If those are your arguments, why are we not seeing proper developments at the LG and State levels? Afterall, there are Igbo running Abia, Yoruba in Oyo, and Fulani in Sokoto.
lol, good point though

The embassy visit by Abdulmatallab's father triggered a Nov. 20 State Department cable from Lagos to all U.S. diplomatic missions and department headquarters in Washington. It was also shared with the interagency National Counter Terrorism Center, said State Department spokesman Ian Kelly.

The NCTC, which has responsibility if any visas are to be pulled over terrorism concerns, then reviewed the information and found it was "insufficient to determine whether his visa should be revoked," Kelly said.
I dont know if this is recent news. Its on yahoo

There is an invisible line between politics and tribalism in Nigeria. Has been so since the "carpet crossing" incident.
This has actually reminded me of one of the main concerns I wanted to bring up.

Why is "politics" as discussed on Nairaland discussed along tribal lines or supposed important news. Why is the absence of political philosophy and ideology rarely discussed.

I understand that the average Nairalander is not adequately equipped in discussing some sort of political philosophy but no attempt has been made. I haven't seen someone open a thread about how to improve our political sysem (not along geo-political terms) or why is it that no damn party back home is known for any real ideas. U know like Republicans in America are known as racist, rich-people loving, and corporate America friendly party grin while the democrats have been seen as liberal, excessive spending and prone to let american get runover by terrorist party  angry. No one talks about this- if your government is not built on some sort of intellectualism it will burn. So whats really political about the politics section except a place for people to discuss recent events and insult our leaders

(6) Why is nobody questioning the route that faruq took (making sure he passed through Nigeria before the incident) and the time factor related to his  movement. Aviation experts in Nigeria here should tell us if this is the only route possible and why?
It is likely that Nigeria's lack of security could be a cause. In other countries, it would have been red flag if a foreign citizen of Nigerian man named "Umar Mutallab" is taking a flight to Amsterdam to USA. But not so much if you are in Nigeria you home country.

20 years you.re kidding right? Even his charge sheet will read more than 20 counts and he'll most likely get maximum sentence for each count, even if he chickens out and gave info that leads to the arrest of bin Ladden, he still be in for as long as Methusela lived
Possible, they might find several things to charge him with I admit
Politics › Re: Breaking News: Mutallab Family Issues Statement by SEFAGO(m): 9:43pm On Dec 28, 2009
^Not rily, he would get a maximum prison sentence of 20 years supposedly and at the age of 43 would be out

I DO NOT LIKE YOU!!!! Angry

insecurity has nothing to do with it.  You are cheesy.
Mandingo are you really an african american? I have always wondered why someone who is black could be so self-deprecating

The point has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that 'illegal mining of resources' is taking place in Western & Northern Nigeria. i.e. 100% resource control is already being practiced.

It is disingenuous of some people to ignore this fact. To borrow a phrase from becomrich some regions are 'still sucking bosom'.
Lol illegal mining doesn't mean 100% resource control. The state has no hand in it while no significant revenue is being obtained. However, I get your point.

^maybe because I just judged people by their personality. Now I have to be watching everyone in case they might think just like some people here. I group on in a different environment from you guys probably. However, I admit I learn more and more but what I learn isnt really good.
Politics › Re: Open Letter To Seun And Politics Section Moderator(s) by SEFAGO(m): 8:04pm On Dec 28, 2009
Agreed, including secession which should not be moved to the tribalism and racism section. All options should be on this table of political section of nairaland.
But secession is 100% likely to degenerate into a tribalism thread except if the people discussing are of the same ethnic group or from the same region. Usually you secede because you dont like people. Now to secede you have to present these people with the reasons you do not like them. This is not going to make them happy.

Palm oil was the one of the driving economic forces of the then eastern regional economy at a time that that region was regarded as the fastes growing economy in the world

Hmm not really NL is a joke to me just like  becomrich. In real life I am a perfect gentleman who wants the best for everyone even my hausa brethren who are going to make my butt crack checked everytime I go into the airport. However, I would never have been pushed into being so rude if i did not find so many rude people.

I have frequented "oyibo" forums and I have never engaged in a fight with everyone. Coming to Nairaland was one of the biggest mistake of my life. I got the opportunity to meet the worst nigeria could offer and I joined them 100% grin.

No shaking and no regrets- I have on NL for a long time and this is just a phase.

Different kinds of issues have been discussed in this thread! thus permanently driving the rationale behind the creation of the Thread into Oblivion.
Back to topic- so as you guys noticed even Onitsha boys like mekusxx can carry civil conversations for more than 5 minutes. So what is the root  of all this anger on Nairaland? Agreed things might not work out but we could discuss everything without getting angry at each other.

If i am not mistaking ondo state has Bitumen in commercial quantities and also  highly educated people of ondo origin.
hmm so who will buy this bitumen, when larger supplies can be found in India and Bangladesh hence driving the price down for these so-called resources?
Politics › Re: Open Letter To Seun And Politics Section Moderator(s) by SEFAGO(m): 7:42pm On Dec 28, 2009
As I expected no specific quantification. Its all good to list supposed resources, but how economically feasible are these resources?
