Update from A University of Port-Harcourt (UNIPORT) Student captivates the attention of onlookers in a popular shopping mall in Choba Ph, after mistakenly recharging the sum of N3M instead of N3K, Siggy reveals. In the video making rounds on social media, the young man in question is seen rolling on the bare floor after suffering what seems to be a severe heartbreak from topping up the wrong amount of airtime. Instead of the sum of three thousand naira, the young man topped up his phone with three million naira. On realizing his mistake, he broke down in tears as onlookers helped him up and encouraged him to seek a reversal through the bank. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLsGoNkYBiY https:///uniport-student-breaks-down-after-recharging-3m-instead-of-3k-video/

Update from The people of the university community of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, are in tragedy struck at Akpabio Hostel of the university, leading to a pandemonium following the sound of an explosion, Siggy reports. The explosion happened precisely in room 106 of the said hostel and came reportedly from a leaky gas cylinder. The victims were reportedly trying to cook with the faulty cylinder when the cylinder exploded. University sources disclosed that there is a rule against cooking in the hostel, which the victims flouted by smuggling in and using their gas cooker and stove to cook inside the hostel. The victims, who were two undergraduates of the university, received third-degree burns and had to be moved from the UNN Medical Centre to the Traumatic centre of the National Orthopaedic Hospital by their parents. Confirming the accident to newsmen in Nsukka on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Igwe, regretted the incident, pointing out that he set up a committee to undertake door to door search of the hostels to fish out defaulters of the rule prohibiting cooking in hostels and charged that culprits would be sent off-campus where they would be free to cook on their own. https:///cooking-gas-explosion-rocks-akpabio-hostel-university-of-nigeria/

Update from A computer science graduate from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Moyinoluwa Adeyemi, has developed an Android watch that tells time in Yoruba language. The Nigerian software developer, achieved the milestone by building a special android watch that tells time in Yoruba Language, Siggy reports. The young lady got a degree in computer science from Obafemi Awolowo University and now a software engineer at Swifta Systems. The idea to create the watch came on a Friday evening when she looked at the clock and thought about the possibility of it telling time in Yoruba. Before she came up with the idea, Moyinoluwa had to do extensive research before birthing one of the Yoruba Watch Faces models. Sharing the news on Facebook, Obafemi Awolowo University wrote; “3 Gbosa For OAU Graduate, Moyinoluwa Adeyemi, Who Built An Android Watch That Tells Time In Yoruba Language Moyinoluwa Adeyemi studied Computer Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, she is now a Software Engineer at Swifta Systems and also a co-organizer at Google Developers Group. One Friday evening after work, she had an aha moment. She looked at a clock and thought “What if it could tell the time in Yoruba?”. That question has lead to the development of an Android Watch Face that tells time in Yoruba language. It wasn’t simple as a,b,c, she had to get ideas from some of her friends and do extensive research before she came up with a working prototype. It will probably be the first ever indigenous watch face app on the google play store. Yoruba Watch Faces by Moyin is a collection of Watch Faces built in a popular local Nigerian dialect. There are currently two Watch Faces in the collection both of which are in Yoruba Language. The illustrations were created by @TheVunderkind and they depict a man and a woman dressed in the traditional Yoruba attire. The Watch Faces work on all screen types; chin, square and circle.” https:///female-graduate-builds-android-watch-that-tells-time-in-yoruba-language/

He shared photos of the sexagenarian in her work outfit and another in her graduation gown as she held onto her certificate. The woman’s achievement was a cause to celebrate and netizens did not hesitate to congratulate her, reveals. Reacting, @MafReshho wrote; Mama has achieved what she always wanted to…so proud of her .. there are so many battles in this thing called life, she could have just easily lost interest and moved on but No, she did what she had always wanted to do. She won @KhakhathiNyengi; How clever of her. She will get a job and immediately retire and eat her pension. We thought Thought balloon. @SebzHama; It’s an inspiration for people to see you can achieve anything if you put your mind and work towards to it. The retirement age in Mzansi is 60yrs for women. That degree can then be used to run her own business one day. I believe this was a personal goal to say I did it. @MrBashele; Knowledge is power, the time a person stops learning, for me is as good as dead. I’m inspired @og_papi; She also wanted to show the young ones, nothing is impossible, so excellent motivation right there, a real #WCW #Womandla Raised fist degree or certificate she did it. @manjara47; I showed my mom this, telling her that she can still get that law degree she has always wanted. She just said ay that another G63 where is she going to work @VelemseniVilane; Congrats… Some saying it’s too late, but Gogo has achieved something that some of them can never achieve in their lifetime. Not everything in life is about money,… some of our dreams are not for sale. https:///60-year-old-house-help-inspires-many-as-she-bags-business-management-degree/

Update from Rita Awuni, a 17-year-old orphan, has returned to school after giving birth to her son, defying the social stigma and stereotype to continue her education, gathers. The new mother gave birth to her son, Sampson Awuni, and soon returned to school in February this year, said Senyuiedzorm Awusi Adadevoh, a Ghanaian photojournalist, in a Facebook post. Unlike other students elsewhere, Rita is fortunate to be in the same school with her child and can breastfeed or provide him with a hot beverage during break time, thanks to a special arrangement her school put in place for her. Sharing Awuni's story on Facebook, Senyuiedzorm indicated that her attention was driven to the sight of a teenager with a baby strapped to her back in school. She said, ''Rita Awuni, a teenage orphan, returned to school in February this year after giving birth to her son Sampson Awuni. ''Very taken by the sight, I asked her how she manages the child during school, and she tells me a most "amazing" thing, "Oh he goes to The KG side and I go to breastfeed or give him 'koko' at break time,'' an arrangement her school put in place for her." She continued: ''... Rita who together with her son sleeps at the art centre sells pure water after school for their upkeep. Rita could not hide her confusion of my fascination with her, to ease her up I said to her "you see, not long ago I had to put my child at my back to work just like this, but I am 40 years old" that made her smile and started talking to me and gladly stood for the photos.''
