Neither did John (called the apostle of Love) to whom the care of Mary was committed, in his three epistles give an implied/express reference to her as being worthy of adoration?

Even angels in Heaven reject man's adoration then whence this strange perspective of Mary held by the RCC?

The only angel who wanted man's worship was cast out and somehow today,he gets it when men worship/ adore with reverence, another human personality!

Christianity EtcRe: Once Saved Always Saved by Scholar8200(m):
The redemption provided through Christ changes us, not God, when we believe.

Exodus 32: 32,33 is not part of the law but a revelation of the Divine Nature.

32 Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—and if not, blot me, I pray You, out of Your book which You have written!
33 But the Lord said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him [not you] out of My book.

The OT and NT states unequivocally, the soul that sins, it shall die/wages of sin is death.

Besides, what then would you say, Op, concerning these people

2 Peter 2:20-21
20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through [the full, personal] knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they again become entangled in them and are overcome, their last condition is worse [for them] than the first.
21 For never to have obtained a [full, personal] knowledge of the way of righteousness would have been better for them than, having obtained [such knowledge], to turn back from the holy commandment which was [verbally] delivered to them.

1. What do you call those who enforce the laws of God?

2. Not completely, like your 3. Says, deliverance from captivity etc. but those conditions applied to muslims, did it not? Did they not migrate at first? And did they like Moses in the end not fight their enemies? But I'd like to see this verse you speak of.

3. See 2.
1. Prophets were those who reiterated God's laws ignored/ abandoned and also declare the Mind of God on current issues and future events, as revealed to them by the Spirit. The responsibility to enforce/obey rests with the listeners.

2. The verses are in Exodus 24:6-8
6 And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” 8 And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.

The highlighted shown two important elements in the OT and also under the New Covenant. There was also a conscious affirmation by the people to the terms thereof.
4. The prophesy speaks of a prophet for the Israelites. And I reiterate, if a prophet is sent for all of mankind, are the Israelites not part of mankind?
The two sentences here are contradictory except if you can from the same OT where Deuteronomy is, show where the promise thus referred will be applicable to all men.

The law was actually the terms of the Covenant (old) and it was in line with the promise made to Abraham . The New Covenant fulfils the Old and is also in accordance with the promise made to Abraham!

Christianity EtcRe: Is Our Lord Jesus Christ Against Tithing? by Scholar8200(m): 7:54am On Jun 16, 2015
brocab:
Abram paid tithe once from goods that didn't belong to him. {Later it became a law}
Abram done a lot more than just paid a tithe, but do I hear anybody living the way he lived. He wanted a son and Sarah his own wife couldn't give him one, and yet the slave woman could.

You are all to eager to follow up on the tithing act Abraham had given; but are you willing to follow up on all the acts Abraham had committed, say an adultery act with another woman, like Abraham had done.
We are descendants of Abraham, not his followers.
We belong to Christ and Christ did not tithe, nor shall we tithe, Christ wasn't against tithing, because it wasn't His custom to tithe.
Like its not our custom either.

Romans 4:13-16, For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. And the righteousness of faith is Christ.
For if those who are of the law heirs-Faith is made void and the promise is nullified {made of no effect.}
Tithing was later given as a law, and anybody who is under the law is under the curse of that law.
There's nothing in my post that suggests a for or against stance; it's just a statement of fact. Besides, no one has suggested that we copy the mistakes of anyone. In the NT, we are under the Lordship of Christ. Meaning all we are and have (not just a tenth) are under His control. Hence we withhold and/or dispense at His command.

Check you bible, were they believers (Ananias and Sapphira)?
Yes, before they yielded to temptation. They must have been of the 3000+ converts on the day of Pentecost since they also associated with the church. Just like Judas, they fell by transgression. Hence we are warned to be sober and vigilant; this would be superfluous if there was no danger.

CryptDarpick:
1. Whenever you speak of a prophet you speak of a lawgiver.
2. Islamic and Mosaic laws are quite similar, but there are certain differences, like the sabbath and how Muhammad restricted marriage to four. So all in all, it's a matter of being a lawgiver.
3. what Basis? God.
4. Muhammad was sent to all of mankind, the Israelites included.
1. But all other prophets in the Bible were not lawgivers!
2. Are those the only differences that make it a whole new set of laws?
3. The laws in the OT were given and obedience enjoined as a result of the deliverance from captivity and the institution of the Covenant ratified by the blood of animals. In fact after reading those laws contained in the book of the covenant, Moses sealed same with the blood. On what were the laws given by Mohammed based?
4. The prophesy in Deut.18:18 does not suggest that. Can you prove this from other Biblical references?

Lateralmaths:
How can you maintain what you are not qualified to receive...

Explain this

Philippians 2:13 KJV
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Salvation is a gift and God is the one who preserves the saved.

1 John 3:9 KJV
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

What's your definition of sin? going by that definition can you truly say that you don't sin?
1 John 3:9 was speaking of the spirit.

John 3:5-6 KJV
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. [6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Its your regenerated spirit that becomes born again. Your spirit is saved ( eternally secured), your soul is being saved ( through continual renewal of the mind), the body is not yet saved, that is why the body still dies.
As regards the highlighted, see Romans 6:12,13
12 Let not sin therefore rule as king in your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its lusts and evil passions.
13 Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and [a]faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and [b]faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.

It starts with the word,'let'. Meaning we have a choice to make. If we'll obey the command in the verse then we do it not by struggling but in total dependence on the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:11-13
And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.
12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh.
13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.

Note that the emphasis on mortal bodies debunks your claim that the body is not saved!
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death 1 Corinth 15:26 (not sin) hence, pending the time appointed, people still die. However, victory over sin is available while we are alive, by the Power of the Spirit (not referring to Holy Ghost Baptism but Indwelling Spirit at Salvation).

Let me add
1 Thess 5:22-24
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Vs 22 is our responsibility; VS 23 is God's part as long as,through faith, we are faithful to our part.
Christianity EtcRe: Advice Needed For An Addict by Scholar8200(m): 7:23pm On Jun 15, 2015
You are right.

Hebrews 9:12
12 He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us).

Jesus said he that commits sin is a servant of sin. By virtue of the Redemption in His blood the Scripture says:
7 Therefore, you are no longer a slave (bond servant) but a son; and if a son, then [it follows that you are] an heir [c]by the aid of God, through Christ.(Galatians 4:7)
This is your right but you have to appropriate by a faith that will not be denied! Not to excuse the tokens of slavery/servitude but to claim your right to total freedom.

Redemption means to buy back from slavery and/or restoration to original condition after the payment of a ransom. The Bible tells us that in Jesus Christ we have redemption and He gave His life a Ransom for us. He has paid the uttermost farthing hence we cannot be remanded in prison/bondage lawfully except if we want it so. These, like many other benefits of redemption, must be claimed. Not because God forgot, but He wont force on us that which we do not earnestly desire and our willingness to persevere proves our faith(just like the Syrophenician woman). But our faith that these things are actually ours and that the dominion of sin is illegal, should naturally stir up a holy anger that will make you demand (not beg; begging may simply mean you dont understand your right in Christ) that it be done in your life as it is settled in Heaven and revealed in scriptures.

Please get this understanding from scriptures before praying. Understanding is the mother of faith that cannot be denied. Besides, you will need to avoid walking into or staying on sites/places/people that are objects of temptation.

Let me give an example:
There was one who had problems with nocturnal visitors in the dream. After a discussion on the above he went to the scriptures. Understanding burned like fire and he went to God in prayer. Till date it has not recurred.
I read of another with similar spirit wife problem. He embarked on fasting and prayer but I think by the 4th/5th day, he was still not free. It was then he began to see the link between the intimacy he watched on Tv and these night visits and the need to avoid such at all cost. Lesson: Fasting and prayer with listed deliverance prayer points sans understanding by faith is powerless. Also, prayer and fasting while failing to obey the command to be watchful, and avoiding sources of temptation will yield no fruit.
In addition, since this sin makes much use of your mind and the mind cannot focus two things at the same time, try getting an Audio bible mp3 and play whole portions or books while you work endeavouring to focus your mind on the reading, this will help regain the control of your mind which due to over-indulgence in fantasy, might be flabby now.

"what guarantees your stand with God is not and can never be ur conduct,it is the finished work of christ".
It is plain and clear that he did not understand the scriptures he was referring to
Professed Faith in the finished work of Christ results in a life characterised by holiness
Romans 6:22
22 But now since you have been set free from sin and have become the slaves of God, you have your present reward in holiness and its end is eternal life.

Hence Paul warned that we should not be such
Titus 1:16
16 They profess to know God [to recognize, perceive, and be acquainted with Him], but deny and disown and renounce Him by what they do; they are detestable and loathsome, unbelieving and disobedient and disloyal and rebellious, and [they are] unfit and worthless for good work (deed or enterprise) of any kind.

2 Peter 3:11 was also Inspired by The Holy Spirit
11 Since all these things are thus [b]in the process of being dissolved, what kind of person ought [each of] you to be [in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities,

Just as the Lord Jesus spoke concerning one of the churches in Revelations 3:4
Yet you still have a few [persons’] names in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes, and they shall walk with Me in white, because they are worthy and deserving.

Op, if there is unconditional security, what would you say about Judas, Demas, Ananias and Sapphira?
Why would Jesus warn his disciples on the dangers of hell and emphasize the need to watch and take heed?

Then, what was the purpose of the parable of the 10 virgins?
Salvation is by Grace but the person thus saved is commanded to walk in the Spirit else, death(spiritual) will result.
And, why would the Holy Spirit inspire Paul to write:

Romans 8:1,13

1 Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
13 For if you live according to [the dictates of] the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil] deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever.

After salvation, the condition for our security is the highlighted.

Some have wondered, if we are all descendents of Adam and Eve, why are there so many races?
The Bible informed us 2,000 years ago that God has made all nations from “one blood.” We are
all of the same race—the “human race,” descendents of Adam and Eve, something science is
slowly coming to realize.
Reuters news service reported the following article by Maggie Fox:
Science may have caught up with the Bible, which says that Adam and Eve are the ancestors
of all humans alive today.
Peter Underhill of Stanford University in California remarked on findings published in
the November 2000 issue of the journal Nature Genetics...Geneticists have long agreed
there is no genetic basis to race—only to ethnic and geographic groups.
“People look at a very conspicuous trait like skin color and they say,
‘Well, this person’s so different’...but that’s only skin deep,”
Underhill said. “When you look at the level of the Y chromosome
you find that, gee, there is very little difference
between them. And skin color differences are strictly a
consequence of climate.”
