She's actually well spoken. If only she wasn't so crazy and didn't I'll have preferred an interview that was conducted after the release of her singles though #POKO ![]() |
nitlad: Coincedentally, British English is the standard bearer. So 'COINCIDENTALLY ![]() caukerzee: It also pisses me off when people use 'am' in place of 'i'm'. An old rivalry will be rekindled when the Super Falcons of Nigeria confront their Camerounian counterparts, the Indomitable Lionesses tomorrow in their first match of the ongoing 2012 African Women Championship in Equatorial Guinea. Nigeria and Cameroun by virtue of being semi-finalists in the 2010 edition of the competition were drawn by in the preliminary round and only saw action in the final round of the Qualifiers. The Lionesses accounted for Ghana's absence in this competition with a 9-8 aggregate win on penalty after both legs finished 1-1 apiece while Nigeria defeated Zimbabwe 6-0 on aggregate to qualify for the competition. At the last AWC, Nigeria and Cameroun met in the semi-final with the Super Falcons inflicting a humiliating 5-1 defeat on the Camerounian ladies but some months later, the Indomitable Lionesses defeated the Nigerian gals 2-1 in Yaounde for a 3-3 aggregate and then went on to prevail via penalties to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics. Hence, the setting in Bata on Monday, when Nigeria takes on Cameroun will bear a semblance of a revenge mission as the Nigerian team will seek to avenge their ouster from the Summer Olympics while the Camerounians will want to defeat the Nigerians again to prove their superiority and that the victory in the Olympic Qualifier was not a fluke. The Super Falcons are without Desire Oparanozie, Osinachi Ohale and Faith Ikidi in this tournament but the Camerounians tormentor-in-chief when they met in the 2010 AWC, Perpetua Nkwocha, is still very much around and she's set a lofty 15-goals target for herself in this competition and will want to open her goal-scoring account tomorrow while the Lionesses' team remains largely unchanged from the team that featured in the 2010 AWC and the 2012 Olympics. Apart from the historical rivalry and bragging rights, the stakes in this match has also being heightened by the Bakassi issue. Also, this match is important for both teams as a win tomorrow is 50% guaranty of a spot in the semi-finals as the other group opponents, Ethiopia and Ivory Coast don't have female football pedigree. The Super Falcons play more of "flair" football depending on nimble footwork, skill, speed and the individual ability of players like Glory Iroka, Ngozi Okobi, Esther Sunday, Stella Mbachu, Ebere Ngozi, Perpetua Nkwocha, Helen Ukaonu etc while their opponents play more as a team and rely less on individual flair. Like their male counterparts, the lionesses are very physical, brawny, tenacious and workaholic, full of running and have a "never say die" spirit. Nigeria and Cameroun are no strangers to themselves at this level and have in fact played themselves many times with either sides recording wins and losses so history may not count for much as both teams square up tomorrow. Kick-off is 2.30PM Nigerian time (3.30PM South African time) and it'd be on SuperSport 3. So what's your prediction? Drop your comments/opinions or just wish the Super Falcons Goodluck |

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has introduced sniffer dogs and anti-terrorism squads in order to beef up safety and security at the international airports in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt. Yakubu Dati, the General Manager, Corporate Communications, in a statement on Thursday, said the development was in line with the transformation agenda of the Federal Government, adding that the measure would later be extended to other airports in the country. “A comprehensive audit of security and surveillance has been conducted on aircraft, terminals and security personnel, to align them to standards in the industry," the statement read. “The airport security personnel have been trained in crowd control, body search and other specialised areas, while undercover surveillance is conducted by plain clothes crack team.” Dati revealed that all the country's airports had security equipment, including hand-held metal detectors, closed circuit television cameras, x-ray screening machines and 3D scanning machines, adding that these were in addition to a 24-hour security patrol on the airside by the aviation security personnel as well as the presence of Police Bomb Disposal Units in the terminals. “The leadership team of the authority, therefore, wishes to reassure all airport users, especially passengers, that Nigerian airports are safe and secure to travel through and that with the completion of the first phase of the airport remodelling project, service delivery at our airports can only get better,” the statement read. http://dailytimes.com.ng/article/faan-introduces-sniffer-dogs-and-anti-terrorism-squads |
President Goodluck Jonathan says the federal government has put arrangements in place to fly the governor of Taraba state Alhaji Danbaba Suntai abroad for treatment if it becomes necessary. Doctor Jonathan was speaking to Muslim faithful who came to pay him the Sallah homage in the Presidential Villa. He said that the governor is stable and that he will first be brought to the National Hospital in Abuja for treatment before any other action will be taken. The Governor escaped death on Thursday after a plane he was flying crashed in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. The governor, his aide-de-camp and chief security officer, who were also in the plane that took off from Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, and three others, were seriously injured. Mr Suntai, who graduated as a pilot from the Aviation College in Zaria last year, was piloting the crashed plane. This would be the second time he is surviving a plane crash The plane, a Cessna 208, 5N-BMJ, owned by the state government, crashed at about 7.45 pm, near the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Depot, on the outskirts of Yola. The governor, who was brought in unconscious, was first taken to Yola Specialist Hospital for treatment, but was later, moved to the better-equipped Federal Medical Centre, Yola. A statement from the Ministry of Aviation said the aircraft had six persons, including the crew on board when it crashed. It said the aircraft departed Jalingo for Yola and reported contact with the Yola control tower, but shortly before it landed, the pilot lost contact with the control tower, while efforts to radio the aircraft failed. http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/10/26/fg-may-fly-suntai-abroad-for-treatment/ |
