Sports / What Are Nigeria’s Chances Of Winning The Women’s World Cup In 2027? by robosky02(m): 4:08pm On Aug 25, 2023
What Are Nigeria’s Chances of Winning the Women’s World Cup in 2027?

The Super Falcons came close to beating England during the round of 16 clash at the just concluded FIFA Women's World Cup in New Zealand and australia.
The Nigerian women’s soccer team is regarded as the strongest in Africa, but they were unable to win this year’s World Cup in australia and New Zealand as they were eliminated in the round of 16. Could the Super Falcons win this tournament the next time it’s played?

How Did the 2023 World Cup Go for Nigeria?
The Nigerian women’s team has made it to every World Cup since 1991, but they’ve only made it into the last eight on a single occasion. For this year’s event, hopes were high, and the Super Falcons finished second in Group B, behind australia, after a win and two draws.

In the round of 16, Nigeria faced the English women, who are regarded as one of the top teams in the sport. The African ladies dominated the game and also had an advantage when English player Lauren James received a red card. However, despite the widespread opinion that Nigeria deserved to win the game, it ended 0-0 after 120 minutes and England progressed to the next round with a 4-2 win on penalties.

So, what went wrong for Nigeria? The truth is that the Super Falcons came close to beating England, as they hit the bar on a couple of occasions. However, it’s a fine line between victory and defeat at this level of sport and the Nigerian team was unable to press home their advantage during this game. A look at the way the Nigerian players rated shows that Ashleigh Plumtree was the best player on the pitch and unlucky not to score.

The final of this tournament is scheduled for the Stadium australia in Sydney on August 20. At the time of writing, England are now favorites to win the trophy, followed by Spain and Japan. For those fans who are following the Women's World Cup at home, free-to-air TV has allowed to compare the different teams and make their own decisions on who they think will win.

Can They Get It Right in 2027?
No decision has yet been made on which country will host the next Women’s World Cup. In fact, the venue won’t be announced until the 74th FIFA Congress takes place in May 2024. The bids that are left in the running at this stage are from Brazil, South Africa, the US and Mexico, and a joint bid from Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany.

With no more bids now accepted, the host of the 2027 event will be selected from those four venues listed earlier. If the World Cup is held in Africa for the first time in its history, this could give Nigeria an advantage, although we should remember the men’s team's relatively uninspired performance at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as a warning that playing on African soil isn’t a guarantee of success.

Perhaps some changes in preparation plans would help the them to fulfil their potential. Forward Ifeoma Onumonu pointed out after the defeat against England that the European team had far better preparations than them, as the Nigerian team lacks resources and professional facilities, with the players even having to share beds at the training base sometimes.

There was also a pay dispute in the build-up to the tournament that didn’t help them. Manager Randy Waldrum confirmed that the Nigeria Football Federation hadn’t paid some of their player's expenses or allowances in the last couple of years, while he was owed seven months' wages. The soccer union Fifpro has had to step in to try and help deal with the situation.

While overhauling the infrastructure is a huge task and it’s unlikely that the Nigerian team will enjoy European-type facilities anytime soon, some improvements in the organization would certainly boost the team’s chance of success in 2027. Simply by having better sleeping facilities and higher quality training pitches could help them to reach the next level.

However, the introduction of infrastructure that helps young players to get recognized is crucial. The Falconets U-20 team have performed strongly in the past and last year they reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup before losing 2-0 to Netherlands.

The Immediate Future
The 2027 World Cup is still four years away, but there are some important games coming up for the Super Falcons before then. The qualifying rounds for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations begin in September. Nigeria’s national team is drawn to play against São Tomé and Príncipe in the first round. After that, qualifying for the 2024 Olympics sees the team play Ethiopia in the second round in October.

The Nigeria women’s team can count themselves unlucky to crash out of the World Cup early. However, they won’t have to wait long for a chance to redeem themselves as they need to qualify for other upcoming tournaments. Hopefully, there will be no repeat of the pay disputes and other issues that have hampered their preparations in the past, as they aim to build toward success in 2027.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons navigated a difficult group that included co-hosts australia and Olympic Canada.

The multiple African champions finished second behind australia without losing a single game despite distractions before the competition

Nigeria reached the round of 16 before European champions England ended their World Cup dream on penalties.

FIFA rewards Nigeria
Following the conclusion of the global showpiece, FIFA has now released a new world ranking with the Super Falcons one of the biggest movers.

Nigeria moved eight places to be ranked 32nd in the world to become the top-rated team on the continent. Falcons gained 94.14 points to move from 1554.94 to 1649.08 points.

Sports / Lawmakers Demand Evidence As NFF Says It Has Paid Falcons. by naptu2: 12:53pm On Aug 25, 2023
Falcons allowance: Lawmakers demand evidence from NFF

August 24, 2023

House adhoc committee says the Nigeria Football Federation should furnish it with meticulous and comprehensive documentation that outlines the financial support extended to the Super Falcons for their involvement in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This documentation according to the Chairperson, Blessing Onu, should encompass a breakdown of all match bonus payments, leaving no detail unaccounted for.

Furthermore, she said NFF was to provide precise records, valid receipts, and individual payment slips for all 23 players and members of the coaching staff no later than August 30.

Ibrahim Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had told the committee that all match bonuses and allowances for the Super Falcons have been paid.

When the ad-hoc further made inquiries regarding unpaid allowances for the 2019 FIFA women’s world cup, Mr Gusau explained that no funding was released for participation but revealed that in the 2023 FiFA Women’s World Cup hosted by australia and New Zealand $960,000 was given to all 32 countries that qualified.

The NFF President, Mr disclosed this, when he appeared before the House ad-hoc committee set up to investigate the dispute between the Super Falcons and the NFF.

According to him, the preparation money provided by FIFA was to be used by the countries to prepare the teams for the world cup.

The NFF President added that no fund was provided by the federal government for its staff and officials, rather the federation gets its operational cost from FIFA and CAF.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) provides $250,000 per annum as subvention fund”, said the NFF President. “We can’t use this money to pay outstanding allowances for 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup,” he said.

House ad-hoc committee was set up to investigate the dispute between the Super Falcons and the NFF.

Sports / Super Falcons: Reps Summon NFF Over Unpaid Match Bonuses - Pulse Sports by Tundetech2: 8:43am On Aug 24, 2023
House of Reps summon NFF president over the issue of unpaid match bonuses of the Super Falcons.

The House of Representatives has once again summoned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the issue of unpaid bonuses to the Super Falcons.

What happened
The Nigerian women's national team dazzled at the just concluded FIFA Women's World Cup, and although they crashed out in the Round of 16, losing to eventual finalist England, they put up a memorable performance.

They went through the group stage undefeated and beat co-hosts australia. They also put the Three Lionesses through the wringer, with the Sarina Wiegman-led side needing penalty shootouts to overcome the record Awcon winners.

This remarkable outing was, however, marred by alleged bonuses owed to the players by the NFF.

The Super Falcons were used as an example by many of the flaws of the women's game, with many calling for the Federation to pay the players what they are due.

The issue is still very much in contention and has gotten the attention of the legislative arm of government, leading them to set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the matter.

NFF president summoned
According to a report by Pulse Nigeria, the president of the federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, was summoned to appear before the committee of representatives on August 17, but he failed to show up.

The chairperson of the ad hoc committee set up to investigate the matter, Blessing Onu, accused the president of frustrating their efforts.

She also walked out on the secretary general of the federation, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who was in attendance, and cited ill-health as the reason for Gusau's absence.

“Nigerians are interested; Nigerians are watching. The girls did extremely well, and they made Nigerians proud, so we shouldn’t take this investigative hearing likely,” she said.

“We gave an opportunity for the president of NFF to appear before this Ad hoc committee, I will say invariably he is the one summoning us.

“He came up with an excuse that it is not as important as what we have. The allowances and the dues that were supposed to be paid to the female footballers, the Super Falcons and he turned it down.

“What is more important is for him to attend the FIFA Women Convention or to appear before this committee

”And even at that, he has the effrontery to send his SA that he won’t be able to make it, it simply means he is taking us for granted, he is taking us for a ride and we will not tolerate it we will not.”

According to the Guardian, some unnamed lawmakers who are members of the ad-hoc committee accused the chairman of the House of Reps Committee on Sports, Ekene Adams, of conniving with the NFF president.

The lawmakers claim Adams told Ibrahim Gusau not to show up for the hearing.

Sports / Spain Win The Women's World Cup For The First Time Ever by AImiron: 1:32pm On Aug 20, 2023
SYDNEY, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Spain defeated England 1-0 in the final of the Women's World Cup on Sunday, capping off a tournament that has broken attendance and TV records and raised hopes of a surge in interest for the women's game.

Co-hosted by australia and New Zealand, the ninth edition of the global showpiece event was the first to be held in the southern hemisphere.

While local interest ebbed when australia exited in the semi-finals, just shy of two million fans will have passed through the gates in nine host cities after Sunday's final crowd of 75,784 is added to the tally.

An Olga Carmona goal was the difference between the two sides in a pulsating game that saw Spain create the majority of the clear-cut chances.

Thousands of fans milled around Stadium australia in Sydney hours before kick-off on Sunday, with troupes of drummers and stilt walkers creating a festival atmosphere.

England and Spain were both making their first appearance at a Women's World Cup final, while England's wait for a first trophy since the men's tournament in 1966 goes on.

australia's semi-final loss to England on Wednesday drew an average of 7.13 million viewers on the channels of local broadcaster Seven Network, the highest viewership ever recorded by research firm OzTAM, which launched in 2001.

Matildas matches sold out months in advance, and organisers expect the average attendance to overtake 30,000 once all 64 matches are completed.

The last Women's World Cup in France four years ago attracted more than 1.1. million fans to 52 matches with an average crowd of 21,756.

Demand was weaker in New Zealand, whose team went out in the group stages. FIFA gave away thousands of tickets and some games attracted as few as 7,000 fans, although White Ferns matches broke records for a soccer crowd in the country.

FUNDING GAP

australia's players, who lost 2-0 in a third-place playoff match to Sweden on Saturday, will earn $165,000 each in prize money for this tournament, more than 300 times the A$750 ($480) they received for a quarter-final appearance in 2015.

Spain vs England: Super Falcons their toughest challenge? Here is all you need to know about the 2023 Women's World Cup final.

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup comes to an end England takes on Spain in the final.

It will be an interesting encounter and mark either country's first trip to the final.

England's route to the final
England's campaign got off to a tough start with a 1-0 victory over Haiti, and they repeated that result against Denmark in the second game.

Against Denmark, Lauren James scored to give England the victory, and she was unstoppable against China.

She contributed three assists and two superb goals to help England beat China 6-1 and advance as group winners with nine points from three games.

James was dismissed for stepping on Michelle Alozie of Nigeria in the round of 16.

To force a penalty shootout, England had to fight throughout the extra period without James.

After their penalty victory against Nigeria, England in the quarterfinal had a come from a goal down against Colombia.

An Alessia Russo goal was enough as England held on to move to the semifinals.

England faced off against co-hosts australia for the chance to join Spain, who had already advanced to the final.

Russo sealed a comfortable win with England's third to their first-ever World Cup appearance.

Spain makes it to the final in style
A player uprising that called for the dismissal of head coach Jorge Vilda dominated Spain's preparation for the World Cup.

Vilda stayed, however, and his team had a great start, defeating Zambia 5-0 and Costa Rica 3-0.

In their final Group C game, Japan defeated Spain 4-0 despite having the majority of the possession.

Spain, though, made a strong comeback in the elimination rounds defeating Switzerland 5-1 to earn their first World Cup knockout victory.

In the quarterfinals, Spain face doff against the Netherlands, who finished second four years ago.

With her winning goal in the 111th minute, Salma Paralluelo, 19, made history for her nation by being the youngest scorer at a Women's World Cup.

Spain faced Sweden in the semifinals, and skipper Olga Carmona scored the winner in the 89th minute to spark wild celebrations among Spanish fans.

The Netherlands, runners-up four years ago, were Spain's quarter-final opponents as 19-year-old Salma Paralluelo became her country's youngest scorer at a Women's World Cup with her winner in the 111th minute.

Sweden were Spain's opponent in the semi-final and captain Olga Carmona scored an 89th-minute winner to spark wild scenes of jubilation among the Spanish supporters

Spain vs England preview
Even though Sarina Wiegman has already advanced to the final of four straight international tournaments, she will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2019 final, in which her Netherlands team was defeated 2-0 by the USA.

England defeated Spain over the course of 120 minutes to win their matchup in the quarterfinal of the European Championships.

Time and Where to watch Spain vs England World Cup final
The World Cup final will take place at Stadium australia in Sydney.

With roughly 75,000 seats, it is the biggest venue being used for the competition.

The early hours of August 20 the 2023 Women's World Cup final will kick off.

It will mark the first time that neither the United States nor Germany will play in a Women's World Cup final.

Neither side has even been in the showpiece event before and that lack of experience of the biggest game in the sport adds another layer of intrigue to what is sure to be an incredibly interesting encounter.

England have slowly raised their game round-by-round in australia, avoiding a last 16 scare against Nigeria but dispatching of Colombia and australia in the latter stages with professional performances that showed their quality and pedigree. Spain, meanwhile, overcame a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Japan in the group stages, and a lot of off-field chaos, to get here.

Neither have faced an opponent as strong as the other yet in this tournament. England haven't taken on a team that is going to starve them of possession as much as Spain will do, either. It'll be a fascinating tactical match-up as well as a duel between two teams of serious quality.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino provoked a backlash on the eve of the World Cup final after offering advice to women on the “battle” for equality in football, saying they had the “power to convince us men what we have to do”.
With England and Spain set to compete for the biggest prize in football on Sunday, the head of the global sport told the second Fifa Women’s Football Convention in Sydney of the need “to start treating women and men in the same way”.

“I say to all the women — and you know I have four daughters, so I have a few at home — that you have the power to change,” Infantino told the audience.

The head of the sport’s world governing body told women to “pick the right battles” and that they had “the power to convince us men what we have to do and what we don’t have to do”.
“You do it, just do it,” Infantino added. “With me, with Fifa you will find open doors. Just push the doors, they are open.”

Women have been marginalised in the world’s favourite sport for decades, as male-dominated football authorities have made a priority of the men’s game for investment and marketing.

The Women’s World Cup is set to have attracted 2bn viewers on screens globally, with almost 2mn tickets sold for the matches in australia and New Zealand. The tournament had generated $570mn, allowing it to break even, according to Infantino.
Ada Hegerberg, the Norwegian star and Ballon d’Or winner, was among those to respond to Infantino’s remarks.

“Working on a little presentation to convince men,” she wrote on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. “Who’s in?”

Jacqui Oatley, the football commentator, posted: “We’ve been battling for decades against this sort of nonsense. So, so poor from Infantino.”

Sports / NFF Boss Drops Major Hint On Peseiro And Waldrum's Future by robosky02(m): 7:43pm On Aug 17, 2023
NFF boss drops major hint on Peseiro and Waldrum's future

NFF president Ibrahim Gusau has dropped a major hint about the future of Super Eagles boss Jose Peseiro and Super Falcons' Randy Waldrum
NFF's Ibrahim Gusau has suggested that Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro could be set to leave his role with the national team.

Peseiro’s future up for speculation
Peseiro has been in charge of the Super Eagles since 2022 after replacing Gerhnot Rohr, but has reportedly has several run-ins with the NFF over unpaid wages and the Super Eagles’ performances.

Gusau, speaking to OgaNla media, said the NFF would consult with the technical committee regarding Peseiro’s future, saying, "I can not say Peseiro will continue as the Super Eagles coach, we have a Technical Committee and we have to listen to their recommendation. I am optimistic Nigerians will be happy with our decision.”

He further hinted that the federation was set to part ways with Peseiro, saying that they needed to speak with the player’s lawyers.

NFF to speak with Peseiro’s lawyers
Gusau said, "We are discussing with Peseiro and his lawyers, and we hope to conclude with him soon. We have the last qualifying game next month, and we should make a statement before the game.".

However, the Portuguese manager may not be allowed to lead the team to the tournament if he is dismissed before the final qualification games in September.

Gusau coy on Waldrum’s future
Speaking on Super Falcons manager Randy Waldrum, who led the Nigerian Women’s team to a Round of 16 finish at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Gusau was again coy about the gaffer’s future, noting that the NFF would have to wait for a recommendation from the technical committee.

Gusau said, "When the contract of the coach expires, we have to allow the Technical Committee to do their job and make a proper recommendation.

"Next month, the Super Falcons will play in the Olympic Qualifiers, and before that time, we must have decided on who will be the coach."

Waldrum has also been in dispute with the NFF over unpaid wages and claimed he was owed up to seven months in salary arrears ahead of the World Cup in australia and New Zealand.

Sports / How Mohammed Sanusi Sidelined Falcons From Presidential Reception by ijustdey: 7:04pm On Aug 17, 2023
Following reactions from fans online slamming the Nigeria Football Federation after just three members out of the 23-woman Super Falcons were received by the wife of the President, Remi Tinubu, on Monday in Abuja, a top official of the NFF told The PUNCH that the body’s General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi told players and officials that the Presidency asked that the team list be “trimmed down.”

The Falcons crashed out of the ongoing Women’s World Cup in australia and New Zealand with heads held high after losing to England on penalties following a thrilling 120 minutes in the round of 16.

The 11-time Africa champions were the better sides of the two teams but were unlucky not to get to the quarter-finals of the tournament after Desire Oparanozie and Michelle Alozie missed from the spot.

Despite crashing out of the World Cup President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, commended the Falcons, with the First Lady adding that she would host the team on their arrival in the country.

She kept to her promise, but surprisingly only three members of the team were received by the Presidency, raising eyebrows among fans who watched the Falcons put up one of the finest performances at the women’s football showpiece tournament.

Our correspondent learnt Mrs Tinubu gifted each player $10,000, while officials got $2,500 each.

A photo posted on the NFF Twitter handle on Monday had the wife of the President, wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Akpabio, NFF president Ibrahim Gusau; NFF 1st VP, Felix Anyansi-Agwu and the NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, with Falcons captain Onome Ebi, Christy Ucheibe and Tochukwu Oluehi.

Reacting to the post, Nnaji Obed Asiegbu wrote, “You are very unfair. Hosted only three players. Where are the other players and technical crew? This is ridiculous and I feel embarrassed to see Mr Felix joining to perpetuate this act of wickedness. It shows no organisation. The team is supposed to be arranged by the NFF to return to Nigeria officially then their return to their bases also to be sponsored. It’s a national assignment.”

Frank Obisike rhetorically asked, “Are these the full squad? Or it’s only three girls that went to the competition?”

“Shame won’t allow you people to post this rubbish, go and see how the Ireland team was welcomed. You are welcoming three players that already have their tickets paid for by FIFA? Why didn’t you pay for all the players to touch down in Abuja first?” Ezechukwuka wrote.”

Also wondering why only three players were received Akpati Nshiegbe equally asked, “@thenff why do we have only three players in attendance?”

Another fan with the username Shezzy wrote, “Why does it look like the players selected by the NFF are the ones loyal to them?”

However, it was learnt that an original list that had 21 names — four players, nine backroom staff and eight sports ministry and NFF officials — for the visit to the Villa was trimmed down to just six players and officials on the order of Sanusi.

An aggrieved senior official of the NFF told The PUNCH he was among those listed, but later omitted for the reception, adding that the federation left out some players for fear that they would “leak out some secrets.”

“I was surprisingly left out too,” our source, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of being victimised, told The PUNCH.

“The First Lady said she would host the team, but suddenly we heard stories that the Presidency said the team that will attend the reception should be trimmed down. They (NFF) know that the players are aggrieved and will talk and leak out some secrets. The original list had most of the backroom staff but after some days, the GS (General Secretary) sent a message to Amina Daura (Head of Women’s Football, NFF) that they want only him, Anyansi and Gusau with just five players.

“Then after the First Lady received them, they were told to write down the names of the remaining members of the team who were not at the event, and their account details, but Sanusi told them to write down the names of only the players, leaving out other backroom staff members who were not at the ceremony. When the names of the other players shortlisted for the reception Glory Ogbonna and Nnadozie, who were absent, were announced, Sanusi went to collect their money but he was told they won’t deal with him or any other person except the team captain Onome Ebi.”

The PUNCH contacted two backroom staff members who were absent at the ceremony, but both said they’ve not been asked to submit their account details, while a player, who flew back to her base from australia, said she had been told to send her details.

A senior Falcons player said the exclusion of some players from the reception was a reflection of how Sanusi handled the team’s matters.

“Some of the players are around. Why didn’t they go to Abuja? Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State received Rasheedat Ajibade and Rofiat Imuran, why were they not in Abuja? Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday and Ajibade were also hosted by the Lagos Governor. Were they in Abuja? The Imo State Governor also held a reception for Desire Oparanozie, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale and Tochi Oluehi, who went for the reception in Abuja. Why was Desire, Nnadozie and Ohale not in Abuja?”

She added that the players had lost confidence in how the General Secretary managed issues concerning them.

“He had a meeting with us on one of our trips and told us — support staff, players coaches and Randy were there — that ‘if you think you are in the national team to make money, you better step down.’ But it’s this same man that collects his estacode steadily, he collected $600 per night at the World Cup while the players got $100 and its him saying this to people who left their families for months. Are they there to play? During (Amaju) Pinnick’s time, we were paid $5,000 win bonuses but GS told us we would be paid $3,000 in australia. How do you think the girls will be happy? And the man feels he is doing the girls some favour.”

The PUNCH reported last month that shortly before the Nigerian contingent departed Abuja for australia July 2, Sanusi, during a meeting with the players, told them that they would not be paid their $3,000 match bonuses by the federation, since FIFA had already announced that every player would get $30,000 in the group stage of the tournament in australia and New Zealand.

The PUNCH was told that he also announced that the players would no longer be given 30 per cent from the $1,560,000 FIFA grant to all member associations for the group stage of the competition.

Efforts by our correspondent to reach the NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi to comment on the issue proved abortive.

Sanusi didn’t pick his calls at about 1:57pm and 3:38pm on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, and he also didn’t respond to messages sent to his WhatsApp at exactly 2pm on Tuesday and 3:45pm on Wednesday.

However, NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire, who The PUNCH learnt was also on the list to the Villa but had his name removed, said only three players were available for the reception.

“Only three players were available. What’s difficult to understand in that, and where’s the negative slant?,” Olajire told The PUNCH.

“It’s time for pre-season activities for clubs ahead of the season, and most of them left immediately on arrival. The US-based girls flew directly from australia to the USA.”

Sports / Alozie Lost The Match For "Super" Falcons by Fortruth: 2:55pm On Aug 17, 2023
In the Western world, especially Yankee, as long as a youth tells the coach and team that they are from places like Nigeria, Cameroon, Brazil, etc.,, the coaches will usually believe they know how to play soccer.

Alozie packaged herself in this thought process, and from Highschool/College simply played in defense in the back when all the had to do was kick the ball out or head the ball somewhere...

Such things did not require much skill... and with long braids longer than Spain's Salma Paralluelo, braids reaching her bu.m, and mismatched shoes, Alozie packaged herself as something she was not- a real and good soccer player.

Fast forward to World Cup....

The useless Negro Football Federation without good preparation went to beg an American coach (who a year prior turned down the job) to coach them months before a major tournament... He looks at the potential rosters/player pool, and sees that Alozie plays for Dash... so of course she should know how to play, or at least shoot....

But against Canada sloppy, australia incredibly sloppy, Ireland Ridiculously sloppy, and of course against England- EMBARRASSING Sloppy..

This girl has no business playing professional or for any ones national team.

But then again, like Nigeria like Alozie- packaging until they are exposed of being quack....

I pity that half-cast girl Plumptre, our goalie, and other players that played their heart out only for a pretender to p.huck them...

BTW, she has gotten all her friends to go on social media to be praising her LOL...but who are they deceiving LOL

Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie seems to have gotten more than she bargained for after an interesting revelation about Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi.

FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, star Michelle Alozie seems to have had enough of the reactions to her confession about Alex Iwobi.

Alozie has been trending for days following what was an outstanding performance at the FIFAWWC in New Zealand and australia.

The 26-year-old was a part of the gallant Nigeria Falcons team that reached the round of 16 at the ninth women's world cup.

She was a constant feature for the multiple African champions and started all the games from group to the knockout stages.

Alozie on Iwobi
Following her displays in australia, Alozie’s popularity has skyrocketed, especially after the now infamous altercation with Lauren James in the round of 16 tie.

As reported by Pulse Sports, she revealed her Super Eagles crush which broke the internet.
According to the report, the defender has a crush on former Arsenal and national team, the Super Eagles’ playmaker Iwobi.

Her confession following a video posted by Pulse Sports led to reactions from Nigerians.

Alozie took to her account to reply to one of the posts with a clear call to action.

“Ressssttt,” she replied one of the accounts.

Sports / My Experience With A Star Super Falcons Player by EmekaStanley: 11:51am On Aug 12, 2023
2 days ago, I was lunching at a restaurant in Ikeja when one of the Super Falcons star player at the current Women's world cup in australia walked in with some family members.

While she walked up to the counter to place order, her family member sat opposite me. So I asked the family member and she confirmed she was actually the one.

I told the family member to go tell her that I wanted to pay for their food because of how much impressed I was on their performance at the world cup. The sister went to tell her but she declined.

After placing her orders, she came to my table and we started talking.

I asked her about this issue of NFF not paying them their money, and she said they are yet to receive their money, and they hardly get full payment on any money due to them, that a lot of times, their monies are slashed significantly, contrary to what the media is fed.

This means supposing they are being owed $20,000 each, after long time of owing, they will only get $10,000 and the rest will be written off or not be paid.

I felt bad about this; these are people who put a lot of things on the line to represent the country but the encouragement is almost non-existent.

In fact this beautiful lady told me that on their welfare, it's even worse behind the scenes but that she won't go into that.

I know the NFF has its own can of worms, but they should give these ladies what is due to them.

I don't even know who audits the NFF and how their operations are checkmated, it seems a lot is going on there that the ear will tingle when it hears it.

Running a government or a Federation should never be for personal profits.
If you cannot serve the people with less personal expectations, then you have no business being there.

We have a long way to go in this nation, but one right step at a time will take us there.

Sports / Sometimes We Shared Beds: Super Falcons Star Opens Up On Treatment At World Cup by damilola4162(m): 5:21pm On Aug 11, 2023
Super Falcons, striker Ifeoma Onumonu has opened up about the 'unacceptable' resources in Nigeria following their Women's World Cup exit to England.

The Super Falcons faced England in the last-16 tie but lost on penalties. The score line ended 4-2.

Onumonu, who led the line for the African nation against the Lionesses, highlighted the difference in the support that both teams received back home.

She told the Guardian: 'I've seen what England has access to. In Nigeria, we don't have access to much.

'Our training fields aren't great. Where we sleep isn't great. Sometimes we share beds.

'It's not good enough. In terms of recovery, we don't have much of any of that. We don't have access to a gym in a camp in Nigeria. There's a lot that needs to be done.'

The 29-year-old who plays for Gotham FC added that it was hard to adjust to the tournament in australia and New Zealand.

She said: 'We do what we can because we love playing for our country but hopefully they make it easier for us to do our best Back home the pitches aren't great. The grass is rocky, bumps everywhere. The stadium we play in for qualifying, you'd be surprised.

She also revealed that the under-20s side were 'sleeping in airports for 24 hours' after they were knocked out of the U20 World Cup in the quarter-finals last year.

'That's not acceptable. What we have to fight for is bigger than us,' she said.

The NFF has been heavily criticised for failing to pay players, poor facilities, a cancellation of a pre-tournament camp and interference in selection matters and staff appointments.

Earlier this week, the global players union' FIFPRO released a statement on behalf of the Nigeria Women's National team confirming they will assist the players in their ongoing dispute.

'Following the Nigeria women's national team's elimination from the FIFA Women's World Cup, FIFPRO can confirm it is assisting players in a disagreement with the Nigeria Football Federation concerning bonus payments, camp allowances, and expenses, some of which date back to 2021.

'During the World Cup, the players expressed the desire to remain focused on their performance without making public statements or facing other distractions. However, the Super Falcons believe that it is now time for the Nigeria Football Federation to honour their commitments and pay the outstanding amounts.

'The team is extremely frustrated that they have had to pursue the Nigeria Football Federation for these payments before and during the tournament and may have to continue doing so afterwards. It is regrettable that players needed to challenge their own federation at such an important time in their careers.

'FIFPRO will continue to work with the players to ensure their contractual rights are honoured and the outstanding payments are settled.'

Super Falcons star Michelle Alozie revealed that she has a crush on one of the Super Eagles stars.

Super Falcons of Nigeria and Houston Dash star Michelle Alozie has recently made the headlines after representing the national team at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in australia and New Zealand.

Since the start of the tournament, Alozie has been trending on social media over her stunning looks and her performances for the Falcons.

Pulse Sports reported that Alozie has also enjoyed a massive boost in her social media following despite Nigeria’s exit from the World Cup.

Alozie featured for Nigeria in all their matches so far at the Australian showpiece and was recently in the headlines after she was the victim of a negative gesture from England women’s star Lauren James who stepped on her during their match last week Monday.

James who was sent off for her unsportsmanlike conduct has already apologized to Alozie on social media and her England teammate over her actions and Alozie has also forgiven her going by her response on social media.

Michelle Alozie confesses she has a crush on Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi
Amid the growing love for Alozie on social media, there have been conversations about her relationship life as several fans have confessed their love for the 26-year-old winger.

However, Alozie has previously revealed that she has a crush on a player in the Super Eagles team.

During an Instagram live conversation in 2021 tagged “The three Musketeers”, Michelle Alozie when asked if she had any crushes on the men’s national team, she said, ‘Alex Iwobi,” as per OJB Sport.

Iwobi who currently plays for Everton has been ranked amongst the most fashionable Nigerian footballers in 2023 and has also caught the attention of female fans due to his good looks.

Alozie, whose relationship status remains unknown has on the other hand, been ranked as the ‘hottest’ Nigerian female footballer in 2023.

The makeshift defender saw her stocks rise at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and has reportedly gained over 140,000 followers on her Instagram account.

Undefeated Super Falcons arrive in Lagos, Nigeria without Waldrum, set to be received by First Lady Tinubu.

After finishing in the second round of the FIFA Women's World Cup taking place in New Zealand and australia, the Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Lagos.

The Super Falcons landed in Lagos from australia on Wednesday, August 10 at the Murtala Muhammed Airport.

The Super Falcons team was incomplete upon its arrival, as some other players left australia for their respective bases.

Waldrum is not part of Super Falcons arrival in Nigeria
Super Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum, left the camp on Tuesday and flew back to his headquarters in the United States.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not yet commented on whether to renew the American manager's contract, which ended after the World Cup.
