Politics / Re: Interview With Nasir El-rufai by SegzyJoe(m): 12:34pm On Apr 14, 2009
I wish OBJ had done everything possible to make this guy the president after him. He's one of the few independent minded guys from up north. As much as there re so many independent minded leaders from the North, the ruling elites from the North have always succeeded in imposing weak leadership on Nigeria with a few exceptions. This is true if you considers the like of Balewa, Shagari and now Yar Adua. There is a pattern - weakness, yet we have the likes of El-Rufai, Ribadu, Balarabe Musa and others who are more independent minded from the controlled ruling oligarchy

@outlukbabe

However, from my own perspective, Soludo is Governor in the Era of prosperity. He could hardly use his intellects to for see problems and challenges.

So there was prosperity in Nigeria before Soludo take over as CBN Governor? Na wa for Nigerians o. why don't you look at the statistics. from a growth rates that oscilliate btw 2.5 and 3%, Soludo grew Nigeria's economy to the peak of 7.8% above the 7% MDG growth rate for developing countries. Now he's only good at managing prosperity. Maybe other CBN Govs of other affected economies elsewhere only knows how to manage prosperity and not recession.

1. the boy is overrated

2. He has this false sense of arrival

Generally, I think he can't manage stardom, if he has good adviser, they should inform him to be focus,, concentrate on his game and work hard. I watched his interview few days ago, and I know that he can't manage success, that is only thing I think is affecting his performance. with a few exception, most African footballer can't manage their career and success, that is why they don't last. Hardwork, discipline and focus are essential ingredients of managing a successful career, that is why the like of Ryan Giggs, Raul and a host of others are still playing today

It amazed me you keep referring us to the $16b figure as if you have evidence to support your claim. Even if your only means of getting fact is on the pages of newspapers, at least news papers sources gave us several conflicting figures like your own very $16b, $13B, $10b, $5.6b and finally official report put it at $3.01b
So why don't you use the other figures? or you just use the one that suit your purpose at every point in time?

Politics / Re: Pastor Adeboyes's Private Jet A Must Read by SegzyJoe(m): 4:36pm On Mar 27, 2009
@Jakumo

Apart from other sides attractions, you raised two major issues which I want to respond to here. First, with regards to Pastor Adeboye's declaration to the world audience on his prayer moving a car. My answer for you is in 1 corrinthian 2:14 the natural man can not understand the thing of the spirit because they re foolishness unto him, neither could he know them for they re spiritually discerned

Second, on the kind  of business that Pastor Adeboye's children are doing, well, I don't think you want me to go into that for obvious reasons. However what is a fact is that several millions of people have benefited from his ministry, people that have been elevated from ground zero to place of prominence all over the world, can you stop such people from freely given to somebody that has been a blessing to them? If people come from all over the world to attend Holy Ghost Service, and the Congress that millions of people attends every year, conservative estimate put attendance at Congress at 4.5 million. The truth is if the people are not being blessed they won't be coming in their millions. For instance, am a living example of God's blessing, and I tell you, I can give any amount as God give me the grace, because all the money in this life is not worth a single soul. The issue is if you re not recieving blessing of God, can you continue to give? No way, no matter the level of brainwashing.

In every nation God is opening doors of favour for RCCG, in Texas alone redeemed has 512 acres of land at a ridiculous give away price, even the owner testified that God told him to buy the land that when the people that will use it are ready, he will inform him. Can you imagine that? You can sit at your laptop and type anything you want, but the people that have seen and witnessed the manifestation of God's power cannot deny it. Except you want to deny that it is not God that is using Pastor Adeboye. It is very ridiculous, some say he's brainwashing people, if brainwashing is that simple, to gather millions of people at one single event and have over 10,000 parishes in several countries, then we should give him credit for that ingenuity over the years. A prophet is without honour but in his own house.

Do you have any idea what a church is meant to be

perhaps I should tell you if you don't seem to know. the church is a serious business and there is no room for unprofitable servant, if you know what it takes to run a quality university, you would not expect it to be charity.

Besides most church that owned Universities give scholarships to the church members. I have people in RCCG and Winners on scholarship in these unis being paid for by the church, so church unis are not charity, each penny is to be accounted for and managed properly. Again, no room for unprofitable servant inGod's kingdom.
Politics / Re: Obasanjo Pelted With Eggs, Tomatoes In London by SegzyJoe(m): 1:46pm On Mar 27, 2009
@PASTOR AIO & other Obj critics
Introduction
Nigeria is 49yrs old, military ruled Nigeria for over 30yrs, with the resultant endemic corruption, moral collapse, systemic and institutional failure, emergence of thiefing elites, apathy and resignation to fate from the masses, centralized command struture to conform to military tradition, religions crisis, ethnic rivalry, confoluting federation, status of a pariah state in the committee of nations, heavily indebted, wastages thru inefficient resource allocation, epileptic power, SAP condemned the masses to a life of misery and poverty, emergence of 419 stars, etc

Now, OBJ inherit all these, PASTOR, in your honest opinion do you think all these can be turn around in 8yrs?
Was Nigeria's situation as bad as this in 1979 when OBJ handed over power?

OBJ: Achievements

1. Debt cancellation (from$34b to $1.7b, after over 20yrs)

2. GSM (from 400 hundred thousand to close to 4omillion lines today)

3. Banking consolidation

4. Nigeria Stock Exchange was adjudged the Best performer in the world

5. Foreign Reserve to the tune of $64billion

6. The economic growth during obj oscilliated btw 6% to 7% growth based on NEEDS strategy

7. Leadership at ECOWAS and AU levels and the world at large

8. Establishment of EFCC and ICPC (for the first time public official convicted, boosted Nigeria's image)

9. Monitization policy (though opposed by some reduced wastages)

10. Efficient use of human resources (no regime in recent time have assembled Obj's kind of Economic team)

11. Was able ti quench the fire of Sharia that would have consume Nigeria

12. Was able to tame the military (re-professionalism of the Armed Forces is ongoing)

And many more can easily recollects here right now, above all OBJ is a de trabilized leader, the composition of his administration can attest to that.

Now: Obj attempted the followings

1. NIPP (It instructive that hardly has any regime try to do anything to the power situation since 1980, though the project is ongoing but even the present govt did not have a better alternative, admittedly the NIPP was sabotage by the vested interests)

2. Monitization (was designed to stop wastages but was faced with strong opposition)

OBJ : Failures

1. Rule of Law (perform abismally, military mentality)

2. Infrstructural decay (the states did not compliments his effort)

3. Self Importanceand arrogance (Ego problem is a minus in leadership, though may be vital to achieve in Niger

4. Leadership with credible successor (Failed woefully)

5. Widespread poverty (though care about efficient & prudent mgt, but not care how it affect the people)

Comments:
Nigeria is not easy to rule for many reasons, the complexities of etnic groups and religion sentiment makes it almost impossible for a Nigeria president to be acceptable by all groups no matter what he does. The truth is some section of the elites or the country we want him to fail since he's not from their area.

Secondly, his/her religion matter to some people, however ridiculous this might be,that is the reality of Nigeria

Thirdly, there is emergence of formidable theiving elites that can play on any of the two above to derail your government, hence they can force you to compromise which may pitch you against the people you swore to serve.

Again, geopolitical balances can also imposes compromise on the part of the leadership
What of us the people, are we faithful to ourselves? didn't some people justified Alams should not be jailed?
Where is our own will, why do we prefer a thieve to the saint, was Pat Utomi not among the presidential candidates, we will rather vote for Anini than Gani Fawehinmi. The quality of the followship has to do with the quality of the leadership.

Conclusion:
Nigeria needs a benevolent dictator to come out of the wood. It may look absurd, some European states were in a bigger mess than Nigeria, but Germany had Hitler, Russia had Lenin, Italy had Musoluni, England had Cronwall, France had Gaule, even CHina had mao just to mention a few. Today these society have stabilized, yet we want a better country based on some fanciful idea of democracy, was Hitler not a dictator, yet transformed Germany though ruined everything by the war. China was critized by the world for not democratize and human right records yet china is now threatening the West as economic power house. No time ,, I would have go on and on.

In development economics, the development and rule of law graphs are antithetical to each other, a complete departure from each other. For Nigeria to move forward, peoples rights, especially the privildge few would be intruded upon, unfortunately, they know in the rule of law lies their salvation, little wonder they convinced Yar Adua, and today they re walking free, because only the rich can afford the cost of justice.

Democracy is good but not until there is a corresponding institutional, attitudinal and cultural norms that serve as a superstructure upon which the foundation of demcracy can be built, however putting the superstructure in place is a great challenge, because of the forces that will leave no stone unturn to preserve the status-quo. A case in time is the Electoral Reform White paper, it is a conspiracy of the Elites, an incremental model of decision making, no radical deparrture from the status quo, that see president and state govs preserving their privilege positions, no change, after wasting money, we are back to status quo.

Than is why, in my opinion a political scientist, I think Obj tried giving the prevailing circumstances of Nigeria, if you re still doubting it wait till Yar Adua is through with Nigeria.

You really think that you re wiser than over 10million members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It's only a fool that speaks the way you have done, it is an abuse of free speech, I know if you believe God you won't insult His messenger like that, and if you don't I wonder why the life of Christian interest you so much. God or Christ is not synonymous with poverty, again, if a pastor has preaching engagements in 7 countries spread across 6 continents and he must come back home to preach at different meetings at home without failing in those appointment, you really think he doesn't need a jet? I quess you travel a lot to know what is involved in that kind of movement not only for him but also for his assistants.

For a church that has parishes in china, pakistan, Dubai, Afaghnistan, Iraq, Kuwait, Phillipines, India, Australia, Japan, Israel, and so many other Countries and Island not to talk of about 300 parishes in Europe and about 500 in North Amreica, excluding Africa. Do you think even Pope moves around as does the least General Overseer in Nigeria? Does Pope involve in preaching engagements as Adeboye? Does he stay awake 10 hours everyday to pray? Some of us that know Adeboye, that he eats less than 60 days in a whole year for as long as he has been the General Overseer of RCCG.

You re an example of the people the bible refered to as children of error, in whom there is no God, if you have the decency and the proper ubringing expected of a child from a good home, I doubt if you will ever call a man of God goat, it reflects the facts of your abnormal ubringing and a vacuum of parental tutelage.

It may suprised you to know that the money for that aircraft is not ffrom the offerings of members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, rather from a few sons and daughter of the GO, I can tell you authoritatively that some of Adeboye's children funds the Holy Ghost Congress annually to the tune not less than 4billion naira every year and that the offering of RCCG is never part of the fund they use for the monthly Holy Ghost Night or the Congress. There is a strict management of the offerings and tithes of RCCG in which the GO has no say in it because Redeemed Church is not his church, he joined like others, the people he met there are still there till today, neither does that make the aircraft his own when he lives.

Whatever Adeboye get for the church, even from his personal money, influence or whatever does not belong to him, if he decides to leave RCCG today, he won't take any of those things away, that is the rule in RCCG.
Come to think of it,is Adeboye a poor man? or is he not gainfully employed before he joined the CHurch? Next time you want to abuse your right to free speech don't say what you don't know anything about, because you sound like a fool.

They don't get married Simply because they are "BIG GIRLS", unfortunately marriage is not for big girls, but for two gentle souls bounded together in love, with teachable spirit to learn and grow together, submit and respect each other, determination and devotion to the marriage oath. It involves getting lost in each other and humulity to accept correction and apologize. Those are not big girls' virtues, if they have such virtues, they won't look so big in the first place.

You might as well start your crusade with your native Cameroonians rather than coming to a forum where over 80% are Nigerians. Why do you have to remove pegs from other peoples eyes and not from your own people? If you can not stop your brothers and sisters that went for Christian program in Nigeria and the people of your village and the entire Cameroon, why do you think you can spread your vanities here, or is there no social forum in Cameroon where you can spread your illusions? Miserable atheist like yourself cannot distort the scriptures or the Christain faith by just quoting bible out of context, the truth is the Word of God has survived greater onslaught from godless people like you, the Word of God has prospered over the ages even to the confusion of people like you. Religion / Re: The Sins (or Crimes) Of Jesus by SegzyJoe(m): 4:54pm On Mar 24, 2009
I think replying this guy is the only reason he keeps coming with different topics to insult the sensibility of Nigerian christians on this forum. Ordinarily, a civilize human being even though from Cameroon should know that speaking blasphemy against the faith of others is insulting their collective belief and psychic. if he thinks people should not serve God again, the best place to start that campaign should be his own country not Nigeria. If you re runing a campaign and speaking evil against the faith of a people on a website that millions of their future generations and religion adherent are present, then it is as good as ridiculing their faith and collective aspiration, it is even so bad when it is a fact that you re not even a Nigerian that share their collective views on religious issues.

If a Nigerian provides you opportunity to hear your views without subscription, that does not mean you should use the same forum to insult our collective intelligence, I read from one of your post how the spread of christianity in Nigeria disgusted you, as if that is not enough you have the audacity to be talking fallacies concerning the christian faith as if you re a kind of authority on the Christian faith and not a retarded evolutionalist. Words like these have been said else where concering Islamic faith and religious crisis was the outcome of such foolish utterances. Isn't religion a personal issue? If you don't believe Jesus, must you insult those that believe Him?
Religion / Re: Questions For Evolutionists And Atheists by SegzyJoe(m): 3:45pm On Mar 24, 2009
@huxley and other evolutionary morons,
Am not suprised at all the rantings here, you re only confirminng what the Scripture said the fool hath said in his heart there is no God, no matter how laughable that might sound, ofcourse the fool must have a reason for coming to that conclusion, that is why the likes of huxley, wirinet, bindex, nwankwo and other retarded brains will rather sticks to their vanity theories of evolution and other trash to make us think they re intelligent, not minding the fact that there is different between Truth and fact or better still theories. Theory is not truth and truth is not theory. In the their unintelligible mindset, they thought human existence can be explained simply by subjecting it to the purview of science and evolution, not minding the fact that humans interfaced between physical and the spirit.

They forgot that being a free moral agent, humans have capacity to choose what they want and the intelligence to adduce reasons for there choices, that is why the Bible said it is only a fool that can deny the exisitence of God when evrything that can be seen witnessed to the existence of God. These retarded brains forgot that inductive and deductive reasonings are two sides of the same coin, and science is not entirely free from human biases, it is just a matter of finding empirical evidence to confirm your intuitive judgment and assumptions. There is different between the Bible and the theory of Form, its only a fool that doesn't know the difference.

It amazed me that these intellectually retarded Africans think they can make any difference to the Christian Faith, Am glad to announce to you that many great and reputable thinkers have attempted to challenge the precision, efficacy and integrity of the word of God and failed woefully, even before your great grandfather was born. Backslider in the heart is full of his own ways.

It is either you people are not well informed about Nigeria or you re blinded by hatred or tribalism or both. most of you refused to access the man from objective point of view, and some of you even anchored your accessement of the man on frivolous allegations from the pages of newspaper, some of those allegations are being repudated now. It is a shame that educated people like Jakuma and co-travellers could not access a man objectively without being subjective. Sometimes I wonder if you people know the complexity of the entity called Nigeria. An objective examination of how we got to where we are now would have been instructive, but most of you are too lazy to find out. Little wonder most of the arguements could not be anchored on any credible evidence other than information from the pages of the newspaper. It's a pity, people should not allow their frustrations to intrude on their judgment.

whichever way you look at it, OBJ is the best president Nigeria has ever produced in term of achievements and results, even prudence management of resources. But for those Nairalanders who are blind with fury and hatred for Obj, I don't blame them, most younger generation of Nigeria needs mental emancipation, they need to be released from the shackles of mental shallowness and mediocrity - induced by ethnicity and tribalism. Obj tried his best for Nigeria. The frustration of my brothers and sisters in London is expected, since economic hardship at home accounted for why most of them are in London, hence anything that represents the subjugation of their collective aspiration and hope of a better life can provoke frustration and anger. It is not their fault anyway - it is a transfer aggression. But to be candid, Nigeria's problem cannot be solved in one day, but Obj tried his best, he tried to lay a good foundation (Reforms) for others to build on, unfortunately, we are back to square one.

Career / Re: Maths Or Economics: Which Is Better For Nigerian Job Market? by SegzyJoe(m): 8:55am On Mar 13, 2009
@poster
I disagree fundamentally with some of the above replies. First, studying for the job market will only earn you a meal ticket. Second, studying a course that you love and is compactible with your purpose in life make you a fulfilled person. You can study a course that will drive your passion to be what you want to become or a course that will get you a job but will take away your happiness. You need to look in-ward and see a course that is compactible with your passion and area of interest, it is then that you can find both the meal ticket and fulfillment in life.

By the way, there are some disciplines that are hot cake in the market today but will become liability in the nearest future. Technology changes the way we do things in this modern age, but when you study a course that is your area of interest, you will always find fulfillment in life.

Some people study some discipline for prestige reasons, a course that has nothing to do with their life and they end up being the second best in life. They may struggle but it will only make them second best. In view of this, if your area of interest in life is Geography or Sociology or whatever, please don't hesitate, follow your dreams. Studying for Nigeria market is particularly dangerous, because the evidence on ground did not support that theory again. Today, most bankers are Engineering based graduates, some banks sometimes conduct special recruitment for Management based graduates, because majority of the people that passed aptitude test are Engineering graduates, as such to have professionals grounded in the nitty gritty of the banking profession they recruits Econs, Acct, Finance graduate to supplement with special consideration.

The fact in Nigeria today is that there are graduates of Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, English and French languages in the banking industry today. By and large don't allow environment to affect you. look inward study a course you are confortable with, it is better to be a Nobel Laureate in Street Sweeping than to be a second best in Physics, the two can not stand on the same pedastal, coming first is first anywhere.
