As much as I like La Pulga (more than you even), I believe the Balon d'or baton has just been transferred to Neymar.

To be frank... Messi is the greatest with or without the Balon d'or. So he doesn't need to win it for a million times to prove himself. With what he has won, coupled with the legacy he has laid, there is no doubt that Messi is the greatest ever.

If Messi wants to win the next Balon d'or, nothing will stop him. But I think Messi feels what I am saying now. You can see it from the way he plays now. He now plays more for his strike partners than for himself even. I think he has obligation to make Neymar the next World-best player.

So, he can't let Neymar feel Ronaldo's pain. Rather, he will help Neymar get the award.
