ndu_chucks: Good point, but I don't believe that he is the only one who can perform. There are quite a few people who can actually do better than he has done without the baggage of conflicts. Given that he owns a generation plant and other power related assets, a bad cloud and distraction may mar his tenure. For many decades we have had bad performers, so I'm not confident about our chances of getting a good performer this time. We could just ask him to sell the power-related assets; they are useless anyway if the power sector reforms are derailed by a less competent successor. |
ndu_chucks: Whether the resignation was voluntary or not, is not the issue. The issue is that he resigned or was forced to resign because of a conflict of interest which he was aware of but did not properly safeguard. If he had taken appropriate actions to deal with the conflicts of interest before they affected his job, he would have remained a minister today. That to me, is failure. He does not deserve a second chance, he blew his chance. If we know that the power sector will do better under the Professor than it will under someone else, we should give him another chance. Other considerations are not so relevant. We are not punishing the professor for his mistake; we're punishing the country, and that's not right. |
You won, so you should be happy. I wanted to send something to every mod, but the logistics have discouraged me. |
all4naija: You are just too afraid of changes! To be contented is not the way to go in this modern way. The world will leave you behind! Please, stop asking for less in this present generation because there is no beauty in simplicity without progress!Change is not what they are afraid of. They are afraid that a more graphical site will perform awfully on our abysmal Internet/mobile networks. |
Virgo was upset because the super-moderator posted other stories after she posted hers, so she decided to boycott Nairaland. You can check her story blog for updates. |
Noctis: How sad is it that i'm on nairaland on christmas day?not particularly sad, in my opinion. I'm in the same boat! |
semid4lyfe: Nairaland Admin have deemed it fit for all sectional awards to end today.....23 December, 2012....2259hours UTC.The decision was made by mukina2. I merely agreed to it. |
Frosti: Seun, why dark blue?Blue is my favourite colour, but I don't enjoy holidays much, hence the darkness. |
dark blue. |
debosky: Hehehehehe. . . . . I did not forsake nairaland. I continue to engage with the community, but on my own terms.I posted a chat between the two of us in the private moderator forum. It happened to include your name. That's the "violation of privacy". ![]() I don't hate you, I've simply recognised your petty smallmindedness and cowardice and decided to let you do your own thing. I wish you well - I hope others are more understanding of your flaws. You've come out of the shadows to kick me while you think I'm down. That's the definition of hatred. Those feigning surprise should not do so - this is the true nature of the autocratic owner. If I'm autocratic, why did I have to ask the mods to remove the hall of shame threads? Why didn't I just do it without consultation? |
Super1759: don't tell me that mukina2 does all these for free.No. She used to, though. |
debosky: I'm not surprised. . . . . Seun's crassness and poorly thought out and often irrational behaviour is why I quit all those years ago. I can't say I've regretted it - obviously he hasn't learned much from the previous lessons.Actually, Nairaland has been doing very well in your absence. You should not have forsaken the entire community out of hatred for one person. |
Thread moved to politics section. |
Dear Jarus & OAM4J, I hereby apologize for not consulting you before going public. Best Regards, Seun Osewa. |
afam4eva: God Bless you Seun. It's a shame indeed.Thanks. mosun_ade: God bless you Seun. Try to end any thread that has to do with hall of fame, best poster, best moderator, best this, best that. Thanks, but I think the positive award threads are alright. It's usually nice to praise people who have done good things. Aigbofa: Anyway it's your prerogative, but bear in mind that the book he wrote is also divisive. Two wrongs do not make a right. If his book was divisive, we should not compound the problem by promoting more division with the hall of shame. k2039: I just don't understand why Seun had to bow to the pressure. If Pa Awolowo or Wole Soyinka or Tai Solarin or General Buhari had been selected for the hall of shame, the outcry would have been equally great. Shaming widely respected people for one mistake or the other is simply not constructive. seanet02: Seun stop looking for cheap popularity. When Goodluck was there you said nothing, what is good for Goodluck is also good for AchebeI voted for GEJ during the last election. However, I was not concerned because by his selection for the hall of shame because it was less divisive. Katsumoto: If a man you admired and respected killed your dear mother, would you continue to love and respect him?As far as I can tell, Professor Chinua Achebe hasn't killed anyone. He merely wrote a controversial book. Please correct me if I'm wrong! |
Prof Corruption: Seun, what's more shameful than gagging the opinions of majority of Nairalanders who nominated him?The fact that he got the most votes does not imply that Achebe haters are in the majority. Suppose 60% of Nairalanders, like me, support Chinua Achebe and think he doesn't deserve to be on the Hall of Shame, while just 40% think he deserves it. Because of the way voting works, Achebe's supporters won't have any way of influencing the results of the contest, even though they are in the majority. They may complain, but their complaints won't be counted, even though they are in the majority. In other words, the hall of shame system is biased towards negativity and hatred, even when it's held by a minority of members. And that's why the hall of shame should be terminated asap. To those saying Chinua Achebe deserves to be on the Hall of Shame, let me ask you this: Why not Boko Haram? Why not the ALUU community? |
Dear Nairalanders A lot of people don't know this, but I'm not directly involved in the Nairaland end of year award process. So, like many of you, I was shocked and appalled when I saw Chinua Achebe's name on the Politics section Hall of Shame contest. I think this unacceptable development demonstrates the fact that the Politics Section Hall of Shame is not a constructive idea. I hereby call on the Politics section moderators, Jarus and OAM4j, to end the divisive Hall of Shame contest and delete all related threads. Thank you. My apology: https://www.nairaland.com/1141760/apology-jarus-oam4j |
17 people voted for debrief08, and Tgirl4real disregarded their votes. I think this is unfair to all concerned. It's undemocratic. |

how large are the pics? |
Clearly she doesn't want you to do it, but she does not trust you to keep it in your pants, so she's urging you to at least avoid getting anyone pregnant, or disgracing her by flaunting your 'conquests' in public. If you want her to trust you, you should prove yourself trustworthy by not doing it. Thank you. |
Send me a PM. |
honeychild: and how is that different from me? I choose to put my faith in the Bible's creation account because quite frankly it makes the most sense to me....but I am labeled 'ignorant'. You choose to put your faith in the 'educated' guesses of fallible humans and you are 'enlightened' and 'logical'.I didn't choose to put my faith in evolution. I chose to believe what makes the most sense and fits the available evidence, most accurately. On the issue of the origin of species, that happens to be evolution. If someone develops a theory that better explains the evidence tomorrow, we will switch to it immediately. Science is not dogmatic. Good scientists are committed only to the truth; they do not swear allegiance to evolution or any other theory. They are only committed to discovering the truths of the universe, as revealed by evidence and sound logic. turnstoner: An 'atheist' that agrees with the world view of Christians is not an atheist, he is confused!I don't agree with their worldview. I'm trying to make it clear that science is not merely a dogmatic worldview that happens to be different from the one they have chosen to believe. If there was a way to prove the existence of God or the truthfulness of Christianity beyond reasonable doubt, every scientist would believe in God. I think what we need religious people to do is not to accept evolution per se, but to cast aside unproven dogmas and approach the world with open minds and sound judgement. |
Try renaming those pics to teetwo1.jpg, etc. |
