If it is true then may his soul rest in peace. Why Nollywood actor or actress always? |
Popular Nollywood actor, producer and comedian, Bolaji Amusan a.k.a ‘Mr Latin’ has been reported dead by unconfirmed reports in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The 47-year-old actor who had been receiving medical treatments over ailing heart disease at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta was reported dead at around 3:45 pm, Monday. A hospital source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Mr Latin had been receiving medical treatments at the hospital for several days now before his death and has been taken away at around 5.30 pm. Hospital officials at The Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta declined to comment on the issue saying only the families and relatives of the ace comedian are allowed and authorised to make such pronouncements. The office of the Chief Medical Director, Dr Dapo Sotiloye was cordoned by hospital security guards who refused to allow even patients approach him. All attempts to reach the families and relatives of the actor/comedian proved unproductive as calls to his Abeokuta residence and Lagos family home were not immediately returned or responded to. Calls to his wife, Ronke Amusan who is also a Nollywood scriptwriter were abortive as her telephone lines were switched off. Bolaji Amusan a.k.a. Mr Latin was the Governor of the Ogun State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP). http://ascology.com/news/entertainment/24198-Popular-actor-comedian-Latin-reported-dead.html |

Renowned prophet and servant of God, Temitope Balogun Joshua popularly known as Prophet TB Joshua, who is the founder and leader of Synagogue of All Nations church, has prophesied that English Giants Chelsea will lift this year’s UEFA Champions league trophy. According to the report, the prophet who is also into football administration and currently manages Lazio’s young duo of Edmund Ogenyi Onazi and Sani Emmanuel, prophesied after the sacking of Portuguese Manager Andre Villas-Boas that Chelsea will play in the finals and if John Terry does not play the final, Chelsea will win it because there is a bad luck hanging on the head of the skipper – which is presumably from his affair with the wife of Wayne Bridge. Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua is not new to such prophesies as he prophesized Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2012 Gabon/Equatorial Guinea African Cup of Nations, Zambia’s triumph in the 2012 AFCON, Asamoah Gyan’s last minute penalty miss during the 2010 World Cup and a host of others. Chelsea’s run to the Champions league final has been a miracle, particularly in the semi finals against Barcelona, where the Catalans hit the post 6 times. http://dailypost.com.ng/2012/05/02/chelsea-will-win-the-champions-league-prophet-t-b-joshua-prophesies/ |

The management of FCMB Plc has terminated the employment of 30% of Finbank staff numbering 550 people. This is following the merger between the two banking brands and the resulting integration process. Speaking on the development, Mr. Ladi Balogun, Managing Director of FCMB said the move became necessary as the bank had to close 44 Finbank branches due to duplicity of functions. Balogun said, “Five hundred and fifty Finbank employees have taken the opportunity to resign. “We are retaining about 70 per cent of the Finbank staff. Those affected have a robust welfare package, including entrepreneurial training, proper counseling and a good severance package.” “While staff rationalisation is necessary in a merger, it is important that it is done with a human face,” he added. “In terms of the cost of the exercise to the bank, we are still calculating. We will be paying the people what they deserve and we will be treating them with dignity.” http://businessnews.com.ng/2012/04/30/fcmb-terminates-employment-of-550-finbank-staff/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=fcmb-terminates-employment-of-550-finbank-staff |

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Witnesses say gunmen shot dead at least five people attending a church worship service in northeast Nigeria, including the pastor. That comes as gunmen killed at least 16 in a separate attack. Witnesses say the gunmen attacked a Church of Christ in Nigeria church Sunday in Maiduguri, the spiritual home of the radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. The witnesses declined to be named for fear of reprisals. Police spokesman Samuel Tizhe confirmed the attack took place. Meanwhile Sunday, the Nigerian Red Cross said at least 16 people were killed in an attack on church services at the campus of Bayero University in the northern city of Kano. No group has claimed the attacks, though they mirror others carried out by Boko Haram. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below. KANO, Nigeria (AP) — Gunmen attacked church services on a university campus Sunday in northern Nigeria, using small explosives to draw out and gun down panicking worshippers in an assault that killed at least 16 people, officials said. The attackers targeted an old section of Bayero University's campus where religious groups use a theater and other areas to hold worship services, Kano state police spokesman Ibrahim Idris said. The assault left many others seriously wounded, Idris said. "By the time we responded, they entered (their) motorcycles and disappeared into the neighborhood," the commissioner said. After the attack, police and soldiers cordoned off the campus as gunfire echoed in the surrounding streets. Abubakar Jibril, a spokesman for Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency, said security forces refused to allow rescuers to enter the campus. Soldiers also turned away journalists from the university. Andronicus Adeyemo, an official with the Nigerian Red Cross, said a canvas of local hospitals and morgues showed the attack killed at least 16 people. A number of people suffered injuries, though the aid agency did not immediately have an exact figure, Adeyemo said. No group immediately claimed responsibility. However, Idris said the attackers used small explosives packed inside of aluminum soda cans for the assault, a method previously used by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram. Boko Haram is waging a growing sectarian battle with Nigeria's weak central government, using suicide car bombs and assault rifles in attacks across the country's predominantly Muslim north and around its capital Abuja. Those killed have included Christians, Muslims and government officials. The sect has been blamed for killing more than 450 people this year alone, according to an Associated Press count. Diplomats and military officials say Boko Haram has links with two other al-Qaida-aligned terrorist groups in Africa. Members of the sect also reportedly have been spotted in northern Mali which Tuareg rebels and hardline Islamists seized control of over the past month. In January, a coordinated assault on government buildings and other sites in Kano by Boko Haram killed at least 185 people. In the time since, the sect has been blamed for attacking police stations and carrying out smaller assaults in the city. On Thursday, the sect carried out a suicide car bombing at the Abuja offices of the influential newspaper ThisDay and a bombing at an office building it shared with other publications in the city of Kaduna. At least seven people were killed in those attacks. Late Thursday night, gunmen also bombed a building at the campus of Gombe State University, though authorities said no one was injured in the attack. Boko Haram has rejected efforts to begin indirect peace talks with Nigeria's government. Its demands include the introduction of strict Shariah law across the country, even in its Christian south, and the release of all imprisoned followers. Churches also have been increasingly targeted by Boko Haram. A Christmas Day suicide bombing of a Catholic church in Madalla near Nigeria's capital killed at least 44 people. http://hosted2.ap.org/ALDEC/TDNational/Article_2012-04-29-AF-Nigeria-Violence/id-44429706d3bc40eda0c07f85d357897e |
