You need pretty much the same documents you used to apply for your initial study permit. Please be sure you can raise the amount within that time, as students are only allowed to work 20 hours per week.

Kindly advise her properly..getting a Hosp and doctor don’t suffice anymore at least not in recent times..I advise her to get the Regional health authority letter everyone that applied was asked to get..ones inability to get it led to refusals for many people..

I think the easiest way to get one is through referrals from friends who are based in a particular city where you intend to give birth.
Other option is from fellow landers who have used one in the past but you have to read through the thread for contacts/names that some people were kind enough to drop on the thread.
Also you may lookup via google but this mean you have to streamline your search to a particular city and be prepared to make many calls/ sending a as many mails as possible. If you are going to make a call, to take into consideration the time difference.
Another thing I find out is most hospitals won't accept direct clients, unless they are being referred by an OB/GYN. Also I find out that the OB/GYN first want to know if you are in Canada or have a Visa ready before they can give any positive response. But then again, you just have to try.

I will share my POE experience sometime this week.

Please guys note that my letter for regional health authority was from the authority itself (A cousin's friend works for the health authority in the province i wanted to go to) in the letter they listed the hospital that i intended to deliver. I attached the invoice for the hospital separate and also attached the letter from the health authority) The letter from the health authority just talks about the fact that i have consulted with a provider in the network specialized in obstetrics and gynecology and i will be settling the bill directly with them. There was no deposit or payment made.

They also mentioned the size of facility i planned to give birth and the average number of babies born there per week. I now suspect the reason this was mentioned was to show the embassy that i would not be inconveniencing a resident who plans to birth there.

Also note the letter stated that neither myself nor the new born will be using any provincial health insurance. Apparently this kind of letters are very difficult to obtain as you would need someone(resident or citizen) to do an affidavit and take it to the health authority.

I guess not being able to track your application is a new development cos I submitted application on December 2nd also (paper route). I got confirmation my documents has been sent to IRCC.
Visa application, tracking ID No. ********** has been received at the Lagos OC VAC on 2019-12-03 10:20:14 AM GMT Standard Time and is on transit to the IRCC Office in Lagos OC ,for processing.

And I tried tracking from the following week, I got response to the tracking saying, 'no records found' I mailed them and this was the response I got

Kindly be informed that your application is not ready yet for collection; it is still under processing at the Embassy.

Unlike 2015 when my brother applied for canadian study visa, he was able to track from the following week, I guess what we are experiencing now is a new development.

So I will advise those still waiting be patient and not to worry. It will end in praise in Jesus name.

She probably mistakenly selected approved instead of denied. She didn’t want to start telling you stories that she made a mistake. Maybe she needed your passport details to go back to your file since she had no way to trace you back she called you. To be honest though I don’t think the wedding anniversary thing for uncle is sufficient maybe you should add other plans to your itinerary. Infact saying you were going to spend time with your uncle and his family is more tenable.

The system gave you that visa but she override it after calling you back, try to re-apply as soon as possible and apart from visiting for just wedding include things like sight seeing and shopping for the New Year, you know things that will add money to the U.S Economy and also don't forget to tell them that you're the only one representing your family.

Please what surprised me was that after I took my passport and the refusal letter from her, on my way going out of the America Lagos embassy , she was calling me back, I didnt notice I was the one she was calling, she sent security to call me back, when I went to her she took back my passport back from me and she started typing on her system for about 5 minutes, tell me please am sorry kindly wait there's an error, she continues typing still keep on telling me there is an error, later she just said am truly sorry kindly reapply, she handover back my passport and she. Called next. Please can someone tell me why this happened

I agree with you but the bashing probably stems from the fact that we have seen people like this online and offline. She has probably read the last 50 pages of the thread and knows all of the above. This question is coming from the mindset of how can I beat the system and have my child. Why would anyone want to beat the system. its either because they plan to not pay or use government assisted programs to birth. Travelling at 5 months when you don't have complications is not a normal occurrence. Then she will come back and when next she goes for an interview will pretend she has never given birth in the USA before.

We know that the consulate monitors this thread, when they see this kind of posts it reinforces the stereotypes they have about us and puts the rest of us who are trying to do the right thing at a disadvantage.

Hmmmm,one success story on this thread will change the outlook of this birth tourism

I would suggest @okoji ( whose visa was rejected that she may not return afterwards) engage the services of an immigration lawyer not consultants....use google to check ones with best reviews. They can review your docs and even appeal your case in a federal court.

Secondly, with the rate of denial, am thinking ppl should "buy" medical insurance as an added bonus to what u are paying/ depositing to hospitals.

The logic behind it is medical insurance can cover from $25k to $100k or more. If the embassy see u have bought private medical insurance and u have a strong account bal after u mist have paid advance to the hospital, am sure u will be granted visa. ( just my thots will try it next year though)

Someone from the UK last year I know bought med insurance of $500 got into Canada and had an emergency... She was rushed to a hospital and the insurance paid for everything cause she had early labor.

Thing is many private insurance won't cover maternity costs like prenatal and childbirth... But if u have an emergency and need attention to deliver, it covers it....

Except someone that understands how it works can educate me pls.

The weather may really have been a point of consideration. Minnesota is so darn cold right now, and I'm not talking about U.K. type of cold/winter. This is in a different category entirely. Oftentimes, it's colder in Minneapolis than in Alaska. Tourists to the state at this time of the year are usually outdoorsy types that are looking to ski, snow shoe, hike, ice fish, hunt and all the other winter type activities the state is famous for. Or they are visiting family. It's kind of unusual to want to visit at this time of year with the sole purpose of going to Nickelodeon universe. The Mall of America itself that houses it is a much bigger tourist attraction. Nickeloden universe in Minnesota is honestly a lame attraction. I'm guessing this is why the VO asked you for your itinerary. Probably was not convinced that you would visit Minnesota for that attraction when there is an awesome 9 acre Nickelodeon universe in New Jersey that outshines the Minnesota version by light years. It's the largest indoor theme park in the U.S.
