We really shouldn't look down on those we're calling "atutupoyoyo" because it's not their doing (or is it?)

You may right that average students might have difficulties with the English Language, but could this simply be because of their parent don't speak English to them at home? I mean, the situation for most Nigerian students is this:
- They (mostly) write English at school.
- They speak their local languages at home.

The difficulty that Nigerians have with English could be because:
- They don't read English books outside school. At all. Not even Harry Potter.
- They don't speak English outside school; instead they speak pidgin "English".
- Their teacher's don't really understand English either. For the same reasons.
(yes, this includes the English teachers!)

These are problems that can be solved in one generation, if we bring up the new generation to write and speak in English.

I have often wondered why so many of us - Christians, Muslims, even Traditionalists and people of other faiths - steadfastly believe that God is real even though it seems that there's not much clear evidence to support this belief.

- How are you able to believe in someone you've not seen?
- How are you so sure that God is just, when the world is so unjust?
- How do you know he created the world, when you were not there?
- How do you know your religion is right, when all the others claim to be right?
- How come some are willing to die to get to a heavenly city no one has seen?
- In summary, how do you know that your God is real?

Yes, I do. But once they decide to leave, there is nothing I can do to bring them back. In the past I used to make efforts to bring people back, but after my nasty experiences with Trae and Soul, I realized that once a member is not happy the best course of action is to look for new members to fill his shoes.

As long as we're constantly reaching out to new members, it is very hard for the forum to die. Those who decide to leave are only isolating themselves for nothing!

As a matter of fact, most of our actions are tightly wrapped up in our emotions whether we believe it or not. I do not believe myself to be more biased than other forum administrators. I just happen to display more emotion because the Nairaland Forum is my full time venture, therefore anyone who is troubling the forum is troubling me. It's not just business, it's very personal!

Two issues have been raised:
- The girl wants to get married in her early twenties, the guy wants to get married later.
- The girl wants to travel abroad to raise her family, the guy wants to stay here forever.

Therefore they should break up as soon as possible. The earlier, the better. They should stop decieving themselves, because their life goals are simply. Love is a feeling that can be easily recreated with another person if the right conditions are there, therefore we should never make foolish sacrifices in the name of love. This boy and girl are not a good match for marriage; they should break up as soon as possible.

The girls' dream of getting married and raising kids early is very wise. There is something called biological clock and if you miss it has a lady is becomes much, much harder to get hooked up. If your target is to get married in your early twenties you mgith end up being late by a few years and getting married by 26 or 27, which is still ok. But if you aim to get married at 27 then you might never get married - or might eventually have to settle for a husband you don't really respect.

My advice to the girl; she should go and look for a husband that fits her dreams. Better still, she should travel out in her early twenties and when she gets there look for someone nice to settle down with.

My advice to the guy: if you love her, let her go. Do you believe in God? Well, if you do I assure you that God will give you someone better to love and to cherish for life, because this one is not your own. Take the wise path and jump ship as soon as possible. Love is not meant to be painful.

At this point in the time, I'm the one that makes all the decisions concerning the Nairaland Forum. Before each decision, I consult trusted users, I consult google, and I consult US-based administrators of other forums. But at the end of the day, I'm the one who has to agonize over the decision, make the decision, and bear responsibility for the consequences!
