Please find Nigerians today who can compare to these past Nigerians - Sir Odumeghu Ojukwu, Sanusi Dantata, Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, S. L. Edu, Emmanuel Akwiwu, Odutola, Ade Tuyo. Don't mention individuals who derived their wealth from stolen funds and monopolies protected by successive governments.

Somehow I suspect that this doesn't have to much to do with it. This might affect foreign investment, but indigenous creativity should not necessarily be hampered by this.

Risk aversion and complacency - Caucasians usually take risks with their lives; when you can do that, take risks on your finances is not such a daunting task. This is one of the biggest factors and can usually be traced back to our forefathers who didn't really build empires. There is one Queen in England but there are over 300 kings in Nigeria. An ambitious king should have aggregated all the small and distinct kingdoms in Nigeria. Similar to what occurred in Europe. The desire to conquer or prevent being conquered led many European states to become creative and innovative. In Africa, our fore-fathers had so much time on their hands that they just had many kids.

I think a lot of what people post here are just plain excuses (and this includes myself). Foreigners (Lebanese, Indians, Chinese, Arabs) are HAVING A BALL right here in our land and we the natives are excusing our failures. Isn't it ironic that the Arabs, Lebanese, Chinese, Indians et al see the opportunities in our country thousands of miles away and trooping to Nigeria in droves to violation us while Nigerians cannot see the opportunities around them and are complaining and fleeing the country.

Will you stop making statements out of context - Are you aware of the startup or investors capital that was available to fb in it early days. Even the almighty google sought funding from various investors. In the Nigerian context investors dont exist and if you ever find one , his ROI would simply be unachievable.

Entrepreneurial spirt exists in Nigeria but i am sorry to say they never grow past the front of their house or the road side like the tyre repair guy or the woman selling pepper.

You're reaching.  The bolded is outrageous, and you don't really believe it.  If there is "nothing wrong" with homosexuality, why do most of the famous homosexuals in countries where it is decriminalized (unlike our own where we are too backward to know what is good for us) stay in the closet and swear up and down how much they love the babes?  Why is it that if you meet 3 lesbians in the USA, at least 2 of them had unresolved childhood sexual trauma?  Why is it that homosexuality up until recently was considered a psychological disorder by medical practioners in most of the "developed world"?
