Oil, as ever, is still the mainstay of the Venezuelan economy.Nigeria would soon be on the news for similar reasons ![]() |
Probably hiding bombs between the leaves of those books ![]() |
If Alan Little could respond effectively to everything Ojo Maduekwe says meaning that he understood and somehow you sit here to suggest that you are too english to understand what Ojo Maduekwe was saying.LOL, and these same people would be complaining of inferiority complex. No where in my post did I say the "African accent" sounded local or the "Nigerian accent sounded local. I said "his accent sounded local, meaning to ME and ME only. I dont care what Alan Little (WHOEVER HE IS), thinks. Neither do I care about the foreign minister of other countries and how they talk. If the scottish prime minister speaks terrible that is his or her business. However, I expect more for my own minister- kapische? Uche2nna:That's actually true- he did defend his boss which is an important part of being a government official. I really did not look at it that way, but still sometimes a country's image is better than defending your boss. These guys really dont care about us ![]() |
asha 80:Nigerians and "blaming every situation on white people" complex Y'all should better soji yourself. Pulling the Colonial guilt card can't help us anymore. If you have a problem with crisp and articulate English, please stop speaking English and start talking in your native language. Would you like it if someone spoke igbo with a thick accent? Would you bother listening to them? Moreover, I dislike people with thick non-english accents myself most especially Italians. I can stand it when an Italian talks English. Howver, I get really happy when I hear one speak with a British accent because it classier and easier to understand. In case you don't know, Nigeria has got some of the best brains when it comes to policy formulation. Nigeria's programs and policies have always been excellent. I don't know if you have been opportune to have a glimpse of any like the SAP programme of IBB or the NEEDS by Soludo. The problem has always been with implementation and that is as a result of corruption which has eaten deep into the fabrics of our nation. , For one that is not foreign policy. Secondly the SAP policy was a bretton woods-IMF collaboration and was not thought up by any supposed "Nigerian intellectuals." Olu Falae was noted for pushing the program through, however the program was disastrous if I remember my history correctly. However, SAP was successful in several other countries ![]() No Nigeria does not have exceptional policy formulation. I will stand by this. I have argued several times that we lack any strong policy but someone keeps bring really illogical examples. Furthermore, Soludo's NEEDS policy was an upshoot of the SAP program. Basically he re-modeled a preexisting but outdated macroeconomic formula. He did not bring something unique or new to the system. Man we are really in lack of intellectuals I must say I feel Nigeria needs more development economists. |
@ bolded, could you please tell me what the functions of a minister are or are you telling me Nigeria no longer has a foreign policy. We have no foreign policy mate. Nada. I don't think Nigeria would have taken steps (before the Christmas attack) to address religious problems if al qaeda decided to set up shop in the heart of the North. Foreign policy my a.s.s. Nigeria does not know where it is going internally, talk less of a well planned foreign policy. The only thing we have is oil policy ![]() |
There is no bias here dude, we all know things are not working well in Nigeria but we shouldn't let our emotions becloud our sense of reasoning.
Hmm Ok, its quite perfect for our foreign minister to disgrace all of us in front of BBC. The problem is that I expected far more from Maduekwe. If it was Yar'adua I would not have commented ![]() Does anyone have a background profile of Maduekwe? |
I smell some bias in the defense of this i.d.i.ot |
@ bolded, could you please tell me what the functions of a minister are or are you telling me Nigeria no longer has a foreign policy.A foreign minister is not allowed to act without direction. He does so after consultation with the president who later puts it in front of the upper and lower houses of the legislation. Who is Ojo Maduekwe reporting to, is what this interviewer was really interested in ![]() Abeg they should quickly put brother Jona there and stop this embarassment |
It has always been standard practice in Nigeria that the Minister of information is the one to make a statement on such issues. Remember Walter Ofonagoro under Abacha and Uche Chukwumerije as the minister of Information and propaganda in Biafra.Great examples of exemplary Government. Anyways, I am talking of issues of international concern. None of these dealt with foreign relations. |
On the ascent issueSo all of una would not be leaving the accent issue? By the way it is spelled a.c.c.e.n.t |
Also, last time I checked, the principal mandate of the Federal ministry of information and communication is "To proactively inform, enlighten, and educate the citizenry on the activities, actions, policies and programmes of government". So, what is wrong in Dora Akunyili issuing a statement on the issue albeit on behalf of the government? Before the foreign minister? Moreover Akunyili's response was late. By the time she had issued her statement, Nairaland's page on Mutallab was 40 pages. If she had logged on to Nairaland instead of eating fried chicken and jollof rice she would have learned about the news faster ![]() |
RichyBlacK:Errrm, Ok, Could you now go away? lets address the important issues at hand- the unattainable dumbness of our foreign minister . Forget the accent thing is was a sidenote- I actually sound exactly like that However, i doubt i would look so stupid on TV. He could have formulated various responses. A better one: "After significant deliberation with both the senate as well as the vice-president I have decided to act this way" not just claiming to know the vision of the president- is Maduekwe a Dibia? The interviewer was shocked about Maduekwe's assertion about autonomy without an influence from anyone. Nigerians always out to impress but doing so the wrong way ![]() And I thought George Bush was the standard for political i.d.i.o.c.y, well Maduekwe is making his mark around the world ![]() |
Thanks for that link. My sister Chimamanda Adichie is refreshing any day. She reminds me of the okoro spirit.Yeah and isn't she beautiful. I have decided to marry her. We would be doing our traditional in her village. You would see me in igbo attire very soon, I would post my pictures ![]() |
asha 80:For those without ethics yes. I think I have standards for myself. I take a job, and I do it. Hence the difference between "smart people" and "average people." When I am offered something to do i do it to the best of my ability and leave if I don't meet expectations. I would expect Maduekwe to have the same standards. Nigerian factor ko, mutallab factor ni. Lazy is lazy-call it what you want. The i.d.i.o.t should Resign, na by force to be a foreign minister if you are powerless? |
asha 80:If I was foreign minister and Nigerians get executed as much as they do in China, I would have at least done something to create an extradition agreement with China. And if I get blocked by the president, I will resign from my position- like Okonjo Iweala (Very Honorable and respectable woman unlike ashewo Maduekwe). If you are hindered from performing your job, why stay in it? |
asha 80:When has this happened? China executed a British Citizen (Non-white) and see how much media coverage . America would request for their citizen to be extradited and China will oblige period. Respect your elders is how the game is played in international circles ![]() |
asha 80:The accent was a sidenote by the way. Moreover, I don't really care where Ojo is from- if he was yoruba I would have called it an ogbomosho accent, and if he was hausa, I would have called it a sokoto accent. I dont even know where onitsha is . The big difference between him and chiamanda is a lack of confidence. I don't want my foreign minister to be talking like a lazy man full of palm wine right in front of BBC.Anyways my gripe is with the whole Nigerian government and that's it. Bunch of incompetent fools. |
At first bolded really?Yeah what did I say was wrong? |
This is an example of a non-local classy accent, compare it to Ojo Maduekwe ![]() Local Onithsa village man ![]() Kai if this is who is representing us on the local stage, man we are laughing stock of the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9Ihs241zeg |
"Without being immodest about it, the president chose . . . " "Depends on the president vision. I know what the president's vision is "LOL |
I wonder why you guys are bothered about Sefago's comments on the accent of a thing when he is epitome of why the white people refer to africans as monkeys. The white people can call Africans monkey because we have no bargaining power, no international clout no confidence neither are we organized or introspective. If we had an arrogant, and confident foreign minister without a bush accent , you wouldn't have Nigerian youths being killed in china like chicken while the chinese are buying oil blocks in Nigeria. As for Maduekwe he deserves a bullet to his skull for disgracing nigeria and himself. That's all I want, your insults aside, we want the same thing ![]() |
get the eff outta here. .with your self hating as*s. .always trying to justify your inferiority complex with the white man what do u mean by local accent?. . whose accent is not local now? your white man that taklks through the nose? u nigerians never fail to amaze me. . . ojo madueke is doing a good job representing Nigeria in these trying times sometimes u guys take white ppl too seriously. . well maybe because i see them everyday, but i aint impressed that dude asking questions, should go ask obama why he lost the senate seat in Massachusetts and will probably loose the elections in 2010, if he is doing such a good job and ask gordon brown why he will be booted out in the uk this yr. . . every country got problems, and majority of ppl aint happy whether in the U.K,U.S or Nigeria so let him go pull the speck outta his eye first am sick of Nigerians taking the words of these crackas as the gospel truth
For starters maduekwe is not doing a good job representing Nigeria. Infact the guy exemplifies everything that is wrong with Nigeria. Even after the attempted attack, the first person to issue a statement was Dora Akunyili, like WTF. I would have expected the guy to have issued a statement quickly but no it had to be another government official not tied to foreign relations. Moreover, his attitude in that interview was silly. First of all he started with some self-aggrandizement which was uncalled for, which he finished up with some unsatisfactory answer. Anyone with an IQ above 3, would know that foreign policy is dictated by the president in accordance with the wishes of the legislative arms and his various advisers not by one single foreign minister. That was the interviewer was asking about- the absence and lack of a central figure to review and issue foreign policy. As for the accent it is local from my perspective. I wasn't talking to people like you. If you lived amongst the upper-crust of Lagos society you would know why I termed it local. I did not say he should speak with a Brit or American accent, but with some clarity, confidence and distinctiveness. The accent is local and Onitsha Village sounding accent .No, I don't take "white people seriously" except when they are speaking in regards to my country. Stop comparing US and UK to Nigeria. If the American president was missing in action then he would have been impeached by lawmakers a long time ago. No country should be on stand still for one man only. The interviewer was just surprised about the fact that Nigeria had no president despite facing various issues of international importance. FYI Obama and Gordon are asked uncomfortable questions on a daily basis- however the only person I know who answers questions as stupidly as Maduekwe is Bush. It might be difficult for you to grasp but Nigeria is quite an anomaly in any study of political theory ![]() Missing president, inane foreign minister What more could you ask for to destroy a country? Gone are the days of Jaja Wachuku |
omoibo olodo oshi ![]() Where is mekusxxx to defending the olodoness of his tribesman? The guy's accent sounded so local LOL. And the guy thought it was a good opportunity for him to boast about his 10 years of experience. Who gives a Zap? ![]() |
I dont like hairy people of any kind ![]() |
anyways sha, you all should go with ur craziness. Abeg I have real work to do. H2O2 deal with all these Hot jobless girls. And please don't write an apology letter to them abeg ![]() |
michelin89:Not funny
OMG can somebody shut this lil boy up?
Its called freedom speech. I am not a little boy. If you are using it as a derogatory term not working.I read everything man, waste of my time reading so much to find out later that this was an apology |
