Not true. Most snakes would try to escape into the bushes when they are discovered, though some few species are extremely aggressive.

We prefer living snakes, but we can't blame people for killing deadly snakes like the green mamba of the other day which can kill in 30 mins.

The markings on the back are said to be diamond shaped, though they can vary a bit. It is venomous but the venom isn't strong enough to kill people, though some people feel a very large specimen could kill a very young child.

It's more likely to be a West African Night Adder, aka Forest Rhombic Night Adder, Causus Maculatus which is similar and also not deadly.

Please take her to a hospital right away. Weight loss by a baby is a very bad sign. If you can afford it, and she accepts it, go back to formula.
