Religion / Re: Why Do You Believe In God? by sessydoo(m): 6:42pm On Sep 13, 2013 |
Looking around us, definitely there is a supernatural being (called God) that is responsible for all these great creatures we see evrywhere we go. The world order is too perfect to exist without some sort of supernatural backing from a supreme being. Sun rises, sun sets, the mystery of night and day, then life and death. Infact the "life" in every living creature remains a mystery, that even scientists have no answer to in all their achievements to date. They still CANNOT make alive or create a living thing. Thats enough proof to believe there is an inivisible "being" somewhere responsible for all these miracles; religion calls him God and we still cannot fully understand how mighty he is, not even in our reckless imagination. My religion has taught me how to approach him and pray to him through his son......well the question is what do i stand to lose if i have faith in this God? absolutely nothing. 2nd question is if i dont believe in him and thereafter i discover God really exists, then how will I face him on the judgement day? I think my first option is safer for me...winks lol Shallom! 2 Likes |
Religion / Re: The Old Vs New Covenant - Revelation Of The New Covenant by sessydoo(m): 3:22pm On Sep 09, 2013 |
I have followed every arguement on this topic with keen interest, its an eye-opener and very informative. I have always argued that the new covenant xtians are under the "law of giving" and NOT the "law of tithing" he that sows sparingly shall reap sparingly and he that giveth bountifully shall reap bountifully. Every man should sow according to his measure of grace n blessings not being cajoled that it is only when u give ur 10%, dat u will be blessed. However I understand many pastors have used the law of tithing to manage their resouces n income, God will help us. Meanwhile it is important to emphasize that tithe or no tithing, its just for your own benefit, that will not take any man to heaven. What will take xtians to heaven is their salvation, which we are all encouraged to work out with fear and trembling and holiness without which no man shall see God. It will be very nice if today's men of God (who have turned themselves to gods of men) can lay more emhpazy on this all-impotant truth, the way they emphasize tithing. The problem with the new breed of xtians is that they are too lazy to study the word of God themselves and so they swallow evry message from their GOs hook, line n sinker without checking with the scriptures. May God help us....shallom |

Culture / Breaking News British Lawmakers Approve Gay Marriage In Historic Vote -bbc news by sessydoo(m): 10:21pm On Feb 05, 2013 |
British lawmakers voted in favour of controversial legislation allowing gay marriage on Tuesday despite fierce opposition from members of Prime Minister David Cameron's own party. The move puts Britain on track to join the ten countries that allow same-sex couples to marry, but Cameron had the embarrassment of seeing half of his Conservative legislators refusing to back him. The prime minister insists that the plan to allow same-sex couples to marry in England and Wales would "make our society stronger" although the draft law still has several other parliamentary hurdles to clear. It passed by 400 votes to 175, mainly because it had overwhelming support from the opposition Labour Party and also from many members of the Liberal Democrat party, the junior partner in Cameron's coalition government. British media said around 140 Conservatives voted against and around 130 in favour with some 40 abstentions. Cameron had allowed lawmakers a free vote on the issue, meaning they were not directed by party managers. Speaking before the vote, Cameron said: "Today is an important day. I am a strong believer in marriage, it helps people commit to each other, and I think it is right that gay people should be able to get married too. "This is, yes, about equality. But it is also about making our society stronger. "I know there are strong views on both sides of the argument -- I accept that. But I think this is an important step forward for our country." Opponents attacked the bill during an often impassioned day-long debate ahead of the vote in the House of Commons, or lower house of parliament. Pleas from Cameron's heavyweight cabinet allies to persuade their Conservative colleagues to back his plans and avoid damaging divisions fell on deaf ears. A former junior defence minister, Gerald Howarth, said the government had no mandate for such a "massive social and cultural change". "I believe this bill is wrong, the consultation was a complete sham. It has caused deep and needless divisions within the Conservative Party," he said. Another Conservative opponent, Roger Gale, said the legislation was "Orwellian". "Marriage is the union between a man and a woman, has been historically, remains so. It is Alice in Wonderland territory, Orwellian almost, for any government of any political persuasion to seek to come along and try to re-write the lexicon," he said. Same-sex couples in Britain have had the right to live in civil partnerships since 2005 but cannot marry. Culture Secretary Maria Miller, the minister responsible for the legislation, insisted the bill would protect religious freedoms and "not marginalise those who believe marriage should be between a man and a woman". The push to win over those Conservatives still bitterly opposed to gay marriage was led by three senior party members -- finance minister George Osborne, foreign minister William Hague and interior minister Theresa May. In a letter to the Daily Telegraph, they said "attitudes to gay people have changed" and same-sex marriage was "the right thing to do at the right time". The proposals are opposed by the Church of England and its new Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, but the legislation bans the "official" churches from offering gay marriage. The bill must next be scrutinised by a committee of lawmakers and then go before the upper chamber the House of Lords before becoming law. While a majority of people in Britain back gay marriage, polls show that Cameron's strong support for the issue could undermine his party's chances at the next general election in 2015. The issue has not however sparked the impassioned protests seen in France, where the National Assembly on Saturday overwhelmingly approved a key piece of legislation that will allow homosexual couples to marry and adopt children. http://uk.yahoo.com/_ylt=AgJ3125.tenq9zg.nW5LAik4hJp4;_ylu=X3oDMTNobDgzc2JrBGEDMDIwMjEzX2hvdF90b3BpY3MEY3BvcwMxBGcDR2F5IG1hcnJpYWdlIHZvdGUEaW50bAN1awRsdHh0A0dheSBtYXJyaWFnZSB2b3RlBHBvcwMxBHNlYwNydDEtdHMEc2xrA3RpdGxlBHRlc3QDNzAy/SIG=12kbt35nv/EXP=1360185868/**http%3A//uk.news.yahoo.com/david-cameron/%3Ffr=fp-tts-702%26fr2=ps |

Racism n Tribalism are the 2 hydra-headed monsters destroying today's world. Even if u travel abroad to unwind or for holiday,it does not remove racial tendencies or attack....its quite unfortunate dat some animals in human skin are still living in the "stone age" or else by now, they should appreciate n understand the synergy effect of globalization n therefore treat all human beings with respect n dignity irrespective of your race, sexual orientation, background, colour, age, culture etc 4 Likes |

Foreign Affairs / The Last Wishes Of Alexander The Great by sessydoo(m): 12:07am On Feb 02, 2013 |
Got this from a friend and thought of sharing it: THE LAST WISHES OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT On his death bed, Alexander summoned his Generals and told them his three ultimate wishes: 1. The best doctors should carry his coffin; 2. The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery, and 3. His hands should be let loose, hanging outside the coffin for all to see. One of his Generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain. Here is what Alexander the Great had to say: 1. I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that, in the face of death, even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal 2. I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth, stays on earth 3. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed. |
