Is it still slow? |
Hmmm. Really? |
Mark Zuckerberg is ambitious and growth-oriented (doesn't care much about profit). Mark Zuckerberg is healthy and fit. Mark Zuckerberg is based in Silicon Valley, surrounded by great role models, world-class talent, and eager investors. |
buzugee: can you explain this statementProbably the ban on importation of cement, which makes cement more expensive in Nigeria, which makes home construction more expensive. |
Dual Core: Create yours here:It's in the joke section, if you haven't noticed. I moved it here myself. People should expect Joke section threads to be jokes. |
Someone created a Part 3 Thread, so I'll just link to it now: https://www.nairaland.com/1007570/unilag-2012-2013-post-utme |
Most people would go for the Toyota Camry. |
Fixed? |
Sorry. Next time you post an informative thread, send mukina2 a PM. |
Odunnu: While I direct this to my Boss, i'd advice you do same.If there are complaints that need my attention, you as a mod should forward them to me. |
Excelboi: now it's an hard task to get your blog approved without a domain name and quality content. If you don't have quality content, you won't make much from Adsense, so it makes sense for them not to approve your account. |
Start by visiting her. Then if she has any other needs, you can take it from there. |
Blugreen:The moderators and the antispam bot are active because Nairaland is popular and some people keep trying to abuse it! |
Xatax is a test account. Oop. Sorry about this confusion. |
We can't even be sure that he's a Nigerian. What's his name? What's his father's name? What currency is that? |
I don't understand why people choose to be committed to unpleasant things. Don't make babies if the father isn't behaving. |
shinethelight: Pls i have a friend who does not remember his user name on Nairaland but remembers his password. What can he dohe can sign in with his email address instead of his username |
rastamouse: I am shocked at most of the replies here. I develop my applications using my Aspire One Acer netbook. I just deployed a complex production manager application to a client. I have SQL 2008, VS 2008, VS 2005 and SQL 2000 all installed on that "tiny" machine and it works fine for me!I tried a Lenovo netbook once, but after I got tired of waiting for ages for every little thing, I got a real laptop. Big relief! |
Get at least 4gb of RAM and a real processor (e.g. Core 2 Duo and above). A high resolution screen is tremendously helpful too. |
Resolve the issues completely. Don't push them under the carpet. And do your duty heh. |

They've invested a lot in the Dealfish brand. Discarding it is a mistake. Change the team, keep the brand. |
False |
This is a joke based on the Youtube article. I have no interest in your real name. |
Look for a business idea that doesn't require much investment. |
the last time I checked the majority of Nigerians supported the move except people like you. That's simply not true. The average Nigerian does not want the price of food to go up. The masses would only support such ideas to the extent that they are ignorant of the costs, namely, that such a ban will cause the price of rice and other staples to go up. Once they are informed, they won't support it. |
CHESSBOARD: Abeg make our Anambra Rice plant begin to work make i venture into Rice plantation joYou can venture into it right away. What's stopping you? Competition? |
Nobody wants car selling on the forum, so your agreement isn't required, but it's the duty of the mods to police it. |
pleep: You guys are fools and you don't know anything about economics. How many people can the industry possibly employ? Even if rice production can employ 1% of Nigerians (160,000 people), which is unlikely because large scale mechanised agriculture does not require a lot of workers, in essence you're punishing 160 million Nigerians with expensive food in order to give jobs to less than 1% of the population. Just like we are all currently being punished with expensive accommodation nationwide to benefit the shareholders of Dangote Cement. Punishing the majority to benefit a minority is very undemocratic. 2. It lowers dependence on foreign countries... would u like Nigeria to get embargoed an we all starve? Can you name a single occasion when the citizens of a democratic country were starved because of a food embargo? Such embargoes simply don't happen. Famine and food shortages only occur in the modern world when importation is banned and local production is unable to meet demand due to factors like drought. Food importation provides weather insurance, which is much more important in real life. 3. It keeps money in the economy, and in the country.Nonsense. We can eat rice, but can we eat the money? What is money good for if you can't buy what you need with it? An importation LovePeddler country like Nigeria will never succeed until we learn to be self sufficient, we need to provide for ourselves. That is the key to economic success. The federal governments approach is a little heavy handed, (i would prefer tariffs on foreign rice) but it is a huge step in the right directionThere is no self-sufficient country in the world. Exporters depend on importers and importers depend on exporters. When countries depend on each other for various things, that's good for the world because it promotes peace. Don't you like a peaceful world? |
Billyonaire: Rice Importation has to be stopped in generality. Why? Don't you like cheap food? Would you like to live in a country where only the rich can afford to buy rice? What nation is this, no body embraces their own food. The foreign food we eat has been doctored by the "superior race", cursing a lot fertility issues and reduction in life expectancy. This is top secret.Really? And you posted it on a public forum? Ok, what stops them from hiring agents to "contaminate" our local foods? Now going back to our basics, what country imports food for the Citizen when they have vast agricultural landmass. The decision of whether to import or not import should be left to Nigerians. If you want to buy cheap imported rice, you should be free to do so. And if you prefer to eat yams every day, even when they are out of season and therefore expensive, you should be free to do so. But the government should not prevent me from buying cheap rice. The only beneficiaries of such policies are the handful of people involved in agriculture. I suspect that there are many factors responsible for our reliance on imported food. If those factors are resolved, the government won't need to ban anything. On the other hand, if they are not resolved, then an import ban would cause a lot of pain. If the government wants to help, let them find a way to do it without taking away our freedom to import cheap food. |
If, as an investor, I felt the Oando stock was cheap, I would sell all my possessions and use the money to buy as much as possible. After running out of money, I would remain quiet, in order to be able to buy more shares at the low price every time I get my salary. I may also recommend the stock to my family and very close friends, but I would ask them to be discreet about it. However, there's one thing I won't do: I won't ask the press to urge people I don't know to buy the shares, because if they do, then the share price will go up and I will no longer be able to buy it at the cheap price. When a stranger urges you to invest in a wonderful stock, you should be very suspicious about the stranger's motives. |
This is the kind of Economic idiocy that leads to food shortages and famine all over Africa. The effect of restricting importation of a staple food is that the cost of food will go up. This makes life more difficult for the poor. What kind of devil wants that to happen? Some people who would can currently afford just enough food to avoid starvation will have to die when the importation of rice is banned. For what? ![]() |

Why are nairaland "moderators" too active? What is the motivating factor behind it?
