Business › Re: Banks And Their Outrageous Charges by SeanT21(f): 10:05pm On Jun 04, 2008
OMG. One Saturday morning, me and my friends where at the bank. One lady was mad that they charge her $50 because her check bounce. She started screaming at the teller. The funny thing is the teller didn't give a damn. she just stood there until the lady got told to leave.

The shit was so funny. 2 days later while eating at applebees we couldn't stop laughing.

Flowers:
I went to get a bankers confirmation and was told it will cost 2,500 and mandate for dividend payment to bank 1,000. Is this not too much?

no one ever said that it was bilingual. we are just saying that they(america) still manage to translate signs for other people.

People are saying that Spanish is going to take over English pretty soon in the states. i don't see that happening at all.

i think it is. they are growing faster than ever.[/quote]i dont want that to happen. I dont want to learn how to speak spanish. I do love them though.
Culture › What Is Your Zodiac Sign: All About You Baby by SeanT21(op): 9:39pm On Jun 04, 2008
My sign is Cancer, My BDay is June 22. I love all cancer and those that love them.

Cancer, the fourth Sign of the Zodiac, is all about home. Those born under this Sign are 'roots' kinds of people and take great pleasure in the comforts of home and family. Cancers are maternal, domestic and love to nurture others. More than likely, their family will be large, too -- the more, the merrier! Cancers will certainly be merry if their home life is serene and harmonious. Traditions are upheld with great zest in a Cancer's household, since these folks prize family history and love communal activities. They also tend to be patriotic, waving the flag whenever possible. A Cancer's good memory is the basis for stories told around the dinner table, and don't be surprised if these folks get emotional about things. Those born under this Sign wear their heart on their sleeve, which is just fine by them.

what is yours? Make it interesting

Food › Is British Food Horribe: Explain by SeanT21(op): 12:17am On Jun 04, 2008
one day while doing a research, i came across this article that was about obama disliking British food. Then while i was watching Coilleg Hill at some friend house, the students took a trip to London and complain about the breakfast they ate being nasty. Anthony, a member of the cast even commented saying that "THEY(BRITISH) EAT TO LIVE, WE(AMERICANS) LIVE TO EAT". Then again i came across this article on a newsite about the french president said quote "You cannot trust people who have such bad cuisine. It is the country [Great Britain] with the worst food after Finland.”.

Tell me those that live in England, is British food bad or is it a stereotype.

Just because a country translate directions/instructions into other languages for people who speak that language to understand doesn't mean that is Bilingual.

ENGLISH IS THE MAIN LANGUAGE SPOKEN IN AMERICA. I THINK AMERICA AS A WHOLE SHOULD ADAPT SPANISH AS ANOTHER LANGUAGE BECAUSE LATIN AMERICANS/SOUTH AMERICANS ARE THE FASTEST GROWING MINORITIES IN THE US.

People are saying that Spanish is going to take over English pretty soon in the states. i don't see that happening at all.
Politics › Re: Is America Two Conservative? by SeanT21(op): 11:52pm On Jun 03, 2008
Kobojunkie:
Americans, compared to the rest of the western world are pretty conservative. Sure, there are the liberal americans but the majority are still conservative at heart.
that is exactly my point. America compare to other country are more conservative. Teachers are not allow to date their students parents, students shouldnt come to school with vulgar things written on their clothing and etc.

MyTempID:
lol, hey. don't rile on the young woman. I think she's trying to understand why America, in her opinion, frowns upon sex unlike other countries. Which is not true. America personifies sex. In America, sex sells. It's all over TV, magazines, the tabloids, everywhere. Most reality TV shows have sex written all over them.

SeanT, can you elaborate on this? I always thought America personifies sex.
People say sex sells in america but america as a country has many rules/regulations on sex and other things.
American as a country love sex but you wont see a student talking about sex with his teachers where in Liberia i use to see it happening. In America, you will probably get fired for doing that.

MORE INFO ON CONSERVATIVE,

A more liberal thinker would see a conservative bias in a news report that talks about marriage between a man and a woman as the only proper type of union. An opinion piece or magazine article that suggests gay unions are harmful and corrosive to our culture and standing in contrast to traditional family values could be considered conservative in nature.
Conservatives generally value individual accomplishment and resent too much government intervention. They do not believe that it is the job of the government to solve the problems of society by imposing intrusive or costly policies, such as affirmative action or mandatory health care programs.

Many conservatives, and especially Christian conservatives, express strong feelings about the sanctity of life. They cherish human life and tend to believe that abortion should be illegal because they believe that life begins at conception.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Blame It On Congress: Not Bush by SeanT21(op): 10:19pm On Jun 02, 2008
The president can issue rules, regulations, and instructions called executive orders, which have the binding force of law upon federal agencies but do not require congressional approval. As Commander in Chief of the armed forces of the United States, the president may also call into federal service the state units of the National Guard. In times of war or national emergency, the Congress may grant the president even broader powers to manage the national economy and protect the security of the United States. These actions have been taken by presidents from Washington to today but are not powers granted by the Constitution to the president. (Congress is the body constitutionally given the power to call forth the national guard and army.)

The president nominates — and the Senate confirms — the heads of all executive departments and agencies, together with hundreds of other high-ranking federal officials. (See United States Cabinet, Executive Office of the President.)

The president is also responsible for preparing the budget of the United States, although the Congress must approve it. (See Office of Management and Budget)

Under the Constitution, the president is the federal official primarily responsible for the relations of the United States with foreign nations. The president appoints ambassadors, ministers, and consuls — subject to confirmation by the Senate — and receives foreign ambassadors and other public officials. With the secretary of state, the president manages all official contacts with foreign governments. On occasion, the president may personally participate in summit conferences where chiefs of state meet for direct consultation. Thus, President Woodrow Wilson headed the American delegation to the Paris conference at the end of World War I; President Franklin D. Roosevelt met with Allied leaders during World War II; and every president since then has sat down with world leaders to discuss economic and political issues and to reach bilateral and multilateral agreements.

Through the Department of State and the Department of Defense, the president is responsible for the protection of Americans abroad and of foreign nationals in the United States. The president decides whether to recognize new nations and new governments, and negotiate treaties with other nations, which become binding on the United States when approved by two-thirds of the Senate. The president may also negotiate "executive agreements" with foreign powers that are not subject to Senate confirmation.

The Separation of Powers devised by the framers of the Constitution was designed to do one primary thing: to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist. Based on their experience, the framers shied away from giving any branch of the new government too much power. The separation of powers provides a system of shared power known as Checks and Balances (see Separation of powers). For example, the President appoints judges and departmental secretaries. But these appointments must be approved by the Senate

the president have powers but it all lead up to congress aproval. SO REALLY I DONT CALL THAT POWER?

there is a saying that goes if you are an american, you speak one language.

but tell me , should american as a country adapt to other languages, except English.

Plus what do ya'll think about the new 7game schedule?
it's Games 1 - 2 in Boston, then 3 - 5 in LA, then 6 -7 in Boston.
I'm not sure which team this favors more but I would say if they go the max 7-games, it def works towards the Celtics.
celtics always win at home for some reason.

do you think the states needs to be liberal aka more free.

ex, you can walk into a gas station in any other country and see a playboy magazine or porn can be on TV in some country in the daytime. In america, porn must be on after midnight and you definately cannot walk into a gas station or wal mart and see a play boy magazine at the countier.

do you think america needs to be free like canada for example.

Xiomarra:
Because people do not use their brains or whatever they have "upstairs"! Especially third world Nairaland "political" tickers that do not understand how the American goverment works. Most stupidlly liken it to the situations we have in African nations called the "Mugabe" syndrome where only one man rules a country like in Nigeria.

Most ignorant people fail to realize that America runs on a bi-partisan system and both parties are to blame for whatever situations, pleasant or unpleasant happens in the United States as far as "policies" are concerned.

Both democrats and republicans voted to go into Iraq including Senator Hilary Clinton herself. I am sure they did not have guns to their heads when they did that.

The reason I have stopped voting. One man cannot rule and make decisions for Americans. So those that keep blaming George Bush for everything are only doing what their "limited" knowledge of world affairs from the mentally handicapped Nigerian viewpoint can afford.

I can't say I blame them. Ignorance is bliss.
i totally agree with you. he shouldnt be blame for everything. Next time something bad happens we will all say"Blame it on congress".
