Okonjo-Iweala did not achieve that; the Paris club members had decided to cut the debt of third world countries due to pressure from various pressure groups in the western countries. It just so happened that she was the finance minister at that time. She be winch or she put jazz for mouth?
Thats very true. I am not trying to demean her achievements or anything. I am trying to show that proffering a solution is impossible for Nigeria. The other option of breaking up doesn't seem really good either.

After being on NL for some time, all my childish thoughts of radically change Nigeria have been dashed. So I would be realistic- we are at a stalemate, we need ethnic detribalization fast, but that is wishful thinking considering the fact that few of our leaders are real intellectuals. The only way for Nigeria to move on is when we consider each other the same.

A loose confederation seems like a partially good idea but who goes with whom and who stays with whom? This loose confederation business reminds me of becomrich's scehmes

If she channeled some of the wealth that her husband stole into giving scholarships and doing worthwhile development projects, and changing the lives of other nigerians we no go vex. But the woman made sure she enjoyed life to the fullest- why impede the insults abeg everyone carry on jare

The problem with inquiring from Nigerians is that most of the people then were not educated enough to understand the idea of a nation so consulting about a group of nation with Africans wasn't really a viable option.

Let me start. Britain's decision to create a country called Nigeria might have been arbitrary but it is not unique or insumountable. Most people claim to have studied History but what type of history? How did cameroon start? How did Ghana start? Turkey? Most modern nations were geographical expressions and only through a wave of nationalism were these differences surmountable.

Not long ago the list was like this

The President of this country is a southerner,
The Minister of Finance, a southerner,
The Minister of Works a southerner
The Minister of Petroleum a northerner,
The CBN Governor a southerner,
The head of PHCN a northerner,
The head of NNPC a northerner

Don't have any idea about those that headed NNPC and PHCN so cannot comment on them.

Out of the 7 listed above the southerners accounted for 4 so we should not blow issues out of proportion unless of course you complained in the last dispensation that southerners were too many.
So the most important thing on the list is how many southerners dey?

The most obvious reason is that the Nigerian population was not consulted before the country was created. The example you gave of the US couldn't be farther away from ours, that country's existence is based on treaty after treaty. What is ours based on aside from British interests and sentiment?
So you want the "Nigerian" population to be given survey form by Lord Lugard to mark:
Do you want a country called Nigeria (cute name from my babe) [  ]          I dont want a country called Nigeria [  ]

1.For the first time in the history of the country, the annual budget is going to be
signed by nigerian president in saudi arabia sick bay.

2.Our refineries are refinning crude at over 100% installed capacity and fuel yapka everywhere in the counrty.

3.Our roads are in splendid and excellent states.

4.CBN is doing excellently well and the govnor is the worlds best cbn govenor going by his latest achievement.

5. NEPA is doing wonderfully well and power failure is history in nigeria.

6.Lately,a northernan has done nigeria proud by attempting to bomb america.
Not enough proof.

Look at this:

1. Dora Akunyili despite her so-called rebranding campaign has been mired in several corruption scandals and her integrity has been called into question.

2. Our minister for foreign affairs Ojo Maduekwe is busy gallivanting around and spending billions of our money on foreign trips.

3. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala despite her pedigree was unable to achieve anything really significant for us except a loan forgiveness.

4. Obasanjo's government was corrupt like hell. Enough said.

5. Dimeji Bankole. Enough said

6. Michael Akhigbe during abdulsalami's interim government enough said.

7. The significant number of southerners during Obasanjo's government that didn't do crap. The situation under Obasanjo and Yar'adua are really not that different even though Yar'adua is presiding over a recession.

And it goes on- where these the most qualified peoople?

Best qualified? Mountain of excuses why the 6000mw has gone with the winds?
They are best qualified for fuel scarcity and orchestrating the Nigerians paradox. Plenty of raw materials for refineries that cannot work? Even the small countries of W.Africa are mocking us right now.
So what is your solution?

Calm down!
Do you think we are under a dictatorial military regime? If anybody feels the solution to Nigeria's problems is secession, let them air it. Abi you no want solution?
If something isn't working, why keep it?

Can you honestly give one simple reason why Nigeria must be kept together (aside from blind "patriotism" or sentiment)? Where is our "president" (PDP's Northern rotation president)?
Can you give one sensible reason why Nigeria should be divided? I hope you are intelligent enough not to suggest silly things. The only reason I would support a secession from Nigeria of any kind is a proven case of genocide or possibility of an economically viable state. You cannot just allow countries start breaking because some tom, dick and harry are not happy.

Every country has their problems and if they all dealt with it by breaking up, then there would be a million countries. Moreover, there would not even be countries like the United States.

Politics › Re: Will Nigeria Ever Be Trusted? by SEFAGO(m): 3:32pm On Dec 28, 2009
Most likely if it is proved that the terrorist was radicalized in london, then things might not be that bad for Nigeria. However, in my experience, when you apply for a student visa in the US embassy males of 16-45 are required to fill out a form. Most people have never really thought much about the meaning of this form but I have some friends who work in US embassies and they told me that its usually pertinent for countries deemed as a threat. Males of 16-45 are most likely to be terrorist (which is actually true grin).

So it is very likely that lots of Nigerian males could require security clearance before they get travel or student visas.

Man now I wish I was a girl

Another example from alaigbo professor Dede 1

We must admit that Nigeria had war of attrition (wrong word choice)and the scars left by the war (very wordy sentence) are still reverberating on the peoples’ consciousness.
Correction from Nigbati professor:

We must admit that the civil war was detrimental to ethnic relations, with scars etched deep in the minds of the people.
Simple, concise, fresh and clear

As I said earlier, your low life tribe has added terrorism to the already infamous yoruba toga which includes yahoo-yahoo, international credit card fraud, incessant political assasinations, international prostitution et ceterra.
Abeg metal-gong dont forget to add the igbo drug dealers in China, Europe and South Africa. You insult us Nigerians by not involving all our tribes. In the spirit of Federal character also include the igbo boys who scam on the internet and do credit card fraud.

Bull, as much I don't like the alai ni kan se moderator, this was taken out of context. Someone insulted Islam, and the moderator was showing that violence is not just unique to Islam but also Christianity.

See these propagandist. NL has been infiltrated by secessionist and treasonous bas.ta.rds

I hope you know treason is a crime with extreme punishments? Positing seditious positions is a crime against the state.

The so-called Nigerians are funny people indeed. It must be re-called that the same people who are clamoring for censorship on this forum would be same folks that will throw vitriolic and caustic responses when issue of Biafra is tabled.

Talk of indelible dirty hypocrites on this forum; they paddle the same deceitful characters that had colossally failed Nigeria. Is it not hilarious that one poster wrote about unity among the people of Nigeria when factors that mitigate unity are institutionalized in the country?

The hypocrites will inject the most ridiculous and mortally flawed analogies in order to spite on the socio-politico-cultural sanctity of a particular ethnic group. It is a daily occurrence on this forum that some of these hypocrites and closet fascists will ride a wave of mundane insults by refereeing to the contrarians as being Intolerance, Ignorance, and Inability to admit mistakes.

We must admit that Nigeria had war of attrition and the scars left by the war are still reverberating on the peoples’ consciousness. Unfortunately, the controlling powers did absolutely nothing to alleviate the pains of the war. Rather the federal government of Nigeria and the same hypocritical bunch had encourage programs such as abandon property, boundary adjustment, federal character, quota system and ceding of crude oil producing areas from one ethnic group to another. In solving the issue of Nigerian divided house, no option, including disintegration of the Nigeria, should be left out of the discussion.

Censorship of any magnitude flies in the face of democracy.
So much nebulous language. I cannot take this anymore. Why now wetin we do you? This guy must be of the older generation because his language is too thick and he misuses words to seem intelligent- don't worry I have encountered your kind before both online and in person and I have dealt with them accordingly.

Example:

refereeing referring to the contrarians (Not a word) as being Intolerance intolerant, Ignoranceignorant, and Inabilityunable to admit mistakes.
FUTO english

Seems you have also forgotten that the perceived hostility of the ibo was one of the reasons of the civil war. Keep going on, making us scared of your extremist views.

@Sefago your brain has been scrambled and you are not thinking straight - how can you talk about illiteracy when you have not even read your own history, just because a few saboteurs decided to sell their people into slavery does not mean that an entire race of people collaborated with white slave traders, thats just like saying that because some jews collaborated with the nazis and sent some of their people to auschwitz and dachau all jews worked in collaboration with the nazis, cant you see how ignorant that sounds. again you are buying into western propaganda, the west have been looking for a way to extricate themselves from blame and again being the self hating uncle toms that many of our people are we have given them a way out by completely exonerating them from one of the most disgusting and barbaric episodes in our history.
Are you talking to the great sefago like that? Do you really know anything about the slave trade or are u just typing? Western propaganda my butt.

The Africans were involved in slave trade and Europeans even had to beg our leaders to stop selling. An interesting example I use is madam tinubu and Oba Kosoko and adesoye. Read up on these people.S I cant give you anymore complex examples because you don't seem to know much about African history. But slave posts for selling their brothers were built across africa. Many kingdoms in Africa got a significant part of their income from selling slaves to Europeans. This is elementary/primary school knowledge- bros why now?
Politics › Re: Northwest Flight 253 Leg-bomber Is Son Of Dr.umaru Abdul Muttalab, by SEFAGO(m): 1:39am On Dec 28, 2009
well im quite happy to talk about slavery and islam as there is no way you can equate the degradation and dehumanisation of africans at the hands of the whites to the trafficking of black africans by arab slave traders.

i dont recall arabs herding africans into the holds of ships and throwing them into the atlantic ocean en route all in the name of trying to claim insurance payouts.
Kai I no see that one- illiteeracy don kill Nigeria. The subsaharan slave trade makes the transatlantic slave trade look humane.

^ what the hell are you saying- I hope you know that the biggest slave traders to Europeans were Africans themselves especially the Yorubas and the Igbos?

Like you know a significant number of african americans have igbo ancestry?

Anyways just skip this crap and go back to the topic.
