Frosti: Okay, lets go there.

Seun, images do help to tell a story, hope it is allowed to use them?

##opens Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator##

You're strongly encouraged to use images as much as possible but the images must always be related to what you're promoting.

sisqology: Na wah o... And everything must be done?

We've reduced the number of required banners from 9 to 5. Don't forget that we required 4 ads the last time, so it's just one more this time.

suwailad: I'm wondering why Seun accepts low quality adverts and low quality content sites like one advertising a free report 100 ways to make money. just check out the end site http://wealthhealthmix.com/free-report. hey whats that? you easily ban topics like this here in a heartbeat but with money you accept and you dont even consider if it is worthy

We care about quality of the products being advertised on Nairaland. So of course,I visited the site and subscribed to the updates. Most of the information there made sense to me, and that's why I accepted it. I care about the true nature of things and not just what they appear to be.

like that lottery advert.

I have mixed feelings about allowing lotteries and betting sites, but I think they serve as a valid form of entertainment for many people.

See: Results Of The Second Nairaland Ad Design Contest

Dear All,

We've decided to launch a second banner ad design contest to increase the quality and effectiveness of Nairaland Ads.

Contestants are required to design one original and compelling banner ad for each of the following products/services/pages:
* Tonto Dike's songs: Hi and iTzova (link) - to encourage people to listen to the songs.
* Nigeria vs Liberia Match (link) - to encourage people to watch the upcoming match
* National Defence Academy Recruitment (link) - to encourage people to apply.
* Gulder Ultimate Search Season 9 (link) - to encourage more people to watch the show on TV.
* The Programming Section of Nairaland (link) - to encourage people to go there to learn programming.

Rules:
* The banner adverts must be submitted as separate 154 by 95 pixel, full colour, uncompressed .PNG file attachments.
* There must be a distinguishable single pixel border around the ad. It can be any colour, but not too light. Dark is better.
* If you use pictures or graphic images, they must be obviously related to the product/service that's being advertised.
* If you use pictures of people in your ads, the pictures must feature people that look like Nigerians (i.e. blacks)
* Your text must be razor sharp and your images should be sharp and not distorted. Don't use Coreldraw or Adobe Illustrator for text.
* You must also submit your name, website, phone number, your price for designing ads, and the software(s) you used to make the ads.
* You must have access to a Nigerian Bank account through which Nigerian customers can pay you for your services.
* You must read my tips

Prize:
The contestant with the best entries will get free ad space worth 60,000 naira (Plan A, B, or C) or 50,000 naira in cash.
We will also post all decent designs that comply with the rules on a single thread so advertisers can pick designers to work with.

Amusing.

ogzille: Since the introduction of Nairaland ads, I have noticed the poor quality ads being showcased on Nairaland! (design wise)

That's an unfair generalization. Some of the ads are great and some of the ads are not so great. Some designs are awesome and some are basic. Such is life!

This is amazing as Seun has gone the extra mile to showcase some good advert designers here on Nairaland.

An astute observation, I must say.

Is it that business owners cannot spare few thousands of naira to get good advert designs? or it does not really matter if the ad is well designed? or can't they reach good advert designers?

This is annoying generalization because every advertiser is different. Some are willing to pay for good ads, others not. Sometimes designers are inconsistent. Every situation is different so you shouldn't generalize.

What is the problem?

Can you point out the specific ads that are ugly in your opinion? I would really appreciate that. I can't do much with generalized complaints.

Send me a link to the thread you're talking about.

4llerbuntu: i still do not get why seun will just not pay for a tapatalk plugin, his ads will still make money

Earlier, we were using SMF 1.0 and tapatalk only supported SMF 1.1 & 2.0. Now, we don't use SMF anymore. There's no plugin for our software.

manmustwac: Like i said to make sure that both sides of the scales remain equally balanced. Meaning that you atheists will not complain that you're being unfairly treated and persecuted like what Maclatunji is doing in the Islamic section

If your moderation is biased against any religion in any way, you will have to answer to me. We don't condone biased moderating. Thanks.

Daresh: Men have always been stupid, nothing new in that. The slightest excuse sends them to another womans arms. Will I deprive my child or kill myself for them? HELL NO!!

Why marry a silly man?

@mufasa: Are you able to open other pages apart from the home page e.g. www.nairaland.com/topics/15 on those browsers?

mufasa: Sorta have issues opening Nairaland.com on a few browsers (dolphin and chrome) on my phone.

It just shows a blank page.

It works on the Opera and the native Web browser.

I tried clearing cache, rebooting, re installing them browsers. Nairaland.com was working fine initially as Dolphin was my default for a long while.

I'm running CM10 on a SG 3.

Does Nairaland.com work in any forum app eg Tapatalk or Forum Runner?

No, but let's try to figure out why it's not working on those browsers. What's your ISP?

222Martins: If Nairaland wants to catch up, Seun just needs to do three things. Make Nairaland better, incorporate Nairaland and bring in investors. It's as simple as that.

Your really think catching up with Facebook is that simple? Companies do fail, especially when they invest in impossible dreams.

honeypie311: Personally, i believe that corpse could have been dumped in d morgue if d people around dat vicinity are concerned & cooperative Nigerians.

Since you were so concerned, why couldn't you dump the body in the morgue yourself? Aren't you a "concerned and cooperative Nigerian"?

19naia: also in 1988 i remeber on the hiway out side boarding shcool compound,a lady had been hit and killed by car and we would escape the compound on free time to go and see the body, and for almost a week she lay there before being removed....How long will it take for these things to change??

Things will change when people like you start doing something about it instead of complaining that other people did not do anything.

@afam4eva: I'm not seeking to be a celebrity. I thought that was clear, but it seems you didn't get it.

@kosalabaro. I'm feel really flattered that you think so highly of me. I appreciate this very much. I think celebrity comes to those who seek it.

good idea.

HAppi Birthday!

bennyraz: Obama is no Muslim all those talks about him being one were mere conspiracy theories.. The question still stands?? can a Known, renowned Muslim be an American President

No. Not for a very long time. If Americans would vote against a Christian because someone said maybe he was a closet muslim, a muslim candidate simply can't win.

This is unfortunate. About 5 months ago he was in need of a kidney transplant:

It seems many of your fans are not aware of your illness; when did it start?

For over a year now, I’ve been in a bad state of health. The problem is kidney problem; holistic kidney problem. I don’t know how it affects the body. But they said it affects the digestive organs or system. God has been helping me to survive; because according to the doctor, my two kidneys have failed, so what is keeping me alive must be God; prayer of the saints; that’s how I feel.

What exactly did the doctor say after the diagnosis?

He said all that I will require is kidney transplant. l haven’t raised enough money for a transplant and the doctor said it will be in India.

Did he give you an idea of the possible cost?

He said it will cost up to N10 million. So I am looking for people who will help me weather the storm.

All of these stories are all probably false, you know. You should check each story on Wikipedia or Google to find out whether it is true or not.

pc guru: Seun thanks for answering i found a Syntax mod for smf, the link is here, i hope it doesn't bring any vulnerability, http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2925

Thanks. Unfortunately, we don't use SMF.

Dear Esteemed Webmasters,

I am sorry that I failed to address this issue properly earlier. I have attempted to fix the phantom bracket smiley problem with no luck. There is nothing in the code that should lead to that result. It's indeed a modern mystery. However, I will continue to investigate the issue whenever I'm free. Meanwhile, I will like advice programmers to include a space between quotes and right brackets.

I'm very sorry about this.

I have posted code many times, and the
tag has been good enough every time. Sure there's a minor rendering bug, and I have checked the code trying to figure out what's responsible for the rendering bug, with no luck. The programmers I hired could not figure it out either. 99.99% of Nairalanders are not affected at all, and those 3 Nairalanders affected can avoid it very easily.

If you think this is important, why not send me an implementation I can plug in?

You got a response.
