Photo Of Mock Super Eagles World Cup Jersey Goes Viral, Designer Randa Reacts

The designer of the mock Super Eagles jersey which has gone viral on social media Andrew Randa has reacted to the acceptance that has greeted his work the last few days.

https://i1.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/IMG_4006.jpg?resize=218%2C300

https://i2.wp.com/owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/IMG_4005.jpg?resize=218%2C300

Jos based Randa, who spent some time in the United Kingdom last year where he perfected the art of what has now made him an internet sensation told Owngoalnigeria.com the motivation behind the design.

OGN : Randa what inspired the design?

Randa : The desire to see our jersey, our national pride carry a bit of our heritage was what inspired me. I felt for the past ten years or so, the design has been bland and lacked a creative touch, a creative and Nigerian touch and I decided to go to work and bring out something that Nigerians can be proud off.

OGN : How do you feel seeing how well It has been accepted by Nigerians?

Randa: It’s crazy to be honest. I didn’t expect it will be taken to. To be honest I design that particular set that has gone viral in about 30 minutes. My wife had gone out with the kids and I was alone and bored. I put my PC on and just played around some template and it came out good. I decided to put it on Twitter and I shut down. A few minute later my Twitter mentions went up in smoke and it has been like that since then.

OGN : Have you shown it (Jersey) to the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) ?

Randa : A member of the NFF Marketing Committee has seen the design and I’m sure he has told them about it but I haven’t communicated with them officially. I’m told however that they will reach out to me for discussions and consultations after the World Cup because the kits for the 2018 World Cup is already sorted.

OGN : Bar these set of jerseys do you have any other in store?

Randa: I have more than 20 templates specifically designed for the Super Eagles and a lot more for teams in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) , Nigeria National League (NNL) and NLO. It is what I love doing and there is a lot where that came from. I’m truly humbled by the calls and messages from Nigerians, home and abroad.. Never thought it will go viral this way.

OGN : Thanks for the time Andrew Randa.

Randa : My pleasure any day.

TheGoodJoe:
We might be reading his motive wrongly. The coach might also be interested in improving Onyekuru to the best of his knowledge and there are things he wants Onyekuru to cut before he gives him the nine role.

Maybe he sees a bright future in Onyekuru and wants to play a part in Onyekuru's development.

Keep in mind, Sir Alex Ferguson cut out lots of dribbling from CR7 and made him a more direct player. This in turn helped CR7 develop into one of the World's greatest players.

Let us give the coach time.
He can do all of that on the training ground. Nobody improves a player by badmouthing him in the press

This guy doesn't seem to like Onyekuru. He probably isn't impressed with his work rate or its something personal. Just last week he said Onyekuru was more focused on playing in the world cup than the team.
The same guy that was always reminding moses Simon how much he earns whenever he made a mistake. He seems to be a very poor man manager.

Great game. We owned the 1st half, played with great intensity and pressing, reduced Valencia to a defensive side. But for the goal that was denied, barca would have ended the game in the first half.

In the second half Valencia raised their game, exploited our right hand side. While in the first half they expected Vermaleen to be our weak link, in the second half they shifted focus to our right side and it paid off.

Semedo started the season with high confidence, making dashing runs and taking on defenders, then EV decided to bench him. It is very obvious that has affected his psyche. He mostly makes back and sideways passes these days, although one can argue that the absence of a great RWF is a contributing factor.
In the first half he did great offensively but in the 2nd half when Valencia targeted his wing and with the absence of a RWF, it resulted in the goal.

Lastly, if we have any dreams of doing well in the Champions League, then we need to get a good striker come January. It's hard to admit it but Suarez has lost it.

All in all it was a great game, and Valencia gave us a great challenge. They played positive football unlike atletico.
All things being equal, we'll end this year unbeaten.

You cannot fault Rohr for the dearth in talent, if we really had defenders better than the ones in the team then reeling out their names shouldn't be hard for you. That you are trying to avoid it tells how scarce they are. Talent no the hide o

Those days we didn't have a super Eagles thread on nairaland, we only had a black stars thread and they barely discussed soccer, all they did was insult Nigeria.

My conclusion: we gotta play the ranking game better.

So I was just thinking last night how a country like Poland (and to some extent Portugal) played and manipulated the FIFA ranking game to find themselves in the pot 1. This something we could discuss here and make some recommendations to the NFF regarding the 2022 World Cup. I mean, Poland has shown that you can game the system and that's not cheating .... it's called gaining a competitive edge grin

Anyway, let's put on our thinking caps on and come up with ways we can make FIFA ranking work for the Super Eagles going forward.

Mickael2, Junnyjake, Kog45, MetalJigsaw, elyte89, Icon4s, Mujtahida, tbaba1234, Joebie, goodjoe, Taliban, forgiveness, komekn, ChrisKels, Chrismario, kennysville, kingphilip, soetanoreoluwa, safarigirl, chrisooblog, optional1, Napoleon55, realpoacher, jotey, sontoly, Daejoyoung, nelszx, etc.

Can you share the tweet?
Including this quote from German journalist mark Roland.

” It’s scary how some players think they can have a future at a team that doesn’t even know if they exist at all. I think Akpoguma is trying to get Germany to notice him by turning down Nigeria

This is the first time he is having a taste of the Bundesliga, and he is already 22. In the Germany national team there are about 8 players ahead of him, and a further 7 waiting in the wings. Among them he is by far the oldest among all and the least rated. If not for injuries he wouldn’t have been in the team of Hoffeinheim. Credit to him he has taken the chance to make an impression but in just few games, and one of the games was the one Rohr watched.

He has to reconsider and play for Nigeria, that is his surest way of going to the World Cup. He need to take a cue from Leon Balogun who is now considered by some in Germany as one who got away from them, thanks to his display for Nigeria''

Akpoguma Makes U-Turn On Snubbing Nigeria For Germany Says Anything Can Happen

German-Nigerian defender Kevin Akpoguma has left the door open over a potential switch of allegiance to Nigeria, few days after saying he wants to focus on progressing through the ranks of Germany.

He has already represented Germany at various youth levels, but coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr was hoping to convince him to switch allegiance to Nigeria at senior level.

Rohr is in Germany and he confirmed that he will hold talks with Akpoguma soon to have a chat with him on playing for Nigeria, but the 22 year old immediately responded by saying he wants to play for Germany.

However reports from Germany monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that he granted an interview on a sport programme in Germany, where he confirmed he is open to the idea of playing for Nigeria.

Roland Mark said Akpoguma even confirmed talks will be held with Rohr who handles the Nigerian team, referring to him as a coach he respects a lot right from his days as director of youth football in Germany.

Simple question ❓ how many first team games has he played? How many England youth games has he played? Finally, what loan moves has he been on and performedhuh

That will tell us progression or level ability otherwise it's just a good gesture. However, playing for United youth team doesn't mean automatic quality.

I know United well and have seen many boys just making up the numbers. It's possible to have only 6/7 players with real potential and other who look good because they are surrounded by quality players.

Also there is the issue of corruption and that can push a player back. I have seen him play not that impressive so far.

I remember John Cofie a team mate of Pogba he was a striker in the United team that won the youth cup with Pogba. Where is he now at the 8th tier of football that's how low he has gone.
Unfortunately, you are right.
The cases of Godswill Ekpolo and Derik osede comes to mind.
