Sports › AWC 2012 Semi-Final: Nigeria Vs South Africa (0 - 1) On Wed November-7-2012 by semid4lyfe(mod):
Nigeria and South Africa face off today in the semifinals of the 8th CAF African Women Football Championship, to be played at the Nkoantoma Stadium in Bata, Equatorial Guinea.

The last time both teams clashed at the AWC was in the final of the 2010 game hosted by South Africa. Nigeria won the encounter to claim their sixth title. Both teams met twice this year in international friendly matches, which ended 1-all in Rustenburg and goal-less in Lagos.

At this year’s tournament, the South Africans finished second on the Group A log, recording wins against Senegal (1-0) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (4-1) and went down (1-0) to the hosts, Equatorial Guinea in the opening fixture.

Nigeria on the other hand beat Cameroun 2-1, Ethiopia 3-0 and Cote d'Ivoire 3-1 to claim top spot in Group B with 9 points.

THE WORDS
“The Banyana Banyana players are so keen to get the win over Nigeria and give South African football fans lots to be proud of as the win will allow our team to make the final, which is one step further than what we achieved at the CAF African Women Championship 2010 held in Ekurhuleni, near Johannesburg,” - Banyana Banyana head coach, Joseph Mkhonza

The Nigerians fielded their full strength team during the international friendly matches against SA and Banyana Banyana can break the mental block to record their first-ever win over the Super Falcons - Banyana Banyana midfielder, Portia Modise

"I'm confident going into the semis against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa. Everyone in the team is mentally prepared for the challenge and ready to give their best aimed at retaining the title. There is no cause for worry, we know ourselves very well, we'll always handle them though we envisage a tough battle. They're a good side no doubt about it but they won't stop us from hitting the final and winning back the title," said the Rivers Angels' finisher - Super Falcons Midfielder, Stella Mbachu

"The match against South Africa will be another tough game but I think we have a good chance against them - Super Falcons Coach, Kadiri Ikhana
Kick off is 5.30pm Nigerian time and it'd be on SuperSport. So who wins?. . . .drop your comment and prediction

ogugua88: I was listening to Sean Hannity on my way home from school, where he was discussing the election with fellow "genius" Karl Rove. I nearly died laughing. One would not believe those wackos were following this very election. They were so calm and Rove bet that Romney would escape as the victor. He went as far as saying that Romney would win Florida, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, New Hampshire, AND Colorado. So laughable. If Romney wins all of those, then I will move to Kaduna. Also, they're really hoping that the storm affects tomorrow's outcome in the northeast, as that is democratic territory. Smh in disgust.
Laugh all you want but Karl Rove is a proven political consultant & strategist.

He got Bush elected in 2000 and re-elected in 2004, not to mention the 1994 and 1998 Texas gubernatorial victories he engineered.

YES, Obama might come out on top but I wouldn't be too haughty if I were you AND lest we forget the "Bradley effect" is not dead so I'll take the opinion polls with a pinch of salt.

Odemwingie restates Nigeria commitment
Osaze Odemwingie says he remains available to play for the Super Eagles if selected
Posted: 5 November 2012 Time: 06:54 am

Osaze Odemwingie says he remains available to play for the Super Eagles if selected by Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi.

"If the coach decides to call me, I am still available to play for my country. When I decide that I want to stop playing, I will come out and say so myself," Odemwingie told KickOffNigeria.com.

Over the weekend, Keshi was quoted as saying the West Brom forward had ruled himself out of playing for the Super Eagles following incidents dating back to the 2010 World Cup.

“I spoke to (Odemwingie) before the Liberia game and he told me that he had decided not to play for Nigeria anymore,” Keshi told SuperSport.com.

“He told me that he has no problems with me as a person and that he took his decision even before I assumed position as national team coach.

“He said he was unhappy at how he was treated in the past in the national team. He explained that prior to Nigeria’s participation at the 2010 Fifa World Cup, he played in all the qualifying games but was dropped at the finals,” said Keshi.

But Odemiwngie on Monday clarified the situation.

"I spoke with Keshi and I told him about my unhappiness with certain things in the national team, including the fact that as a player who has served his country with full commitment for over 10 years, I got into trouble for asking to be excused from a friendly game when I had an injury.

"And I pointed out to him that it appeared the same trend was continuing under him during the game in Rwanda because of the way I was treated.

"So since I didn't want to be seen to be destabilizing the national team, I decided to stay away.

"But he explained to me that the entire team played badly and if he had his way, he would have subbed out everyone. That it was nothing personal.

"We agreed that it was a communication issue and we would continue to talk, and that was it.

"I did not say I won't play for the national team. I am 31 now, it will be hard to play every game, but I had an open and honest discussion with the coach and I will be available when they call me."

Won't say I blame him as he's probably talking from experience.

Maybe he put his baby mamas on the pill and it didn't work. smiley

By the way, it does have some side effects like drowsiness, nausea, headache, acne & pimples, tenderness in the breast, abdominal pain, delayed menses etc and long term use is a risk factor to cervical cancer.

So anyway, you wan look am 2face is right. A CD is better but abstinence is the best.

The guy is just a pretty face to me and I don't really dig his acting.

I feel he's too porsche and his range is limited. He nor fit act pass fine boy/playa/cassanova for movie.

Also, he strives to pronounce words precisely & speak with good diction and ends up sounding too rehearsed and forced. He also over-acts.

He's just okay IMO. Give me OC Ukeje any day, any time smiley

Jarus: So Falcons have lost/drawn 7 matches in AWC? I'm disappointed. Thot we've only lost 1 game, to Equitorial Guinea.
kpencheruwe: falcons lost only one awc game against e/ guinea.
Not true. The Super Falcons have lost a total of 6 games to African opposition but only twice in the AWC; 0-1 to Ghana in the 2002 AWC and 0-1 to Equatorial Guinea in AWC 2008.

The other losses were in Olympic Qualifier and the All African Games Qualifiers

Highbros: Though the song is wacky but I will still advice you go with music because this is Nigeria - you can't predict any song that will make it. You might be the next big thing. Who knows!?.
The song is by no means wack.

The beat is a fast up-tempo beat, the rhyming lyrics though generic ain't bad and the chorus is very catchy and "sing-alongable".

I mean, this is the success formula of today's Naija urban street jamz. It kinda reminds me of Chuddy K's "gaga crazy" with it's repetitive sequence.

OP, this song has the potential to be a HIT. You've got something here. Push it as much as you can. . you know the works nah wink
Ali Baba, thanks.

I find Julius Agwu rather annoying.
God bless you.

Comedy has gone beyond acting funny like Frank Spencer of Some Mothers Do Have 'em.

Modern comedy is about people telling a story with a funny punchline. This seems to be lost on Julius Agwu

anyway this situation no longer concerns me as this book is based on Igbo history. If the Igbos are fine with this rubbish, that is their business. cheesy
I read the book after all the film adaptation hullabaloo and personally, I think the book is over-rated.

I'm not eagerly looking forward to the movie, it's just another movie I'll download and watch when the DvDrip or BRRip is available online cheesy

all4naija: I can bet you didn't hug transformer that is the reason why you are still alive - pointing to your signature grin grin grin.

It might seemed irrelevant to this topic but being sincere with one's argument has a long way to go in this hunt for acting skills in Nigeria for leading roles which aren't there in the first case.

I would buy you a drink any day if you can present me with a single person in Nigeria who can come up with or perform a leading role in a standard American or international movie. Please, let the truth be told. We need to go back to the drawing board and start building schools which care for movies, theater dramas, etc. Not until then we are not going to produce any international leading role actors in the future.

When is the premier of the movie though?
Lol @ the hug transformer part. Again, I'm not holding brief for the Nollywood actors/actresses. I'm sure the director could have gotten a US/UK based Nigerian of **preferably** Igbo descent who had studied acting in the US/UK for the lead female role if he had wanted to.

Refer to that thread of Hollywood Actors/Actresses of Nigerian descent.

I heard the movie is due for release 2013.

Oya, make una die the matter tongue
