Their Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika anthem is easily top 5 in the world and even me wey no be S.African dey feel am wella.

Arise O' Compatriots wasn't bad too. It was a very good call to war and battle anthem but PBAT go get brain touch change am.

Make I drop this one. True life story.

It was in August 2023. My institution was on vacation and I was in Lagos. On that fateful day, around 5pm, I was driving and was stuck in traffic on Ikorodu road.

A young guy selling gala approached at my driver's side, and gesticulated to me to buy. I shook my head and waved my hand indicating I wasn't interested. This guy no leave, instead he tapped on my windscreen and gesticulated for me to wind down the glass. I became annoyed, and in my mind was like, "wetin na, na by force to buy?" So I wound down with the intention to halla for him.

He spoke before I could utter a word, and what he said made me freeze, and deflated my anger and annoyance completely.

He said;

"Sorry sir, I just wanted to greet you. You're my lecturer at XYZ university. You thought me ABC 101 and EFG 111 last session".

With shock on my face, I said "Wow! Which department and what are you doing here"?

He replied; "Anatomy sir. I'm hustling to raise money to pay my school fees, and go back to school on resumption"

Me: You came a long way o. I never imagined to meet any of my students like this. Well done.

The traffic was about to move so I picked my phone and told him to drop his digits promising to message him later that night

So when I got home, I called him and requested for his aza, and when he sent it, I transferred 10k to him.

To put things in perspective, I live and work in the farthest state in the South east, and this encounter was in LAGOS.

The encounter completely changed my perspective and mindset about the students. It opened my eyes, and made me see their suffering, hustling and what they go through to be in school.

As per our local market here, encounters plenty so make I no go that side.

If one student could cross states to hawk gala in Lagos traffic just to return to school in the East, then there are thousands more like him with stomachs rumbling but hanging on by grit and hope.

That’s why I rate NELFUND and would always commend PBAT for it. It’s not politics but helping the poor, and this kind of help will lessen the burden of parents, enable families re-apportion resources and also make a difference in their lives.

OasisX, you're welcome.

I have relatives that also had their rent pegged at the initial price for at least 7 years in this Lagos. But that's definitely not in Ikoyi.

U see the thing about those highbrow areas is the people who own those properties know the value of what exactly they possess. And when I say this, I don't mean maybe the beauty of the house or anything like that, but the commercial viability of their property. If u feel whatever amount tbey are asking for as rent is too much, right there u would see a corporate organization pay the price and convert the house to a commercial premises.

I attached picture of a 25 million naira per annum 2 bedroom at Ikoyi to this post. What I'm clearing Theflint1 is that u won't see a landlord that will forgo let's say 2 million out of the asking price and collect 23 million from u because u write letter say u dey dream of living in the house and u can plant flower.

If we are talking of a property at Igando and u are begging landlord from 800k to 750k, I can agree it is very much possible.
I agree landlords in high-brow locations like Ikoyi are commercially aware and know the worth of their properties but I think the more important factor in this case is not the location but the mindset of the property owner.

Person wey get commercial property for Ikoyi na big person already and may not need the extra cash to feel justified. Such a landlord may choose to rent the property to a responsible couple with a little discount than let it to a G-boy willing to pay the asking price.

Also, the rent pegging thing for a period is not peculiar to location. It's more about the personality of the landlord, his values, his perception and disposition towards the tenant based on how the tenant dey behave and maintain the property. A landlord in Ikoyi may fix rent for 5 years because he likes his tenant despite the appreciating value of properties in the area while another in Bariga fit dey increase rent annually.

Admittedly, the location of the property will affect the market value but the choice of tenant is dependent on the landlord and his values, and how he perceives prospective tenants.

Forget ghat talk.

Nobody lets out an Ikoyi property for a chicken change; not even a non profit organization will rent out a landed property at Ikoyi for a price less than it's true market value.

Real life no be nollywood bros.
I agree with your general sentiment but on some rare occasions, the landlord may just take a liking to a prospective tenant and give some concessions, like a flexible payment plan.

I got such a concession when I moved into my current place. Landlord agreed for me to pay 80% upfront and pay the balance 3 months into my rent period. Also, gave me a few days jara by allowing my rent to run from 1st February despite moving in mid-January.

....And oh, no be Lagos landlord wink

Ghana defeats Algeria 4 - 2 via penalty after a goalless 120 minutes.

It's inhumane to have women play 120 minutes. Games should be decided via penalty after 90 minutes.

He speaks well, answers questions without giving too much away and most importantly he avoided the booby traps that were set for him, like that question on officiating.

Whose goal do you consider the best and goal of the match?

1st goal (Ohale)
2nd goal (Okorokwo)
3rd goal (Ihezuo)
4th goal (Demehin)
5th goal (Ijamilusi)
For me, it was the third goal by Ihezuo.

✓Good anticipation of the mis-nodd from the Zambian defender.

,✓Good acceleration and run through to get to the ball.

,✓ Good stamina and upper body strength to body check the Zambian defender and chest the ball forward

✓ Perfect placement and execution for the goal.

It's a centre forward's dream goal.

Really Painful Watching Oshoala.... I watched all her Bay Fc games last season and this season (She's been largely relegated to the bench 2nd half of last season and the whole of this season).... Some of her Bay FC games i watch, i end up turning it off.

Can't pass, can't run, can't control the ball (And this is baffling, given that she started off as a midfielder), can't do anything on the pitch....She's basically occupying space.

So Sad 🙂‍↔️😔
She's so bad she isn't even deserving of being a squad member.

Football has left her completely.

Are you okay? You want to play two DMs so you will later complain that we're not scoring goals.

The lineup is perfect. It's a 4-3-3. The Zambians will most likely defend most of the time so we need good attacking-minded midfielders to open them up with splitting passes and slalom runs.

Echegini fits this role perfectly. Ajibade is in the CM too. One DM is enough. Ajibade can help win balls too in the midfield if necessary.

I hope Ijamilusi proves her mettle though I would have preferred Babajide playing as an inverted left winger.

I haven't seen much
You spoke my mind. Except for Rinsola who is not starting, this line up is okay with me. Hopefully Ijamilusi drops a masterclass today and proves her mettle.

Also hope Madugu's in-game management will be stellar cos thats what will either make or mar the team.

I'm optimistic of a victory.

Upfront combo

LW-Rinsola
CF-Ihezuo
RW-Ordega(sub Esther in for her or shift Ajibade to RW and let Ordega go off for Echegini, then Esther for Rinsola in that case)

Normally, if not for that finger injury that seem like an excuse for Chioma, I'd like to see her come on.

With a 4123 approach
Where Toni/Echegini and Ajibade play that 2. With one of Ucheibe/Ayinde behind them(obviously Ayinde)

I saw the Zambia coach statement about Unity. It was hilarious but it made one think our squad are having some division. Lol
The emboldened is not an excuse. It's real.

I saw a footage of their training session and Chioma's right hand was wrapped from the wrist down to the fingers.

Madugu said she trains with the team but the players know to play around her with caution because of the injury but in match situations opponents may target that particular body part to take her out of the game which is true so it makes sense not to risk her.

Acknowledging his political sagacity and a few good deeds like NELFUND, Tax reform bill and local government autonomy doesn't mean I support PBAT.

I have always been clear about my choices for 2027. I support Peter Obi but I'm not just vociferous about it like others cos I don't see the point.
