Maxcollins042:I hate the fact that "madness" was used as an excuse to make her act in a way that was at odds with how she had been growing as a person. Dany was my favorite character in season 1, and the Dany of Season 8 was the best Dany ever. Most forgiving, brave, friendly, etc. It's too bad. |
lilbest4:She is the queen to her allies. Jon Snow, Olenna Tyrell(RIP), Yara Greyjoy, the new Dornish prince, etc. Power exists where men think it does. In the world of this story, Dany was one of the most benevolent rulers or aspiring rulers until the moment when she started killing civilians. |
Gentlewarrior1:I disagree with you. Everything she did up to the point where the Lannister army surrendered was perfectly rational and understandable. If any King learned about the existence of someone who had a better claim to the throne, they would immediately kill that person. In season 1, Robert sent an assassin after Dany when he learned that she was pregnant because her son would have a better claim to the throne than Robert. Also, Joffery or Cersie tried to kill all the babies and children fathered by Robert as a result of his reckless whoring. Only Gendry managed to escape. Dany never tried to kill Jon, so she was better than most. When you have suffered all your life to achieve a goal, it is difficult to abandon it. |
At the beginning, Dany followed my 'advice'. She destroyed Euron's fleet, the ballistas, and the golden company, forcing the Lannisters to surrender. I was so impressed. She had mastered the use of her dragon and won the battle for Kings Landing without any civilian casualties. And then the heartbreaking horror show started. It took less than 5 minutes for me to go from "you go, girl!" to "that bitch needs to die". |
Danaerys is my favorite character at this point in the show. She has gone through so much growth as a character since season 1 that it would kill me to see her turned into a villain. She went from being a vengeful teenage widow making empty threats about fire and blood, to: - Accepting the fact that her father was a bad king, and aspiring to be much better than him. - Appointing Tyrion, whose brother killed her father, and whose father took kings landing from her father, as her hand. - Promising to help Jon to fight the army of the dead before he bent the knee and following through at great cost. - Totally forgiving Jaime, the man who killed her father, on the advice of Sansa and Jon. - Legitimising Gendry, the bastard son of King Robert, the man who killing her brother, and making him a lord. - Not killing Varys after he declared his intention to start working against her, despite threatening to burn him earlier. - Going along with Tyrion's worthless efforts to negotiate with Cersie and never punishing him even when it cost her dearly. I think that Dany's true purpose for coming to Westeros is to fight the dead, and not necessarily to be the queen, even though she is on track to be a pretty good, but not perfect, queen. At some point I would like her to return to Essos to continue her campaign against slavery. |

Aystarz:At this point, the best explanation is that he is deliberately sabotaging Dany's plans in order to save the life of his sister. He wants Cersei to live. |
PaddyX:I don't believe that Dany intends to burn innocent citizens. Dany is just a little better than Cersei, ever since she got to Westerns, everything from her has been burn, burn, burn, "I'll take my dragons to the red keep and burn everything" and Tyrion and others have to constantly talk her out of it and provide other solutions.Dany's strongest weapon is her dragon. Drogon can't shoot bullets; he can only shoot fire. This is unfortunate, but it can't be helped. All Dany can do is to be careful not to use her dragon on innocent people. She must focus her fiery wrath on people like Cersei and Euron who deserve it. I will not pretend that Dany is perfect. She has made serious mistakes in the past. As a Khaleesi, and in her campaign to liberate slaves. She was a poorly educated and inexperienced child, having spent her childhood on the run from King Robert's assassins instead of being trained to be a lady like Sansa and other girls of noble birth. As a result of this, her morality was too black and white. She did not understand shades of grey. You were either good, and deserving of protection, or evil, and deserving of being burnt alive. However, over the past 8 seasons, she has grown a lot. She learned from her mistakes and rarely repeats them. She is now capable of ruling Westeros with loyal & wise advisers. Now that those other solutions failed woefully (season 5-8 Tyrion has been producing some of the most stupid ideas we've seen on this show, thanks to D & D), does that now justify burning some of her citizens? and you guys on this thread are like "since she has exhausted all options, Dracarys"Dracarys doesn't have to mean burning innocent citizens. Dany is now mature enough to focus her wrath on Cersei, Euron and their fighters. And don't forget that the people of King's Landing are not in chains, they are not slaves neither are they suffering like that,Tell that to the people whose friends and relatives were burnt alive by Cersei in the Holy Sept. Tell that to the subjects of Qyburn's experiments. Dany will be a better queen than Cersei simply because she cares about people. She is driven by ambition, like most people, but when she sees people suffering, she's ready to do whatever it takes to make things better for them. She went to Astapor to buy slave soldiers, but when she saw how cruelly they were treated, she had to find a way to free all the slaves. Dany will be a much better ruler than any of the people who ruled Westeros recently, such as drunk whoring debtor Robert, evil Joffery, spineless Tommen, and mad queen Cersei. However, I think Essos needs her more, for sure. All those slaves she freed, who called her 'mother', and have been re-enslaved in her absence. |
donrolex:She didn't shed tears but she teared up a little bit after Tyrion's speech, before composing herself and asking Missandei to say her last words. I was surprised to observe how emotional she was when he mentioned her love for her children, and also when he mentioned her pregnancy. |
My Battle Advice For Dany: 1) To protect herself from arrows, she needs to wear metal armour. Drogon is strong enough that the weight won't be an issue. 2) To avoid falling from the dragon, she should be strapped to it, with a comfortable mount like the ones ancient Targaryens used. 3) She should carry a crossbow and a few arrows so she can defend herself for a while if forcibly dismounted. Or ride with a fighter. 4) She should start by destroying military targets at night. Euron's fleet, the scorpions, soldiers manning the walls, the golden company, etc. 5) She should drop propaganda materials informing citizens about Cersei's atrocities and urging them to rebel, with food, into the Red Keep. 6) Wait for Arya, Jaime, and the citizens of King's Landing to kill or capture Cersei, as she continues the harassment of military targets. 7) After severely damaging or destroying all of Cersei's military forces, if Cersei is still in power, Dany's army can take the city easily. A dragon can strike targets very precisely while doing lots of damage. The scorpions are stationary and made of wood. Advantage: Dany. The above is simplistic and clearly incomplete; it's just meant to show that Kings Landing can be taken without killing civilians indiscriminately. NB: No Dothrakis should be allowed into King's Landing. |
The mad queen nonsense.

Did they sell it? Just curious. What do the greenhouses look like? I bet they are extremely hot inside. |
blackteddy:To enjoy this final season, you should get used to not understanding things. The writers don't care anymore. The 'answer': she was on a canoe. |
Magnifico2000:She begged him not to tell anyone because she knew that it would be used against her even if Jon didn't want to be King. Clearly, she was right. Isomerizm:Qyburn is no defenceless old man; he is a monster. He conducts horrific experiments on men, women and children until they die painfully. He is also Cersei's head of technology; responsible for creating Cersei's zombie bodyguard and the scorpions that killed Rhaegal. He should be killed. |
Cybertext:Dany, Tyrion and Greyworm were certainly within the range of the impossibly accurate and powerful scorpions that Euron used to shoot Rhaegal down and destroy Dany’s ships earlier. They had the high ground too. The carelessness of the show runners is amazing. |
lekkie073:The Iron throne belongs to her because the original owner does not want it. He has already given it to her, out of love. So what is the problem? Is Dany cruel? Jon Snow executed a young boy for avenging the death of his parents. He chopped off a man's head for disobeying him. Is she impulsive? Jon Snow lost the Battle of the Bastards at the cost of many lives because he tried to save a brother who was already dead. Varys doesn't fight for the good of the realm. He fights for clueless rulers that he thinks he can manipulate and control. He hates strong rulers. That's why he supported the evil bastard Joffery even though Stannis had a better claim to the throne, at the cost of Ned Stark's life. |
Cybertext:Emilia Clarke’s acting has really improved in Season 8. I especially noticed it in Episode 4. She conveyed the loneliness and sadness that Dany felt during the victory party, her desperation to keep Jon’s claim to the throne a secret, and her struggle to contain her rage after Missandei was executed. I feel very bad about what the writers are doing to her character in order to turn her into a villain by force. |
ABSTRUSE:But she didn’t learn how to keep secrets even after swearing to keep them? Look, I love Sophie Turner and Sansa so much but after the last episode, if I had to choose between Sansa dying and Dany dying, I would definitely pick Sansa. She is so ungrateful. Dany sacrificed her Dothraki and Unsullied and bravely faced the night king while Sansa was hiding in the crypts. She lost the person who loved her most in the world. And Sansa thanked her by stabbing her and Jon in the back. While it seems that resting the army was a good idea, Sansa and others made the north so uncomfortable for Dany that she wanted to leave the place ASAP. She was also concerned that if she waited too long, the information about Jon’s claim would become public knowledge and she would lose the support of her allies. She also thought Sansa’s advice was meant to hinder her and not to help her, which was quite true. |
GrabHisBalls:I think everyone in the north knows that Tormund loves Brienne. It's no secret. Brienne knows it too, but she is disgusted by his wildness. |
Hello Bro. How do you prepare them for consumption? Where did you get the seeds? Thanks. |
RuthlessLeader:Don't you think he could be lying to everyone about his motives? As a spymaster, he must be a very good liar. Good enough to fool us. |
Psady:Her conversation with Tyrion in the crypts showed that the main problem she has with him is his support of Dany. Not his age, looks or status. She has grown. She values kindness, intelligence and loyalty more now. It doesn't hurt that Tyrion Lannister looks like a Hollywood star. |
J2381:I'm not convinced that Jon will make a better ruler than Dany. Jon's knowledge of nothing will inevitably Bleep things up. Take his actions in this episode, for example. He wants Dany to rule the seven kingdoms, yet he told Sansa and Arya about his claim, despite being warned against doing this. As a result of this, it's almost certain that Dany will not rule the seven kingdoms, since her advisers are now plotting against her. As the Lord Commander of the night watch, he violated the traditions of the night's watch so flagrantly that his black brothers agreed to kill him. What leads anyone to believe that such a bumbling doofus can lead the seven kingdoms to prosperity? His reign might not even last a year. Dany can be cruel without proper guidance, but as it happens, Jon is the one man she usually listens to, so let them rule together. Shikena. |
Varys is always scheming 'for the good of the realm', yet the realm keeps getting bleeped under his watch. I name him 'Hypocrite' and 'Liar'. |
Buharifanatic:Tormund is an acquired taste. His wildness disgusts Brienne. On the other hand, Jaime saved her life, gave her a sword, and made her a knight. |
newsheriffintown:Meeting Tyrion and Jon Snow and going along with their idiotic plans has been a disaster for Dany, yet in the show, she seems unaware of it. |
After a new episode is officially released, you should not visit this thread until you have watched it. People should know this by now. We all knew that Grey Worm and Missandei were not going to live happily ever after in Narth. Most of us assumed that Grey Worm would be the one to die because of his dangerous occupation. Missandei's last word was "Dracarys". She should have given a better speech and then jumped from the wall on her own terms, in my view. If someone is going to murder you, they don't deserve your cooperation. |
Hello, if you come across any video leaks or spoilers for a Game of Thrones episode that has not aired, you can post it on this thread. Don't post it on the main thread. |
Locked the topic since the Episode 4 is set to air in less than 12 hours. Mail the supermods if you object to this action. If you want to see the leaks, please visit this thread I just created: https://www.nairaland.com/5171020/game-thrones-spoiler-leak-thread. |
BluntBlunt:He beat her for asking him to use a condom after she came to visit him. He deserves to spend a few months in jail, for sure. |

A terrible war strategist, yet he successfully defended KL from Stannis' navy.
