Let them make movies with good storylines at least. You don't need billions for that.
HealthRe: How Do You Cure Depression? by Seun(mod): 10:35pm On May 25, 2008
Seun seems to be a bit on edge these days
I wrote that 2 years ago. It's ridiculous that people who know nothing about depression are advising against drugs that can help people who actually have to live with the problem. Drugs that can make you a productive member of society once again.

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Soldiers Killed In Crash(100 Soldiers Died) by Seun(mod): 4:37pm On May 22, 2008
May their souls RIP. However, this is not newsworthy.
Actually, it is. As many lives were lost as would be lost in a major plane crash.

How many other Nigerians die in road mishaps and are unreported?
Up to 10,000. http://www.roadsafetynigeria.com/information.html
RomanceRe: I'm Not Comfortable With My Baby's New Job - What Do I Do? by Seun(mod): 4:35pm On May 22, 2008
jennykadry:
@seun
how is air travel safer dan road travel?
About 7000-10,000 people are reported killed in road accidents each year. See:
http://www.roadsafetynigeria.com/information.html
http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/default1.php?recordID2=27%20&recordID3=79

How many people are killed in air crashes on an average year? Sometimes zero.

Your girlfriend is safer as an air hostess than as an executive going to work by road every day. Gbam.
RomanceRe: I'm Not Comfortable With My Baby's New Job - What Do I Do? by Seun(mod): 4:12pm On May 22, 2008
If you can't support your girl's dreams, you don't deserve her.
Life is too short to spend it being held back by people who claim to love you.

Every educated person knows that air travel is safer than road travel.
So what's the problem?

the problem is everyone is trying to make her decision for her,
Exactly.

did you congratulate her? the screening process is quite vigorous and you should be proud that she made it through
be happy for her first and worry about her later!
Please tell him. Teach him.

PoliticsRe: Police Bill Passes Second Reading In Senate by Seun(mod): 4:06pm On May 22, 2008
How silly. What is our regular tax supposed to fund? It will be passed on to the consumer anyway.

You can do business with untrustworthy people. You just have to keep your eyes open all the time.
TV/Movies1st Nairaland Short Film Competition by Seun(mod): 6:45pm On May 21, 2008
I hereby propose a Nairaland short film competition.
You are to make a film between 2 and 5 minutes long, including title and credits.

The theme for this edition is "one actor and a phone".
Your story should revolve around one actor talking on a phone in one location.
(No supporting actors or extras are allowed on screen)

The movie should be performed in English or properly subtitled.
You should submit your entry as a properly encoded flash video (I'll teach you how).

We will decide the winner by voting. Each contestant who submits a film gets one vote.
The winner gets to be recognized as a talented filmmaker, among other benefits.

Deadline: 6th of June. Anyone interested, or am I going to win this one easily? wink

TV/MoviesRe: Fear Grips Nollywood As Soyinka Steps In by Seun(mod): 9:57pm On May 19, 2008
He's just trying to make a movie. How is that a big deal; it may fail anyway. And where the hell is the source of this tale?

PoliticsRe: Oyo Lawmakers To Receive N20m Each by Seun(mod): 10:40am On May 17, 2008
China did it by killing all corrupt officials.
Oh shut up. Using murder to solve theft? A murderer is worse than a looter.
TV/MoviesMaking Documentary Films by Seun(mod): 6:45pm On May 16, 2008
What do you think about documentary filmmaking as an alternative to making fictional movies?

(1) It's cheaper: you don't have to pay your 'performers'.

(2) Unlike a film, you can sell a documentary to a school or library. It's 'educative'. Also,

(3) Being independent is not a problem for a documentary. It's the norm.

So is documentary film-making a more limiting art-form? Is it equally rewarding? Is it under-rated?``

FoodRe: Food Time Table by Seun(mod): 9:56am On May 16, 2008
It can be useful in a big house with lots of children, especially if the person cooking is a hired hand.
I don't understand why a new table can't be drafted for each week or meals chosen a day in advance.

TV/MoviesRe: Developing My Little Super Hero Movie by Seun(mod): 1:39pm On May 15, 2008
Hmm. An interesting way to look at things. Makes sense.

because in Nigeria there is no media machine to create hype and anticipation for movies anyway.
The confusing thing is that I have something like a mini media machine. It has as much reach as an average Nigerian newspaper, but I don't know that it can sell 10,000 copies of a movie.

if you're looking for "star power," then you cast star actors.
I seem to be facing some internal resistance in this area. The idea of devoting 50% of my budget to stars who are not sharing any of the production risk is somewhat hard to swallow.

Actually PAL is 25 frames per second and the the technique was meant to be used with photocomics.
