Actually Jay Bee you are kind of wrong from Becomrich's perspective. Countries differ- Apparently Becomrich is Canadian-Nigerian. So an Meng is a postgraduate degree like a masters degree in North America. Meng are actually more common in Canada and might refer to a masters program that is just based on coursework and no research or it could be vice-versa- a masters program totally focussed on research. In America its the same thing though its very uncommon and they just call it MS degree (The US does not add the "c"). So some Canadian engineering schools offer MSc and Meng Programs with one being more rigorous than the other (Coursework+Research) as opposed to just coursework. I think that is what Becomrich is trying to pass on to you guys I might be wrong but this is what I gathered from talking with people. |
Finally one of the Igbo boys came to him , noticing he was genuinely confused,Anytime I see this, I just cant stop laughing |
^ I dont think he said otherwise. He said: Look at africa universities been under rated.I have a feeling that i am one of the select few who understand becomrich |
@2good, Honestly I am ROFL because you are taking becomrich's comments as serious fun. The guy is having the time of his life typing right now at your expense of you being getting hot He has moved to medicine too ![]() |
Wow. That is harsh
This guy must be high on some good shyt. Community colleges where they teach you what you learned in SS2 in Nigeria ?? @fstranger Can you pass me the blunt? |
You never tell anyone what or where you are studying? GrinEasy Guess Harold and Kumar You never tell anyone what or where you are studying?Smart Guy, trust me |
You are very dumb! No, I am not dumb. Mensa doesnt give certificates to dumb people. Its UI, Unilag, then OAU. Trust me I know what I am saying. What are you studying again (what specialization in medicine) ?Do they study medicine at p'ton? |
OAU and Ilorin, are they state or federal institutions?Federal UI, Unilag and OAU are the best in that particular order. |
But honestly if you are not Yoruba then you must be igbo and vice versa to most Nigerias- dont you see some ignorant igbo posters on NL refering to PhysicsMHD as Yoruba? @beaf I am not a bigot. A bigot is someone who is prejudiced against people of other ethnic groups. I am aware of all the stereotypes associated with people but that does not make me a bigot. See the first time I met youy, you demonstrated your inability to read critically. Over two years now you ahve not improved . Safe to say you have stopped learning.I said Tinubu's statement was meant to spite Jonathan and had nothing to do with having a bigoted mind. Come on, dont tell me you dont find the drunken fisherman comment funny? Hypocritos ![]() Aneyowa meaning someone that defecates at home (not in the toilet o Grin)Isn't that funny haha . |
If something prevents the cause of A, then B could just cease to exist after something prevents the cause of A. The consequence doesn't have to be retroactive. That's my point. It could just experimentally be the reality that the consequence is only enacted after the event. It doesn't have to be, but the fact that it can be is enough to disprove the existence of time travel. An insurmountable paradox highlights the fact that something might not be possible. Ceasing B basically breaks a whole chain of events and destroys time, dont forget that B is linked to C and D and then F, so many events would cease just by one alteration. I smack you, you end up in the hospital, you cannot go to school for 1 week, my slap leaves a permanent mark on your face, people start calling you Big slap PhysicsMHD, as a result of the slap you become famous, then this helps you marry the most beautiful damsel in the world, then this beautiful damsel inspires you to build a time machine. Everything breaks up when you stop my slap. Everything including the time machine that you built that enabled you to travel back into time in the first place. Ok I now get what you mean by retroactive. But does that make sense too? So if at a point in time you existed once, and then you travelled back into time and killed your father. But before you travelled back into time, I had written a fascinating novel about you putting your name down with Ink and Paper. But then you travel back to time causes you to cease to exist, but my book and my experience having met you indicates you did exist. However materially it seems you do never existed at all. Yeah, but discreteness could just be the reality, as an experimental fact. In quantum theory (not experimental fact, of course), particles can change momentum discontinuously:Come on you should just have said Heisenberg uncertainty principle. We dey learn that one for any village secondary school in Naija. I do not see the link between quantum theory- very very small particles in the nano/femto scale, and real life experiences. I believe heisenberg has to do more with particles behaving like waves so have a diffuse volume, it would make sense to apply discontinuous events on such. Dont know much about wave theory though. Even then such discontinuous change might seem like "discontinuous" because the change occurs at a time scale that is too fast to measure, infact I think that is the true meaning of the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle- Edo boy be like say u want to play me wayo sha? I think you brother De Broglie also proposed that particles can also behave like waves. Anyways we are too large to behave like waves or for quantum theory to find effective application. Even then I am sure you know that classical physics would be a better way of describing our experiences than using quantum stuff. |
Not necessarily. It could just mean that you could break out of the "line" of time and connect back to a previous point in the line of time. Like if there were some way to find a "hole" to do so. The "main" line would still keep on going in one direction.then it would not be a universe neither would you really be the same person. You would be existing in two different lines or planes really. You cannot exist in tow different universes can you? How does that logically prove that you couldn't just perform these acts and become inbred person or a dead person immediately or soon after doing so or that you couldn't just perform these acts and then nothing would change? I don't see what you stated as necessarily having to be the case. Reality could just be different just as an experimental fact.If you perform these acts then you would never have existed in the first place. See why philosophy is difficult to grasp. Changing one even would have a causative event on your existence ![]() 1. Alterations to the past could end up not affecting the present (if every single moment in time were actually "discrete" and not physically connected with the past; or if after a certain amount of time events stopped being connected in time)Yes thats assuming a non-causative or discrete points in a time line. Basically you are claiming that time can be sliced into different discrete pieces or events. This is theoretically possible but we have to take experiential issues into consideration. Can you really claim that our lives are discrete and noncausative? If I slap you now so u no go feel am in the next second sebi? This brings in the question of causation- and then you would have to prove first that causation does not exist. Though you are correct that's a big hole in my argument but my assumption is valid because I dont believe in discrete and mutually exclusive timelines. These alterations could end up definitely affecting everything in the present, but not preventing seemingly paradoxical events from happening. If such paradoxical events do happen, there could just be some bad after-effect or physical anomaly as a consequence; it doesn't mean the event must not be capable of occurring. But if that effect annihilates the existence of the cause, then how did that effect come to be? A causes B with A being linked to a prior event. Something prevents the cause of A, so how can B exist at all? You have totally disregarded Causation and not attempted to disprove time causation which would take a lot of effort. But yes time travel could exist if time was divided into discrete pieces of events which are not causally linked. Our lives and experiences will fill like one badly chopped tomato ![]() I suspect that similar logical arguments to the ones you've constructed could have been used to argue against relativity. Not really, I think relativity and logic actually roll together. |
"Prop. I. Thought is an attribute of God, or God is a thinking thing.Honestly the fact that i dont understand it makes it even more rigorous ![]() |
How can philosophical logic indicate that it's impossible to travel back into time? Answer honestly please. Many, many ways. For one if time travel is possible then logic dictates that time is circular. Say for example I can travel back in time in the same universe dictated under the same plane of events. If we assume that I can travel into time, i could impregnate my own mother who will give birth to me. It follows I can impregnate my grandmother on the paternal side and my great-grandmother and then my great-great grandmother. But this is not even possible biologically, since such Inbreeding would definitely cause significant genetic defects. One can also argue that if I could travel back into time, I could kill my father just before my conception and then I would not exist. But then how will I be able to kill my father if I did not exist? That is a logical fallacy in time travel. Of course it can be argued that no matter what I do, if I travel back into time, it would be impossible for me to kill my father no matter how hard I try. But you get the point. Also the most rudimentary: Logic also dictates that if time travel was possible then people in the future would have travelled back into time to actually meet us |
I have always been interested in Spinoza's God.I am more impressed that you can use google ![]() I wont lie, the algorithm and derivatives used by the financial institutions in the U.S. are child's play. Most of the time, computers are doing most of the world, and the bankers still get money. The past Summer, I worked for an investment firm in D.C., and the money they were bringing in, was just amazing. Simply hedging bets. That is what Wall Street is, just simple gambling. However, that is the world I shall be entering soon.Stop clogging cyberspace with charts. If you are jealous of becomrich's position as the chief mapper then make your own thread and post investment charts. What firm did you work for by the way? I was surprised to hear it on a forum full of Mensa members and engineers.

Ok stop with the Mensa stuff I am beginning to feel like an i/d/i/ot already. And it was all a joke ok , I dont even know what Mensa is. |
fstranger3:Trust me Physics-MHD is prolly worse than me. Just mine is pure internet swagger in reality I no get mouth for real life oooh .Hmm interesting stuff here. Then why havent I heard about any successful Hausas?Well they are not successful in the true sense of the word. They just sit down and share oil money for abuja sha. I want some of that oil money too, its my birthright as a naija man .We go all chop the money for abuja sha one day go be my own day. I have no problem with numbers. While most people have a problem with numbers, I love them. Nothing is better than figuring out an equation. It is such. . . Well let me stop there. It give me euphoria. Especially when solving different algorithms.I pity you. Math is not algorithms, that's 5 year old math. What you guys use in the finance world that make you feel smart is elementary plug and chug mathematics. Real Math is proof and real analysis. Your average brain would get whooped badly. |
Mostly people studying hard sciences though, and to some extent Engineering courses, like Becomrichn does every now and then.LOL, this is so true though, and its not limited to Nigerians. Oyibo people and they are even worse and arrogant no be small. Some of them think they are Gods. But see me see trouble oo, I was just discussing my own jejely. Honestly right now, I am just making some rap beats, while discussing with some of my homies whats wrong with that? I have come to realize that and I am starting to have a growing dislike of those who choose that path.Eeyah, you should have let us know you wanted to join in the convo. How are Hausa the MOST powerful group in Nigeria?Fashi all these people on NL posting about most famous people from their state. They dont know what is happening in naija. I know the people who have the keys to the Nigerian treasury and they are not Yoruba Yoruba people for sure. You better be nice to alhaji Harem if u want a lamborghini sha. |
gadogado:Yeah, I like putnam. "Can we travel back into time?" is strictly a physics question, the guys who deal in that area are relativity guys. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel for more. Not really. Its also a philosophy question. If logic indicates that its impossible to travel back into time, even physical theories such as quantum tunneling or whatever physicists dream up as a way of passing the time barrier would not just be possible. Like science cannot defy logic. Period. Except there are of course multiple universes or multiple realities, I dont believe time travel is something that can be done anyways except maybe in short timescales. Metaphysics and epistemology, are they difficult in the sense that say, number theory or mathematical biology are difficult?Well depends on the individual. Number theory might not be hard to a hardcore mathematician. As for mathematical biology all theory and construction that does not work- what I refer to as "swagger pass swagger" ![]() |
You need to edit this. Am I to assume that speaking Yoruba makes one sounds . . . ?haha actually I changed what I wrote so it came out wrong for certain reasons. Dont worry did not mean what you think, love my language infact I am trying to learn how to speak igbo and hausa because its going to be important to communicate with my igbo and hausa wives . My ekiti wife is under lock and key anyways. TBH, I think Nigerians should be encouraged to take a language outside their native language. I remember taking hausa and it was pretty easy. Hmm . . . I might actually work on learning my hausa. Theya re the most powerful group in Nigeria anyways.Anywaz, back to philosophy et all. I might take the course. . . .for an elective, that is. Suggest a philosophical course you think might interest me.Philosophy of Oko ati Iyawo Or instead do something useful and take a class in kama sutra. I will be happy to do lab sessions with you. |
So how has philosophy developed you?Can spot poor arguments from a mile that's for sure. You're describing yourself o. Except the "civil" part.yeah, I am trying to cut it down a bit. Makes me sound like a Arrow and also seems to piss people off. If I sound s/t/u/pid on NL it would attract a lot of friends and less attention to me. So going to start typing in pidgin and yoruba as much as I can. I am pretty civil actually. I rarely insult anyone. Infact I deserve a civility award on NL. Well Logic is pretty much math without numbers, logic is certainly not easy, the easiest branches of philosophy are political and legal philosophy! but once you get into philosophy of mind/cognitive science, metaphysics, epistemology, even philosophy of language, you're going pretty deep. Little wonder why the study of philosophy has been the foundation of just about all of the worlds civilizations including the current western one!I agree. I love philosophy of the mind especially the fact that we might not exist at all or that there is no proof that who I am talking to now is not a figment of my imagination. Or that my brain could be in a box, and all of you are just illusions being perpetuated by an evil "Dr". |
Physics_MHD seems like a Nigerian ajepako to me. Not a bad thing, dont get wrong.LOL, definitely not, sounds like an americana, must be mixing up with fstranger , . fstranger is the resident ajepako on NL.Though he is also americana sometimes. TBH I am disappointed- most people here dont act like real Nigerians, they all speak prim and proper english, never speak pidgin and even are becoming more civil to each other. WTF? I doubt women of nowadays care anything for flowers. Unless the leaves are made from $100 dolar bills (winks). hmmm, "I love you" texts, why not "I love you" painted on Lamborghini?lmao, |
PhysicsMHD:Physicist (or as Yoruba say Faecesist ) you should know now:Metaphysics and Epistemology (Like can we travel back into time? or can I kill my own grandfather type of questions, Does God exist?). You should read Einsteins book about time travel its quite interesting. Ethics is interesting too, not difficult since it strongly is subjective no matter what one tries to argue about |
LOL! #1 Mensa has spoken! Grin I havent taken any philosophy classes . . . .neither am I going to waste my money on classes that does not entail my careerHehe dont you love the way I insert myself into everything. Most times I keep laughing anytime I read some of the stuff I type lol. But philosophy is honestly a good field. Ignore my narcissism for a bit. It does not always have to do with your career but your self-development. Yeah its good to make tons of money but sometimes its also great to learn and their is a lot of fun in learning. Ehrrm noooooo. "ah ahn", rara nau. Just speak Yoruba once in a while, is it so much to ask?I will try a bit. First of all, only village Yoruba woman would does any of that. , seems you are going to marry an oyibo man or american bred-nigerians like eku_bear, Physics_MHD or fstranger sha, see we FOB yoruba guys are not that romantic. What next you want me to buy you flowers and randomly text how much I love you and that you are always on my mind? |
LOl have you heard about that major tho? Economics pays as much as engineering majors. philosophy is the most difficult discipline in non pure sciences.I agree though that difficulty of philosophy is one of the most difficult disciplines, I took a lot of philosophy, and the logical thinking was quite intense. I loved it so much, because its something I was really good at but never would have known. Infact I would recommend anyone who wants to study law to take philosophy first, one of the most analytical disciplines and studying it with a science is very good because it refines your critical thinking skills. What you need in Nigeria is connections not school. Just no how to be humble and make friends around and you would do great. Also know how to speak yoruba, hausa, igbo, pidgin fluently because Nigerians love people who can speak their language and they feel closer to you and are more willing to help you. Just G-W-G blanket? Why not also get a G-W-G gold teeth or whatever they call those braces looking thing. What you want me to say Ahn-Ahn every minute ![]() Start acting like a Yoruba woman and greet your husband everyday with "Olowo ori mi" everyday. |
Sigh. You wish. "our" kids ko, "sour" kids ni.LOL, proudly Nigerian, I sleep with a green white green blanket Alice abi? mental slavery. What a d.umbass!Mugu its called humor. Learn not to take everything you read for face-value. Why the hell would be a proper bred iyan-eating eguisi-loving yoruba man name his daughter alice ![]() |
BTW, wazzup with Ekiti peeps and the names: Toyin, Funmilayo, Bunmi, etc? Hello, what happened to variety?Yeah right? I dont think we are naming our kids that though, I think I will go for english names- what about Alice or Caitlin? All these yoruba names are a mouthful for me sha |
Most American billionaires are college drop outs. Then drop out americana ![]() Turns out that she is an Ekiti womanSee why I chase Ileke-idi night and day? I think fstranger is worng though to assume that she would be unable to conduct any research just because she did not go through any american-styled MSTP. A lot of foreign doctors can do exactly what people who went through an MSTP do, all they need is exposure. I think she has been working in the US 20+ years as a doctor, even before fstranger was conceived. Would not be difficult for her to learn the basic sciences. |
Andre Uweh u are retarded. If someone asked a similar question to you what will you say? @otumfour Dont mind am, met lots of very fine ghanaian women ![]() So many fine women around, thats the only thing I am going to miss when I die |
