Political position and money indeed corrupts. This same Ubani was a leading advocate of justice, anti corruption and fighting for the common good. I wouldn't have believed he is capable of such lies. |
853km from the airport😕 Lagos to Aba is about 650km. What is the entire distance length of Abia state? |
MartinsD12:So kidnappers move with hoes, cutlass, dogs and dane guns? How many kidnap victims have the vigilante rescued and how many kidnappers with real guns have they confronted in the forest? |
guysbewise:Don't mind them. I have asked, since kidnappers started operating in Edo and Uromi in particular,as alleged, why haven't the vigilantes confronted them during the act or gone to the forests to engage them? Yes,kidnappers just like rapists and armed robbers can test your humanity but these guys have already been surrounded, ordered down and disarmed. Why not take them to the town chief,if you are not confident the police would not release them? |
MartinsD12:Have you not been reading the stories or you just depend on what agents of tribal division post here on nland? They were passing through Uromi on their way to the North from Rivers state to celebrate the Sallah. They packed themselves on a Dangote truck as Northerners usually do,to reduce costs and have a sense of community and security when travelling in such numbers. One valid point made by a survivor is this:if they were kidnappers, why would they be so foolish to pass through the community town in a truck they know they could easily be stopped and apprehended and in broad day light! |
14 people arrested is an insult! This is human lives we are talking about,14 human lives killed like cows with community agreement. Many members of the community hailed and cheered and even mocked as these innocent aboki hunters were roasted like cows The community bears collective guilt and deserve community punishment. How could not one person in that mob voice concern and pleaded that they be taken to the police station or at least the chief of the town! |
That community should be taken over. This is collective guilt and murder because from the narration,it seems it was members of the community that raised the false alarm of the hunters being kidnappers and every other person present acquised and took part in the broad day light gruesome murder. The police should seal the community. It's not enough for just 14 people to be arrested,it was a community arrest, prosecution, judgement and execution! The same people they labelled as kidnappers have been active in the community according to their defence,so while hasn't the vigilante entered the forests to confront the kidnappers who usually operate with AK 47,but yet now showing their overzealously on disarmed travellers? |
I am still doubting this barbarity because been on X trying to read about this story, but nothing. If this is true,is posted on X and goes viral, people living in that axis of Uromi should just find another place to live for the next few months at least because the government would be under pressure to act both internally from Northerners and externally from international human right organisations and governments and unfortunately the only way Nigerian governments right from the days of Obasanjo know how to react to such events is to use the military to raze towns down. I am still hoping for the sake of Uromi people, that it's not true |
Bendeco02:Just read what you typed.Just read! Let's even assume they are kidnappers(which I don't even believe),is killing them not utter foolishness, asides being barbaric? You arrest kidnappers, you ask them questions to know sponsors,if others etc,to prevent future attacks. But this kidnapping tale is pure fabrication by the vigilantes and community to justify these barbarity;kidnappers would be dropped way off the community town, from there they make their way to the forests to plan any so called kidnapping. The community should get ready for what awaits them because even God will punish them for this outright murder! |
Prechgold1180:Nothing justifies the killing of those people, that the community have already caught. The funny thing is that Fulani herdsmen overrun your farms, rape women, these same vigilantes can't go to the bush or forest to look for them, but have the mind to burn 10 disarmed people, with dane guns! If army comes to overrun that community now, people will start bringing up tribal talk. |
Aonkuuse:Is this real! 10 people set ablaze!! No, I still don't believe this is real!!! Even if they are armed robbers and kidnappers, how can you set 10 human beings you already caught, ablaze!!! Until the police authenticates this report,i fail to believe. |
arsenal33:Just shows you how low journalism practice has sunk. A major newspaper with reporters and editors can't detect such blatant grammatical error. Many print media outlets now are more like glorified blogs, it's either they publish gossip as news without doing basic verification or are filled with grammatical errors. From that same axis,it was Daily Trust that first posted the story of the former customs DG having gone to a bank, withdrew money then got kidnapped and killed! Even a child would feel there was something off about the story and make some calls around the area where this took place. No,they just hear a story and rush to publish, that is why there are grammatical errors because no fact checking,no editing. |
Jokerman:That is ehn. Very risky way to do business. Paying back loans for businesses is very difficult because any single factor or policy can just upend the business and before you know it one year to start repaying with the enormous interest has reached! How businesses even make the repayment of these Nigerian bank loans with interest of at least 35% is astounding. |
Barteze:That is ehn! On no account do communities sell communal land, even families don't sell family lands on no account, even in extreme cases of hunger, unless they have large inherited lands and even after selling, each male family member will still have his own portion of the land remaining. |
edochie12:I hope his madness no reach Enugwu Ukwu and Abatete lands? People I know have told me about this communal land issue with this Owelle. |
Manihotspp:He may have done an illegality for which he deserves to pay,but this has nothing to do with your prayers and curses. If you believe it was, then whatsover god you serve must be the Devil himself in disguise, for why would your prayers lead not to the death of the person that inflicted your pain, but the innocent wife? Now she is dead, believe me the Kola Daisi would go and marry another wife, even probably younger and more beautiful and still be enjoying the wealth from the lands he usurped from you people. Who even tells you it wasn't even his desire for this wife to go for him to enjoy what she may have been blocking by her continued presence in his life? If your prayers and god really works, harm should be on the man directly, not wife, siblings or inlaws! |
2cribz:Maybe one of those incurable diseases or cancer that has advanced beyond the stage that even the best care can't help any longer. Same thing with 1 or 2 former top US officials and I think one was the first US black congresswoman who died in the same 40's age range due to cancer. There are some health issues, even the best of science and medical care still don't have answers for. |
yahoodetector:You wanted to look smart and woke but only ended up disgracing yourself:so you didn't read where pencil light was specifically mentioned or your brain is regressing? Now tell me sorry. |
idahme:By your own logic,it means Lagos Island alone should have about 10 LGAs and when the new Eko Atlantic city is finished with most businesses and even embassies having headquarters there, that one too will become a LG,Eko Atlantic LGA? |
Dead on arrival. Before such bill will be passed, other states would demand the number of lgs also be increased. They cannot pass such bill in isolation unless it's now zombies that are present in both houses. |
So with all the millions they stole,it was pencil light one of they could buy? It could however,be possible that the Nigerian police confiscated other assets and failed to disclose it,so that the officers involved can collect those secretly. They would have either threatened or told the fraudsters they would get lenient terms or even scots free if they corporate about the hidden assets and agree to forfeit them directly to the officers involved in the case. |
I have no doubt Natasha is saying the truth about sexual harassment and advances from Akpabio, but the fact remains she is not doing it as a fight for morality or trying to make Akpabio and men in his class pay for their sexual crimes. Natasha is doing this because there was disagreement or reneging of a sort of understanding she had with Akpabio likely over commitee positions or contract issues. Akpabio probably promised her a lucrative commitee chairmanship or contract in exchange she going down with him. Both sides reneged on their part of the agreement, hence each is now using tools or evidence at their disposal to bring down each other. Both are not upright, both are carrying out their actions purely for selfish reasons. |
Preposterous duplication of function and waste of funds! The thing to do is let INEC oversee all elections including the LG that governors now use as compensation tools. Change the calendar and make LG elections nationwide to hold 2 years into the tenure of the presidency,a sort of mid term election and each tenure should also be for 4 years. This way,you have a free, fair election and a sort of assessment of the performance of the president half way into his tenure. It also makes the LG responsive because each candidate knows they can't rely on the bandwagon effect of having their election hold same period as that of the National and state |
That goal keeper that is always showing himself has conceded a cheap goal! |
Let the blame game start. Just watch as people that praised the new coach to high heavens suddenly change their tones! Dindirins!! |
ArchEnemy:Exactly. |
Just 45mins mouth don dey change compared to Rwanda match. The same set of people that were praising the new coach and players to high heavens, are the same set,now casting same forward line and team. If you continue looking at results only to judge a team, you would always have this kind of reaction. But if you critically point out areas of shortcomings while praising good play, then you won't be disappointed. I repeat,Nigeria would still likely win this match, but I also repeat the new coach so far has not done anything different from what Eguavon and Finidi did:same bunch of main players, same slow approach, only Osimhein always trying to add some bite. A new coach that has something new to bring would not start Chukwueze and Ndidi. Nobody is asking why he is playing Aina as a left, rather than a right full back. |
ceejay80s:Stop lying. Where you see 1.5 odds if it's only this game you bet on? No bookie go ever and ever give home win for this match more than 1.25,so where you see your 1m to win 1.5m? |
They were shouting against Rwanda that Chelle has done magic. I argued that Nigeria is not playing anything different from what Finidi and Eguavon played, just slight extra zeal. Even though Nigeria will likely stil win today, but can anyone pinpoint any change of pattern or players? What is Chukwueze doing on the field. He has never had a good game in Nigeria colors for a long while |
Uhm. This is giving me electricity vibes when Nigerians used to say just give us regular supply we would pay,now most people are crying because of bills. Let it not be that when the public water supply is made available, people would have to pay through their noses and then say they are going back to borehole or even buying water, like it's happening with electricity now where some homes and businesses are ditching the electricity companies and resorting to Solar. |
Car321:This thread reminds me of when nairaland used to be the go to source for original news and insightful discourse. There was a time nairaland used to be the source of news for other mainstream and SM Blogs with articles and quotes being lifted from this site. Unfortunately,Seun took his eyes off the ball or became static and allowed the hoarde of liars, disinformants, scammers, ethnic and religious jingoists to take over the site. This information from this Op can be seen or passed to the NFF who can then pursue the case with CAF or FIFA. |
ambale:I think some still in business is because there is no other thing for them to do or they feel they can do. Many businesses are running at an enormous loss but you ask yourself,if I close, what else is there for me to do,where else can I get money even if it's not regular and I have to use it to pay debts, all into transport or even buying expensive fuel if your biz is one that requires your having electric power most times. No wonder the number of people now into Sports betting has increased tremendously, people trying to see if they will be lucky to have that money that is not coming from their businesses or work place. |
