The US/NATO chaotic pull out from Afghanistan was very terrible in most ways, though everyone was expecting a pull out but not in such shameful and chaotic manner. It made a dent in the reputation of US and NATO, but that's not the main issue. Prior before the shameful withdrawal form Afghanistan, most people ( mostly Europeans) had lost faith in the alliance (NATO). But this attack by the Russians have strenghtened not only the alliance but the west in general.
Any wannabe rival has been surly tamed. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the next few months.

Truth be told, NATO/the west has impressed everyone beyond imagination. They have made the most out of this.
