Nairaland GeneralRe: Is Nairaland Really A Gossip Site? by Seun(mod): 12:00pm On Jun 10, 2008
The whole idea of a discussion forum is to allow everybody to have their say. And it is a good thing.
HealthRe: Water Shortage: How Often Should I Flush The Toilet? by Seun(mod): 7:36pm On Jun 09, 2008
Holding back your poop won't help. You should just flush as often as you can.

Your posts could all be fabrications, since you did not list your sources.
FoodRe: Guys Of The Board: Can You Cook? by Seun(mod): 4:14pm On Jun 08, 2008
I don't like to cook. It is boring and time-consuming. I would happily hire a cook so I can spend more time on something more mentally stimulating. I have no problem with people who love cooking.
CrimeRe: Mom Slashes Baby's Throat With Razor Blade! by Seun(mod): 3:33pm On Jun 08, 2008
Baby killing by young mothers is not as rare as one might think. They don't have to use razor blades.
TV/MoviesRe: My Girlfriend Wants To Become An Actress! by Seun(mod): 1:08pm On Jun 08, 2008
First, she should read this:
www.craftyscreenwriting.com/FAQ.html#star
www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-99377.0.html

If she still wants to act, then she should get some training and start attending auditions, I guess.
TV/MoviesRe: Hooked On Bollywood: Can't Believe It by Seun(mod): 8:13pm On Jun 06, 2008
Bollywood movies are just like Nollywood movies, but with music and better costumes, locations, make-up.

TV/MoviesRe: What Nollywood Films Are Known For? by Seun(mod): 1:32am On Jun 06, 2008
If you read my post, it's obvious I am on the side of Nollywood. I even asked for positive comments only.
You're attacking my solely because I have a Yoruba name. Isn't "Omotola Jolade" also a Yoruba name?
TV/MoviesRe: Developing My Little Super Hero Movie by Seun(mod): 1:19am On Jun 06, 2008
Hmm, I'm transparent simply because I'm trying to be. I'm not trying to impress anyone at this point.

I jumped the first part of your post, and I won't delete it. Maybe I'm dumb as you say, but I doubt it.

I learnt a lot from this project. I got to understand my passions and limits (as a writer) better.

About not being cut out for this, I already suspect that. But don't feel sorry for me! wink

If there's nobody involved in a project but myself, I see no shame in shutting it down midway.

I'm not afraid of failure, but I'm fear bankruptcy. At least the superhero movie didn't drive me into debt!

The experience alone is worth the time I invested in this project. I will never repeat certain mistakes.

Life is to short not to be able to express one's true thoughts out of the need to impress people.

I just don't feel so comfortable investing a lot in a product that people aren't actively demanding.

The project is dead. Nothing you say can make it more dead than it already is. You've won!

I like controversial topics.
RomanceRe: What Can You Say? by Seun(mod): 7:20pm On Jun 05, 2008
I would just reason with her that taking her life is selfish.
She is depressed because of rejection and your solution is accusation? That is why I say don't say anything. Most people are not capable of saying anything helpful to a hurting person. That's why we have trained professionals like shrinks. Most of the things you might want to say won't help one bit.

Christianity EtcRe: Men And Their Indecent Dressing by Seun(mod): 4:34pm On Jun 05, 2008
Why are men insisting that ladies are not affected by nude men. How would you know? huh
TV/MoviesRe: Developing My Little Super Hero Movie by Seun(mod): 4:23pm On Jun 05, 2008
Why shouldn't I be scared of pouring all my hard-earned savings into the bank account of an overpaid opportunist who is going to squander it on buying a new jeep, expensive clothes, fornicating & fathering children out of wedlock, etc? When I haven't bought such things for myself? Nollywood stars are free to live their lives the way they please, but not necessarily with my money.

I spent months shopping for my laptop just to save about 30,000 naira. Now I'm expected to give a bunch of local stars up to thirty times that amount for 5 days of work? Are you kidding me? Are they going to give me a refund if their supposed star power doesn't cause my movie to turn a profit? I can deal with actors, but I can't deal with overpaid movie stars. I want to invest in real things and not illusions.
TV/MoviesRe: Making Documentary Films by Seun(mod): 12:23pm On Jun 05, 2008
Wow, excellent post. Thanks.

depending on the subject matter, there are a LOT of people who have to get paid . . . a lot of expenses.

do you have "experts" commenting upon various scenarios depicted in the film? you gotta pay them.

do you make use of archival footage, photos and music? you gotta pay to license that.

do you have to travel significantly to pursue your story? that shit ain't free.

voice-over talent? you pay.
You're right, documentaries are cheaper to make but not exactly free.

if you like documentaries, then it would probably be rewarding for you.
I love Michael Moore style documentaries for the humor and human drama. I love documentaries that are investigative rather than didactic. I loved the 'Crocodile Hunter' documentaries because the host exposed himself to life-threatening situations. Too bad he eventually died.

I like 'story' documentaries: "Someone has a real life problem. How is she going to solve it?" I like documentaries that are designed to entertain. Fahrenheit 9/11, for instance could have been, like most documentaries, a dry recap of the events of 9/11 and the resulting wars. But it was really about one man's dislike for everything GW Bush has done in his life, and that's what made it engaging for me.

But I find the average documentary boring. Why should I care about how wild animals live? Why should I have to watch a 90 minute video for information I could have gotten in 5 minutes from Google and Wikipedia? Why sit through a documentary on a depressing social issue if there's no humor or hope to lighten the burden? These are questions I want to ask some documentary filmmakers.
TV/MoviesRe: Developing My Little Super Hero Movie by Seun(mod): 11:17am On Jun 05, 2008
Yeah. It's primarily because I don't think I can sell 10,000 copies of the movie without stars.
And while I love actors, I have a really big problem with celebrities and how they have to live.

Christianity EtcRe: Is Physical Abuse Enough To Get A Divorce As A Born Again Christian? by Seun(mod): 9:22pm On May 27, 2008
If you are abused, turn your left cheek. When you die, you will to go heaven.
And you will die. Beaten to death as a result of your fervent and godly stupidity.
Art, Graphics & VideoRe: Camcorders You Would Like To Own? by Seun(mod): 6:39pm On May 26, 2008
Another Camcorder I'm interested in is the Sony EX1. The 1080p images are to die for and unlike most HD camcorders it works well in low light due to its 1/2 inch CMOS sensor. It records to high bitrate MPEG2. It also costs about $7,000, which means only those making movies for cinema projection need bother.
Car TalkRe: Stoppage Of Okada Riders In Port Harcourt: Cool? by Seun(mod): 6:25pm On May 26, 2008
Yes, this is the way forward for this country. We must take jobs away from the okada men in Niger Delta Area so that they can go into armed robbery, militancy and kidnapping. A standing ovation for the Port Harcourt government.
