I think God just love this guy.He has been close to death several time right from his days in the army, civil war, he escaped Abacha death trap in the prison by a breath of air and now. In my organization,, it is a standard rule to lock the car doors centrally before the car moves, even when am driving myself, i hardly leave my car doors unlocked. how much more Obj's driver and security details. Some guys should loose their jobs for this. It cannot be rationalized.
Religion / Re: Pastor William Kumuyi (Deeper Life) Remarries by SegzyJoe(m): 6:01pm On Oct 25, 2010
@ post Though I don't know if Pastor Kumuyi was formally confered the prof title but most people in the academic circle knows that academically and spiritually, the man is more than a prof. we are talking about a man that had first-class all through to PHD level in mathematics.

Pastor Adeboye too is mathematician with PHD in Applied Mathematics and Hydrodynamics.

This made me to remember a lecturer in my school who only had a masters degree in econometrics from US and he went to OAU for his PHD, on getting there all the book recommended for his class were his published books. The guy just walked away. What am trying to say is that, there are many PHD holders in Nigerian educational system who are very sound than many profs put together.

Usually i don't respond to thread from ignorant people like this but just want to find out if the allegation that Northerners are behind the bombing ws from Jonathan or Henry Okah. That is what you get when you don't have matured mind to separate fact from fiction. Most Nigerians are in this category. Jonathan said MEND was not behind the bombing that some bad elements are behind it, he never mentioned Northerners, for God sake, this man is seeking re-election and all he will do is to accuse the the whole North of such of conspiracy.

Again, for the sake of emphasy, it was Henry Okah that made the allegation that the president asked him to tell the world that the government wanted him to blame the North for the incident and not the president.

People should get their fact befor coming to Nairaland justbecause they have access to a free forum.

NOTE: Not all men will agree to my list because not all men know what it takes to make a happy home

a. They want a woman not a man
b. They want a simple lady not an all wise, all know type
c. They want a woman that humble and teachable (not the undendable type)
d. They want a lady that appreciate and respect their person, not the one that tear them down with her mouth
e. They want chaste, discipline, and intelligent lady
f. Though they can spoil and despoil other ladies yet they want a lady that is loyal and faithful
g. They want a lady that will not give up her honey well till marrriage (If he got you cheap, he knows other men will get you cheaper)
h. They want a presentable woman (So work on your looks)
i. They want

How to get the right life partner

1. Ask God for guidiance in prayer (God will not give you but will guide you nto his will for you)
2. Go to where your kind of men could be found
3. Know the diff. btw major issues, minor issues, and non-issues in relationship (don't look down on potential husband and be smiling away with a bad boy

SO OKAH IS NOW A CREDIBLE SOURCE? A COMMON CRIMINAL ARRESTED FOR BOMBING WHO KNOW HOW TO PLAY ON THE POLITICAL AND GEO_POLITICAL SENTIMENTS OF NIGERIAN POLITICS HAS SUDDENLY BECOME A CREDIBLE SOURCE THAT WE MUST BELIEVE. IF I WERE TO BE IN HENRY OKAH'S SHOE NOW, KNOWING FULLY WELL THAT UNLIKE NIGERIAN LAW THAT CAN BE EASILY MANIPULATED, SOUTH AFRICAN LAWS MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR HIM TO MANIPULATE, WHAT ELSE DO I DO THAN TO DESTROY THE CREDIBILITY MY ARRESTER IN THE EYES OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN PUBLIC.

HE SAID NIGERIA DETAINED HIM FOR MONTHS WITHOUT EVIDENCE, THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU DON'T ALLOW THE LAW TO TAKE ITS COURSE. HENRY OKAH THAT WAS ARRESTED BY THE ANGOLAN GOVERNMENT IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING ARMS WORTH $300M. HE WAS NOT EVEN ARRESTED BECOS HE WAS A NIGERIAN BUT because OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE ARMS DEAL THINKING IT WAS ONE OF THE ANGOLAN REBLE WHO WANT TO DISTABILIZE THEIR GOVT.

THIS IS SO SO FUNNY,  THE OTHER SIDE OF THE AMNESTY PROGRAM.

Can we just leave OBJ for once? why all these OBJ stuff? Are there no people behind these bombings? If GED did not do anything majority of you guys here will say he's clueless, now they following some clues and people started saying they don't know what they re doing. In a situation like this any clue is a lead to somewhere or nowhere. People should remember this is a national security issue and not a tea party, and as such fundamental human rights is secondary. Anybody can be arrested and question in this matter and if necessary detained for as long as necessary for the perpetrator to be napped. whether political enemy or friend , national security issue superceed every primordial sentiments.
Politics / Re: I Can’t Prostrate To Any Monarch Except Alaafin -afe Babalola by SegzyJoe(m): 3:09pm On Jul 23, 2010
@ post
I do not know much about Afe Babalola, but I know he is a man of letters. I also know that though most of us new generation do not accord much respect to tradition,, well it is not our fault we were brought up to be so. However, I think my fellow landers who re not from youruba land may not know the import of Babalola's arguement, because what he said ie rooted in youruba tradition.

By the way, many pple see Oni as being the foremost traitional rulers in yoruba land today because of a twist in history. As far as yruba is concern, Aalafin dynasty is the begining and the end of tradition (next to the gods- and possess the power of life and death). Ooni ascendancy was as a result of the disagreement btw the former Aalafin and the Action Group party of Awolowo, so Ooni dynasty was elevated politically to spite the Aalafin dynasty. In short, ooni dynasty has no place in yoruba history but thanks to forsight of the former Ooni (Adesoji Aderemi- who happened to be Awolowo's right hand man.).

Again, the position of Aare and Bashorun in Youruba land are next to Aalafin, while Bashorun heads the powerful kingmaker, Aare is the chief of defence staff for the Old Oyo Empire- the strength of the entire empire. that is why even Ooni opposed Aalafin when MKO was to be made Aare, but non could stop him (Aalafin) because he alone could confer that title in yoruba land.

That is one reason why Ooni worked against June 12 of election of MKO. Again,in yoruba history, every king bow before Aare except the Aalafin and the Oyo Messi (King Makers)

So I could understand my non-yoruba friends not knowing where the man was coming from. Anybody who cares to check up yoruba history will know that, it is only Aalafin that can give title across yorubaland and he actually crowned all the yoruba kings. Ooni is not a crowned king, infact he is not regarded as king, but a traditional ruler, but Ooni dynasty gain prestige by its location in Ife - the cradle of Yoruba race
Religion / Re: Is Rccg And Pastor Adeboye Obliged To Return Akingbola Looted Offering? by SegzyJoe(m): 9:18am On Jul 22, 2010
@dayokanu
I used to think you re an intelligent and informed person, but sometimes, some of your posts are nothing but  shallow and ridiculous. It is one thing to have a disregard for the church institution and those that represent it, but it is a different thing to allow your shallowness to intrude on issue beyond your grasp.

Firstly, do you have any evidence to show those guys gave money to the church? Secondly, Has it been proved by a law court that Akingbola money is gotten through corrupt means or you re just relying the court of public opinion dictated by the media?  Does the church or any institution in the world has an established system or device of detecting which money is goten through fraudulent means? what of the money these people must have been given to other charity organisations like orphanage, must they return all those one too? Or is it just becos of  your disregard or hatred for the church that is blinding your sense of reasoning?

Now, if the premise which you based your arguements on are proved wrong by the law court, would you apologise to the persons of Adeboye and the likes whom your post has wrongly instigated others like you to hurl insult at them? If you claim to know anything about God, you should ve know that men of God however their imperfection are representing God.

Must you always bring the church or God at par with the corrupt system in Nigeria to feel good about yourself?

Politics / Re: Obj Is Bad Yes, But He's Still Nigeria's Best Ever President. No Contest by SegzyJoe(m): 7:05pm On May 24, 2010
@ Ibime
Though I rarely agreed with your views on many topics on this forum, but I must confess that you were right when you said that in 1999, Nigerians were not looking for a president to fix our many dilapidated infrastructures. Most Nigerians on this form may not remeber Nigeria's situation in 1999, or they may ve forgotten, how time flies? I could remeber that the consensus that made Nigeria to produced two presidential candidates from south-West despite the fact that an Igbo man won the ANPP ticket, yet the man stepped down to allow the major political parties that have prospect of winning the presidential election to allow two Yoruba men to contest, so that either way, a Yoruba will emerge the president. Then disintegration, parting of ways were the common languages among most Nigerians. Not only that, Nigeira image was so much battered that we became a pariah state. But today, nobody is talking about that again or atleast such discussion has been relegated to the background.

Well, I can go on and on, but I must say that Obj did his best, infact he did so many thing that many uninformed commentators on Nigerians politics may not understand. It is much more eaier to criticize, but the rot and decay in Nigeria's system is monumental, there is need for a sustained efforts from successive leaders, the problem did not arrived in one day, so people should not expect a miracle overnight, if not , why is it that all the goosd intention of Yar Adua has not provided us electricity? The rot is very deep. it take sustained efforts by succesive leaders to overcome.

I really thank you all for your comments, I have no doubt that despite our different views about the situation in Nigeria, quite a number of nairalanders have been inspiring in their writings, bringing out the best in all of us and putting the issues about Nigeria in proper perspective.

However, i believe we can take advantage of this information highway and transform it into a positive force - a catalyst for action.We have nairalanders in every city in Nigeria, this forum can be used to galvanize support for action to bring desired change to our country. Issues that affects the society economically, socially and politically could be indentified in our cities,we can create awareness, advocate and demand accountability from our leaders.

We have talked long enough, it is time for action, it is time to make our vote count, to campaign against corruption, to demand integrity in service and to advocate for change. The only thing good men do for evil to triumph is to do nothing (paraphrased). The alternative to taking action is to continue our talking on this forum, then we have no right to expect any positive change from those that are holding us to ransome.

It is possible to take individual and collective action against the evil being perpetrated by the political elites against the Nigerian state. If we truly desire change for this country, the time to act is now.Thanks
Politics / Am Back To Nairaland by SegzyJoe(m): 7:41am On Mar 12, 2010
Hello all,
Am glad to be back on this forum. About six month ago, i left the forum because i felt the forum was not being put into good use, instead of using it to serve as an avenue for constructive engagement for every Nigerian to bring our country out of the wood, but what we see here everyday to say the least is not encouraging about Nigeria and Nigerians. Ethnicity, pessimistic view about Nigeria etc. Well, I also felt i was part of the problem, so i decided to leave and come about after six month to see if i will see the forum differently, but unfornuately, it is as i left it.

This forum has the largest concentration of Nigerians at home and in diaspora, and I think we should make it a force for good, to mobilize for good governance, corruption free society, especially to mobilize for action, we should move forward from mere talking and do something for the counry we all care about irrespective of our ethnic background and orientaions. The time to put NAIRALAND into good purpose is now. God bless NIGERIA.

Politics / Re: The Fake People Of South West Exposed Again by SegzyJoe(m): 12:18pm On Aug 05, 2009
@Ijawman
this kind of post aimed at a particular people is highly degrading, not to the southwest people perse but to the minimum level of intellectual sanity expected of anyone that claimed to be educated. It is typically education without character, the story of the impostor "lawyer witness" in AC's case reflects the sympton of a sick society which is now at home with us in Nigeria, however, it beat my imagination to see Ijawman descending to this level of insanity. Your hatred for southwest people must have impaired your sense of judgment and responsibility, it actually put a question mark on your character.

If 90% of certificates in southwest are fake, it then follows that all the Universities in the southwest are also fake, in short you demonstrate a reasoning capacity that is far less than that of a beast.

Politics / Re: Haul Nigeria Before The International Court Of Justice ICJ by SegzyJoe(m): 10:22am On Aug 03, 2009
@poster
dream on, why was United States not reported to ICJ or is Guatamala detention camp a hidden secret? For your information, going to ICJ is voluntary, and it has no instrument for enforcement, if you comply with ICJ ruling, you only do that in good faith.

Again, Boko Haram is a security threat to Nigeria, am sure you don't want a prolong court process that will triggered up another killing and kidnapping spree requesting for his release and the country will be held to ransome again? For your information, anybody can be killed on the alter of national security and your fundamental human rights can be stripped once it is an issue of state security.

I think the government should introduce a course on "Social Contract" in General Studies Division in our higher institution, becuase it seemed to me that most Nigerians don't know there is limitation to the Rule of Law or Fundamental Human Rights.

It often borders me how some members of civil society groups in western world open the mouth to tell us how to run our country, as if worst crimes are not been perpetrated thru covert operation by their own security and intelligent agencies.

In short, I disagree with the poster, by popular opinion justice may not have been served, but it served Nigeria well that he was dead. Nigeria cannot afford another long process handling such a sensitive religious issue, with crisis in the Niger Delta, no one need further evidence of a failed state

Politics / Re: OPC Vows To Destroy Every Mend Member In Nigeria - This Is About Time. by SegzyJoe(m): 1:20pm On Jul 23, 2009
@Epiphany
If I understand what you re trying to say correctly, do you mean Yoruba can not fight like agbero on the street of Lagos or you mean they cannot fight for what they believe in? It is quite obvious that whether you re fighting for daily bread like Agbero on the sttreet or you fight for principle and emancipation for your people, fighting is still fighting which ever way you look at it. But the way and method of fighting differentiate advance and primitive society from one another.

By referring to Yoruba as coward and not being able to fight, am sure you mean fighting on the street like Agbero and area boys or has there been any war where you see the Yoruba running away from battle field in the course of your sojourney in the southwest? Even then, if we go by your definition, how many of those Area boys and Agbero have you beaten to coma, so much that you come on this forum to boast of your deep understanding of Yoruba cowardice.

Yeah, talking about fighting, where were you while Yoruba were fighting for re-validation of June 12 election crisis? From 1993 to 1999, where were you when they face the rampaging bullets of the Army on the street of Lagos? Did you witness dead bodies on the street of Lagos that died from either Military or Mobile forces deployed from the Noth to quench the crisis? Am sure you re aware when dead body littered the Street that Abacha ordered his soldiers to kill and carry their the dead bodies. To people like you,that may sound like cowardice, and to other Biafrians , galantry to them consist in fighting a lost battle and blaming everyone else for the failure except themselves.

It never ceases to amaze me that as accommodative  and tolerance as Yoruba people are to every other tribes in Nigeria, other tribes always misinterprete this guesture to mean weakness.There is different in fighting a lost battle based on ego and self glorification and fighting strategically in principle and what you believe in, it is not just fighting for fighting sake

Nigerian with holier than thou attitudes, are we sayiing what is obtainable in one part of Naija is strange to other section of the country? why is this forum full of people that always look for opportunity to bash any tribes with the slightest anything?

My candid opinion is that this forum is becoming an Igbo activists forum and it is quite unfortunate, something must be done about it. The forum should serve the common good of this country. Since we have millions of Nigerians on this forum it should be an opportunity to promote the common good of our dear nation, not to ridicule us in the eyes of the world.

Politics / Re: Reps Kill Motion To Immortalise M. K. O. Abiola by SegzyJoe(m): 10:01am On Jul 23, 2009
Tribalism is one of the greatest challenge this country must overcome if it would move forward. If MKO Abiola did not deserve a mention in our history then who does? Is it the current set of looters that deserve it or what?

Now since the death of Abiola, have we had any better election ever since? Have we as a nation voted for any candidate overwhelmingly across ethnic divides as we did during June 12? If not why? Does that means there is no correlation between the personality of MKO and the voting pattern of June 12, 1993 election that disregard ethnic sentiments? If there is none, why haven't we voted like we did in June 12 since the last 10 years of democracy?

In political behaviours, it is taking for granted that there is a correlation between popularity and voting pattern in any election, so why do people say MKO is not the issue in June 12, 1993 election, if the the then military government had been a sincere one, won't MKO be announced as the winner? Won't he be the main issue of that election?

What the honourable House did was a deservice to the Nigerian people, they have just reminded us that we do not have the capacity to vote across enthinic divides, that we can not by sheer determination usher in a new dawn of democratic governance in Nigeria, that we can not effect positive change except through their time proven election rigging machiner. If as a people we can not rise above sentiment to vote our leader irrespective of his/her ethnic background, in effect, we legitimising a process of perpectual election rigging that we continue to insult our collective aspiration.

By giving MKO a mention in our history, we are reminding ourselves that we can rise above primordial sentiments to bring about change in our society, it is not about Abiola per se, it is about the fact that we can do it. Without that mindset gradually we will all give up on Nigeria. The uniqueness of Obama election is the fact the American people believe that they can effect positive change, they gave it a trial and it has become history today. If Obama funbled they know they can always do it again. But our Hon. Reps want us to forget that history in a haste, that we cannot do it, we cannot usher in a new Nigeria, that is why if the of Soludos, Ribadus of this world contest for presidential election in Nigeria, the Iboris of this world will beat them to it anytime anyday.

This has nothing to do with Abiola, if we celebrates June 12, we energise ourselves that we can always do it again. The great problem of Nigeria is the elites, for them to contineu in their primitive wealth accumulation, the various ethnic groups must be pitched against one another, the day we unite as a people, we can check the looting of our collective wealth.

MEND is signing its own death warrant. They should learn from Tamil Tiger in Sri Lanka. They forgot Lagos is a centre where national opinion is formed. They are depleting their most important asset "Reserve Fund of Goodwill" The Tamil Tiger orchestrated the assassination of Ghandi and depleted the popular support from the India populace, they were isolated and it was just a matter of time. This is the first lesson in Freedom/Revolutionary or Guerrilla warfare.
