alexola20: I think Oga Seun is more like a d.ic.k-tator with many rules. For my papa sake, this is just internet forum, yesterday was garri palaver today na different tory.Maybe Seun should consider banning everyone from commenting on topics/threads on nairaland. So that we can just come here, read and pass without giving our own opinions on matters that matters.I am personally committed to making sure Nairaland serves as a platform where every Nigerian can speak his/her mind and be heard. I'm not a dictator by nature. I don't look forward to controlling people or telling them what to say. But as a commercial site, there are certain standards imposed on us by our various partners. |
ujchief: What? I reported some tribe bashing thread to ur mods at the complaint thread of the Politics section yet nothing was done! Do u mean we should ignore the complaint thread and make our complains here?I'm sure the moderator will do something about the thread soon. If not, send me a pm. |
yam: i thin the issue is dis there should be proper guidelines on the do and dont on the site which should be stated clearly and obvious before anybody intend to be a member then he/she knows clearly what the site is all about.Good idea. We're actually working on a new set of rules and regulations, but I'm not satisfied with what we have so far. |
Mavor: So is nairaland now a religious site or is your pastor disturbing you? Why does free speech have to be censored? The old nairaland doesn't use to be so restrictive and suffocating. I wonder where you are getting these new ideas from. Foreign discussion sites like nairaland which exists in free societies are not like this. As far as I am concerned, if someone comes here and sees something he or she doesn't like, then the person should get the fu<k out. Free society. No one forced you to come here. Hope the popularity of your site is not getting to you bro. If I come here and find out that I can't have an adult discussion or I must be chaperoned, I go just waka. Pure and simple. You will start losing members one by one as a result. Pornographic pictures I can understand, not free speech man. Cheers.Personally, I am a very liberal person. I hate censorship. However, there is a factor I can't discuss openly pushing us to do this. |
ganye1: Is there no rule against insulting tribes and religions of others? Some of the comments go as far as advocating genocide against some ethnic groups and adherents of other religions. As I am new on NL are this type of comments acceptable or they are not acceptable but there is nothing that can be done to stop them?Posts advocating genocide are not allowed. They should be reported by members and removed instantly by moderators. |
Maleeq: The nifty, but oft-ignored "Report" link on every post should suffice for reporting such posts!Sure, but this is a special experiment and up to this point, it has failed completely!! |
akereconfi: ....without Tribal sentiments.....I see a dull n boring Nairaland. That's another interesting point of view. Thanks for sharing it! Does anyone else agree with this? |
berem: So Seun you no fit wish Nairalanders happy new month abi? Abi you no know say today na september 1st? What's the meaning of what you wrote? Pls break it down abeg!Happy New Month!!! |
akereconfi: What about Satelite PicturesPlease report those too. We have given the mods a ban-on-sight order. |
Techwriter: What about unauthenticated stories that make front page? Sometimes before the subject knows about it, the damage is already done. I advocate every post making front page should have an authentic link because of the danger of a damaged reputation to a person or company. We are careful to mark unauthenticated stories as rumours, so people can either confirm or deny them. We are not journalists. |
Acidosis: Actually I got my own cake of the ban on romance section for "derailing several threads" says sexkillz. And ban expires 3rd sept. 2012.I'm sorry that sexkillz had to ban you. I wish there was some other way. |
ooseven: What about ethnic bias?? Can we report them here as well? No, but we will address that soon. |
@hoodboy: I apologize for acting in a way that can be construed as snobbish and disrespectful, but I can't keep up. I'm sorry. Quite a few people seem to have an issue with ethnic comments. I'll deal with that later. Thanks for pointing my attention to that. |
Dear Nairalanders, If you come across any public page on Nairaland with dirty words/pictures or discussing sex or sexual body parts, or links to bad sites, please post a link to the page on this thread so it can be cleaned immediately by a moderator. Thanks a million! This is a special experiment. |
You will not be banned for posting about garri on this garri thread. |
E_monkey: I was assuming that the person said thank you as well as God bless you.If you helped an idol worshipper who KNOWS you are 'born-again', and he/she still says "may Ogun and Obatala bless you?" would you like it? |
E_monkey: What would you rather have them say?"Thank you"? |
deols: I like the creativity that goes with the price(s) of garri. They make me laugh and why are we on Nl if not for the fun path of it.When it first started, it was fun, but it's been taken much too far, so we have no option but to end it before people start leaving NL. |
solidbroda: If nah so yahoo and fcbook dey ban people without warningIs my post on this thread not a warning? What more warning do you need? I have solemnly promised that people will be banned! Otherwise, anyone who posts any message that is remotely divergent from the topic of a thread should be banned.Offtopic posts are not allowed. |
Yes, please, It's wrong to ask about the price of garri on a thread that has nothing to do with garri. Doing so will earn you a ban. Thanks for your kind cooperation. |
cogitoErgo: people will want what they want anywhere in the world! but what if the government through the BRT staff insist on and control the number of passengers entring the buses? The traffic situation will deteriorate since we'll need to double the number of buses on the road to carry the same number of people. |
hischoice: No Seun, it is not about what the common man wants, it is about the February 2007 promise of the Lagos State Governor...Lagos BRT - "delivering a high level of convenience in public transport”. Operators have thrown that to the wind. It is now money first (only!).For the average Lagosian, it's more "convenient" to endure a crowded bus than to pay a higher fare. That's why most buses are crowded. I'm saying that the reason why this strategy pays better is because most people would rather pay less than enjoy more physical conveneince. |
- the common man prefers cheaper fares to comfort. - most people would rather stand in a bus than be stranded at a bus stop. |
#LUTH EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL NOW!! TNX EVERYONE! FYI ☞ NO LIFE WAS LOST!! GOD BLESS cc @Gidi_Traffic https://twitter.com/ehival/status/241256482069430274 |
Odunnu: OMG!What would have caused this?Probably oxygen tanks. They are used for weak patients who have difficulty breathing on their own. I'm just guessing anyway. |
https://p.twimg.com/A1kWWIUCYAEa3WI.jpg There is a serious fire outbreak at the Lagos university Teaching Hospital in Lagos. [s]Several people including sick children are reportedly trapped in the inferno according to Nigerian emergency officials.[/s]http://saharareporters.com/news-page/fire-raging-lagos-university-teaching-hospital-lagos Update: Some reports on Twitter suggest that the fire is now under control: https://twitter.com/ehival/status/241256482069430274 |
gidiMonsta: I experience this a lot like 3ce a week sef, but once you navigate to another page it usualy corrects itself, hope Seun and his team find a way to resolve this as soon as possible before baby hackers are tempted to hone their exploitation skills on Naija's most important forum. If you experience it again, please report it here. We've added a directive that should prevent the problem from happening. |
