He need fighters in Eagles and he wants to retain players like Yobo who sit on the ground for a full minute without any hindrance or injury during a very important game? . . . in reference to the 2nd goal scored by Greece in the Nigeria vs Greece match at SA 2010. Since Yobo loves sitting, he should be made to SIT permanently, that is, on the BENCH! Siasia gats start by re-watching/reviewing the tapes of all our matches at the world cup and axe some players immediately cos they aren't worth wearing the green-white-green. Players like Rabiu Afolabi come to mind Good thing he's looking to convince the likes of Victor Moses, Kelvin Etuhu, Sidney Sam, Leon Balogun, Chucks Aneke, Angelo Ogbonna, Nedum Onuoha etc who have ''dual eligibility'' to play for Nigeria. Hope he succeeds in this. . . He shouldn't forget players like Victor Anichebe, Joel Obi, Obiorah Nwankwo, Emmanuel Emmenike, Kim Ojo, Ideye Brown, Fengor Ogude and the home-based players too. |

To say I'm IMPRESSED will be an understatement ![]() |
Mariory:Football followed by cricket are the most popular sports in Qatar and have the biggest following. . .I'm sure the average Qatari knows more about football than the average American. The FACT is most ordinary Americans don't give a hoot about football. I visited some American blogs and forums after the announcement of the bid winners and the impression I got was that apart from the hurt to their National pride on losing to a small nation Qatar, most Americans were unconcerned. Comments like: ''Who cares about soccer. . . .it's a dumb sports anyway. They've been trying to force it down our throat for years but we ain't swallowing it'' were not uncommon. |

Hmmm. . . I'm stuck on Bitdefender products and I've been using their Internet Security for the past 3 years. I just upgraded from Bitdefender Internet Security 2010 to the new Bitdefender Internet Security 2011.

The illorin Township stadium is presently undergoing renovation so Kwara United and Bukola Babes are both using the Offa Township stadium. As a fallout of these past weekend match between Kwara United and Heartland, the NFL has given both clubs 72hrs (on or before 10am on Wednesday 8th December) to find an alternative venue for their home matches or have the NFL choose a suitable venue for them. http://supersport.com/football/nigeria/news/101206/Kwara_Unitedto_seek_new_home |

Mariory:What exactly do you mean by "footballing nation"? The USA and Australia may have participated in previous world cups and may have posted some good performances but they can't exactly be classified as "footballing nations" IMO. Hell, soccer (as they call it) is not even amongst the top 5 sports in America. . .they have the NFL, Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey and some other dumb sports well ahead of it. I watched and listened to Bill Clinton, Landon Donovan and Morgan Freeman talk about the USA's reason/need for the world cup and their central message "was to grow/popularise the game/ in America and attract new/more fans" despite hosting the world cup in '94, the women's version in '91, '99 & 2003 and having many star football players like Juan Pablo Angel, Jurgen Klinsman, David Beckham, Thierry Henry etc grace their MLS league in the past few years AND YET SOCCER IS STILL SEEN AS AN INSIGNIFICANT SPORT? The same thing can be said for Australia too. Hockey, Cricket & Rugby all have a higher following than football unlike Qatar which is football crazy and has football as its #1 sports. Qatar has participated previously in FIFA U-17 (6 times) and U-20 (2nd in 1981) competitions or doesn't this count too? Qatar hosted the 2007 Asian games (comprising of 30 sports successfully) and will be hosting the 16-nations Asian Cup for the 2nd time next year so they have more than enough experience hosting international competitions. On a personal level, let me add that I'm happy Qatar got the rights ahead of all the other bidders cos their time is more in sync with our own in Africa and Europe. . . still can't forget waking up at 2am to watch Nigeria's matches at USA 94 and it would have been the same situation had Australia gotten the rights too not forgetting the FACT that the USA hosted it not too long ago. As for Japan & Korea, they had hosted recently too so they weren't going to get it despite Japan's proposal to use 3D TV technology and South Korea's plan to host some matches in the North and use it as a political tool to unite the two korea's bla bla. I have no doubt in my mind Qatar will stage a beautiful tournament. |
At the risk of sounding insensitive and unfeeling, I'll have to agree with Elrazur. Immortalizing him should be a personal thing IMO. Lots of Nairalanders have dedicated their signatures, profile pics and comments to him already. . .and that's as far as it should go to me. By the way, this thread belongs in the Nairaland section and not here. |
ladygaga:You call what Kirk Franklin does singing or rapping? ![]() He only "talks" and ad libs on songs while others do the singing. He's a very successful musician/recording artiste though. |

medjai:Thanks! I know about the Kalu Uche in Enyimba though. I've actually watched him play LIVE before. |
mbulela:Thanks! @ Zoraro Here are the fixtures for the Group A matches from FIFA's Website. It seems the times haven't been fixed. SOURCE

Poor Kwara United cos I see them slipping further down the log table when Heartland holds them to a draw later today ![]() |
honeric01:YES unless its someone else with the exact name. |
@ Honeric and medjai Do you guys remember Barnabas Imenger? He was a member of Nigeria's 1995 (King Fahd) FIFA Confederations cup squad in Saudi Arabia. I recall he played against Mexico in that tournament. He's listed by Kwara United as a player for this season. I can't believe this guy is still playing till now unless it's someone else. . .I mean he was team-mate with Siasia, Amokachi, Ammuneke, Adepoju, Yekini, Finidi etc and all these guys have since retired. |
I nominate Genuflect eldee:He did! He's been posting on the thread. |
So sad! May God give the family the fortitude to bear the loss. |
