Romance › Is It Normal For Nigerian Men To Beat Women by SemuhleB(op): 2:44pm On Jun 14, 2015
Okay so here goes. I have a few Nigerian male friends and a couple of days ago this is what one of them said to me " Here in South Africa you women are too free". Every little beating then you call the police. In Nigeria if a police came the first thing they would ask you is what is your relationship between the lady, and if it's your Gf/wife the police would leave you to continue. Beatings is how you keep women in check.

After hearing this I was appalled but then I began to understand why a lot of Nigerian men beat their girlfriends and wife's here. So is it really a cultural thing, that it is okay for men to beat women? Do the police really not do anything about this?

i find it strange that the word "hygiene" has been brought up several times.

i wonder how many men make sure of their cleanliness when expecting head. balls have some of the worst sweat ever (think about that sack just glued to an inner thigh), and let us not forget the smell of stale urine also from the fact there is no wiping. and the hair on the scrotum might be the grossest human hair imaginable- worse than the hair in the crack.

i am not saying that one is grosser than the other, mind you. everyone should just have equal expectations of themselves and others.

also, i don't think that a female that might smell a little funky down there is "unclean", they just might have had their daily shower 12 hours earlier.

Everyone is jealous of them because they have swag, rich and they are taking our women. Nigerians are funny people. We should let them slide because living in hell on earth, you will say anything to make yourself feel important even lies.
Especially the women part cracks me up so much. Majority of South African women well the classy educated ones do not like Nigerian men. Nigerian men have a bad reputation here as they are chronic womanizers, cheats and they love to beat their girlfriends up. Nigerian men generally like women and especially yellow bones with ass and hips and they go crazy. The way they flip over women here is what makes the average South African believe that Nigerian women are not attractive. Also Nigerian men are the last on the list of the foreign men that South African women date. It seems they have an ego where they believe that they are better than every country and their women are crazy about them. They say our men are lazy but I have heard them use the same lines with Ghana men too.

Shame on Nigeria..

Shame on the giant of Africa..

Nigerians have spoilt their country and want to spoil other people's country..

Nigerians should stop crying xenophobia.

When Ghanians invaded Nigeria and Nigerians were chasing Ghana citizens to ghana By force and termed it "Ghana Must go".. Didn't they know that was Xenophobic?

It is ok if you degrade your country, but other countries won't allow you degrade their own country..

No wonder Indonesia didn't hear plea to stop execution of drug traffickers of which 4 were nigerians.

Nigerians are liabilities to other Nation.

Nigerians must look inward and fix themselves.. Nobody would fix Nigeria but Nigerians..
Exactly. I know South Africa is not perfect and has a lot of problems. We accept that there is Xenophobia in our country. But Nigerians never want to accept that they are also a problem. Why is it that every country all over have problems with Nigerians? That surely must mean something? I dunno why it seems that most of the bad Nigerians travel to other Countries and give all Nigerians a bad name.

In CapeTown there is a place called Parklands and it's like a mini Lagos. Drugs and prostitution is ripe there and it has become overcrowded and noisy. This same area is not what it used to be.

There are other foreign Nationals in South Africa who we have never had problems with like Ghana and Namibia for example. Why is it that you never hear complaints about them? It's because these citizens are law abiding citizens and do not have a rock stuck up their ass.

hey beauty.

What breed are you talking about? Are you implying that we have superior types amongst humans? Well, I hope you have come to the realization that if ever a caste system exists amongst humans you are nowhere near the top-don't be deceived by your looks.

This hate for Nigerians sure runs through the blood of you black South Africans.

the reporting on Xenophobia was overdone but the Apartheid issue was not.

You should be happy that the world came to your rescue before it was too late. You definitely would not have access to the resources to pi.mp yourself like this and even use the internet.

grin cool
Lol by 'breed' am not talking about looks but I see you had to chirp in my looks grin grin. What I was trying to say is the money grabbing cheap poor ladies are the ones who go for you men. That's the truth unfortunately and that's why they love you so much because you men sure know how to spend on them to get what you want. I personally don't hate Nigerians but I know there are a lot of South Africans that do. But it's not only limited to South Africa. Unfortunately a lot of people across the globe hate Nigerians. Is this about Xenophobia or Apartheid? Yes Apartheid happened but honestly Nigeria keep going on about how much they helped SA and it was only on Nairaland that I heared this hearsay. In our apartheid Museums Nigeria is not listed amongst the Countries that helped SA. Some countries that actually helped SA have been victims of this act but you do not hear them going about running their mouths about this. Also no Nigerians were killed during this Xenophobic attacks so I don't get why you are making this a Nigerian thing when it clearly is not.

My Igbo brothers sure know how to woo a woman.

Those South Africans have every reason to be fearful .

Every woman wants a man who is dependable , emotionally, psychologically, materially, etc.

Igbo men sending fear through the hearts of other African men since 1914.
I don't know why Nigerians like to make things about women all the time. For your information out of all the foreign men that SA women date, Nigerian men are in the minority. To be honest those that are dating Nigerian men are a certain kind of 'breed' if you know what I mean. I will be honest that Xenophobia is a problem in South Africa and am against the way it was handled cos there are much better ways such as doing what Nigerians did to Ghana rather than killing the foreigners. I will also say that the media over-sensationalised the whole xenophobia attacks as a lot of videos and pictures circulated where not even from SA. It is bad but it was really over done.

Thanks to those of you that were kind in your replies. Maybe I wasn't clear enough but I did not get the advice I was asking for. I certainly did get lots of reason to distrust my husband but I actually trust him. We've been together for nearly 7 years and our relationship good it's just that we struggle when he's in his country and I wanted advice on how I could better understand and communicate with my igbo husband. I do not feel at all insecure by the negative comments. He does not have another wife. If he wanted to be with someone else he would have been. Again, thanks to those of you who
tried to be kind and positive. What goes around comes around.
My dear you are your own problem. You came on this site asking for advice. We gave you our opinion and advice of which you didn't like so now what was the whole point of your thread. I think now it's just best for you to accept the fact that you will never hear from him when he is in Nigeria and just deal with it simple.

The best thing would be to speak to him about your concern and if that doesn't work then since you don't want to believe anything else then you just have to deal with it instead of frustrating yourself

Dear Missy, you know I used to think people in the family section of NL were cruel or cold when they deal hashly with people who come with such stories. But you know what after reading this i cannot hide my irritation as well.

People on this section will try and help you open your eyes but if they see you really like your dark place, they will leave you to it. So you need to be sure of what exactly you want to find out when you come here.

First of all, if you think him not calling doesn't mean he has another wife as suggested why are you in this forum about such a minor issue? Why not wait for him to come back again and ask why he is not making time to call you after all the discussions you had?

Secondly, do you want Nigerians or other Igbos to lie to you and tell you there are no phones in Igboland or their culture doesn't allow calls or its normal for igbo man to act like that when he's home bla bla bla or something ridiculous like that?

Do you go to forums about your small domestic issues like these all the time?

You say he would not be married as he has been in Europe for over ten years but you also mention he goes home often i guess that could be yearly or so, right? Just because you would not have a husband who sees you once a year you assume other women would also not agree to that? Right?

If you trust your husband and his family this much why are you not asking them why he doesn't call? Or better yet ask them to call him and get him to call you?

Why come to a forum of strangers who cannot even call or locate your husband rather than his family?

You know what I think? Deep down you know something is not right but you need strangers to tell you otherwise.

I had a friend who did the samething atleast she was not married and didn't know the guys family, she would put up one excuse after another but deep down she knew what was up.

My advise to you is, go ask his family and be satisfied with whatever response you get until he comeback to answer for himself. If and only if you are still not convinced you can comeback for real advise on how to find information about your husband marital status elsewhere.

It means Nigerian men are better than South African black men.
Don't you ever get tired of your senseless rants. Honestly most women think their men are the best. You can ask the foreign women on here and see what they say. Just like most of you men too think your women are the best. It's normal. Just because some date outside their nationality or race does not mean they love all Nigerian men for example. She just loves her man. Now stop this senseless comparison. It's very childish.
