mrrock: 3. Seun Osewa began Nairaland with N30,000 ONLY. It wasn't his money, he borrowed it from her sister. I don't know about now but I believe his revenue while with google ads would be about $250 per day.

This is a bad lie. When I started Nairaland, my sister was a student. She certainly had no money to lend to anyone. This is a complete fabrication.

@yusuf16: I don't like your new designs. You didn't put in the same effort. Compare the old designs with the new ones & judge them yourself.

@noob-saibot: why should I join the NDA? What is the relationship between the hazard symbol and the match? Where are your other entries?

Illegible text. Can't read it clearly. If an average person can't read a line of text effortlessly, then it's not bold or sharp enough. You don't need me to tell you that!! "Smashing hits" and "click to download" are too tiny.

I think it's beautiful, but it's not clear that one can listen to the song by clicking on the ad.

@Johnthentic: Your banners are not good-looking. You just have to keep learning until you're able to design good-looking banners. Your AFCON banner is a good idea, but the way you designed it just doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. It looks like something I could design myself!!

I notice that you have only one technique for rendering text. That won't do. A professional should have more than one tool in his cabinet.

Your decision to use pictures of actual players was a smart one. However, your execution of the idea was poor. Since the ad is meant to appeal to Nigerians, I don't understand why we can't see the face of the Nigerian player. It would be ideal to use pictures of Nigerian Players whose faces can be recognized by most Nigerians, and who will actually play in the Liberia match.

What does "be part of a great thing" even mean? That's not how to convince people to join the army! The US marine picture is not appropriate because this is not a US marine recruitment ad. And I think you need to learn new text rendering methods to complement this border trick that you're using everywhere.

- Your tonto dikeh ad is better, but the border is still too light. I think you should think about making Tonto Dikeh's face more natural.
- I do not appreciate your refusal to improve the programming ad by including an image or photo to attract people to it.
- Your entry cannot be accepted since you submitted only two ads out of the required 5.

@sisqology: Your images are deformed (wrong aspect ratio). Borders are too light or non-existent. Text is poorly rendered and deformed. Poor effort!

@lil pervert: it's almost as if you can't be bothered to read the existing reviews. that's a shame.
- Some of your borders are not single pixel and some are too light.
- Your text is generally fuzzy, especially at small sizes. That's not acceptable. Text must be razor-sharp. I have already explained how to get sharp text using GIMP or Photoshop.
- Your NDA ad includes only the logo, but the problem is that the logo is only meaningful to people who have already joined the NDA. Since the goal of the ad is to attract people to join the NDA, the logo does not do the job. I have said this before.
- The concept for your Tonto Dike Ad is decent, but the execution is poor. The color chosen is not legible and the layout isn't perfect.
- The Nigeria vs Liberia ad has a unique concept, but it's marred by poorly rendered text and poor composition.
- The Programmer Ad is also marred by poorly rendered text. In addition to that, you did not include any image to draw more attention to it.
- 50% Your GUS ad is lifted from the official website. I cannot give you points for that. The border is also too light.

I was just being honest; I'm sorry you were offended by that.

My point is that, if you print a copy of the logo and ask people on the streets if it means anything to them, you will find that they don't even know what it's about. Whereas, if you show them a picture of our honourable military men and women at work, they'll understand it. In marketing, what matters is not what means something to you but what means something to the people you want to reach.

@redcliff: Yes, your work is now in compliance with the rules, except for your beautiful and well composed NDA ad, which still has a light border.

- You're supposed to submit 154 by 95 pixel PNG images. This submission format is unacceptable.
- Your ads don't have distinct, single pixel borders. Your ads have none. This is unacceptable.
- Your NDA Ad looks nice, but I don't understand the message.
- Your Tonto Dike Ad looks brilliant and original, but you only promoted one song.
- Your football match ad is really nice, but the text is too fuzzy.
- Your programming ad doesn't give an average person any reason to learn programming.
- Not a fan of your Gulder Ultimate Search ad, either. Read my other reviews!
