Your argument is illogical. Usually women don't kiss and tell. How many women go back and tell their mother after indulging in pleasurable sex? I don't know of any. She spoke up because she was lured into an office, over powered, and raped by this old fart. Only in Nigeria. In the developed world, he will be spending plenty of years behind bars.
Christianity EtcRe: Imo Youths Lock Out Bishop-elect by sethken:
ujoatu:
:"The history of the manipulation of the bishopric succession in Igbo land and the constant shoving of the Mbaise right with complacent impunity has been a recurrent datum from the earliest time. There was the incident in which Rev. Fr. Edward Ahaji of Umuokirika Ekwereazu Mbaise who was considered one of the best and was expected to be a bishopric candidate of the then prospective Umuahia Diocese, was eliminated in favour of Fr. A. Gogo Nwedo of Umuahia in 1945 even to the surprise of Fr. Mark Unegbu. But “There was no cry of anit-Mbaise sentiments or stereotype then when Ahaji was not selected”. Again, history had it that Fr. Nwedo was supposed to be transferred from Umuahia to succeed Bishop Heery in the then Onistsha Diocese in 1967 as the Holy Ghost Fathers did not want Arinze to succeed Bishop Heery. But Nwedo was frustrated and prevented from being the bishop of Onitsha by the combined forces of Bishop Mark Unegbu and Fr. Francis Arinze. Arinze personally insisted that only the son of the soil could become the bishop of Onitsha Diocese. Bishop Unegbu being his mentor, fought tooth and nail in his favour and helped Arinze enthroned on the Onitsha Episcopal seat. Another most favoured Mbaise priest, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Okoroanyanwu was again denied the bishopric of old Owerri Diocese in favour of Rev. Fr. Mark Unegbu. This time, Bishop Arinze had to “pay off” Fr. Mark Unegbu for giving him the Episcopal seat of Onitsha. Thus, another favoured Mbaise priest was stopped against the will of the predecessor. This Same act was initiated, superintended and achieved, in the words of erudite Fr. David Iheanacho, when, “In non-subtle manoeuvre, Archbishop Arinze cornered the Episcopal See of Owerri Diocese to his mentor, Fr. Mark Unegbu while blocking the will of Whelan and the missionaries that stated quite clearly they wanted Msgr. Ignatius Okoroanyanwu to shepherd the Episcopal See of Owerri Diocese”. It is not surprising that this accumulated vendetta annoyed Mbaise people and soured their relationship with Bishop Unegbu for long. It was this relationship of victimization and animosity that resulted in the long refusal to create the Diocese of Ahiara until after a long drawn fight.

But the greatest shock came when on the creation, yet another person outside the new Diocese was being eyed for the Episcopal seat of the diocese but was bluffed. It is also on record that not less than two Mbaise priests still alive today have been denied being the bishops of other dioceses in Igbo land some years back. The plan to appoint them were immediately nipped in the bud before it was ever pronounced, in spite of the fact that they are usually qualified and marketable. One wonders why a people so treated like this for years by an institutionalized and unjust hierarchy in a civilized and spiritual institution like the church, should not react once to liberate themselves from an entrenched and unjust structure. It is only a pity that the blind Timeus of our time who see human beings as if they are trees walking around, never know these paganistic dealings fraught in favoritism, son of the soil sentiment and despotism meted to Mbaise people in the past and intending to continue it in this age of enlightenment. It is unfortunate too, that they and the papal Nuncio have rather preferred to tag the Mbaise people clannish and ethnic in other to intimidate, blackmail and oppress them further."
21 hours ago · Like..Nwaimo Steve Chijioke Let us still share this view: "It would be recalled that before the death of the former Bishop, he was supposed to have actually submitted “only names from his diocese” as his prospective successors according to tradition, and this is renewable as directed and demanded by the Canon law and the Vatican. In the event of a sudden death those priests whose names were submitted or other persons outside the list, but who are from the diocese by incardination or as indigenes, would be screened for appointment to the bishopric. Coincidentally, the bishop died around the time Awka Diocese also needed a replacement for the retiring bishop, Eze Okafor. Rev. Fr. Peter Okpaleke from Awka Diocese was attempted by the godfather(s) to take over Awka, in spite of the then sitting auxiliary bishop of the diocese. But he was rejected in his own diocese for untoward and unbecoming desperation and other reasons best known to them. It was then that, impelled by frustration and urged by the forces of distorted and unholy ambition and power, he and his allies started manipulating for Ahiara Diocesan succession with great audacious intrusion. It was this hidden and dark interference that made the two year prayer and attempt for smooth selection of the bishop of Ahiara diocese a huge frustration. Unaware of this, the lay faithful started embarrassing Ahiara priests for their delay in selecting a bishop for two years, ignorant of the fact that it is not the priests themselves that should directly appoint the bishop and that the appointment from those submitted was being compounded by something yet unknown.

Ultimately, the obsession of Fr. Peter Okpaleke and his godfathers is purely a problem of settlement. There is an accumulation quagmire that might logjam to a frustrating alley if he fails to cling to Ahiara Diocese unstopped. The greatest aggression of a man would always come from the frustration of accumulated and unbridled ambition that trespasses beyond his capacity and the none availability of personal resources. But such aggression could be transferred to whoever becomes the obstacle that neutralizes and brings to vanity an erroneously concluded enterprise. This has been the secrete behind their battle of survival in Ahiara Diocese and Owerri province, making Msgr. Peter Okpaleke, a supposed spiritual priest of the Church saying, “over my dead body” that he should resign the bishopric of Ahiara Diocese, in spite of all persuasions by some wise advisers."
21 hours ago · Like..Nwaimo Steve Chijioke Still more on that view:"The settlement problem choking up those masterminding the crisis of Ahiara Diocese is obvious. It should be noted that a big shot in the Vatican power broker is alleged to be choked up with the dire urgency of settling Msgr. Jonas Benson Okoye who was once his secretary and personal aid, as well as Denis Isiuzor and Peter Okpaleke, and perhaps others. It is learnt that these have been flown for the bishopric of some dioceses, for instance Awka in 2010 and the attempt met a brick wall. Nsukka Diocese also failed to yield because the bishop emeritus warned the Nigerian bishops never to attempt to do in his Nsukka Diocese what they have done in Ahira Diocese. Therefore, Nsukka was recently given an indigenous diocesan bishop. But there is an impending urgency to create Ekwulobia Diocese from Awka where Okpleke rightly belongs. Many wonder why Okpaleke should not have been announced for his new Ekwulobia Diocese to stop the long raging battle for Mbaise. The obvious reason is to safeguard Ekwulobia for the settlement of the remaining others born for bishopric. Hence, it became necessary and strategic to hurriedly announce Okpaleke for Ahiara Diocese and install him at all cost to create room in Ekwulobia for the remaining lining up for settlement. If Okpaleke is militarily imposed on Ahiara, he becomes the third from Onitsha province in the seven Dioceses of Owerri Province without one from Owerri shepherding in Onitsha and till date no religious from Owerri is heading any religious congregation in Onitsha province. What a Holy Spirit and universality! If Mbaise must continue to obey the Holy Spirit and the Pope against them and in favour of a certain group since the1950s, then the Holy Spirit must have her maternal home with those people. Why then did the same Spirit not continue to allow the Papacy remain in Italy but decided to change to Germany and now Argentina?

The rejection and resistance of Ahiara Mbaise therefore stems from both the history of suppression of the people of Mbaise in particular, Owerri province, as well as the above chess play of vain ambition by those who see the episcopacy as their exclusive vocation in Igbo land. But this is not an Anambra collective action. Although “Anambra” has been used in the course of this struggle as a matter of illustration, it is never an issue of Anambranaization. The diocese is not fighting against Anambra, the papacy, his infallibility or that it must be their own son, but against injustice by one man, who is coincidentally, from Anambra. It is not a struggle of clannishness or ethnic either on the side of Mbaise people. It is purely a battle against religious imperialism and suppression of a people, who must fight for self-survival and preservation in spite of using the name of the Pope to blackmail and sedate them. Apart from these, have those who preach selfish universality asked themselves the type of justice where the people of Mbaise scattered through out the churches in Nigeria, and one of the first Diocese to loan their priests to almost all the dioceses in Nigeria to start their new dioceses and even now feed them with human, religious and financial resources, not have an indigenous bishop in the midst of the Nigerian bishops in the name of a lop-sided universality?

To crush this resistance against their huge handedness, privileged Church hierarchies have to be employed in sophisticated manners to execute the imposition and conjure up blackmail and stigmatization to indict their challengers. Like Judas Iscariot, the Papal Nuncio, who seemed to have long perfected the act of external imposition with a grip to an offer in cash or kind, unknowingly betrayed his mind on visit to the Diocese in September 2011 in their midst of anxiety for a new bishop. He was on visit for a thanksgiving reception of a friend in Mbaise, to which he attached “accidental pastoral visit”. He personally enquired from the priests and lay faithful their pulse for the delay in the announcement of the new bishop and to know the type of bishop they would want for their Diocese. He was told. Surprisingly, he told the priests in a sophistry of language that they would be given a “catholic Bishop”, as if they were expecting a muslim bishop. He again unusually emphasized and exaggerated the “universality of the church” without regard to the local regard of the church, thereby adding to the suspicion and scare.

The suspicion for treachery came to limelight when the ordour of blackmail and accusation fouled the air that there was petition and counter petition among the priests of Ahiara. Meanwhile, the papal Nuncio was the only one to whom the documents of enquiry were passed under very high and exclusive secrecy. In a twinkle, the rumour of petition was followed with another strange rumour of a strange name as strong contender among the proposed candidates of priests of the Diocese. Up till today, the bishops and the Nuncio have not answered the question of who put the name, for what reason and when all the possible candidates in the diocese and province were exhausted before extending the search to Awka

Following the rumour, the Nuncio was immediately warned and appealed to in writing that this suspected imposition “would mean that none of all the Ahiara Diocesan priests is trustworthy now and implicitly poses the question of whether any could become trustworthy in the future. This could cause a big rift between people and priests in this Diocese for a long time because suspicion of sectarian in fighting would have been admitted if not approved. And if this happens, political considerations would have been respected… And on a very serious note, this would make late Bishop Chikwe’s twenty two years’ efforts in correcting the false image of Mbaise among her neighbours and through out the nation come to nothing; and believe me, I know my people they will fight it at the level one may least expect. Let it be clear that any decision based on fabricated, false and unproven information is bound in and by itself to be false and wrong and, as such, may be resisted to the detriment of faith and morals”."
I think it is time to move on. This entire debacle reemphasizes the notion that Ndi-Mbaise are clannish. Like you said, this was a notion Bishop Chikwe fought hard to dispel. Well that notion is front and center again with the Okpalaeke saga. Mbaise has to look at the bigger picture. We now operate under a democracy. I believe Ihedioha's trouncing at the polls in May had something to do with the rejection of Okpalaeke. He only won in his native Mbaise and no where else. Ihedioha is a decent, and bright guy, who perhaps would have done better than the incumbent, Okorocha. The perception out there is that Mbaise can go to world, and serve, but the world can't come to Mbaise. Mbaise is the only diocese in the Nation where all of its priests come from the same Geo-political space as the diocese. Everyone ordained for Ahiara is Mbaise, that is wrong. Remember the church is universal. Politicians in the future will always point to this singular act in opposition to an Mbaise candidate as unelectable. Personally, I don't believe the lay people give a hoot as to who is Bishop. The folks leading this fight are your perpetual bachelors called priests. They are egomaniacs who have refused to see the greater harm they are inflicting on everything Mbaise. The lay people should press upon the clergy to accept the Bishop.

What Amaechi gave as a response in one of his interviews remains an answer for the entire Nigerian project. If George Bush snr could be succeeded 8 years after leaving office by George Bush jnr then its possible in a changed Nigeria. If Buhari can make Nigeria work then in 20years time competence will completely overide tribe and religion.
Amaechi maybe a governor in Nigeria. He absolutely does not understand American politics. The election of George Bush Jr. an incompetent slowpoke, and a known former alcoholic is not a good example. Bush Jr. was elected because the white man in America felt that power was gradually slipping away from his grip. Clinton/Gore championed minority causes which a lot of whites oppose. Bush Jr. was elected because he was the son of Bush Sr. We all knew during the campaign that he was empty upstairs but he won anyways because of the white majority quest to hang onto power at all cost. The Bush Presidency was a disaster. He will go down in history as one of America's worst.

Bush failures ushered in Obama, an intelligent Harvard trained biracial lawyer. Americans all of a sudden became more open minded to the idea of a black President. They wanted to be accepted again on the international stage. Obama was seen as that figure who will help rewrite the wrongs inflicted on the American image by Bush. I attended an Obama rally in St. Louis, MO. I could not believe my eyes. Over one hundred thousand sea of white heads filled an open arena to listen to a black man speak. Bush Jr. almost turned America into a pariah state. America was now known as this super-power that used its might to subjugate Nations that were in odds with its ideals. Iraq and other failed policies orchestrated by the neo-cons who surrounded Bush was a disaster. America's image was trounced on the international stage. Europe was alarmed.

Using the example of the second coming of Bush is a fail. Maybe only in Nigeria can you use such examples and get away with it. Jeb Bush, Bush the third, absolutely has no chance, even though he was an excellent governor in the State of Florida. Americans will not walk that road a third time. Just like Bush Sr. who was a failure, Bush Jr., was worse.

The wisdom from the Bush years should be this: if something is rejected once, don't go that road a second time. There is a reason why it failed the first time. It is analogous to making up with an ex, giving an ex a second chance, nothing good comes out of it.

I am ambivalent about the whole idea. I always shop at Shoprite Grand Towers at Apo or the outlet at Wuse, all in Abuja when I am in town, and their prices are fair and the quality and authenticity of goods is guaranteed. That is a plus.
But on the negative side, it will destroy the small businesses that are thriving in that area, especially the great Effurun Market which has existed for centuries. Apart from food groceries which comes from nearby villages, I can assure you that the small time traders will wiped out in the nearest future, due to competition. The cost of transporting from the market to the Shoprite outlet is about 30 to 50 naira by public transport, and the distance is less than 5 minutes!
It is one of the bitter price of globalization, the large companies gobbling up the smaller business entities, and no one seems to care!

Dnt mind my English, just answer the question
I was going to ignore this but I am compelled to respond.

Shagari was spared jail time because he is a core-Northerner. He is Hausa-Fulani. Therefore, he doesn't deserve to be disrespected.

Shagari was at the helm of the government Buhari toppled. Buhari and his fellow coup plotters accused Shagari of squandermania, and election rigging. It is then illogical that the same Shagari who was accused of gross corruption, and election rigging was spared jail time. Shagari was never prosecuted. His vice, who had less influence in the Shagari administration was hauled into Kirikiri without due-process, conviction, or trial. Please bear in mind, that Ekwueme was a multimillionaire before he joined the Shagari ticket. Ekwueme owned hotels across Nigeria before 1979. Ekwueme owns the Modotels across Nigeria. He was self made. Ekwueme was never found guilty of anything, but yet he languished in detention for years. Ekwueme was not alone. You are out of your mind. You cannot distort history. So much for the professional Nigeria army. The accounts of the civil war are within reach, go grab an independent account and educate yourself.

Biafra held Nigeria at bay for three years, ran over Nigerian military camps, used recovered weapons from Nigeria to hold Nigeria off. Biafra built its own bombs, attempted to manufacture its own plane. It is a fact that Nigeria used more arms to prosecute the Nigeria/Biafra war than all the small arms used in world war II. Where did Nigeria get those weapons from?

You are out of your freaking mind to claim that Nigerian army were professional. If not for Britain, Nigeria was beaten by Ojukwu. If not for Britain, and Russia, Biafra would have emerged. PoliticsWHY A COURT WILL RULE IN BUHARI'S FAVOR ON THE WASC ISSUE by sethken(op): 4:41am On Apr 23, 2015
I am not a fan of GMB but on the WASC issue he will prevail in a court of law. Let's do the legal analysis.

Two Nigerian citizens filed a suit in federal court alleging that GMB lied under oath, when he declared that his West African School Certificate was destroyed when his house was raided and set ablaze in 1985. The citizens allege that GMB does not possess a WASC. He did not graduate from the said government college as he claimed in his affidavit. Therefore, he is not eligible to seek the office of the President of Nigeria.

The Nigerian constitution governing the issue of eligibility to contest for the presidency says the following: to be eligible for the office of the President, a candidate must attain the age of 35, and complete a secondary school education or its equivalent. Even the most casual of jurists will agree that it is not enough to state that one completed his or her secondary education, one has to submit a qualifying document attesting to this fact. The constitution responds to this requirement by stating that a candidate must shows his or her qualification in two ways.

(1) submit a document such as WASC or its equivalent to INEC
(2) where such a document has been destroyed or lost due to unforeseen circumstance, a sworn affidavit attesting to the ownership of such document is sufficient.

It is very clear that GMB did not meet the first requirement as stated by the constitution. However, he met the second requirement. He swore an oath attesting to the completion of secondary education, and ownership of a WASC. By every legal standard, GMB met the requirement of the law.

Here comes a law suit stating that GMB lied under oath. What are the merits of the law suit?

In uncovering the merits of such a law suit, a court will apply a standard of review. Given the circumstance, the test a court will apply will be that of reasonable person. Will a reasonable person under the circumstance agree with the petitioners/plaintiff, that GMB lied under oath? The answer will always be no. Why?

(1) The Plaintiffs appear to be younger than GMB.
(2) The Plaintiffs were not students or officials of the said school GMB attended in 1960 or thereabouts
(3) No living person who claimed to have attended the said school in 1960 has come forward to refute GMB's affidavit.
(4) No group of persons from the graduating class of 1960, with certified WASC from 1960 have come forward to state that GMB was not part of the graduating class of 1960.
(5) None of the plaintiffs graduated from the said school in 1960.

Under the reasonable persons standard as applied by courts everywhere, the burden is on the petitioners/plaintiff to prove that GMB lied under oath. GMB followed the law . He swore and submitted an affidavit. The petitioners cannot carry their burden by only making conclusory statements. To carry their burden, they must submit to the court any credible document countering GMB's affidavit; or any credible person or persons, who will counter GMB's affidavit.

In addition, there is no evidence of a smoking gun- such as a letter from the principle of the school dating back to 1960, stating that GMB was not a student of the school, or that GMB did not sit for WASC or GMB did not complete his secondary education.

The petitioners suit in this case will be analogous to a frivolous law suit filed by any Nigerian who is upset that GMB tendered an affidavit rather than a certified copy of his WASC from London. One must have evidence that GMB lied under oath. It is not enough to state that GMB lied, such is a conclusory statement. A conclusory statement must be backed by facts to survive a thorough legal scrutiny. Without facts, a conclusory statement falls apart like a pack of cards.

Buhari is not required by Nigeria law to retrieve a certified copy of his certificate from the body that conducted the exam and submit same to the Nigerian public. It is up to GMB do so if he so chooses. Until the constitution is amended, GMB followed every letter of the law.

Plaintiff withdraws suit.

http://www.punchng.com/news/plaintiffs-withdraw-eligibility-suit-against-buhari/

Plaintiffs in the two of the three pending suits challenging the eligibility of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to contest in the March 28, 2015, presidential election have been withdrawn.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola who is presiding over the matters at the Federal High Court in Abuja subsequently struck out the matter after the plaintiffs indicated their intention to withdraw the suits on Wednesday.

Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) who is representing one of the plaintiffs, told the judge on Wednesday that his client decided to withdraw his suit to afford the incoming government time to focus on the “enormous task” of governance.

When the second case which was filed by Max Ozoaka was called, his lawyer, Dr. Chike Amobi, also adduced similar grounds for withdrawing the suit.

With the Wednesday’s development, the remaining pending eligibility suit against Buhari is the one filed by Ayakeme Whiskey (FHC/ABJ/CS/68/15).

As of the time of filing this story, no date has been fixed for the hearing in the pending suit.

Buhari, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was on April 1 declared winner of the election, defeating the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The plaintiffs had filed the suits challenging Buhari’s eligibility, asking the court to declare him ineligible to contest in the election on the basis of his alleged failure to submit his certificate of academic qualifications along with his Form CF001 to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The plaintiffs claim that Buhari’s failure to submit his certificate of academic qualifications contravened provisions of sections 131 and 318 of the 1999 Constitution and section 31(3) of the Electoral Act, 2010.
I am not a GMB supporter but on this issue he will prevail in a court of law.

I think I will start by trying to be Anthropomorphic, as it will bet express my heading.
Its really sad when insanity realizes that he has a mental disorder then he is as good as cured. The moment a people come to terms with their complex problem which often place them at loggerheads with their host communities the better for them.

I seem not to fathom how a tribe claim to have suffered humiliations and deprivation from other ethnic nationalities. This allegation should be consider very weighty even though it was not substantiated. Nonetheless, this aggrieved ethnic nationality needs to ask herself what is about it that could be responsible for the purported hostile acts of other ethnic nationalities toward it.

One problem I have with Chimanda is all her articles tends to quote Chinua Achebe, even when its evident chinua actions are wrong. The sane mistake she made, about his book "there was a country". Now she is trying to say that the Igbo's were murdered in early 1960's for political reasons? Who started the war? Was it the Nigerian Arny or The late Ojukwu ? I see Chimabda is biased. And she is just a staunt re-echoer of Chinua Achebe's belief.

I liked the fact that she related the massacre of the Ibos in different parts of the country before the civil war. However what I do like to ask her is this,

1. chimanda was there nothing that led to the massacre?

You can't deny that the tendency to dominate in another man's land which is being exhibited now by taking the Oba to court is what led to such. Tell me when you come back from court if the people of Lagos will still have a good relationship with the Ibos.

Chimanda while trying to play a neutral ground at the surface, is been biased deep down. I am sorry to say but if Chimanda spent her time writing this, she wasted that time. As this just further lowered NY respect for her as an internationally recognised writer. Novel is her thing not politics.

Just imagine how shez is spreading lies about 1960s massacre. Posterity Judge you.
What lies? You make no sense. Chimanda is on point. Sometimes the truth can be bitter. She laid it out the way it is. On the issue of Biafra, Achebe has never been wrong. Achebe lived in Lagos during the pogrom. He saw, and heard what happened to Igbo first hand. To attack Achebe for stating the facts as he saw them, is disingenuous on your part. If you have bones to pick with Achebe pick it elsewhere, and not on the issue of Biafra. He had a front seat during the Biafra war theater.

The average Igbo was massacred all over the North, and in Lagos just for being Igbo. The sin of a few Igbo officers became the sin of the entire Igbo Nation or anyone that had the Igbo semblance. Analogously, one can see the same pattern in the Oba's comment. Because the Igbo States voted overwhelmingly for PDP, therefore, every Igbo in Lagos will drown in the Lagoon if PDP wins Lagos. By direct implication every Igbo irrespective of who they voted for is guilty if PDP wins. Like in 1967 where every Igbo was painted with the same brush, the Oba is doing the exact same here in 2015.

I have seen tons of comments here and else where alluding to the fact that Lagos belongs to the Yoruba. The questions of our place and citizenship in the Nigerian polity continues to rear its ugly head. What's wrong with an Igbo taking a Yoruba Oba to court for making inflammatory and inciting comments? I think we all have to be honest with ourselves. This forced colonial union is not working.

God knows if we are forced to ever seek refuge again in Igbo land. Nigeria will have to ethnic cleanse the entire Igbo Nation, anything short of that will be a birth of a new Nation. I think we are ripe for a referendum in the South East/South South States.
PoliticsGuess How Much President Obama Made In 2014? by sethken(op): 2:47am On Apr 11, 2015
By Stephen Ohlemacher, Associated Press

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, paid more than $93,000 in federal taxes last year on an adjusted gross income of more than $477,000, according to tax returns released Friday by the White House.

Their effective tax rate was 19.6%, the returns show.

The Obamas lowered their 2014 tax bill by claiming nearly $160,000 in itemized deductions, including $70,712 in charitable donations to 33 different charities. Altogether, they donated nearly 15% of their income.

The largest was a $22,012 donation to the Fisher House Foundation, which supports military families. They also donated $5,000 to Sidwell Friends School, the exclusive private school where daughters Malia and Sasha are enrolled.

The 38-page document, which includes the couple’s Illinois state income tax return, shows the president made nearly $395,000 in wages. The couple also reported making $94,889 from the sale of Obama’s best-selling books. That’s down from more than $116,000 the year before.

Obama received $51,167 from Random House and $43,722 from Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.

The White House released the Obamas’ tax returns ahead of the filing deadline Wednesday.

The Obamas are getting a tax refund of $20,641. They could have received an additional $5,000 but opted to apply that amount to their 2015 tax bill.

The couple reported paying $22,640 in state income tax.

The White House also released the 2014 income tax returns for Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.

The Bidens paid more than $90,000 in federal taxes last year on adjusted gross income of nearly $389,000.

They paid an effective federal income tax rate of 23.3%.

The Bidens reported $7,380 in donations to charity.

Don't you have to allege a crime, prove it in a court of law before you throw someone in jail. It is not that simple. She was begged to accept the position she is currently occupying. Buhari will need her counsel. She is one of the best economist in the world.

Absolute nonsense. ND is the heart beat of Nigeria. It is within the purview of the Federal Government to ensure that the oil spill which has destroyed the means and livelihood of the ND is addressed. What is going on in the ND does not happen anywhere in the world. It is within the purview of the Federal government to ensure that the people of the ND are not let out in the ownership of oil wells. Current reports have it that 100% of the oil wells in the ND are owned by Northern/Yoruba oligarchs. That must, and has to stop. It is only equitable that persons from the ND share in the ownership of these oil wells. If Buhari fails to address this issue as previous administrations have done, I believe the ND will continue to remain volatile and Nigeria as a whole will suffer as a result.

If GEJ wanted to stay in power, he would have found a way to rig the elections. GEJ has full control of the military. The Nigerian military has been reshaped in the past five years. They are fully under his command. He is not a tyrant. He is a gentleman. Give honor to whom honor is due. He did the right thing. GEJ could have rigged the election in Benue, Kogi, and Ondo. He could have also decided to rig and win with bigger margins in Plateau and Edo. He could have also shown Jega the door two or three years ago. He didn't do any of these things. He wanted to contest, and win fair and square. He is neither a criminal, nor is he criminal minded. He appears to be kind but please don't take his kindness for weakness. He is in a position to heat up the polity, use the bully pull pit, and bring Nigeria to its knees. He chose not to. The office of the President is a powerful one. He could have truncated a lot of things but he decided to walk away with his head held up and high.

Nigeria is not the Ivory Coast. The Niger Delta has what most countries want. Russia will not hesitate to support a Niger Delta ambition especially if America is seen as supporting Nigeria. Putin came to GEJ's aide when Obama denied him weapons. We are all lucky we have a good man at the helm.
